Grey's Anatomy: Drawn to the Blood (15x24)
This was such a great penultimate episode. Grey's Anatomy sure knows how to set up its crazy finales!
Cons;
Does anyone want to venture a guess as to what I'm about to complain about? Apparently Teddy has had a revelation that Owen is the great love of her life. She rushes to tell him, but finds Amelia in Owen's apartment with Leo instead. I realized this was coming when Owen was helping the agoraphobic blood donor and Teddy had this look on her face like she was mooning for him. And then later she gives Tom this really fond look that's clearly telling us she's getting ready to say goodbye. And then Kari, the paraplegic woman with her kid Toby, remind Teddy to "seize the day" or whatever. This whole time, I've been getting more and more invested in Teddy/Tom, knowing full well that this was a good possibility. But the thing is, I think Owen and Teddy make each other worse. It's not fun or romantic to watch. Teddy may be right that Owen is the only all-consuming passionate love she'll ever experience, but that kind of love is sort of poisonous, and Teddy is being a jerk to Tom, and Owen is not worth all of this. I'm frustrated.
Pros:
The good news is, the stuff with Teddy's love life was the only part of this episode that I didn't thoroughly enjoy and appreciate. The rest was pretty great.
First of all, you've got Jo. Alex sends in the big guns to try and help figure out what's going on: Meredith. She stays with Jo and finally gets her to talk about how she's feeling. Meredith shares experiences of her own trauma to help Jo come to terms with what she's facing, and they make a plan to get Jo the help she needs. I loved seeing Meredith play this role for Jo. Obviously Alex is desperate to help his wife, but Meredith really is the OG twisted sister. She knows how to pull people out of the darkness, because of how long she's spent there herself. I really appreciate how careful they're being with Jo's story. It's not the kind of melodramatic thing that gets solved immediately. Even now, with this breakthrough, we're just seeing the beginning of a healing journey. Jo is willing to start the work of getting better, but that's not the same thing as everything being magically fixed all at once.
Maggie and Jackson are camping, and Maggie hates it, but she's trying to be enthusiastic for Jackson's sake. While I don't think I'll ever totally love this couple, this was another moment where I grudgingly admit that they're not pissing me off like they used to. It's sweet that Maggie tries to share in Jackson's passion, and I like that Jackson wants her to enjoy it, but also isn't unduly upset that she's not 100% on board. It's a good balance. Maybe camping can be a very occasional thing for them. Maybe they can try glamping. I also like that this plot thread provided some much-needed levity to the episode, although of course things are pretty dire by the time the episode ends.
Bailey and Catherine spend the entire day in the board room, and everyone is freaking out about what's going on. Turns out, it's about the patient that Meredith committed insurance fraud to save. Andrew ends up taking the fall for her, to Meredith's horror. I loved everything about this setup, because we see that Meredith has been avoiding Andrew after the whole "I love you" thing, but that it's not an overly dramatic or painful separation situation. They're in an uncertain period, on the precipice between two people dating and two people in a serious relationship. And now, in true Grey's fashion, a serious obstacle has popped up to prevent their happiness. I loved the moment of Andrew and Meredith talking through the window in the hyperbaric chamber. Andrew makes a point to bring up Meredith's kids, to emphasize that this is for their sake. I am all emotional. I can't wait to see what happens from here.
It looks like another person with "golden blood" has been discovered to help Gus, but this woman, Frances, is severely agoraphobic. Schmitt and Owen have to work to help her get off the plane and come to the hospital. Meanwhile, Gus's father falls on Legos and breaks his butt, to general hilarity. I loved everything about this setup and payoff because it was the right mix of absurd and tragic. Poor Gus is really struggling, and of course we just want to shake Frances and tell her to get her ass to the hospital. But the actress playing Frances did an incredible job imbuing that character with pathos. I felt her pain and her fear, right alongside Gus and his parents. And then there's the broken butt, and the weird catharsis that comes from having something else to worry about for a moment.
Since it looks like Teddy/Owen is ramping up, I guess I'm going to have to get on board with Amelia/Link as a serious thing. Honestly, this episode was a good one for them. We see that Link is starting to take this all a bit more seriously, and he's clear and communicative about how he's feeling. Amelia is similarly level-headed about the whole thing, and it looks like the two of them are going to have a talk about their feelings soon. As I've stated in the past, I don't like Owen much. So I wasn't necessarily looking forward to seeing him with Amelia or Teddy. I guess the best I can hope for in whatever's coming next, is that one of these women can find happiness with someone who deserves them, and I think Link is a good guy.
