top 5 supergirl episodes?

full disclosure i haven't seen the entirety of supergirl (ive literally only seen like 7 eps & its all season 1) so this list will probably change over time (bc im starting to painstakingly watch the show - imagine slowburn but watching a series) however ive watched like a ridiculous amount of supercorp edits so im going to base my choices on the parts where supercorp exist ha!

5. Season 1 - Red Faced

this would probably be the only none supercorp related yet still somehow my personal fave for a few reasons. i love this scene in particular bc it shows that cat grant cares for kara and what cat says here is very relatable. no matter how harsh cat can be at times, cat was a girl's girl here. she gave an advice which was helpful to both supergirl and kara. she had every right to rip kara viciously apart but instead she took a completely different route. i like the line she says here.

"You really need to figure out what's really bothering you." "You really need to find that anger behind the anger. And you really need to figure out what's really making you mad."

i think this was also the ep where kara acknowledged where some of the anger was coming from. even with zero dialogue and with mel's incredible acting skills she was able to convey so much emotions during that scene where she releases all her anger towards the red tornato. From losing her parents, losing her planet —her home, for losing everything and maybe even angry with her parents for the choices they made for her. it was such an incredible and very emotional scene.

4. Season 2 - "The Adventures of Supergirl"

this should be easy. this was the first time kara met lena and changed the trajectory of every queer person watching this show and lena first delivered the first of many many questionably fruity (gay) lines fjlkajdla

if there is one particular scene that convinced me to even give supergirl the time of day its obvs this one and lena "suspiciously straight" luthor delivered one of the most iconic lines on television in my opinion and now forever engraved in my mind. let's not forget lcorp CEO lena luthor took the time of day to fill catco employee kara danver's office with flowers like it's a regular tuesday but oh well

so this isnt at all groundbreaking bc honestly, 5 isn't enough and anything that has supercorp will be my favorite even though again i havent seen the rest of supergirl yet but we're ignoring canon so we're ignoring that fact too. i think this was the ep where kara was comforting lean about jack's death. i personally have a love and hate relationship towards this scene for many reasons but im a sucker for supercorp and there was a clip where kara hesitated and looked like she was about to plant a kiss on lena's head but then hugged her instead and i think its beautiful and im a sucker for kara leaning in towards lena

in celebration of the finale: my top 5 moments from each only friends character so far

now ray is my favourite character, hes my guy, hes my begrudging blurred reflection so its really hard to narrow down his moments to 5 because there are the times hes so cute and i smile when hes on my screen and the times he says things that were written to destroy me personally and times i want to strangle him for being a little bitch because i get it but also he is a little bitch. but anyway, maybe ill do a different one just for moments that destroyed me and focus on lighter ones here

5. "if you're my friend you'll have to take care of me in every way"

ray was upfront about what the sandray dynamic would be from the beginning there was no pretending it would be anything else lmao. as an enjoyer of "fucked up character who thinks theyre unlovable meets character who is predestined to love and care for them in ways they couldn't imagine", i was immidiately hooked. like a goner. i knew at this moment they would destroy me and i was right. (also if this was a top sandray moments list that cigarette kiss would be number 1, i watched it 7 times in a row last night, altered my brain chemistry again)

4. making sand undress him in the dressing room

the way he just stands there with his hands in the air smiling, fantastic. 10/10 little prince moment

3. let me sleep hereeeeeeeee

the way he barges into the camper in the middle of the night, inserts himself between sand and nick, fights off sand trying to push him off the bed, just to lay down in his spot and wrapping himself around sand. the little "good night nick". perfect. makes me kick my feet and giggle every time

great ongoing bit, one that we havent seen as much recently but still very important to me. just pathetic and annoying and perfect

if i had a nickel for everytime ray suggested/implied a threesome id have 5 FUCKING NICKELS. but really, the first time it happened in ep 2 i was like oh? then when it happened again in episode 5 i was at first too into sandray to initially appreciate it but eventually started to come around to it only for sandray to be too in love for summer to handle. in ep 8, it was clear freddie/freddie/ray was never gonna happen but i was so happy they brought the bit back, i was like wow i forgot about the other two times this was a funny bit for them to make a callback to. when he suggests it a FOURTH time in ep 9, i mean give the man what he wants. which i thought would happen with boeing, but we have yet to see....

the second female lead has already slapped someone 4 times. this is a ratio of approximately one slap per every 6 minutes thus far, which i think is somehow more than her actual screentime???

the male lead has given the female lead a concussion, amnesia as a result of the concussion, apparently killed her whole family using the pretense of marriage in a segment that was given the narrative gravitas of 1min 45 seconds, force fed the female lead, chained her to the bed, made her wear fucking manacles to serve him drinks? what the everloving fuck is happening?

the female lead is like 90% adrenaline and maybe a generous .5% thought. im kind of for this tbh let the ladies be stupid action shounen protagonists for once

i havent met the second male lead yet but i see from the credits he has glasses and a military uniform so i already 100% know who this guy is and what he’s about

MURDER DRONES RAMBLE ‼️spoilers for eps 1-5‼️

i have GOT to talk about this show bc i have soo many thoughts. a lot of this is gonna be rambling about my pet peeves and plot holes and what i wished happen though (keep in mind this is with the knowledge up to episode 5, i havent watched farther than that)

feel free to discuss these points with me!! id love to hear other perspectives on it!! (please dont give me spoilers past episode 5 though!!!)

