I know I made a post where I said fuck Ariana as well as anyone else who ever hurt jennette mccurdy but it’s also insane to me that out of a literal 91 chapter book the Ariana thing was only mentioned in one and that is literally all anyone is focusing on when it’s not even a blip in her whole tragic but yet so well written life story

crashes in in a fashionably late kind of way.. january is finally over!! 31 days felt like 300 but now that we’re on the other side of it, what books did you read to start 2024? what was the vibe any standouts has it changed what’s on the horizon?
I've started keeping a physical calendar again so you'd think having the month splayed out in front of me so directly and constantly would be grounding but week after week I was just like Omg how is there More.... we made it thru tho god bless xx January was fun!!
Tumblr media
in terms of my pre-planned monthly reading themes, January was a grace period where I let my whims guide me so I'm surprised at how many themes incidentally overlapped?? Naomi Klein referencing The Fire Next Time, the theme of internet doubles and online dark corners in Doppelganger essentially being the core of The Sluts, the dark spiraling mystery of The Sluts akin to the dark spiraling mystery of Mysterious Skin, yada yada yada. I luv when the dots inadvertently connect!! right place right time vibe!!
The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin
it's been really nice starting my reading off with Baldwin these past few years, something grounding about immersing myself in sharp indictments of the US amidst the usual new year wide-eyed blitheness. this one was only 2 essays but both gripped me just as much as his longer collections. I imagine it's hard to sort of reframe arguments, pleas, and points you've been talking about for years when things still haven't changed, but each new (to me) Baldwin essay reads so fresh in the way that he contextualizes these core points within different interactions + relationships. I think Ive said this before but it's also so rewarding to read an author's works chronologically because you can kind of follow how their frame of mind sharpens/adapts throughout the years and in a way you grow with them, and his first essay (a letter to his nephew) kinda feels like the culmination of that growth laid out with such care. super special
Doppelganger by Naomi Klein
totallyyyyyy consumed + dizzied by this wow I can't believe it took me this long to read Naomi Klein. I think I'd been intimidated by the size of her books + my incorrect assumption that something so research-heavy (bc boy does she research!) will read too dense, but everything here was laid out and tied together so smoothly + accessibly (I feel like I use that word a lot for nonfiction which is probably my subconscious quest to entice ppl to read more nonfiction hehe) This read like partial investigative deep dive into the online world of conspiracy theories/Qanon cesspools + partial mystery novel about her own experience with Naomi Wolf (her 'doppelganger')?? idk it feels weird to relate someone's lived experience to a spectacle like that but it really was like edge of seat level curiosity/uncertainty/etc. just so engrossing and thorough and THRILLING, the epilogue made me gasp!!!
Leslie F*cking Jones by Leslie Jones
my one + only spotify audiobook experience, cut short amid the last chapter bc I ran out of hours and no longer am a spotify premium user so I just read the rest </3 but that turned out to be fun bc I saw what a stark difference it was to listen vs. read this. the audio rules bc Leslie totally goes off script to add anecdotes (one of the reviews was like 'she was NOT reading what was written!!' LMAO so true.. and I love her for that!!) + an emotional depth I don't think could've been sufficiently captured in written form - her laughter and her palpable anger and her literally crying over... such a robust journey! I was an SNL fan basically my whole life til I went to college so I always love stories about it and I really admire how she didn't hold back in her criticisms. I feel like former members (especially those somewhat fresh off the slab in a way) feel like they have to be eternally grateful to their experience when so much of it is so clearly draining and thankless. doubled expectations because she's a woman, tripled because she's a Black woman, and therefore expected to just bend over and take it (her words) but she never does!! she never tries to compromise her own experiences like "this happened... but at least this happened too and they actually were nice in this way-" NO!! she compartmentalizes the good and the bad so distinctly so there's no misunderstanding, and I just really really admire that, the lack of kissing ass in an industry where that's practically what fuels your career/reputation!! she rocks + is such a funny storyteller+ I'm so glad I listened to this
The Sluts by Dennis Cooper
ofc had to squeeze my old man in... I think this was actually the book to first put Cooper on my radar so it was super fulfilling to finally get to it (even tho I devoured it in just 2 days.. a shame bc it was a slay to read this in public) Supremely up my alley with its 2000s internet mystique, the perfect backdrop for a twisted mystery + ruminations of Internet As Performance Art™, the internet as roleplay, what's real + what's just fantasy/fetish, etc etc. so so so good and while still sick and horrifying as his writing is known for, perhaps the most readable for an uninitiated reader of Cooper's works?? even then I'd say this is still for a very particular reader tho idk i can never get a pulse on what a majority of readers are into these days!! I really loved this though and I'm sure it'll be in my top 5 for the year thank u once again for the twisted ride denny !!!
My People Shall Live by Leila Khaled, George Hajjar
feels more like political ethnography than personal memoir. there is some of Leila's backstory and family and personal relationships sprinkled in (her husband is given maybe 5 lines total LOL), but so much of her being is clearly centered around Palestinian resistance + revolution, so recounting her political work within a collective was her truest form of autobiography as that was indeed her life/livelihood. wild to read how intense she was even from childhood, how Down she was to sacrifice things and put herself on the line... literally getting plastic surgery after hijacking a plane in order to be able to get involved in more demonstrations without being recognized like god!!! intense life-altering decisions and it's like she doesn't even bat an eye or show any regrets/wistful 'what if i hard a 'normal' life?'!! that eric andre margaret thatcher meme but instead "do you think leila khaled effectively utilized girl power by hijacking a plane?'' LOL I mean... ! 🤭
The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov
SILLY + ABSURD!!! a bit of a hike to get there but once I hit it, it was hard to put this down (as is my experience with a lot of classics, I find) I think I really enjoy magical realism rooted in political/cultural landscapes, or maybe I just really like wacky shit (it made me think a bit of Catch-22 which I also had fun with!!) + this didn't disappoint!! truly giggled aloud at some parts, the ridiculousness of it all!!! makes me wanna deep dive into the history of the Soviet Union but I feel like I'll need to clear at least an entire month for that .... will have to plan accordingly 👩‍🔬
Mysterious Skin by Scott Heim
heartbreaking and dark but handled with a lot of care. I guessed the "twist" (which feels indelicate to call it that but I cant think of another word rn) early on but I think that just heightened the slow unraveling of it + made it that much more emotionally grueling to get thru. perhaps that was even the point! I'd been meaning to watch the movie for like over a decade at this point but wanted to read it first so now having read and watched it I'm glad it was now vs. me at 10 or whenever bc dumb tween me likely wouldn't have processed it well enough and the darkness would've overshadowed the journey itself. sometimes it's important to wait I guess is what I'm trying to say!!!
