889 pages after the waterloo digression and he gives you this look:
Qu'on nous permette de recourir, pour la clarté du récit, au moyen simple déjà employé par nous pour Waterloo. (t. II, IV, 12, I, p. 438)
uh-oh. don't do it vicky! we just had 26 pages on the historical day 5 june 1832, we don't need another waterloo (70-page play-by-play commentary on a historical event in which our characters barely feature) on top of that!
(ibid., pp. 438-439)
oh, so it was just a reference to his method of describing the relative locations of a bunch of streets by comparing them to a capital letter of the alphabet.
saying this, she casually threw a large cobblestone at la garde municipale.
#actually the last time he did this was when he was describing the streets around the convent. which was after waterloo#he loves using this device which is great for me because it actually helps!!! usually when i read written descriptions of relative#locations in space it does nothing for me. but apparently taking a bird's-eye view and tracing a giant letter over the top is#the secret sauce#the battlefield of waterloo was an A and the streets around the convent were a Y and now the streets around this barricade are an N#interesting that this time it's an N since usually in this book when he talks about the letter N he's talking about napoleon#maybe that's why he's specifically referencing his description of waterloo rather than his description of petit-picpus#les mis#lm 4.12.1#my posts#f#unfortunately while i do think i understand the location of these three streets and possibly how they relate to la rue Saint-Denis#i don't really understand where les halles are in all of this. and then he brings la rue du Cygne and la rue des Prêcheurs into it#and i'm like stop stop that's too many streets!!!#like i thought saint-denis was at the top of the N running perpendicular and les halles were doing the same thing at the bottom?#but then sometimes it sounds like les halles are on la rue saint-denis?#no wait i just reread that part and i think he's saying if you leave la rue saint-denis via la rue de la Chanvrerie eventually you will get#to les halles. so yeah they're on opposite sides of the N. still don't know what's up with la rue du cygne and la rue des prêcheurs though

I saw your Hobie x latina going going to the club para perrear and I loved it😭🤞🏼😩
BUT
Imagine Hobie going to a cantina with a mexican reader and just drink and hear corridos tristes (el video del vato que dice "porque que te quiero" y le meten el micrófono a la boca😭💀) or rather going to a cantina goes to her house and her family is making carne asada and drinking beer and there's literally a band in the party (soy norteña perdoname😭) and he is like "this food is bussing bussing" because he is British and their food is just "no good💖". At first he is nervous like he doesn't know what to do and at the end he is somehow riding a horse or he is playing with the band, he just loves it, the vibe and the food
(Love how you write 😭💖)
Hobie Brown meeting latina!reader's family <3
Tumblr media
Masterlist <3
Ay hermana, soy chilanga we don't have horses up in this bitch😭 I tried to make it more general like Bee meeting your tías and primos but def adding the whole carne asada deal. (For my non-mexican readers, we call people from the city "chilangos" and northern people "norteños" and while we're from the same country, our experiences can be very different!). Also, tysm my dear, hope u like<3
-First off
-Giggling and kicking my feet 🤭
-Bro was persistent in meeting your family, and while you weren't exactly reluctant, you did have to warn him
-"Why not!? I want to meet your uncle Luis or- or Saúl!" He exclaims, recalling the stories you've told about your family members. "I'm not saying no, mi amor. I-It's just-" "What?" He grins, knowing you don't really have a solid argument. He kisses your pout and walks over to your room to get ready as you sigh, defeated by your pretty once more.
-Of course you wanted Bee to meet your family! But we all know how it can get at those big family gathering.
-One thing was meeting your parents, (which went by spectacularly, by the way) but him hanging out with your older tíos and younger primos was a whole other deal
-They aren't bad people, you love them dearly. It was the soft (hard and relentless) teasing (borderline bullying) you were worried about.
-It was easy to understand their humor when you grew up with heavy jokes, but Hobie would be new to all this. Plus, he was the first official boyfriend you'd introduce to the family! They were protective and honestly not afraid to show it.