ALSO! i am in no way saying this is a bad show. its amazing and i cant wait to see more, plus obviously its an indie show and its got a small budget and all that stuff

so far my biggest pet peeves are the fact that the show doesnt seem to take itself seriously enough, and the way uzi is written

the whole "not taking itself seriously" thing REALLY shows in episode 4. the whole time all this super crazy stuff is happening and the jokes just ruin it. take the moment where Rebecca is crawling back to the campfire, LITERALLY CUT IN HALF

this is a BIG moment, scary, suspenseful, all that jazz. and imagine how terrifying and traumatizing it would be to see your friend crawl back to you, NOT IN ONE PIECE

but the moment gets really ruined by the "forgot name. not popular" joke. it makes what couldve been a creepy horror moment into a lame, kind of awkward joke.

then you have the scene where uzi is chasing all the campers. HUGE, RIGHT? i mean shes become this mutated, bird like eldritch horror creature, and shes "lost control of herself", murdering the people she knows (obviously shes not super close with these people but. murder is big no matter what)

this should be TERRIFYING!! its huge dude, uzi is running rampant, murdering and eating robots, scaling the trees!!!

and it just gets. kind of smushed by the jokes.

i will admit, they did a *little* better with this scene. so props to that! but still. ouch.

now onto uzis character

she could be SO complex. i mean imagine living your life hating the murder drones, only to end up becoming friends with one, and then realizing ur actually really similar to them (needing to eat people blah blah), to finding out you have powers, you have to eat robots, all that stuff

and so much of her big character moments are small and shrugged off really quick.

take her powers for example. she learned to use them like. right after she found out she had them

i could get it maybe if they just alluded to maybe her learning? or at least made it to where it was a situation where she HAD to use her powers (a fight scene, maybe a scene where n was gonna get hurt?)

but it was all stuff she could do herself, like picking up papers and opening doors

so i think its safe to say we couldve kept a whole "idk how to use these brand new powers" thing going for an episode or two.

"but they needed her to use her powers so it triggered the over heating" i hear u and that makes sense. however, they couldve kept this!!

so she breaks the mirror, fixes the bug. fixing the bug couldve been an "experimental" moment with her powers (thanks reeses for that idea) instead of smth she just. knew how to do. all of this couldve triggered the over heat. dont forget, shes new to these powers! she might not have built up the "stamina" for it yet, so using it these couple of times might be too much for her

she has the moment with v, blah blah, leave the powers out until the arrow scene. then her powers trigger again! she was about to get hurt, it would make sense. then boom, overheat again (remember, considering shes brand new to these powers, this is a lot!)

she runs away, maybe opens the door with her powers (though its kinda unnecessary, i could kinda see it considering shes got all the adrenaline going)

then we have the murder scene, which ive already talked about

then afterwards, its all resolved REALLY quickly.

murdering people you know, even if you didnt like them/know them, is never easy on anybody. literally the whole reason she hated the murder drones was because they killed her people. and the whole reason she excepted them now, was because they decided to STOP killing people.

but its just kind of a whole "oh well!" situation and it! bothered me!!!

i mean, they couldve gone SOOO many routes with the murder scene.

maybe a scene where n comforts her and helps her through the trauma of killing someone? maybe where the people around her struggle to except her again bc shes changed?

my personal favorite is where n attempts to comfort her because shes killed someone, and she makes a comment along the lines of "im not like you!" (but yk. more hurtful and angsty and close to home for n)

this could further her isolation, which could build on how she might see this new version of herself

it could also open the doors for an uzi/doll interaction where doll tries to reach out and help uzi, making uzi conflicted on what side she should actually be on.

but, i digress

now lets get onto the smaller stuff that doesnt really matter (its really just personal peeves)

i wish we got more on the murder drones being excepted into the worker drone society. this kinda falls under "the show doesnt take itself seriously"

i mean, these drones killed their family and friends but, "oh yeah, they said they wont and now we love them!"

this couldve been really good development for v and n but they just move on so quickly. also they brushed past all those missing campers super quick

i wish we got to see more of lizzy and dolls relationship. why were they close? did lizzy feel conflicted about working with uzi and the others instead of doll? (idk maybe im biased cuz i think doll and lizzy should kiss but thats besides the point)

i think that might be everything!!! ill probably make a more positive post too bc I DID LIKE THIS SHOW!!! its soo silly and im really liking it

will i ever get over the bad buddy rooftop kiss?