I definitely want to squeeze in another Naomi Klein this year if possible, maybe some Russian/Ukrainian lit. I've focused on Baldwin's nonfiction these past years so I might pick up a fiction of his this month + ofc Cooper wherever I can squeeze him <3

Books “Read” in 2022
I listen to audio books during work to fill up the time instead of listening to the radio or pod casts. Often a good reader can make a bland book sound better than it is.
I rate these books not totally on literary quality, but by how much I enjoyed experiencing them. Fun Garbage >>> Boring Navel gazing.
List from 2021
Previous entries: 2020. 2019, 2018, 2017

My Top Books/Series This Year
Shadow of the Gods & The Hunger of the Gods (The Bloodsworn Trilogy, Books 1 & 2) - John Gwynne - Was your favorite part of “The First Law” Series everything that happened in The North?  It is cold and grim. Gods once ruled this land, but all that remains now is their bones and their descendants, those tainted with their blood. But someone is going around taking tainted children from their parents, a mother goes on a bloody rampage to get her son back from these people.
Suttree - Cormac McCarthy - dark/stark modern fiction. McCarthy is a master at making bleak and grim stories that show the dirty underbelly of people and society. The main character, Suttree, lives his life on the fringes of the underprivileged, having been exiled/turned his back on his previous life of wealth, escaping one set of social pressures to be faced with the turmoils of another.
Pit Bull - Bronwen Dickey - a book about the history of the Bull Terrier breed of dogs, the laws put in place to regulate ownership, the abuse these dogs go through, and what can be done to salvage the reputation of these dogs. A dog book that made me cry because I’ve own pitty’s and they are perhaps the best dogs we’ve ever owned.
The Demon-Haunted World - Carl Sagan - I highly recommend this book as an object lesson in how to use critical thinking skills and how to debunk basic conspiracy theories. Using science and basic logic Sagan debunks several ‘supernatural’ occurrences commonly believed as true among the superstitious, conspiracy nutwads, and alien abduction theorists.
The Raven Tower - Ann Leckie - Having one of the main characters be omnipresence and tell the story about the other protagonist by using gender-neutral language, by referring to them as “you” rather than he/she/them/they. Ann is solid when it comes to having complicated main characters that are on the LGBTQ spectrum and do it tactfully and not feel forced in. This is a stand alone book, and a fantasy. Good for someone that doesn’t want to read her Science Fiction work.
A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World - Gender Neutral Main Character. I know the author asks for reviews not to spoil it bc it is kind of a twist at the end, but I think the title itself turns the people that would find this a really good read “off” bc they aren’t looking for another “boy-focused adventure book”.... it isn’t. If you aren’t wanting a post-apocalyptic story as soul crushing to read like The Road or something deep but still appropriate for a tweenager to read.
Space Odyssey - Michael Benson - An in-depth documentary on the making of Kubrick’s iconic movie and Clark’s writing of the novelization. It doesn’t sugar coat that Kubrick was an ass, demanded perfection, spent hours on scenes, even broke laws on filming scenes that were ether cut or only a few seconds long. It does humanize him rather than paint him as a total demon. Clark also had many short comings. He was scammed out of money by his ex-wife, on the rights to the book/screenplay of 2001, having his finances tied up in a movie his boyfriend was making on the side, then had to fight against peddo allegations when he was older.
Other Favorite Books and Guilty Pleasures
Star Kingdom, Books 6, 7, 8, Asylum (Book 9) - Lindsay Buroker - The second half of my favorite series from last year. These books do not disappoint. I absolutely love the characters, how they interact off of one another, and the conclusion was so satisfying. Asylum should be considered a sequel more than a continuation, and Buroker has hinted at continuing on in the Star Kingdom universe soon.
The Emperor’s Edge (Books 1-3) - Lindsay Buroker - Ex-Cop and Former Royal Assassin team up to create a task-force to protect the young Emperor from within and outside threats. There is a “love triangle” but it isn’t insufferable, the way Buroker writes characters makes many of her romance subplots more digestible and no where near as sappy. The amount of sarcasm and snarky-witty dialogue in her writing is always a treat.
Roxy - Neil Shusterman - a good companion book to “Challenger Deep.” The framing device by giving the various drugs personas is well done, it makes a complicated subject easy to digest for 14-16 YA readers.
The Raybearer, Redemptor (The Raybearer, Books 1 & 2) - Jordan Ifueko - African Mythology Flavored Fantasy. Made for the Young Adult audience, so has the obligatory romance plot in the middle of it, but also has poly, lgbt, and ace relationships. The premise itself is set up around creating a “ruling council” of diverse characters, each bringing a unique magic skill/ability to the table, and the group having to learn to work together. “The younger generation fixing generational institutionalized violence, racism, and corruption.” with a bit of “Jesus and his 12 disciples, atoning for the sins of mankind.”
Too Many Curses - A. Lee Martinez - A satire/comedy fantasy about a kobolt hench that “inherits” the castle and all the responsibility of governing its cursed wacky inhabitants. It is a cute read, mild enough for a tween to read. A YA book that doesn't have a romance subplot in it.
The Sandman: Act 2 - Neil Gaiman - If you can’t wait for the show to make more episodes... the full-cast audio production is a good way to fill that void.
The Victorian City - Judith Flanders - One part biography on Charles Dickens, another part breaking down how daily life was during Victorian London. A good read for people wanting to write stories taking place during that time period or have a love for things like steampunk settings.
Slewfoot - Brom - those damn puritans. a woman wise in folk craft is sold into colonialism and has to struggle against the patriarchy of the church. God vs. Nature, both being portrayed as good and evil. It has a couple call-backs to Brom’s ‘Lost Gods’ but don’t have to read that book to understand what is going on.
Shards of Earth - Adrian Tchaikovsky - Earth is destroyed by Eldritch Space Horrors. The remainder of humanity has to deal with protecting their new home from the return of the Architects and survival among other alien races. Among the best-of-the-best of humanity defenders are the “Amazon Warrior Women” and genetically modified psychic pilots that can communicate with the ‘other side’.  Rag-tag group of misfits suddenly find themselves front-and-center of the war for galactic survival.
Good Books, But Not Everybody’s Cup of Tea.
