before i begin the discussion, i want you all to know that i do not know everything about the protest and not everything might be factual. the things that i will be writing down are solely based from the accounts that i’ve seen on twitter (hence the links) and some of my personal insights. my intention for making this post is to provide additional information, clear out some misunderstandings, and not to force anyone to change their stance regarding the issue. please read this with an open mind. let’s respect each other’s opinions and calm down :)

What is the protest about?

- originally, kcarats started the protest to ask Pledis for a feedback regarding the issue about sasaeng fans and the youtube merger. after a long time of not receiving any response from pledis, kcarats decided to form a protest which includes the following actions:

A. boycotting of 숨이 차 (Getting Closer) Teaser/MV + Unsubscribing to Pledis on Youtube - kcarats were highly encouraging carats to stream via VLive/1thek in hopes that pledis would realize that they would not get the number of views (on youtube) that they want. also, VApp is connected to NaverTV so the views will help with top 100. - it would not greatly affect Seventeen if we’re talking about the charts because: 1. it’s not a comeback song 2. they didn’t even release the track digitally. - yes, they’re earning an amount of money through views/subscribers but let’s not forget that youtube is not the only source of income of seventeen. - Seventeen’s official channel is connected to Billboard while Pledis’s official channel isn’t

B. boycotting of Seventeen’s 2019 Season’s Greetings - kcarats are asking fans to cancel their orders online. they believe that it would not directly affect Seventeen, rather, it would affect pledis and their revenue.

.. after a few days, Han Sungsoo gave his feedback regarding the matter, here’s a rough translation of his statement. however, they still were not satisfied with his feedback so some kcarats protested outside of pledis but they continued to ignore them and even cut off their phone line due to nonstop phone calls from fans.

Why is the youtube merger such a big deal for kcarats?

- according to HSS’s statement, he said that he’s doing it to help Pledis and its artists grow, including Seventeen. it took 6 years of seventeen’s hardwork and effort to gain 3 million subscribers and pledis wants to “help seventeen grow” with their 600k subscribers? 🤔 that doesn’t make sense, right? it’s almost as if he’s using us, seventeen fans, when it should be the company’s effort. - also, let’s not forget that kfans, in general, are very non multifandom. when they say they don’t want to see other artists they literally mean they don’t want to see them at all.

some misunderstandings:

- kcarats are encouraging other fans to dislike/report the videos on Youtube = NOT TRUE! they’re encouraging everyone to unsubscribe to Pledis on youtube and watch the videos on Seventeen’s VLive but NOT dislike/report the video. if you see any tweet/announcement which says that, it’s either a troll or someone who aims to mislead carats (especially icarats) - fansites started/support the boycotting thing for the season’s greetings because they want fans to buy their own merch = NOT TRUE! i know that a tweet blew up regarding this. personally, i checked the thread of the alleged fansite and it did have a follow up tweet which contains a caption and an attached image of their own merch. as an icarat who’s not fluent in speaking korean, i immediately believed the tweet that was floating around. however, i wasn’t completely satisfied and i felt like it’s unfair for the other party so i asked a korean friend to translate the tweet for me. apparently, the caption said that the fansite was willing to giveaway (im not sure how many) their sg to those who will show a proof that they’ve cancelled their order online. so clearly, it was a mistranslation. - if the number of sales of their season’s greetings would be low, then it would affect seventeen’s earning as well = FALSE. i’m pretty sure the company has already paid the boys for it and let’s not forget that seventeen aren’t really gaining anything from any merch, despite them producing the stuff [ex. mingyu’s bongbong design] - finally, NO, WE’RE NOT GOING TO BOYCOTT SEVENTEEN’S COMEBACK MV AND ALBUM T-T that’s actually the reason why kcarats are asking fans to do it now.

“the boys would be so hurt and they would think that we don’t like their new song/concept” - i’m sure at least one of them owns a personal twitter account and they’re monitoring what fans are saying about them and their new releases. long story short, they know what’s happening.

“if you’ll support the protest, that means you’re boycotting woozi’s composition and soonyoung’s choreography” - please take time to read this

“enough with the protest. they’re not going to change their mind” - it has been said that after the protest, pledis is reconsidering the whole youtube merger despite releasing a statement about it.

please don’t think that anyone who supports the protest enjoys the whole concept of boycotting. please don’t look at the protest as a way of sabotaging Seventeen. we are all Carats, regardless of which nationality, we all want what’s best for Seventeen.

so something (refer to the song he said suits myday) happened with jae recently and ive seen fans trying to defend him by @ing him and saying that they love him which is fine - great even! but what i dont approve is how everyone’s basically forgotten about the whole matter because they had concerts so instead of @-ing him and asking him to explain himself, they tell him what a great concert it was which is also great bc their concerts are honestly amazing. basically my pet peeve is when ppl dismiss the problematic action of some people just bc they like them.

another thing is that there were some fans who started guilting others for wanting to drop day6 completely because of what jae did and in my opinion i think it is totally cool to want to drop a group if they did smth bad like??? its ur life???? u can choose who you want to like. what is not cool is pulling out all the good things the person has ever done in their entire life and try to remind others about the positive sides of the person. yes. they’re an encouraging person, etc. but that does not cancel out the bad things they’ve done until they explain/apologise. what is infuriating is just the manner some people took it?? they literally went ahead and tweeted shit like “would your parents drop you if you did smth wrong?” and “you’re seriously gonna drop someone whos been nothing been nice because of one incident?” yes. people will and you dont have any fucking right to stop them? so dont go pulling out receipts.

another thing. its also okay to want to stan the whole group even if someone has done smth problematic. like? to me youre cool if youre able to see and acknowledge the bad shit someone has done and still stand by their side while educating them at the same time its nice to have faith in your idols. however, i wont say much when your idols dont respond and/or respond in a way that shows absolutely no remorse. its cool if you want to support them too, despite that.