short answer : no

long answer : after 30 consecutive days where i watched at least 2 bad buddy episodes per day i had decided to take a break for today, and a few more days to refresh my brain. but the forces that be had other plans cos idek from where i saw a snippet of their rooftop convo and i had to go back and watch episode 5 3/4 and 4/4 again and to no one's surprise i keep finding more and more things to appreciate about that episode.

this post isn't to analyze anything from that episode as people far more intelligent, eloquent and observant than me have done before 100 times of before.

i just wanted to do a (in awe) rant of the episode 5 of bad buddy. a true masterclass in story telling, directing, acting and emoting and ofc how can i forget using music as a narrative tool, especially in the scene where pran performs the song and pat now listens to it in the full context of his own feelings and then the patpran wai scene and most importantly in the rooftop scene where the music plays such an important role in building and then maintaining that tension!!

it's such an excellent piece of work because i've watched this already 10 times at least and i literally discovered the show just a month ago. i already know how everything is going to end. i literally just rewatched ep 11 and 12 yesterday. i know its all building upto something far more happy than sad in the end. AND YET.

And yet my heart was in my throat, my eyes were glued to their faces and their micro expressions, i was still in awe at their performance, at the words exchanged both audible and not, and the music behind adding to the' edge of the seat clutching of pillow' experience then the kiss happens and im as shook as the day i saw it.

I genuinely cannot remember the last time or if ever i had an experience of rewatching a (romantic) scene and it's impact gets reinforced and amplified each time i watch it in the way the bad buddy rooftop scene has done it.

that too the fact that i haven't given my brain time to forget the sheen of it, the brilliance of it, the impact of it, the fact that the kiss is a microcosm of their whole story, but even without all of that, that kiss by itself was to say the very least life changing.

my brain hasn't forgotten any of that. i havent allowed it to forget. so then me watching it again so close should not be having this effect on it. and yet.

and i just know that if i hit the replay button again this very instant i will feel all of those emotions all over again. that just boggles my mind, cos what is the explanation for it. logically i should be not this into it each time i watch it. why is hedonistic adaptation not doing its thing? it really do be making no sense to me. i guess this is once again a testament to how great of a show it is, how even beyond all the ingredients we can point out, the actors, the director, the writing , music everything, there has to be some unexplainable magic involved. the kind of magic that i highly doubt can be replicated anywhere. the kinda magic that makes even evolutionary responses bend to its will. solid stuff. 12/10 would recommend.

I havent seen S6 again since i saw it when it aired... It is just too painful and horrible.. you can bet your top dollar it was directed at the k/aine fandom and the actors.. San/tana's speech? I don't even read it if i come across .. it just shows you how pathetically immature the producers ans writers were that they would write and air something like that... Even the thay season gave us married k/laine it still isn't close to what they deserved

Other than our comewatchklaine rewatches - and those only included a combo video of the short worthwhile moments from the first 7 episodes, the wedding one, and the finale - I have not had any interest in seeing season 6 again since the show ended. And I honestly don't see that ever changing. I have the DVDs of the first 5 seasons but can't bring myself to spend actual dollars on those final 13 episodes. I don't even have any morbid curiosity about it - like what if its not as bad as I remember - because I know that it is and I don't need to relive that aggravation. And now this dumb show is going to be staring at me every time I open Disney+. Ugh.

What irked me then and still pisses me off now is that we all knew this was it. It wasn't like season 4 where we had the time to correct this, even if it was inherently painful getting to the other side. The show hadn't completely collapsed in on itself at that point so we still had some hope that they would put things right again and we'd get our Klaine back. THIS WAS IT. There was going to be no more and these 13 shows were all that we had. 13 weeks to wrap up 5 seasons of story for an already bloated cast. So instead of spending any time on that, they practically rebooted the show by going back to Ohio and giving us the bullshit nonsense of a new glee club and new Warblers, thereby negating all of the progress they'd made in the last half of season 5 by finally dumping the dead weight of Lima that was holding it back. We got new characters I was never going to care about or invest in because they weren't going to be around long enough to matter. Time spent on them was time away from the original cast that I was invested in and would have at least had a fleeting interest in seeing where they landed. More woe is me Rachel bullshit where she played the victim even though all of her problems were of her own making - and we all know that means we're getting riveting scenes where Kurt steps into help her even though she's never deserved him or his friendship. So his story was basically stalled and went nowhere, as did Blaine's. Instead of watching them begin to build their life together in NYC, we saw them broken and apart and miserable and stuck in yet another hellish limbo. They danced around each other over and over again and made no progress whatsoever week after week while we watched the episodes tick away, knowing we only had a finite number to work with. It was awkward and painful to watch and I can't imagine it could have been much better for the actors to perform. I will always believe that they only threw that big double gay wedding so they could be all "look at us look at how cool and progressive we are" and also to shut us up. Because those of us who were here then - we were effing pissed off. And not quiet about it at all. So they put them back together in the most unsatisfying 2 minute scene you'll ever see and then married them off just as quickly like they wanted to get it over and done with.  This was, of course, followed by Klaine completely disappearing from the show in the next ep, Dalton burning down in the one after that, and the boys having fuck all to do for the rest of the series.  Is it any wonder I’d like to wipe these eps from my memory and forget they ever existed?