Provenance - Ann Lickie - Sequel to the “Ancillary Justice” books. It is more in tone with the second and third book than the first one. Lots of Politicking, but in a snarky kind of way.
N0S4A2 - Joe Hill - If you liked Steven King’s works, this takes place in the same universe as The Shining/IT/Pet Sematary (The SKEU... if you will). Same tone and quality as well.
Philip K. Dick’s Collected Works, Vol 2. - Has the short stories that inspired The Terminator and The Thing, as well as a few others I enjoyed. The one about the woman that believe the world revolved around her was neat and also played into Solipsism, the same philosophy that tied back into Jack Campbell’s “Pillars of Reality” series and how the magic system works there.
Flowers in the Attic - V. C. Andrews - if you are “ok” with ASOIAF’s Targaryans, you’ll be fine with this book. My mom said she read the rest of the books after I told her I read this one, I am not interested in the others bc the series becomes a Soap after this one. This book is closer to being a Gothic Horror (of the non supernatural type).
Hercule Poirot (The Complete Short Story Collection) - Agatha Christie - The cases aren’t really the important part, it is the character writing. Poirot will always win in the end.
The Blacktongue Thief - Christopher Buehlman - Trickster Main Character. The book is read by the author, in brogue. It has more singing in it than “The Kingkiller Chronicles” and that book’s main character was a Bard. This main character isn’t ashamed of being a morally gray character and the story doesn’t exaggerate his exploits.
Vampire Hunter D - Hideyuki Kikuchi - The light novels that inspired the future punk vampire genre. If you had seen the movie from the 80s, this expands on a lot of it and explains how their world works better.
Ex-Purgatory, Ex-Isle (Ex-Heroes, Books 4 and 5) - Peter Clines - EP is more fallout from the previous book. It is kind of cruel what happened to “The Karen”... but then, there are more than a few politicians that should have karma happen to them. “It couldn’t of happened to a better person.”
Existentially Challenged (The DEDA Files, book 2) - Yahtzee Croshaw - A satirical commentary on social media, using children for fame, and bogus faith healing.
Sorrowland - Rivers Solomon - Handles issues of racism and lgbtq. Southern Supernatural Horror. It uses the ‘transforming into another being’ as an allegory for the main character not to understand what is going on with her body and feelings, and why they aren’t normal and are being demonized.
The Wizards of Sevendor (Spellmonger, anthology), Arcanist,  Footwizard (The Spellmonger, Books 12 & 13) - Terry Mancour - This is when this epic fantasy series takes a hard turn and becomes a science fiction series. If you read the series this far, just keep on reading. I only like the books that have Minalian as the main protagonist. The books where he isn’t in them very much nor the main focus can be skipped, as events do get summarized in other books later.
Ariadne: A Novel - Jennifer Saint - I liked this one more than “Daughters of Sparta” and “10,000 Ships” but not as much of “Circe.”  The first half is “ok” it picks up in the second half after being left on the island.
Priest of Bones - Peter McLean - dirty, gritty, and grimy (with a pinch of dark sarcasm). A thief/thug earned his priesthood on the battlefield, returns home to “clean house” and ends up climbing social ladders and getting more trouble than bargained for.
A Case of Possession (Charm of the Magpies, book 2) - K. J. Charles - Like the first book, it has a decent mystery/crime plot that moves the story along and characters that don’t overstay their welcome... have to like MLM smexy scenes.
Boundless (The Lost Fleet: Outlands, Book 1) - Jack Campbell - the first book of a new Lost Fleet Series. The fleet is unable to stay in system as politics fester, so go on a deep space mission to talk to aliens.
Out of House and Home (Fred the Vampire Accountant) - Drew Hayes - shit just got suuuuper serious as the rivalries pick up between the vampire houses. A friend and their home is targeted, the group has to find a new place to live while they recover and plan their move.
Comet - Carl Sagan - it is half a biography on Edmond Halley, the guy the comet is named after, and the other half science behind how we discovered what they were made of before we could shoot rockets at them.
The Magician’s Guild, The Novice, The High Lord (Black Magician Trilogy, Books 1, 2 & 3) - Trudy Canavan - If you had read the “Shades of Magic” books, this series has the same tone/quality (it addresses homophobia and that some societies do treat people different shades of acceptance). Street Urchin finds out she has magic, has to run from the law, but ends up accepted into the magic school... which the head mage is a rather shady. The “ship” in the third book is just as shady.
Tongue Eater (Mage Errant, Book 6) - John Bierce - Revenge at any cost is too high of a price. It is a compare and contrast between how the main antagonist is going about to carry out their plans of revenge and the apprentice group are coping with the betrayal and the deaths of friends and family.
Average Sauce
The Priory of the Orange Tree - Samantha Shannon - This book is over hyped. It is an average book that gets recommended to progressive-readers just because it has some representation.  The exciting part of the plot doesn’t pick up until the dragon attacks the city 1/3 of the way into the book.
Belgarath The Sorcerer - David & Leigh Eddings - Made during that time when “strong female character” = bitch. If you can ignore the “boys-club” champion, the world building is rather solid.
The Color of Dragons - R. A. Salvatore - By the Numbers Fantasy. It is a Stand Alone, so if you are after a “one shot“ that isn’t very long and isn’t trying to be challenging on any issues.
Two Necromancers, a Dwarf Kingdom, and a Sky City (Unconventional Heroes, Book 4) - L. G. Estrella - The Elf is still annoying, there is some repetition in information, the novelty isn’t as shinny as it was at the start, but the actual plot is picking up more.
The King Must Die / The Bull From the Sea - Mary Renault - The Story of Theseus, grounded less in mythology and more in reality. IE: the Labyrinth is a bull fighting ring, there is no actual Minotaur.
The House of Sixty Fathers - Meindert DeJong - A children’s book from the 50s that I read during a power outage. It is from the POV of a Chinese child during WWII. Full of Pro-Ally propaganda of the era.
Andria Vernon and the Superhero Industrial Complex & Andrea Vernon and the Big Axe Acquisition (Andrea Vernon, Book 2 & 3) - Alexander C. Kane - the humor is hit-or-miss, some of the character’s powers are pretty neat. I kept yelling “GLARE!” at random.
The Dragon’s Blade Trilogy - Michael. R. Miller - There are a lot of good things in this series, but it just didn’t “stand out” from other series of its kind. It is one of those series that characters “randomly” die, and the protagonists are vilified by history.