I should also mention, just as a tidbit: we see that Nico is still in a really bad place, failing to see the humor in the broken butt situation. I hope that he and Levi have some sort of moment in the finale next week, because I really do root for them.
The setup for next week's finale is brilliant. As all of the drama escalates, we end up seeing various characters stuck in awful circumstances, as fog blankets all of Seattle. Jackson and Maggie are in the woods, camping, with no way of getting home. Meredith and Alex have just stepped in to the hyperbaric chamber with Gus, waiting desperately for the magic blood that can save him. And that blood? It's in a woman who is stuck in a car with Owen and Levi, while cars crash all around and into them on a blindingly foggy road. Meanwhile, Teddy has gone into labor, and Amelia is the only one there to help. Andrew is being arrested, Jo is still in crisis, and things are, generally speaking, bad. For everyone involved.
That's the making of an exciting finale next week, and I'm eagerly awaiting it!

Review of 14x06 “Come on Down to My Boat, Baby”
Unlike the show, this review is NOT brought to you by Lexus, so you won’t have to sit through any obvious product placement.
Omelia – I know that I have made my feelings on this storyline fairly personal, but I am not able to watch a story about a character having a brain tumor and not relate it to my own experiences.  We connect to these characters on a personal level. That is one of the reasons so many of us are so invested in the show.  We see ourselves in these characters and they are telling human stories that we have experienced.  Sometimes we don’t like the outcome, but we get that every experience is different and accept it.  But I can’t do that with this story.  Using Amelia’s brain tumor as an exit plan from Omelia’s marriage is disrespectful to everyone who has actually had a brain tumor.  As I said last week, even if Amelia’s tumor was asymptomatic, the idea that it affected her judgement in marriage but not in surgery is absurd. And if I hear the line, “You married a tumor,” one more time, I might throw something through the TV.  Amelia was not a tumor.  She was a human being with thoughts and emotions and feelings who happened to have a brain tumor.  When Owen married her, he married the woman he loved, not a tumor.  When I drove nine hours to say good-bye to my dad, I was saying good-bye to the man who raised me and loved me, not a tumor. Reducing the character of Amelia to simply being a tumor, implies that all people suffering from brain tumors are simply a tumor and that their actions are not their own because they have no idea what they are really doing.  That’s bullshit and lazy writing.  If they want me as an audience member to believe that Amelia couldn’t have really loved Owen because of the tumor, what does that tell me I should believe about my dad’s feelings for me?  Should I believe that the last time he told me he loved me was just a reflexive response of his brain tumor?  And if Amelia’s love for Owen isn’t real because of the tumor, does that mean her love for Mer and Maggie was a tumor symptom as well?  Amelia tells Owen at the beginning of the episode that they should blame the tumor for the bad and keep the good.  Or how about they write a storyline where the characters deal with and process the bad?  Let Amelia come to terms with losing her son and give her a way to work through that. Because that “bad” had nothing to do with the tumor.  Or acknowledge that even with a brain tumor, Amelia knew Owen so well, that she knew he was experiencing PTSD when he was told Megan was alive and then tried to come to work.  That “good” happened regardless of the tumor.  But instead we get Owen hooking up with Carina and Amelia hooking up with Koracick so the audience can take bets on who will accidentally get pregnant first. Maybe it will be Carina and we can re-do the Calzona/Sloan story.  Or maybe Amelia and Catherine Avery can have a “fun” scene where they discuss how Koracick is in bed.  Break Omelia up so they can “be happy” and sleep around.  Whatever.  But stop using a brain tumor as the catalyst for a lazy story.
Meredith – Is there anyone who thinks she isn’t going to win the Harper Avery?  I’m good either way, but I hope they plan to explain why in season 10 Cristina was told no one from Grey-Sloan would ever win before they hand Meredith her big, shiny trophy.  And if Mer does win one, other doctors better be winning right behind her.  *cough* Miranda Bailey *cough*  Also, Meredith being nice to Jo was creepy because Meredith hasn’t been nice to anyone except Alex for years.