-"Buenas tardes, Hobie Brown. Mucho gusto" you say slowly as you're both on the way to your tío's house, he repeats after you with a horrible accent. "Roll your r's!" You giggle, looking at him intently while softly showing him how to pronounce.
-He's really trying for you bestie </3
-Yeah he went blank after your aunt opened the door and dismissed his polite handshake with a bone-crushing hug.
-"Ay mija! He's so tall, I can barely hug him right. Pásenle, pásenle, Luis is in the garden with the kids. Welcome Hobie!"
-Bee just smiles and it widens when a horde of kids comes running down the hall and bolt towards you, saying hello to their favorite aunt and the strange bato she brought along.
-"Tía Y/N/N who is this?" Luisa (the youngest) asks, eyeing Hobie up and down with the sass of an old lady, making him suppress a laugh "Es tu novio?" now questions one of the boys, looking up at him amazed. "Hello brats" he smirks, high-fiving each and every one of your nieces and nephews excitedly.
-"You didn't tell me you were a tía already..." "Some of them will be by the age of sixteen, so I'm no rare event."
-Hobie is hard to lose on a crowd; all spikes, leather, chunky boots, and piercings
-Your nephews are thrilled.
-Asking all around about what his pins mean, if he finds it hard to walk with those boots, if he's not too hot with his jacket... you know, the type of questions kids ask.
-You laugh at him, trying to answer one question at a time patiently, and walk over to the table outside where your tíos, tías, primos, primas, cuñadas and some sobrinos were.
-"Y el novio mija?" Asks one of your tíos, already in a deffensive tone "He's inside con los niños, tío. Ahorita viene" you smile and promptly, Hobie walks through the door after the kids.
-The smokey scent of the carne asada filled his nostrils as soon as he walked outside, widening his eyes at how good it smelled. You walk over to him, grabbing his arm and smiling widely at your family
-"Les presento a Hobie, mi novio" you beam and your tíos can tell he truly makes you happy. "Yo no te di permiso, Y/N" one of them jokes, making everyone laugh and Bee follows after you translate for him.
-And he didn't like it but he really cared about their opinions
-He didn't give a single fuck of what other people had to say, but this was your family!!! He knew he was close and for the first time, strived for perfection
-The next few minutes were him trying really hard to memorize all the names, having a hard time pronouncing your aunt Rocio and Rosa's names.
-Everyone laughed at his attempts
-You sit between everyone at the large table, one of your tíos approaching you as you're too busy catching up with one of your cousins. Bee squeezes your hand to catch your attention, but you don't turn back to look at him, instead just squeeze back.
-He nervously places his hand out, and contrary to before, your uncle welcomes it. "Buenas tardes, Hobie" (oubi😭con acento mexa) "Buenas tardes, señor". God, did he rehearse that on the way...
-Your uncle seemed to appreciate him at least trying to talk to him in your mother tongue. He gave him kind of a smile and asked "Wanna help me with the asador over there?"
-Oh this was a test
-"Sure thing" he nods confidently even though he's shitting himself at the moment
-When he saw the carne asada let me tell you
-His mouth watered, heart eyes all over and he swore he was about to do that floating thing he's seen spider pig do
-Your tío taught him how to turn the steaks at the right time, after some aceite jumped and burnt him a bit :( your uncle could tell he was trying hard so he took it easy on him
-Personally? You fell in love all over again when he contained his tears the best he could at the smell and spice of the chiles floating so close to his nose <3
-You slapped his ass playfully when serving the food and he just smirked as your uncle side eyed you HARD
-“Bloody hell this shit is fucking amazing babe!” He almost moans when he bites into the taco of asada you made for him
-Your family might or might not know english but they know how bad words sound lmao
-They couldn’t blame him tho, not after he proved to love asada as much as them with the eight tacos he ate ☹️💕
-Him playing with the babies of your family bro :(
-He's so good with kids too
-I'm talking playing with them, having full conversations no matter how silly they got, following their train of thought and even making sure they weren't up to some stupid shit
-Girl, if you don't rail him stupid after that-
-He got along with your older cousins too!!! After all, they shared a similar taste in music and films so there was plenty to talk about
-Your tías chismeando with you about how handsome he is
-Let’s wrap it up, I got carried away and this is too damn long 😭
-He’s talking to one of your tías when the banda arrived at around 9 p.m
-My man is so confused please help him
-His spidey sense went off before the whole fucking commotion started lmao
-When he realized it was a live group playing and singing traditional music he lost his shit
-Asked you all about it!!! “What is that piano thing!?”, “What is he singing about?”, “Can I learn how to play that?”<3
-Eventually (and with no alcohol needed since he refused to risk doing some stupid shit with your family) he ended up dancing with your tía, her patiently teaching him how to move
-He had a hard time with his big ass boots but somehow managed!!