Elric of Melnibone (Vol 1.)  - Michael Moorcock - The opening by Neil Gaiman is tone deaf to the rest of the stories. The stories themselves are reminiscent of old adventure stories like Conan and John Carter, and if you like those series, this would fit in quite well.
Machine Learning (Short Story Compilation) - Hugh Howey  - I don’t remember half of the stories from this short story anthology. I do remember a couple and I thought were really good. There is a Wool/Silo story. The rest are rather PKD like.
Daughters of Sparta: A Novel - Not the best reinterpretation of the character’s I’ve came across. It tries to go “dark” in some places, but doesn’t quite get there.
The Penelopiad - Margaret Atwood - Interesting framing device, with the character telling her story from the after life to a modern person. It is part satire, part Greek Play.
The Science of Middle-Earth - Lehoucq, Mangin, Steyer - It’s educational. Not a whole lot else to say about it.
Casts and Outcasts, books 2 & 3 - Davis Ashura - Solid fantasy story, not a whole lot to make it stand out from the crowd. It has more of a South-East Asian flavor to it than a typical Westernized Fantasy story.
A Bad Deal for the Whole Galaxy, The Worst of All Possible Worlds (Salvagers, Books 2 & 3) - Alex White - It is Science Fiction with a Magic System. Read the first book last year, figured I would finish the rest of them. Group of misfits trying to save the galaxy. One of those average series that gets recommended more often because of people looking for books with main characters that are LGBTQ.
Tides of Fate (The Ronin Saga, Book 4) - Matthew Wolf - A series just interesting enough to pick up the next book each time one comes out. (Gather your new team member, go to magic city, fight the bad guys there, find clues to point to next city.)
Second Story Man, War of Posers, Skull and Thrones (Bad Guys, books 2, 3 & 4) - Eric Ugland - Eric Ugland - Lit-RPG Isekai series. The main character is morally gray and is trapped in the game world.  It is very much “of the genera” but with more dark sarcasm.
Readable/Passable.
Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Cimmerian Barbarian Omnibus. - I don’t remember most of the stories. I actually found the blurbs before each story talking about the author more interesting.
The Wind’s Twelve Quarters - Ursula K. Le Guin - if you are a completionist, read this book. There is a couple stories from her Hanish and Earthsea series in here. The rest of the stories are on par with other contemporary authors at the time.
The Silmarillion -  J. R. R. Tolkien - it is dense. there are few conversations. it would be difficult for anybody to adapt it into live action. it is like reading a bible and a guide book.
From Russia, With Love, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service -  (James Bond) - Ian Fleming - what I realized while listening to these books, it isn’t the plot nor the characters, it is how things are described that are really well written.
The Hunt for Red October - Tom Clancy - you’re fine if you just watch the movie.
Bottom of the Barrel.
Between Planets - Heinlein - It isn’t necessarily a “bad book”... it is very much full of Heinleinisms. “Libertarians in Space.” The Farting Alien is the best character.

all the supplemental reading u have pls!!!!! 🍽🍽🍽 no ok but actually i was wondering if there was a concept or something i could read abt further re: the post u made abt how henry seems to be aware he’s in the story, like that kinda thing? sorry i cant explain it better. like meta narratives i guess? or what black sails does. also u inspired me to seek out like an anthology abt 20th century horror fiction!
YEAHH stories that know they’re stories and characters that know they’re characters.. i gotcha! here are some things that have made me think more/differently about what it means to be inside a story:
mocked with death: tragic overliving from sophocles to milton by emily wilson: this is wilson’s dissertation thesis and i really loved it despite having not read a lot of the tragedies she discussed. 10/10 self-aware characters who want to die but know the story won’t let them
antigone by jean anouilh: anouilh’s adaptation of antigone is a super short read and really heavily emphasizes the feeling you get a lot in tragedies that characters have no choice but to play the parts they have been assigned
moby dick: obligatory moby dick plug <3 every character in this book is like oh no i’m in a tragedy and i can’t get out and it IS delicious. also points for a lot of stuff about the relationship between man and the sea that feels like it’s in conversation with black sails
when the lambs rise up against the birds of prey by anne boyer: short anne boyer piece that knocks my socks off whenever i read it <3
the madwoman in the attic: the woman writer and the nineteenth-century literary imagination by sandra m. gilbert and susan gubar: simply LISTEN TO THIS. “imaginative and sensitive, catherine genuinely believes that she can become the heroine of her own life story, that she can author herself, and thereby define and control reality. but, like mary shelley’s monster, she must finally come to terms with herself as a creature of someone else’s making, a character trapped inside an uncongenial plot.”
hadestown soundtrack: retelling of the orpheus and eurydice myth that KNOWS it’s a retelling of the orpheus and eurydice myth. also it bops, stream her on spotify
russian doll: time loop hours babey! what happens when characters not only find out they’re in a story, but also realize that the story is responding to their actions and they can manipulate the outcome by working together?? cinema, that’s what.
the truman show: nothing is more delicious than watching a character become self-aware in real time and then break out of his narrative prison. 11/10 film
hopefully that’s a good mix of nonfiction, fiction, visual and audio media ! all of the readings should be pretty easy to find copies of online but if u have trouble lmk and i can get u a link <3 i will also link you to my tag for stories that intentionally trap their characters/characters who Know they are being trapped bc there might be some helpful stuff in there ! and this post and this post whose tags might have some suggestions of stuff i haven’t gotten around to yet. also if anyone else has suggestions for stuff along these lines plz put them in tags/comments ! hopefully this helps a bit <3

Obadiah 1:1-21, Revelation 4:1-11, Psalms 132:1-18, Proverbs 29:24-25
Today is the 13th day of December welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I'm Brian it is always a joy to be here with you. It's always fun to be here at the threshold of a sparkly new week that we get the walk in together…into together and remind ourselves that it's out in front of us and we haven't messed anything up yet. It's…it's…it's there for us to live into and we don't have to mess it up, it can be a wonderful week. We walk with God in it. And here's the deal. The irony is, our journey, like we can see…we can see the shore now. We’ve been out in the deep for a long time but there's a thin line out on the horizon. We can see the landing spot. After today there's only two more Sundays, like two more beginnings to a week left in this year. And, so, let's pay attention to that and live into this with all of our heart. So, you know, as we’ve…as we've gotten into December, leaving November and getting to this place we've realized that yes, indeed we are moving through shorter portions of Scripture. And, so, some of them we’re…we’re in and out of inside of a day. And that's just the nature of things. As we get to the minor prophets, we encounter just about a book a day. But it was like that in the New Testament before we got to Revelation in some of the smaller letters. And, so, yes, every day it feels like we’re encountering new territory and today is no different.
