I like to think during the early years of the Coven System, Belos hand picked his Coven Heads out of their great skill and abilities, as he has spent years observing them to deduce which are the best candidates for his goals.

If my math is correct—don’t quote me on this—Terra, Hettie with possibly Vitimir and Osran were the initial hand picked by him after observing them. They would have been selected within the first ten years of Coven system being enacted given their ages of how they look.

To him they represent not only the strongest on the Boiling Isles, but also how he perceives witches as being monsters he was always taught they were. Think about it, Snapdragon was willing to have children battle to the death or just straight up kill them. Cutburn has been described by the writers as a killer and she moves with unparalleled swiftness. Then by how he’s heard of Vitimir’s insides were in passing conversation, he would instantly be disgusted by him. Osran…Osran just freaked him out. What if their selection was deliberate?

What if he wanted to keep them close because he felt they would pose somewhat of a threat to him given their personalities?

“Tell me…Do you know how many nerve endings are in your pinkie toe, Scout?” Cutburn whispered, as she held the Scout’s pinkie to between her fingers.

“I-I please…I didn’t…I’m sorry, Ma’am!” The Scout begged, tears seeping from his helmet. “I won’t come again! Please don—!”

The Scout was cut off by a loud scream, as pain shoot through his body. He squirmed under the restraints.

“You know how it is, Scout…” she hummed, as she glanced to her tray. “The Emperor despises weakness within his Coven…Surely you know how fix yourself by now?”

The Scout didn’t respond as he laid there and sobbed.

“Would you like a first hand lesson, hmm? I do enjoy giving…” She selected a small scalpel as she turned to her subject. “…live demonstrations.”

“Pleas! Please! Please I’m sorry!”

“Now, now, where’s lesson in begging? Now…remain still for me…”

“Now, dearest Cutburn,” a soft voice echoed through the room. “I cannot have you wasting my Scouts, can I?”

The Coven Head straightened, as she turned to the source of the voice.

She bowed. “My Lord.”

Soft footsteps echoed against the marble floor, as the hem of a white robes entered the light.

“What am I to do with you?” Belos sighs, as he glanced pass her to one of his Scout strapped to the medical table. “Then again…Terra isn’t any better, is she?”

“We keep score, my Lord.” Cutburn answered, smiling.

He shakes his head slightly. “How will it reflect our reputation should the Scouts and recruits feel frightened of my Coven?”

“I only meant to provide a lesson and example, Emperor Belos.” She said, bowing once more.

“If you both keep killing my Scouts, I will lose my foothold…” he gazed absently at the sobbing Scout once more. We can’t have that, can we?”

“I understand, my apologies.”

“Good…you shall both leave the examples to me…” he turns away from them. “As for the lesson…you may continue. He needs to learn after all.”

“Of course, my Lord.” She turns back to her subject.

“Just be sure to fix your mess after you are done, Cutburn.” He ordered from the darkness.

“As you wish, Emperor.”

I like to think Belos is disgusted by observing Cutburn during that blurb as it reinforces to him that he’s right…the Witches are monsters, but when in actuality they are not and he’s just a narcissistic man child who refused to grow. He finds Snapdragon and Cutburn’s deception, cruelty and manipulation admirable, but meaningless as he cares little of or for them. He held them by firm leashes as to not stray too far from the plan. They are just means to his goal and will be amongst the first to feel true pain on the Day of Unity.

Speaking of Day of Unity, do you think that he internally counted the days when his loyalists and most powerful subordinates died on the Day of Unity? We know he lied to them of the Day of Unity because he’s a manipulative, two faced backstabber; but do you think of hearing every terrible thing these people did or hurt which reinforced his toxic thinking as he kept reminding himself he needed them possibly for the Day of Unity? That he even more believe twisted that he was killing the worst of the worst Witches to protect humanity? I mean he’s a delusional monster, he probably did believe it. I only like Belos as villain, I don’t think he’s a good person. He’s horrible. Please don’t take what I am saying the wrong way.

Honestly there are many ways to discuss the chain of command in this oppressive system.

Steve:

💔: I like to think if Steve was a Scout Captain,he would have lost his squadron six months to a year after being approved for one. He was so excited to be taking his next steps in life, but after his overconfidence got them killed on high tier mission, he felt nothing but guilt and sadness. He asked Lilith to be demoted to Coven Scout following the incident as he didn’t feel as though he deserved to be Captain anymore.

Vitimir:

💤: Vitimir gets so caught up in his work, he barely registers how much time goes by. It also doesn’t help that his office is always dark save for several candles, a\dressers upon dressers line the walls, blocking the window so it make it impossible to tell it’s night or morning. Sometimes those under him come the next day and ask him if he went to bed. He did not.

If does sleep, he sleep with a night hat to keep his head warm and sleeping mask. Also, he doesn’t brush his teeth at night. He sometimes gets out of bed to get water before immediately goes back to bed. His preferred sleeping on his side with one to two blankets for warmth.

🪀:Now for silly...I say if I ever did an AU with him is if he went to the human realm during the 1960s-1980s and discovered humans made potions too. He would come back explain how the humans had these cool potions that made you see colours except you have eat a small capsule.

Vitimir: They were chanting about the highway to hell.

Terra: Highway to what?

Vitimir: Hell, Terra. Keep up. Now I wanna learn how the humans made small potions. Can I go back?

Hettie:

📦: I think if the series wasn’t cut short, Hettie Cutburn would’ve been third in the most sadistic antagonist second to Terra Snapdragon in terms of Coven Heads. A story boarder described her a sadist murderer type as seen when she throws a scalpel at Eberwolf during the Day of Unity. Unlike Terra though, she isn’t always willing to kill, as she will only do it if you Belos or you unfortunately wounded up on her operating table after a failed mission. She also has a stone cold exterior and doesn’t have a playful attitude. If the series had more time, I wonder how Cutburn and Snapdragon would play off of each other with Cutburn dry boredom against Snapdragon’s more sadistically playful attitude.

Lilith:

🔔: I am probably gonna get hate for this but...I am not the biggest fan of degrading Lilith to solely comedy as I feel as though she can be an interesting character. Sure she can have fun sibling banter with Eda, but they implied more with her. I love her exploring history, but I sometimes wonder if she goes on fight flight due to EC training. Like I headcanon her as someone who hates it when people sneak up on her and she won’t hesitate to attack. It’s great that she cn tell Phillip felt manipulative during Elsewhere and Elsewhen, but I wish got a bit more or other aspects. I think she is a fascinating character.

Terra:

📝: She full knows there is something off about herself but doesn’t feel bad about it as she enjoys revelling in her villainy at a young age. She always felt like an outsider compared to others in Boiling Isles prior to Belos’ rule. Like I said previously, I believe Belos hand picked his initial Coven Heads, as he believed that Snapdragon represented what he saw in Witches so he strokes his own ego instead of seeing them for who they actual are. Snapdragon was happy that someone understood villainy and didn’t detest her for it, but didn’t know she was playing into what Belos believed Witches actual were. Dangerous, sadistic and prey on children. All the negative things he was taught, Snapdragon does. She still is evil, they both are.