Boys on a Boat – When the promotional photos for this started leaking back in August, I was excited. We haven’t seen the doctors actually being friends very often in the last few seasons, so I thought this would be good.  It SHOULD have been good.  Sigh.  I wanted lighthearted hanging out, and instead we got a forced conversation about how close is too close to sleep with someone you consider a sister and some questionable acting.  All this so Jackson could say he can’t buy happiness and for Warren to announce that he is joining the fire academy?  Jackson has been happy for years, so they can keep their forced “Jackson needs to do some soul-searching” storyline, and Ben’s announcement felt like an eight- year-old telling his friends he was going to ring a doorbell and run, but they better not tell his mom.  This guy’s day was a complete letdown.  I’m with April.  She gets shot, and they get a sick day?!  Jackson using his money to create a new surgical competition is…fine, I guess. Although, I think it would have seemed more in character for him to use it for research on skin grafting or OI.  And they act like the Harper Avery is the only award in the country for surgeons.  Can’t Jackson win a different award?  But sure, fine.  I think a surgical competition between the attendings could be an interesting story to watch, but I am not getting my hopes up that this is what will happen, and even if it does, that it will even be good.  (My Japril heart is hoping that Japril filming a scene together in 14x10?? means they will be working on this together, but could we get that lucky?)
April – As much as it seems weird that her story is right back where it was a year ago with her swiping left and right on Tinder, I am actually fine with it.  It seems pretty clear that something happened in the writer’s room last year after 13x07 and the story of April dating that the show had hinted at was dropped and, instead, Japril was thrown into the middle of the Eliza fiasco that should have never happened.  I know not every Japril fan agrees, but I am fine with April dating as long as nothing serious comes from it.  Everything April said about herself in 13x07 is true. She is “super date-worthy.” Hell, I would date her.  So, while Jackson is off having his mid-life crisis, April deserves some attention.  And really, whether we want it or not, I would say it is coming since this is the second time it has been brought up.  Either way, can the girl get a real storyline?  Sarah Drew is too damn talented to not have a lead story on this show. And was there a point to her getting shot?  There was some SERIOUS blood contamination in that scene considering the bullet came out of the patient’s body, hit her, and then Bailey rubbed her bloody glove all over April’s wound when she realized April was shot.  If it were any other character I might think something would come from this, but since it’s April, I’m going to guess it was just something that was missed in editing/writing/directing.
Maggie – I just can’t. I want to like her because I’m sure Kelly is a sweet, sweet person.  But the writing just makes her so unlikeable.  Don’t let her spend the whole episode talking about how she needs to date, have a perfectly suitable man come to take her on a date, and then have her literally throw herself on the ground as a reaction to seeing him. It’s not remotely funny or cute at this point.  And then she makes weepy eyes at Jackson five minutes later?  How about they write her a storyline where she deals with her daddy issues that make her attracted to men that are attached to her friends/family/colleagues in some way?  She needs a personal growth storyline more than any other character on the show, and she is one of the few who isn’t getting one.  April, Jackson, Mer, Amelia, and Owen are all alone to find their own personal happiness and Maggie is still out there wandering from crush to crush without dealing with the real reasons she can’t have a lasting relationship.
Jolex – They are adorable, and I am all for their happiness.  I would also be all for Alex having an actual storyline.  His main role this season has been to support Jo, which he should be doing, but I want him to have more.  And maybe he will once Paul shows up in a couple episodes, so for now, I will just be hopeful that is coming for him.  And Jo should have been Chief Resident two seasons ago.  Instead they were too busy saying how much better Stephanie was than her, and now that there are literally no other residents left, they are giving her recognition.  Eye roll, but yes give Jo credit for being a great doctor because she is.  So, let her be Chief Resident, let her divorce her abusive ex, and let Jo and Alex be happy.  But this is Grey’s Anatomy, so all of those things coming true is doubtful.

Who do you hate the most on Grey's Anatomy and why? Who do you miss the most and who do you love the most? I'm curious since you watch the show.
Loaded question :p First, let me tell you I loooooove this show. At this point, it’s the show I’ve watched the longest, since I was in high school and I love how they managed to reinvent themselves after a short walk in the dark around season 4/5 (in my humble opinion) so this will be probably longer than you bargained for and it might contain unpopular opinions.
Who do I hate the most and why?
My spontaneous answer to that will always be Arizona. I know a lot of people love her but... I will try to be clear. As an individual character, I don’t exactly mind her. She’s a badass woman, a kickass surgeon and she’s a kind soul. But her relationship with Callie made me hate her. From the start, let’s be clear, not just after the plane crash. I think Arizona is someone who never really had a to question her sexuality, she is very confident in her identity (which is great to see on TV and it’s as it should be really) but the way she behaves with Callie for instance... She never really respected the fact that she was bi and she was selfish, always so selfish. And she cheated on her. And Callie deserved better. My dislike for her roots from there, Callie - who I looooove so much - deserved someone who would love her without condition.