-Hobie was so happy when you went home ☹️ almost asking when you could come back and if you could cook some carne asada the same way your uncle (his best friend, he called him) did
-“Yo te amo mi amor” He smiled big, kissing you softly before falling asleep “Thanks for letting me meet your family… meant a whole lot y’know?” “‘Course corazón, seeing you there with everyone filled my heart with a joy I have rarely experienced”
-And with that you fell asleep, Hobie dreamt of asada and banda<3

10 characters, 10 fandoms
Tagged by the lovely @greypetrel - so here we go! Thanks :*
Everything is under the 'read more' after the first one because I don't want to clog other people's dashes.
Aaand I tag @birdkeeperklink & @pyritefes2 here, so they don't have to scroll down the whole list to understand why and where they are tagged :P as usual, no pressure at all!
1.Stephen Black (Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell)
Tumblr media
Incredibly well written and compelling (Mrs Clarke, teach me your secrets) in the book, and great acting by Aryion Bakare in the show. Probably one of my favourite male characters ever.
2.Lucrezia Borgia (Borgia: faith and fear)
Tumblr media
I loved her character's arc through the 3 seasons. It really showcases the thing I love most about this serie, despite its flaws (and some are big flaws) - it never shied away from complexity. All characters are shown as capable of great tenderness and great cruelty - and this is one of the reasons why I think that they really captured the spirit of the renaissance.
3.James Flint (Black Sails)
Tumblr media
"I was unjustly branded as a monster in the eyes of the so-called civilized society, so I'm going to destroy it" - what's not to love? And yes, of course I'm obsessed with the "freedom in the darkness" speech, of course.
4.Justice (Dragon Age)
"A world so full of beauty that beauty goes overlooked. I must see it with different eyes."
I couldn't find a gif, ops! Put my favourite quote instead. Initially I was really torn between Merrill and Anders and other five characters, but I'm in an AwakeningTM mood so I've picked my favourite rotting corpse.
5.Mr Nancy / Anansi (American Gods)
Tumblr media
^^^ favourite scene/quote, no questions.
6.Jacquette/Jacquetta Woodville (The White Queen)
Tumblr media
"We are all on fortune's wheel," I say. "Without a doubt we will rise. We may fall. But still I have no fear of it.”
Look at that Burgundy-inspired fashion!! The witchcraft and prophecies and definitely less accurate, but eh- that's still my thing. Also, a novel about her story (The Lady of Rivers) is the only book by Philippa Gregory that I didn't dislike, and that's truly something.
7.Uinen - Silmarillion
Tumblr media
I have a soft spot for sea-themed mythology, so I obviously loved that section of the Silmarillion.
8.Hastur (Good Omens)
Tumblr media
#team-Hell, because I like the demons' character design. Also, for some reason Ned Dennehy follows me on Instagram, so I feel like he deserves a mention.
9.Thomas Cromwell (Wolf Hall)
Tumblr media
I have developed a love/hate relationship with this book&show - but Mantel's prose is stunning.