Introduction to the book of Obadiah:
Today we will be reading in its entirety the book of Obadiah and there's only 21 verses. This is a shortest book in the entire Old Testament and even though in the text itself Obadiah is identified as the author precious little is known about who this is. The name Obadiah means “servant of Yahweh.” Obadiah wasn't like unique or uncommon name at the time. So, it makes it difficult to know which Obadiah we’re talking about. Generally, the thought is that Obadiah probably was a contemporary with Jeremiah and that his…his prophetic work used Babylon's conquest of Jerusalem as the backdrop, as the context. And if this is right then Obadiah would be dated somewhere in the late 500s BC. So, like I said, its only 21 verses. So, it's pretty short but it…it deals with a pretty big issue, a…a long-running family issue actually. And what we will see is that this prophecy foretells the doom and the destruction of the Edomites. And we might be like, “well…Edomites…weren't all the “ites” supposed to be destroyed? Like why…why a whole book in the Bible, short as it might be, foretelling the destruction of the Edomites?” The thing is if we go back to the beginning of our adventure, back to the other shore, back to January we have to remember the story of Jacob and Esau. And Jacob, his name was eventually changed to Israel. And, so, Jacob's sons, his descendants were the children of Israel, whereas Esau's descendants also flourished in the land and they became the Edomites. So, you remember Jacob working to get the birth right. You remember all of this and Jacob on the run…well…even though the work of Obadiah is thousands of years old it had to been thousands of years at the time of this prophecy, and the rift was still there. We also remember what happened to the children of Israel. We remember that they did flourish, but eventually through famine ended up in Egypt where actually they were enslaved for four centuries. And we’re just kind of fast motioning through our story in the…in the Bible this year, but then Moses comes along and they are freed from slavery in Egypt and they are trying to get to where they need to go and the Edomites wouldn't allow their own relatives to pass through their land as they traveled toward their own Land of Promise. And there's other points in history where the Israelites are in war, they’re being attacked and the Edomites have nothing to say. They're just kind of watching. They don't get involved in any way, even though their family. And at other times they're willing to pillage their own family while they're…they’re suffering. And God was not pleased with this. And, so, Obadiah comes and announces the total destruction of Edom. And, so, I've already spent more time talking about Obadiah than it will take to read through Obadiah, but this message isn’t an obsolete message. We who believe are known. At least the Scriptures tell us that we have become the children of God and that we are the family of God, that we are the body of Christ, that He is our Father. And it doesn't take too much effort to look around and witness brothers and sisters who are at war with one another or who will silently stand by with her arms folded watching their brothers and sisters get completely wiped out in something with a judgmental attitude that they're getting what they deserve. And here's the thing, Obadiah will certainly condemn this, but so does the Bible in so many places. And, so, this is not an irrelevant thing that we are about to read, even though it's a short thing. And let's take this to heart. In what ways are we looking out at the family of God that we are a part of and just standing by and letting things happen that shouldn't happen. And with that we’re reading from the Good News Translation this week. Obadiah.
Prayer:
And, so, Father as we come into this brand-new shiny sparkly week and knowing that this happens every week, but also knowing that it doesn't happen too many more weeks this year because we’re kinda getting down to it, we thank You for what You speak and what have…what You have spoken in the book of Obadiah and how we must inside of our own families, we can just stand back and be estranged, but inside the family of God there's no place for this. And, so, reveal to us, Holy Spirit, what we must do what's next. How…how do we live into what You are saying? How do we become Your hands and feet and not our own hands and feet with our own grudges? How do we let go and be Your servants doing what You will and not just trying to achieve our own will? But we also thank You for the Proverbs. It’s dangerous to be concerned with what others think of you. Yeah, so much comes out of that and so much comes out of that this time of year, but the proverb goes on to say, “if You trust the Lord You are safe.” Thank You for that. We embrace that. As we let go we are safe in You. O Holy Spirit come. Challenge us with that. Keep that ever present in our minds as we move forward we ask in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Mostly what we’re talkin’ about right now is Christmas time. So, it's…we’re preparing for our annual Christmas party together. And, so, you can call in your Christmas greetings and thoughts about the holiday season and the year that we have spent together in the Scriptures. And you do that by using the prayer line. So. there's a Hotline in the app, the little red button up at the top or 877-942-4253. And right now, you can call in your holiday greetings. Now if you have a prayer request as well or some type of encouragement to somebody or some kind of prayer for somebody, that's wonderful, that’s beautiful. Just don't combine them. Call in your holiday greeting if…if you want and let that be, that standalone, and then you can call in your prayer request or encouragement as a separate thing. That's not how it’s normally, but that's how it is around Christmas time. So, you can do that now. We’ll do it for a couple more days and we’ll shut it down as we prepare for our party.
The other things the Daily Audio Bible Shop. You might not want to forget the journey that we've been on this year. So, check out the Daily Audio Bible Shop. If you spend $40 or more in the Daily Audio Bible Shop this year, we will include with your order the 2020 Christmas ornament. We normal…well…normally we have a Christmas box but as I have set a couple of times, the unpredictability of Covid and shutdowns and social distancing and everything…just how to do all the things that we do with excellence, that's been a juggling thing for lots of people this year. And, so, this is what we thought best, just to let you kind of create your own…your own Christmas box. And normally the Christmas ornament is exclusive in the box but you can make your own box. And you spend $40 or more we’ll send you the ornament.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Hey what’s up DAB family this is Micah in Awe in the Kansas City Missouri area. I’ve been hearing this weird noise all morning [jingling noise] What is that? What is that? [jingling noise] Is that Santa’s sleigh bells coming in. No. That’s them keys Jesus is holding. Revelation 1:18. I am the first and the last and the living one and I was dead and behold I am alive forevermore and I have the keys of death and Hades. No matter what’s keeping you locked down, whatever chains are around you Jesus has the key to that. Don’t forget it. Jesus has more keys than a little bit. All the janitor’s keychains in the world and got nothing on Jesus keys. For the rest of your life remember this jangling [jingling noise]. That’s Jesus’ keys. He’s got your answer. I love you DAB family.