Now, though, I need to add a special mention for Jo. It started well with her. I liked her, I was rooting for her and Alex... But, then. Disaster. I understand she has had traumatic experiences in the past but it can’t always be used as excuses. And that’s what the show is doing. She’s automatically blameless because she has a traumatic past and... No. It doesn’t work that way. I will forever be pissed about her reaction after the DeLucas thing.
I might be biaised because I love Alex. What he did is in no way acceptable but from his perspective, one of the first things he tells Meredith is that he thought Delucas was attacking Jo. Jo was drunk, half naked, he was looming over her and he had her top in his hands if I’m not mistaken. Alex thought he was about to rape her. He went into protective mode over his girlfriend. So it doesn’t warrant beating someone up to a pulp because he’s innocent but if it had been real, everyone would have cheered at him.
Anyway, the thing is. Jo never really gives him a chance to explain himself. Jo spent weeks (months?) refusing to marry him without giving a proper explanation. The only moment she tells her secret is when she is scared of having to confess in a trial - so it’s not out of trust but out of fear. If she doesn’t trust Alex how can she pretend to love him? He was ready to go to jail for her. She wasn’t committed enough to trust him with her past.
So maybe she’s not there yet but the fact is, I love Alex and he deserves better. He wants a family life with kids and everything and Jo isn’t going to give him that any time soon.
And her character, as a whole, is very annoying right now? I’m not sure where they’re going with her but compared to the other interns... She’s not even that good? Edwards rocks. She should get more story time.
Who do you miss the most
Meredith who seems to have disappear from the show who bears her name? XD
More seriously, Christina. Christina was my fav from day 1. She’s brilliant and doesn’t apologize about it, she’s ambitious, she’s arrogant and flawed but oh so tough... Christina and Burke are one of my 3 OTP for this show (the others being April/Jackson and Mark/Lexie) (I don’t mind Owen but I’m not crazy about him, he’s a bit... entitled). I love her sooo much.
I miss Callie but I think Sarah was right to leave when she did. We have so many characters right now and they don’t all get enough time (Meredith). Callie would have been pushed to the sidelines.
I also miss Mark and Lexie but since the two of them had the best romance death on TV since Titanic, I will let that slide. I never mind people dying in stories/TV shows as long as it’s done right. And this one was done very right.
who do you love the most
I love them all deep down. Currently:
Alex and Meredith are probably my fav because they’re the oldest. And I also love their current dynamic. I always saw them as brother and sister but lately I think that shifted and I think it could be a beautiful friends to more love story. They would never be each other’s great love (that was Izzie and Dereck I guess) but it doesn’t always have to be love at first sight for people to be happy and  in love. It would be a nice story to tell though I have little hope of it playing out that way.
I used to love Miranda but her character development (which is good) make me relate to her less so I’m less invested with her.
Richard, of course, but I’m not really a fan of Catherine and their relationship...
April who is my beautiful kick ass baby.
Jackson because I just love how calm he always is, how soft he alway speaks... He’s a rock of a man.
And Maggie who I wasn’t sure about at first but who I now love so much.

Review of 14x04 “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head”
Sorry for the delay in posting!  Life.   Amelia - I mentioned this last week, but I want to say again how surprised I am that Amelia’s brain tumor story moved so quickly.  I guess her real story this year will be figuring out who she is without this tumor impacting her actions and decisions.  Marlana Hope is a welcome addition to the writing team after seeing how she wrote this particular story in this episode.  Dr. Koracick is arrogant but likable, Amelia’s reactions are realistic, and humor is interjected well for a story about such a tough topic.  April being Amelia’s POA and explaining, “What?  Was I supposed to say no?” added levity to a scene where Amelia said her good-byes to her loved ones.  “In this moment, I love you people tremendously.”  What a perfect line.  The scene transitions to Amelia and her team standing in the superhero pose, and Dr. Koracick speaks for all of us when he whispers, “I love this,” over the stunning instrumental music.  “With surgery, you worry that you won’t wake up.  With brain surgery, you worry that you will wake up, but you won’t be there when you do.”  That is a beautiful way to explain Amelia’s fear.  Who is she without this tumor?  Well, we are about to find out as we watch Dr. Koracick cut her tumor out while singing along to the Beach Boys.  The contrast of the music with the seriousness of the scene could not have been better.  Whoever chose the music for this episode should choose the music for the rest of the season.  After surgery, Amelia being aware of what was happening but not being able to communicate was terrifying to watch but a nice nod to Derek’s death.  I also thought Deluca  was a nice addition to this story.  He never quite found his place in seasons past, but so far, I like him in neuro with Amelia.  The scene where he forced her to sit in the chair because she made him promise to do so was brilliant.  Amelia screaming in her head while collapsed against his chest, weeping, was one of my favorite scenes of the night.