"It is wise to conceal the past even if there is nothing to conceal. A man's power is in the half-light, in the half-seen movements of his hand and the unguessed-at expression of his face. It is the absence of facts that frightens people: the gap you open, into which they pour their fears, fantasies, desires."
Do you see this? Annoyingly good.
10.Morgan le Fay - Camelot
Tumblr media
I feel like this show had a lot of potential that it never got to fully express, and Eva Green as Morgana? Inspired casting, 10/10.

I didn't want to come back here but I'm curious about something. I've seen at least 3 people saying that ALW asked John Owen-Jones to do the 25th concert and he REFUSED!? Do you know anything about that? If it is true, it was the dumbest thing JOJ could have done. How do you turn down an once in a lifetime chance like that? Apparently he wanted to do Les Mis which he ended up not being cast for either. ALW worships sierra (which I will never understand why, she's extremely overrated) but implying he really wanted JOJ do you think he would have cast Gina Beck or Katie Hall with him?
Frankly, I have absolutely no idea what was said off the record for this casting. There's ever only been comments on the ones that DID get cast, and how they were cast. It seems ALW got to choose some, and CamMack got to choose some. I don't know if all links are still accessible, as this is copied from a post I did some 10 years ago, but anyhow:
Ramin Karimloo was invited by Cameron Mackintosh and Sierra Boggess by ALW: “I’m in heaven because I love the show and the character so much,” said Boggess, who was personally tapped by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber to star in the anniversary event“ Hadley Fraser was a noticeable Javert in Cameron’s Les Mis at the time, and also best buddy with Ramin, so I’m guessing the way was short from there. Kiera Duffy was discovered through a production of Candide and asked to audition through video. They wanted a legit opera singer for the part, and she was offered the part after a video audition:
“Cameron Mackintosh’s office contacted my management, who in turn contacted me, in early August asking if I might be interested in the project. (...) I received an email from Mackintosh’s office saying they were very impressed by my dedication and chutzpah, and I got offered the role. What a whirlwind! I couldn’t believe it!"
Fate wanted it that she had to bow out some days before the concerts due to voice issues, making current West End Carlotta Wendy Ferguson take over. But Duffy was the original casting chouce. Wynne Evans was noticed in the popular “Go Compare” commercials in the UK, where he played an Italian tenor. To mention some.
I always assumed they WANTED to feature Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess along with Liz Robertson to keep the link to Love Never Dies. All three came directly from the just-closed West End production of LND. Note too how Hadley Fraser's Raoul was more in the vein of LND than a classic Hal Prince Raoul, pushing the aggressive and colder side of Raoul.
Another aspect is that rehearsals for RAH took place when the original production was performing as usual at Her Majesty's Theatre, and I don't think we should forget that John Owen-Jones was principal Phantom there. It would of course be possible to have someone fill in for him while he did RAH, just they they did for Ramin when he rehearsed for LND. In this it should also be mentioned that Barry James (Firmin) did both Her Majesty's Theatre and RAH, and so did Wendy Ferguson (Carlotta) if more as an emergency cover. But I suspect JOJ's heart was more with the original than then hybrid version at RAH. Just a personal guess, however.
All in all, JOJ is the only person who could properly answer this question, and if he has not said anything all speculations are just that - speculations. I also think I heard he was standby Phantom for the RAH concerts, in case Ramin Karimloo got sick or injured? At least I heard back in the days that the West End principals was functioning as standbys for RAH, and they were also present in cameo roles during the show.
Another thing... I frankly love Sierra Boggess as Christine. Even if the SoMe responsibles has gone utterly bananas every time she played the role (and it drove me nuts), and even if I can't stand all the ones telling me SIERRA IS THE BEST CHRISTINE EVER... I love her in the role. Beautiful voice, sympathetic portrayal, good dancer, looking like a million dollar - she is a gorgeous Christine. No more, no less.