Hello Daily Audio Bible this is Sharon in Southern California. It’s been a while since I’ve called. My daughter and I are still not talking. In fact, it’s gotten worse. She had herself committed, dad the kids put in home secure I believe. So, I have no idea where anyone…where anyone is but please keep them in your prayers for their safety for their health for…and possible reconciliation between me and my daughter and my grandchildren. My husband’s drinking has gotten worse. So, I haven’t been really in a mood or state of mind to call. I’ve been listening, I just haven’t…I’ve been depressed, and I guess sad and upset that things aren’t going like I would like them to. It’s been two years since I’ve spoken with my daughter and it’s been a little over a year about my husband’s drinking and I…I just feel overwhelmed and beat down. So, thank you for your prayers. Continue to pray as I do for you guys every day. I love you. Thanks. Bye.
Good morning DAB family this is Shante calling from the treasure Coast of Florida and I am calling in for one of our DAB sisters who is dealing with workplace stress from the customers and from her colleagues as well and from the responsibilities and problems that have been put on her plate to solve. And I just want to encourage you sister. Want to encourage you and I want to remind you that God has your back and these burdens have been placed on you but hand them over to Him and meditate on Philippians chapter 4 verses four through eight. It says to “rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I say rejoice.” And I feel like it starts right there. If we’re constantly rejoicing, even in the midst of our circumstances, especially workplace stress. I’ve made phone calls into the DAB about workplace stress from my previous job over the 10 years that I worked there I called in multiple times about it and I…I know that pressure of having a gazillion responsibilities and…and feeling like you’re not making progress in getting your responsibilities done. And right now, maybe…maybe I’m able to call in this call because I’ve just started a job and I don’t have those type of responsibilities at this moment but it’s coming. And, anyway what got me through that was staying in constant prayer. And I know you’re doing that, but I just want to remind you it’s…it’s not up to you to solve everything. Let…let God do that leg work. Ask him for wisdom constantly. Ask him for peace. You said you didn’t have a lot of peace. And basically that is part of Philippians 4 and 6. You’re gonna get…
Well hello from beautiful Cincinnati Ohio this is Daniel Johnson Junior. How are you? I am calling in today to share a huge praise report. Last year in December 2019 about this…around…right around this time I was in the hospital having been diagnosed with congestive heart failure symptoms. Yesterday I saw a memory come through that I had an echocardiogram done to check my heart function and my heart function was only 13% last year on December the 10th 2019. This has been a tough year for us all myself included. I mean I’m still looking for my next job. Still trying to figure out what’s going on. But one thing that has been huge, and you can probably tell because I’m out walking right now. It’s actually chilly here in beautiful Cincinnati Ohio. It is a balmy 30°F. I am wearing a T-shirt, a thick sweater and then a big thick flannel jacket over…I’m not wearing a hat, I’m not wearing gloves because I’m only about a mile from where I live but I’m enjoying this walk out here and time to spend with God and of course time to spend with you guys too here at the Global Campfire. So, this year in October middle of October I had an echocardiogram done and by ejection fraction is 53%. My 53%, that’s close to normal. So, I praise God for what He’s done this year. So, from beautiful Cincinnati Ohio Daniel Johnson Junior. Make it a great day.

Judges 1:1-2:9, Luke 21:29-22:13, Psalms 90:1-91:16, Proverbs 13:24-25
Today is the 23rd day of April. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is always, every day, a pleasure to be here with you around the global campfire taking the next step forward as we continue our journey through the Scriptures. And we finished the book of Joshua yesterday, which brings us to the book of Judges, which is what comes next after Joshua, but it's very different than either Joshua or Moses leadership.
Introduction to the book of Judges:
The book of Judges will lead us all the way to the times of the kings of the monarchy and that's where we'll be by the time we finish Judges. So, this book, Judges, traditionally was authored by the prophet Samuel. Many modern scholars don't really feel that he could have been the sole author of the book. They believe that many sources were drawn together because the book of Judges covers many generations with Samuel being the final judge. So, it makes sense that he would be involved in recounting Judges. And it’s a good time to point out that Judges isn't…like…it's mission isn't to talk about judgments, it's not the book of judgment, it's the book of Judges and the Judges were the people who were the leaders after Joshua. And, so, we’ll find that the time after Joshua, during the time of the judges, is a bit more somber than in the time of Joshua with all the drama and conquest. Judges is what comes next and we’re about to watch the children of Israel as they fall away and walk away from their covenantal relationship with God and suffer some of the consequences of that back-and-forth that becomes their story. So, in this book we will encounter 13 judges that led the children of Israel after Joshua. They didn’t have a king yet, as we’ve mentioned. And, so, they were the rulers. And the culminating story in the book of Judges illustrates how one thing builds on another, every decision bearing weight on a greater outcome and how little subtle decisions by seemingly unrelated and relatively unimportant people ended up bringing on the terrible annihilation of an entire tribe of Israel. So, the book of Judges was probably written somewhere around 1000 BC. So, it's obviously several thousand years ago, but ironically, we shouldn't have much of a problem finding ourselves in this book. It will resonate with all of our stories. We've all had the back-and-forth in our relationship with God. We've all been able to experience the joy of intimacy with God but some of the repercussions of allowing that relationship to falter and us willingly walk away from it. And at the same time, God doesn't ever not have His arms outstretched toward us asking us to come home. His words are never not return to me, come back. And, so, with that we begin. We’re reading from the English Standard version this week. Judges chapter 1 verse 1 through 2 verse 9.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for Your word, we thank You that as we continue through this week and moving our way day by day towards another month that You have been faithful to us every day and You have spoken to us in many deep ways and You are transforming us from within, from the inside outward and we thank You for that. And as we move into the book of Judges and we begin to see what comes next we ask, Holy Spirit, that You begin to help us see ourselves in these stories because we’ve watched the generations rise up and finally be able to go into the promised land and we will certainly see how the cultures all around them do in fact become a snare to them and what happens next. And, so, Father, You have brought us on this path and we have seen much. We don't want to go on that path anymore, the path that will lead us away from You, and we’ll see us walking away from You even as You're standing there with Your arms out saying, “don't do this.” We have done that many times. And, so, now as we enter into this territory in the Bible where we can see this happening to a whole people we ask that You make our own story clear to us. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Good morning family. It’s Mary Lynn from New Brunswick. It’s my first time calling on my mobile phone so…on my mobile device in the car so I apologize if it’s hard to hear me. I’m calling today to thank Lee. Lee, oh my goodness, your prayers for sloth, for procrastination. And basically, what I’m hearing is disobedience of any sort has really hit home this week. Our church also had a special event this past week and it was a prayer and worship night on Sunday night for the community to get together and believer miracles. Specifically praying for actual biblical type miracles and we were praying and worshiping, and it was an amazing night. And something strange happened to me that I, of course, did not obey and I procrastinated. I allowed to sloth to get the best of me. There were two young ladies sitting next to me in the front row, both in wheelchairs, and as we were praying I just felt almost unable to control myself by reaching over and touching one of the ladies and asking God to heal her and I fought a desperate like you would not believe, I refused to do it. I let sloth win and it has been on my heart and mind all week and I have repented, and I am continuing to repent, especially whether or not I should actually confess to one of my pastors and talk to them about it. But I’m telling you, you really hit home boy. Thank you for everything you’ve contributed, and I will call back again and let you know what’s going on. Thank you. God bless family. Bye.
