#i feel sorry for anyone that hasnt seen adrians beautiful growth in bloodlines
Note
Sort of adding on to that last anon, but when I first read Vampire Academy, I didn't really care for Adrian. I felt like he was the cliche smoking, drinking "bad boy". Reading Bloodlines though, I loved him and Sydney and Sydrian. There are certainly things I would change, even in Bloodlines, but I still love the books and characters, and I have actually read Bloodlines more times than I have read Vampire Academy.
Apologies for the late reply, had a busy day! But yeah his bad habits do make sense the more you read which we all learn pretty quickly is because of Spirit and his addictive personality. He didn't just use those things to be a 'bad boy'. He used them because those were the only things that helped him cope with being different. I feel like that's more of the reputation he kind of got slapped on him because of his spiraling behavior and bad habits because no one knew what Spirit was especially back when he was 13ish (thats when he started drinking so I want to say that's about the time Spirit sort of kicked off for him). Right from the beginning I always felt like there was so much more to his character and reading Bloodlines absolutely shed light on that between his Spirit & Bi-polar. I've read the VA books maybe 3 times while I continuously go back to Bloodlines. Bloodlines has continuous character development where Rose completely backtracked the progress she'd made. I don't want to say that I'm anti-Rose but I just can't ever seem to get behind her as a character and how she'll step on others to get what she wants without any regard for how it will impact other people's lives. The more i go back and reread Vampire Academy books, the more I just seem to dislike about Rose. I used to love her (not so much Dimitri just because he's always felt like a rather boring character to me with little to no depth to him) but as I grew older and reread them, I just can't stand her.