What I do agree with, however, is that people would have said "...IS THE BEST CHRISTINE EVER" about probably anyone starring as Christine in the RAH concert, as long as they sung well and looked good. If Gina Beck was featured she would be a sensation. Ditto for Katie Hall. They would simply be the most available Christine out there for the majority, and thus getting a big fanbase.

Hello i'm back with thoughts and a recap for people that don't understand spanish or couldn´t see stream
There is something about Quackity getting in Karmaland ready to forgive Luzu for a second time and Luzu just making it worse again by stealing his only pet and leaving a note. Quackity was so mad and disgusted when he read "Your Luzu"
Anyways Quackity's cousin's are called Beni and Cochi and i love them already (les vio la cara a todos los de las teorías), they are just ready to kill anyone for Q, that's not a joke btw
He found Alexby and after explaining what his cousins where doing there he told them that he was planning a revolution, they proceeded to get inside the city hall with invisible scarfs and they found that Luzu had weapons coming disguised like cucumber. They proceeded to assault the truck, kill the minions and steal the guns
Alexby kept trying to calm him down "They really hurt you" "You and Luzu where so close, what happened?" but well it wasn't working
There's also the fact that he burnt down the therapist building Luzu had and broke some windows and that Quackity was ready to kidnap Luzu's kids even if they are technically his kids too, an eye for an eye and all of that
Alexby confessed him in church and while they talked he tried to make him realize that if he kept going he wouldn't be better than Luzu. By the end he told them that he had to leave and that Quackity was scaring him.
Anyways the lore was amazing, Quackity is ready for revolution and he is so angry. He is being very mean and not following anyone's advice (Sapopeta told him to go with the legal route and Alexby straight up told him to chill and think), that may cost him the little allys he has, he is scaring Alexby with how far he is going after all. I also can't stop thinking about Quackity asking Alexby if he is going to say anything, making him promise his silence and how little trust he has now after the betrayal of his closest "friend". I don't doubt he does care about his allys but he is also ready to do anything in his power to kill Luzu.
I'm really excited to see how this plays out!

Here are my thoughts on the live action Little Mermaid!
That literally no-one asked for but I feel like rambling
I have a lot of love for the original film (it's my second favourite Disney film after The Lion King) and a lot of nostalgia for it. I remember getting stuck on the Little Mermaid ride at Disney and me and my mum were just dancing and singing along to Under the Sea the whole time. So when this one came out, we had to go and see it, even if it was just for a laugh.
And I was pleasantly surprised! Sure, it didn't need to be made, and I will always prefer the original, but out of all the live action Disney films I've watched (most of which I didn't like), this might be the only one that I would actually choose to rewatch again. It wasn't perfect, but it was enjoyable.
I'm gonna go into some into some specifics now so spoiler warning for the next bit.
Overall, it was a lot of fun and I didn't get bored at any point (which I did with Aladdin...)
Halle Bailey was amazing as Ariel and I think the casting was great!
There's a bit when she's turning the pages of a book underwater and I know we're taking creative liberties because of the whole mermaid thing but the level of realism that is in it means that it doesn't make sense for that book to not be mulch!
Melissa McCarthy was really good as Ursula (I really needed them to get Ursula right in this film) and minus a couple of points where some of the comedic moments didn't quite fit the character's vibe, the overall performance was pretty true to the original.
Ursula having glowing tentacles is one of the best additions and I love it!
Flotsam and Jetsam look amazing but I wish their glowing eyes were a little more obvious. There wasn't quite as clear a distinction and I think whiting out the opposite eye could've helped a bit. (Also, they don't speak but I feel like that would've actually ruined the vibe more than anything).
Some of the movie is too dark and I mean that literally. There are a couple of scenes where I can't tell how much I would actually be able to see outside of a dark cinema.
All of the original songs are still great!
They removed the whole "body language" segment from Poor Unfortunate Souls, which is a bit of a shame, but I can understand why. It was still cool to listen to though.