Hi my names Kevin, I’m calling from Arkansas. I just heard Dawn Perry, she wanted prayer for her son Tyler. I can relate to that, I’ve been through that and I just know that God can heal and touch his mind and also Johnny from Colorado. I want to pray for his friend Nick that he was so sensitive to call in and just really caring young man, I believe junior high. So, I’m gonna be praying for both these with you. All, pray with me. Dear Jesus we just thank You for this beautiful day, thank You for Daily Audio Bible, thank You for Brian and Jill and all the staff Lord that go into making this possible Lord, that we can just pray over the airwaves Lord and that You hear…and that You hear our prayers and that You answer our prayers. Lord I just pray for Dawn and her son Tyler Lord, that he will just start taking his meds Lord, that he will get back on track Lord, we’re just believing for total healing, that he can be a productive Young man and have a really good future Lord, we just thank You for that. We thank You for Johnny Lord calling in for his friend Nick Father, that he’s just such a caring Young man and he’s been there Lord, so he knows, knows that we can comfort others in areas we’ve been comforted Lord. So, just pray for Nick Lord that he gets in the right foster home or that You just work his family situation out Lord, just work a miracle Lord, that he can just enjoy his Young years Lord and just grow up to be a godly man. We thank You for that and thank You for all Your blessings. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. Love all you guys at DAB. I pray for all of you every day. I don’t call in very often but love you and have a great day. Bye-bye.
Hi DAB prayer partners this is Rob Still worship dude in Nashville Tennessee or as we like to say, worship city. Hey, I wanted to ask you guys if you would please pray for me on my next missions trip. As I’m calling it’s Thursday, April 18th. I’m leaving on the 24th. Yeah, that’s when I fly out and I will be ministering in Eastern Europe for almost a month and I would really appreciate your prayers. I’ll be in Czech Republic and then Austria and then Ukraine on three very different projects. Anyway, and if you could also please pray for my wife. Her father passed away about eight weeks ago and she’s gonna be working on settling the estate and things like that. So, anyway I love you guys. I appreciate your prayer support. The Lord be with you.
Hello this is Lisa from San Jose California, first-time caller, been listening since the middle of February. What a wonderful gift this Daily Audio Bible is to me. My husband and I have been going through a lot of things. He’s got cancer for the fourth time. He’s going off to a conference this weekend for healing. Please pray for him. There’s an evil spirit on him causing this illness. We pray that they will be a broken off this weekend completely. And then me, I have all kinds of physical problems…undiagnosed…as I can’t breathe. Anyway, I just am reaching out to Jesus every day and I know that He strengthens me to get through everything. So, if you could please pray for deliverance for both my husband and I, Lisa and Craig Smith, thank you very much. Talk to you next time.

Judges 2:10-3:31 ~ Luke 22:14-34 ~ Psalm 92:1-93:5 ~ Proverbs 14:1-2
Today is the 23rd day of April.  Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible.  Here we are, friends, the threshold of a shiny new week and I love the reset of that.  We get to step through and live into a new week.  It is not yet written.  We have not yet lived it.  It is waiting for us and every choice that we make is going to make up the week we are about to live and I like it because we can choose now how we’re going to live. So one of the things that we’re going to do as we step through this threshold of a new week is really open up a new chapter, a new season in the Old Testament, a new season in the life of the children of Israel who are newly settled into the promised land.  We ended the book of Joshua yesterday with the death of Joshua and we begin today with the book of Judges.
Introduction of a New Book (Old Testament)
The book of Judges from a traditional perspective was authored by the prophet Samuel.  Modern scholarship does not really feel that he could be the sole author of the book. They theorize that there are many sources where it came from, but the book of Judges is a whole lot somber than Joshua with all its drama and conquest.  Judges is what comes next and we’re going to watch the children of Israel as they fall away and suffer some of the consequences of this back and forth that has been and continues to become their story.
It's not a book of judgment per se.  It's not called Judges because of judgment but is warnings that God passes on to the children of Israel.  It's called Judges because it is the story of the 13 judges that led the children of Israel after Joshua.  They didn’t have a king yet and so they were ruled by these judges.  The culminating story in the book of Judges illustrates how one thing builds on another, each decision bearing weight on a great outcome, just like we were talking about as we crossed the threshold into this new week, how subtle decisions by seemingly unrelated and really relatively unimportant people ended up bringing on the terrible annihilation of an entire tribe of Israel.
The book itself was probably written about 1000 BC, so it was 3000 years ago.  It is obviously a long time and the irony of that is that although we’re looking back across several thousand years, we’ll have no problem finding ourselves in this book. It resonates with all of our stories. We all have the ebb and flow, the back and forth in this faith journey and we’ve all been able to experience some of the repercussions of allowing that relationship with God to falter as we falter in it and at the same time God's arm is never not outstretched.  His words are never not “return to me, come back.” “Please, please come back, my beloved.” His love is no less profound and we’ll find that to be true in the book of Judges.
So we’ll read from The Voice translation this week as we begin Judges chapter 1, verse 1 through chapter 2, verse 9 today.
Prayer
Father, we thank you for this new week, these new mile markers, these new thresholds that we step through that offer us a reset.  And as we move into this new book, this new era in the lives of the children of Israel and what comes next after Joshua, we invite your Holy Spirit, because so many of the behaviors, so many of the postures of heart, so many of the activities, they mimic ourselves.  They mimic our own lives with different clothes on.  So we invite your Holy Spirit to come, to guide and lead us through this week.  We consecrate this week to you.  We offer it to you now.  We offer our lives as a living sacrifice in advance and ask that every word of our mouths, every meditation of our hearts be acceptable to you, Lord, for you are our strength and our redeemer.  So come Holy Spirit in every thought, word and deed this week.  Show us what to do and what to not do.  Show us what to undo.  Show us how to live in your kingdom as your ambassadors this week. We ask in the mighty name of Jesus and by his authority, amen.

Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports
Hello, good morning Daily Audio Bible family.  This is Jay calling from New Jersey.  It's been a long time since I’ve called in, but I'm calling today because I really, really, really want to talk to Mark S. from Australia.  Mark S., man, listen, brother, congratulations, man, on being convicted.  Most people would shudder at the thought of coming to their brothers and sisters in Christ and first of all, confessing, and then also making yourself accountable. So praise God.  Congratulations over the power of the devil because you and I know that Satan will utilize these times that we fall weak and fall prey to sin and hold them over our heads and make us think that we can’t come to God for forgiveness or we can’t come to our brothers and sisters.  But Mark, I understand and I want you to reach out to me. My email address is [email protected].  I'm willing to be your accountability partner, brother, so let me just pray for you now. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we praise you God.  We honor you and we love you.  Father, we just confess now of any sin that we have committed as well in our hearts, in our flesh that is contrary to your word and to your love.  Father, we thank you for Mark S.  We thank you for his confession.  We thank you for his accountability and we thank you for your grace and your forgiveness.  And then Father, we just lift up Mark S. and we lift up myself and we lift up our friends and we lift up our family members and we lift up anyone who is struggling with anything that they just fall prey to.  God, we submit it to you and we just ask that you will strengthen each and every one of us.  In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
Hey Daily Audio Bible family.  This is Stanley from Maryland.  This is a prayer of thanksgiving, a call of thanksgiving really. I'm just overwhelmed with the persistent fervent prayer of everyone calling in and now that this is my second year listening to the Daily Audio Bible, I really just want to say well done. Man, how God has shown his face and he is moving.  I want to share a quick word with you.  Revelation 3:20 says behold, I stand at the door and knock.  It's talking about him.  He stands at the door and he knocks and he knocks on the door of our hearts and it says that he wants to come in and have a meal with us.  I’ve been praying and seeking God a lot and he's been showing me that he is faithful and that he is always ready to come in and to spend time with us, that he is a God of relationship, not a God of…  I made the mistake and I had to repent.  I was thinking that he was just a God for me to get what I wanted.  Like this job teaching in Southeast Washington, D.C., it didn’t really work out. Unfortunately, I had to leave, but it has been such a blessing and now I'm looking for a new position, but I'm seeking God not for what he is going to give me, even though I believe that I am going to get a new job, but I'm seeking him just out of pure relationship because that is what he wants to have with me.  He wants to come in my heart and he wants to have a meal and he wants to sit down and talk to me.  That's my word.  Have a good rest of the day.  Bye.
Yeah, hello.  This is Steve from South Central Pennsylvania, Franklin County.  It's a first time call, but I’ve been listening to Daily Audio Bible with my wife for about eight years.  I'm calling in regard to my daughter-in-law, Anna, her and my son, Josiah, had a beautiful baby girl on April Fool's Day and tomorrow will be three weeks.  She had to have an emergency C-section and it was a pretty traumatic birth and has had a hard time healing and getting on top of the pain resulting from the surgery and I would like the DAB community to join us in praying that she is able to get past the pain, that the pain will leave, and that she will be able to have joy and being able to hold her baby much more than she is now able to and that you give my son patience and love to give her as he ministers to her.  Just pray that with me now.  Lord Jesus, I ask that your healing power would cover Anna. Lord, that you would give her your peace.  Lord, help her to rejoice in you and not fall prey to the despair that she ___.  Lord, strengthen her each day.  I pray that you strengthen Josiah, that you give him all the love that he needs from yourself to give to Anna during this time of restoration and healing and, Lord, that they would be able to love on their baby, Josanna.  Pray this in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
Good morning everyone.  This is Elaine from Victoria.  I heard Mike call about his brother, Greg, and to Shanna, his wife with cancer.  My brother had cancer and I wished they would have known the Lord at this time, but I want to give you a scripture to encourage and help you.  And I ask the Lord of peace to be upon you, Michael, and Greg and Shanna.  And this is the scripture, Isaiah 41:10.  It says do not fear for I am with you.  Do not be dismayed for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you.  I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  I’ve asked the Lord about fasting and I'm going to fast for you and for my own family, two are the alcoholics, and I'm going to fast according to the Lord, how he wants me to do it.  So bless you guys, all of you at Daily Audio Bible.  Bye now.
Hi Daily Audio Bible family.  This is Sam calling from Vancouver, also I am in my workplace here in Portland.  I'm calling because I heard Tony from Southern California. You called in about a month ago on the podcast in regard to your marriage.  Tony, I just want to let you know, man, you are a warrior.  I can tell that in your voice.  You will be fighting for the honor of your wife and your kids.  I just get that sense that you are the kind of man who is that and that is who you are.  So I’ll be praying for you, thinking of you and for your wife, that you would just sense his presence, your wife would and your kids would and you would draw strength from that in that moment.  And also the listener who called in who is with the native people and wanted to encourage them. Thank you for calling in and I second that.  Just appreciate you calling that out.  Thanks so much, DAB family, for being present and thanks for being in my life, just each one of you for being who you are.  It's just a beautiful tapestry and I know God is just loving this.  So thanks to all.  I love you guys.  From Sam, Sidney, Grace, Serena and Judah.  Much love to my wife who finally called in.  So from Sam, Sidney, Grace, Serena and Judah, we love you guys.  God bless you.
Hello Daily Audio Bible family.  This is Candace from Oregon and it's heavy on my heart because my husband and I have three really beautiful children and the second one has just been so loving and  helpful and caring toward me as we have lost her dad, my husband, on March 11.  So she wasn’t until yesterday able to really talk about her own loss, which is really difficult because of unfinished business, things that really required some confrontation. So would you please come with me now in prayer for her?  Lord, I pray for this beautiful, beautiful woman who struggles so hard.  I pray that you will break, Lord, every barrier that keeps her from you and that she will find ways to confront the arrows of her own childhood, times of neglect and mistreatment.  I pray, Lord, that the life and death and resurrection of your son will be everything to create that reconciliation and the hope and the future and the wholeness that she needs and that can come only from you, Lord.  I pray that you’ll show up for her in unmistakable ways.  In Jesus’ name and for his sake and to his honor and glory.