I think Caterina has done an amazing job with this story, but I have to mention my issues with the story as well.  Using a brain tumor to rewrite Amelia’s personality is frustrating to me. I didn’t think her personality was THAT bad, and it’s unrealistic.  My dad passed away from cancer a little over a month ago.  It spread to his brain, and he had his brain tumor removed in April.  His tumor may have been different from the one Amelia has, but brain tumors don’t just make people act a little odd.  They are debilitating.  They affect memory, speech, vision, and motor skills.  They don’t just cause you to make poor life choices..  I  know I have to look past reality to accept this story, and that’s fine because it’s a TV show, but a part of me wishes they hadn’t depicted brain tumors so inaccurately.
Bailey/Webber/Interns - Some of these scenes were funny, but I know we are all side-eyeing these new interns wondering how they are going to shake up Grey-Sloan Memorial.  Part of me doesn’t want to know.
Megan/Nathan/Meredith - I have been so impressed with how this story has been written.  I was not feeling Griggs last season, mainly because it was written so poorly.  This season has been just the opposite.  This story has been written so well that I want Nathan with both Megan and Meredith.  Not in a sister wives type way.  It’s just that they are all handling an unimaginable situation with maturity and class, and I want a happy ending for all of them.  Megan is incredibly likable.  She is understanding of Nathan moving on, she adopted an orphaned child and raised him in a war zone, and she has been through hell and back.  She deserves happiness.  Meredith has been understanding of Nathan’s history with Megan, she helped him bring Farouk to Megan, and she also has been through hell and back.  She deserves happiness.  I am genuinely interested to see how this story plays out.  I still assume Meredith will get the man in the end because she is Meredith, but if they keep writing this story this well, I will stay invested for as long as they want.  (Side note:  I like the parallel between Meredith telling Megan that she kidnapped her own daughter and then Meredith helping Nathan, in a way, kidnap Farouk.)
Catherine/Webber/Jackson/Koracick - I laughed out loud when Koracick said he wanted to make sure Jackson wasn’t his and Jackson said, “Nope,” and walked away.  I’m not entirely sure what the point of adding in the Koracick/Catherine connection was, but it was a funny little moment.
Jo/Alex - Either Jo is going to decide to put her name on the article despite her husband possibly finding her, or I think he will be at the Harper Avery awards.  He feels like a shadow closing in on Jolex.  We are all just waiting for him to step out of the darkness.  But what a refreshing switch it is to see Alex be her rock as opposed to last season when she feared Paul alone.  This is a more realistic portrayal of their relationship and who Alex is.
April/Arizona/Alex/Mer/Maggie scene - I like scenes like this.  I always have.  I think this particular scene is another way the writers are taking jabs at the terrible stories of last season.  Alex says, “I just wish I had a tumor to blame my stupid crap on,” and they proceed to yell out stories from last season that we could have done without. As if wishing all of them could be explained away by tumors.  “Deluca, I’m sorry I hit you. Tumor.” “Riggs. Tumor.” “Minnick!”  It was a subtle jab at the ridiculous writing of season 13.  Thanks Marlana.
Jackson/April/Maggie - After watching this week’s episode, I stand by what I said last week.  Jackson and April are both going to have individual journeys (for the most part) this season, but they will find their way back to each other.  I expect some of you to call me delusional or say I am wrong, but I only write what I see.  The first time we see Jackson and Maggie interact, she comments on his suit only to quickly realize he was at a funeral.  Again, I saw no flirting there.  And after she awkwardly walked away, Jackson very noticeably adjusted Alex’s collar.  I’m not sure how the writers/directors/show could send a more intentional message to the audience than that.  Jackson and Alex don’t touch.  That two second gesture was put in there in response to Maggie fixing Jackson’s collar.  Because that is what colleagues/friends do.  It doesn’t mean that Jackson wants to drag Alex to an on-call room, and it didn’t mean that for Maggie either.  Yes, they are intentionally toying with the audience by throwing stuff like that in there, but so many people are taking the bait and crazy tweeting about it, so why wouldn’t they?  That moment leads into Jackson’s talk with Meredith about the Harper Avery award, further supporting my thoughts from last week that Jackson will spend a good deal of the season figuring out what it means for him to be an Avery.  He is visibly annoyed that he cannot be considered for an award since he is a great surgeon and deserves recognition.