tldr; dont fucking excuse someone’s behaviour/action just because youre so far up their fucking ass. dont pull out shit from before either, be it good or bad. and lastly, its okay to want to drop/continue supporting them, its your life.

i just wanted to talk about this tbh,, it was nice to see a few mydays trying to urge jae to explain the whole situation but seeing as he still hasnt and couldve it really irks me :-/

they’re great ok ive talked abt them like 10 times in the span of 2 months but whatever folks

they’re super nice, kind and just all of the positive adjectives out there in the dictionary ...... they’ve helped me multiple times and they’re always there 2 lend me a listening ear (or in our case, eye lmao) idk??? im just super comfortable around them always and im honestly so thankful we became mutuals (and subsequently friends) last year!!!! i cant say a lot bc ill just get v repetitive but overall they’re an awesome friend and im glad we still communicate daily via twitter and sometimes our skype sessions even if they’re kinda awkward bc i never know when 2 talk bc im scared ill speak and theyll say smth and itll turn into a MESS which actually happened lmao

im looking forward to the day our skype sessions become super smooth and easy going!!!

I was tagged by @younhgyun (THANK YOUUUU) to do this day6 q and a! I’ve been tagged in more than one so i’ll do all the questions in one post cuz i’m lazy

1. if you had to pick one member to be your brother, who’d u choose n why ? Dowoon! He’s just so sweet and kind! We’re pretty close in age, but i would totally dote on him! (I was gonna say Brian, but I would not want to be constantly living up to his expectations haha)

2. jae with dark hair or jae with blonde hair? Dark hair Jae. He was gone too soon and will forever be missed

3. rapper brian or vocal brian? When I first found day6 I didn’t know Brian was a vocalist too and my world was ROCKED. So I’m definitely going with vocal Brian.

4. a perfect day with your bias? I’m so awkward I would not want to spend like alone uninterrupted time with them, haha. I would be very content with like a 3 minute-ish fan sign with each member

5. your favorite unreleased song? The unreleased songs, like everything day6 has released, are masterpieces of course, but I love You so much its so magical and beautiful. It’s YoooOooOUuuuu

6. if you could tell one thing to your bias, what would it be? I don’t have a specific bias in day6 so I’ll just go with the whole group. I’d just want to tell day6 that they’re doing an AMAZING job with the everyday6 project and that they’re helping and inspiring so many people with their music and IM SORRY THIS GOT SO EMO

7. your fave thing about your bias!!! (bring the emo) TOO LATE ughhh favorite thing about day6 as a whole I guess is how humble they are! They’re so talented and keep such a level head about everything and watching them get excited about even the smallest successes is so heartwarming.

1. If you could put your bias group in any universe what would it be? Any universe where they are hella successful and well-fed idk haha

2. have your bias speak your language or being able to speak your bias’ ? Definitely be able to speak my bias’ language! I don’t have the time or motivation right now (and languages are HARD) but it’d be so cool to learn Korean!

3. who in your bias group would you go on a roadtrip with? I’d go with Sungjin! He can drive and he’s got those leader skills so he’d know how to plan a fun trip!

4. favorite album of the groups you stan? Sunrise wins because it’s got so much GOLD but Daydream still holds up! for other groups: ATM I’m bumping Dreamcatcher’s “Prequel” and Vromance’s “Romance!”

5. if you could recommend your bias one song/book/movie what would it be? I’d recommend day6 to watch Kimi no Na Wa/ Your Name! That movie is beautiful and amazing, and very inspirational ( I’m sure they’ve already seen it though)

6. if you could sing one song with your bias what would it be? I can’t sing! I’d just sing along at a concert or smth

7. how did you know your bias was your bias? Day6 became my bias group after 1) Letting Go tore me up emotionally and 2) Every song on Daydream was beautiful and transcended reality, they were so good.

8. aaand you can only have one kpop song in your phone for the rest of your life you choose____? HARD! Okay non-day6 songs only! ugghhhhh…. KNOCK KNOCK by twice! It’s random I know but its kind of silly but that song makes me so happy and has really cheered me up in some hard times. Its just catchy and fun and kind of makes you forget the world sucks for 3 minutes and 15 seconds.

1. what was the first day6 song you ever heard? Congratulations! I’ve been following them since debut but I wasn’t a stan. I saw Congratulations when (for the second time) it got uploaded!

2. what’s your favorite thing about your bias? Don’t have like a set bias, so again for the whole group! Another thing about Day6 I really love is how hardworking they are! Learning the chords and lyrics to 2 new songs each month must be so tough!

3. favorite Look your bias has ever done? Again the whole group! My FAVE photoshoot so far was the everyday6 March one! They all looked so soft and adorable like the PASTELS and it clashed so adorably with the hardcore How I Can I Say:

4. if you could pick one song for day6 to cover, what would it be? I know someone has already said this, but Man Who Can’t be Moved by the Script! I’ve been a huge fan of the Script since pretty much their first album, and Day6 has mentioned that they’re fans as well! I also feel like their musical styles are pretty similar.

5. what artist (korean or international) would you want day6 to collab with?Again, the Script! Because I feel like their musical styles really match and their voices would sound really good together (like Wonpil and Danny doing falsetto together wahhh) and they’re both pretty humble and down to earth; I feel like they’d get along well. For a Korean collab: The Rose!

6. if you met your bias today, what would you want to tell them? and what would you want them to say to you? If I met any of the day6 members I’d just want them to know how happy they make a lot of people and how proud Myday is of them! I wouldn’t care what they say to me I just want to make their day and let them know how great they are (LORD I’m corny)