Santana’s speech?  The people who wrote that and anyone who thought and still thinks it was funny and edgy and deserved can fuck all the way off.  All the way and keep fucking off until the end of time.  It was cruel and vile and what made it truly despicable was that it was intentionally aimed at C.  Not Kurt.  C.  They used the guise of the show to insult C by taking all of the things that he was vocally self conscious about and turning them into cannon fodder.  I was disgusted by it and the people behind it.  The fact that Naya had said that she hated having to say all that tells me all I need to know.  Keep in mind: this was an actor who they at one point liked so much that RM created a character for him to play who was not part of the original group they were casting for.  Kurt was created specifically for C to play.  You don’t do that for an unknown 18 year old actor if you don’t see something special in them and believe in their ability to bring it to life.  That rant was just the culmination of a long downward spiral in Kurt’s profile on the show.  As the show moved through its later seasons, he had less to do and his story became more and more back burnered.  Unless you count cleaning up after Rachel a vital and important storyline?  I sure as hell don’t.  

Its pretty well known - especially now - that this show had one of the more dysfunctional behind the scenes that you’ll ever find.  The insane rehearsal schedule, a showrunner with an oversized ego that didn’t actually care about any of his actors, and a “star” character played by an actress with a jealous toxic streak a mile long - you combine all of that and it couldn’t have been a very happy working environment.  Naya’s book aside, there was just too much that spilled from that set to make me believe otherwise.  And that’s something that all of those little tiktok and twitter teens will never understand and one of the many reasons I find them all utterly ridiculous and impossible to take seriously. They don’t know any of this because they weren’t here for it.  They are going by what they are spoon fed and what they seem hell bent on believing no matter how eye rollingly dumb it makes them look.  You can catch up on the show itself via streaming but it’ll never be the same experience that those of who watched it live had.  In addition to punishing us, I am sure that the attempted assassination of Klaine and Blaine’s character and the sidelining of Kurt was aimed at the actors who played them.  Instead of leaning into the show’s best advertisement, they ignored them, pushed them aide and actively seemed to do everything they could to keep them apart.  There was no good storyline reason for Klaine to have spent the majority of the last 3 seasons of the show away from each other, both physically and emotionally.  The old adage of “happy couples don’t sell” works the other way too: miserable couples don’t bring in the viewers either.  All it does is alienate the existing ones who eventually move from annoyed to pissed off to eff this show I am done.  I’ve dropped many a show in the past for reasons like that and its part of why I refuse to get involved in any other RM shows.  I know the TV landscape has changed from what it was 10, 11 years ago, but it still hurts to watch actors who play LGBT couples now be allowed to interact on SM and do interviews and bts stuff together and promote the couple they play like its no big deal.  Like any other couple you’d see and that’s all I ever wanted for my boys.  We had it for a little while in season 2 and the beginning of season 3 and then it slowly disappeared and that’s not suspicious to anyone?  If anything, they should have been more prominent now that they were together at McKinley but instead they spent far too much time as background pieces in the choir room with maybe an “ooh lucky us” fleeting smile or “heaven help us” getting to sit next to each other.  And forget about touching or showing any kind of physical affection unless it was a designated very special episode.  

We deserved so much better.  Klaine deserved so much better.  C and D deserved a helluva lot better.  That whole last season has tainted this show for me; I can’t think of it overall without remembering how much time was wasted.  Time we would never get back.  Time spent on a gross there just to fuck with all of us rebound from a break up that never needed to happen instead of discussions about flowers and seating charts and who’s going to get the unlucky job of keeping Rachel from hogging the mic all night.  A wedding - a real wedding, not that thrown together half assed embarrassment we got - would have gone a long way to at least tempering my seething hatred of season 6.  Suits Kurt designed, rings they picked out themselves, vows they wrote that weren’t laughable, a first dance, a duet reprise of Come Way May, lots of them smiling goofily at each other, and perhaps a shot of one of them pulling the other into the honeymoon suite by his tie and throwing the do not disturb sign on the handle as he shuts the door.  I’m reeling just thinking about it, imagine actually getting to have seen it?

But alas no because - all together now - this fucking show.