It was nice to see more of Webbery’s home.  How many of us have forgiven Catherine Avery all her sins after the way she seemed annoyed at Maggie’s very presence at their dinner?  We feel that on a spiritual level, Catherine. When Jackson walked in, he said, “Oh. Hey,” the way I greet acquaintances.  Again, nothing.  He looked a little surprised to see her maybe, but that’s about it.  And the couple of times he smiled at her in the episode did not scream romantic feeling to me.  She is his step-sister and friend.  He should smile at her.  It would be weird if he didn’t.  He smiled at Meredith the exact same way before stealing her chips.  Awkward, boring scenes aside, I think the main point of these scenes was for the audience to know how much money Jackson inherited.  The discussion centered around the money and what he should do with it.  I suspect we will see something come of Jackson inheriting this money.  This was brought up for a reason.
The scene that I think most people were so angered by was when Jackson said, “I appreciate you,” to Maggie.  Guys.  Come on.  If that was supposed to be a “moment” it would be the most lackluster romantic scene in the history of Grey’s   I appreciate you?  I appreciate the guy with one tooth who held the door open for me this morning.  I appreciate when my waitress refills my drink.  I appreciate when someone lets me merge on the interstate.  However, I have absolutely no romantic interest in any of these people.  That was not a Grey’s line that starts a romance.  Grey’s starts a romance by two people being drawn together in a bar, spending the night together, and then finding out he is her new boss.  Or two people connecting over their mutual understanding of what it means to lose the love of your life.  Or two people understanding that having demons in their past (drugs, ptsd) does mean you are unlovable.  Or two people who were beaten and broken down and told they were nothing can rise out of their circumstances.  Or best friends turning into soul mates who only need “me and you” to make it.  Epic love stories on Grey’s don’t begin with “I appreciate you.”
Were they thinking about it?  Yes.  April planted the idea in their heads, and they had to at least consider what the other was thinking or feeling.  But, once again, the writers called them family in this episode.  Catherine called Maggie his sister.  SISTER.  Last week, Harper called April his wife.  WIFE.  The writers are feeding us crumbs, and that is damn annoying, but no matter how little we are getting, there is a big difference between being called the sister and the wife when it comes to Grey’s writing.
Seeing April in the chapel just feels right.  And I love that Marlana covered all aspects of who April is - religious, a fiercely loving mother, funny, and someone who feels things deeply.  April is such a complex, well-developed character. Hearing April pray “Please don’t make me have to unplug her,” was both funny and true to her character.  She wants Amelia to survive, but she has the strength to do what she needs to if it comes down to it.  We also saw that April is continuing to evaluate her life, what she wants, what makes her happy, and where she goes from here, just like last week.  Arizona seemed to be talking April into dating or having “new grown-up fun,” but I think most of that was just Arizona speaking for her own experience.  April may or may not date this season as part of her journey, but if she does, I don’t think it will be anytime soon.  She is focused on herself right now, as she should be.  Like she said, she doesn’t want a new normal.  Right now, she is surviving and that is the best she can do.  There was a quick line in the scene where they were all drinking coffee outside that caught my attention and may be insignificant, but I think it is another example of the introspection and reflection April is doing.  Meredith commented on how Riggs packed his bags and left to which April responds,  “Riggs panicked.  People panic.”  n that line, I heard April relating to Riggs because she packed her bags and left once, too.  That’s just one more part of her past that must be on her mind lately. And the chapel scene.  How is it that Sarah Drew can have a ten second scene where she says two words, and it is breathtaking? When April is unsure, hurting, or troubled, she turns to God.  But here, she went for a different reason.  April is thankful.  And not just that Amelia survived.  Despite all the hurt and heartache in her life, April is thankful.  And that just makes me love her even more.
I know many of you are angry and even jumping ship, but my feet are still planted firmly on the deck at this point.  Japril has a long journey, which is frustrating, but it’s only because they can have a story like this and remain one of the most popular couples on the show.  They have had two scenes together in six months, yet Grey’s posts are full of fans talking about Japril on every form of social media.  They are strong enough to get a story like this, and I hesitantly say, the writers this season are strong enough to make this into an amazing story.