Some of the lyrics in Under the Sea don't make quite as much sense because the fish are no longer playing instruments (for realism reasons) but the dancing sea stars were great and the dancing limpits reminded me of the mushrooms from Fantasia.
Les Poisson isn't in it! :(
Some of the new songs were fine, but they don't fit. I don't actually mind Wild Uncharted Waters but because it's different from the rest of the soundtrack, it feels like the film just stops to make way for a random music video and it's a bit strange (and did Eric actually get on a boat because that doesn't make much sense in the context of the moment?)
The Scuttlebutt... exists.
Scuttle was never one of my favourite characters anyway so... meh, Flounder is... a crime, and Sebastian is actually okay for the fact that he's made to look realistic. He still made me laugh on multiple occasions and Daveed Diggs did a great job voicing him so that was good.
Some of the merpeople look a little odd out of the water. Like they almost look slightly oily? I think they're just supposed to look wet but the CGI went a little bit off.
ERIC IS BETTER IN THIS FILM THAN THE ORIGINAL!
He actually has a bit more of a personality in this and Jonah Hauer-King did an excellent job playing him.
Eric and Ariel are giving a little bit more focus together in this film and they have some more obvious shared interests. I loved this because their connection felt more believable and while it does still only take place over 3 days, I actually felt the relationship develop in this.
GIANT URSULA IS AWESOME! (Don't know how much you'd see in any room with a light source though).
I feel like I had more points than this... I'm sure they'll come to me.
General thoughts are that it's not as good as the original, there are a couple of bits that could be worked on, but overall, really enjoyable and good for a fun couple hours.
Although, on a quick side note, if you're like me and get motion sick, there may be a couple of moments that might make you feel a little bit ill. It wasn't so bad that I had to look away at any point, but there are some spinning shots or tracking shots through the water that my motion sickness didn't love.

My first post received a pretty good response so I'm here with part two. Link to part one is below:
I'm screwing around with formatting so it looks better (hopefully)
These take place in the same universe as the others.
Anyways, to the head canons!
Ok so first of all, I want to add that Keith has anxiety and a touch of ADHD. Like specifically the kind that makes you fidget.
Keith's ADHD causes him to fidget with his fingers and bounces his leg a bit. Sometimes he can be heard snapping his fingers (a way he fidgets, he does it without thinking) while walking down the halls. Everyone has mainly gotten used to it but Lance starts snapping as well and this can cause a chain reaction that leaves everyone in the castle snapping their fingers.
Keith's anxiety makes it so he has a hard time around the whole crew and often isolates himself from conversation during meal times and such. This is why he has the reputation of the lone wolf. Allura is trying to make a habit of asking Keith questions as a way to include him in the conversation and the paladins learn something new about Keith.
Keith usually doesn't have anything to do at meal times but eat so he's started making mental note of things the others say in hopes he can use it to get closer to them at some point. Things like how Hunk is really proud when he learns a new recipe or some of Coran's old stories. He especially likes hearing the crew talk about the things dearest to them.
The crew are suprised when Keith approaches them (individually) to talk about things that they like. Keith has sat through many a demonstration of Pidge's programs and quite a few mechanical explanations from Hunk. Coran is always eager to talk about old Altea or some weird space animal. Keith has even tried to use this on Lance but it doesn't work as well. Keith can't seem to find something Lance will talk about with him.
Keith treats Allura like a sister and is really close to her. He would sooner die than see Allura hurt and knows things about her that not even Coran knows. When she was kidnapped, he advised that they don't rescue her right away because he knew she could handle herself and wanted to be more prepared against the Galra so further damage didn't come to their team. He'd rather Allura not come back to a shattered crew.
Keith had a crush on Lance back at Garrison but could never get close enough to Lance to get to know him better. Lance was always abrasive but Keith couldn't understand why. All his offers to "hang out" were met with rejection or competition. Keith tried to forget Lance but nothing could dull his feelings. Lance's cheery disposition, beautiful smile, and bad comedy that left everyone laughing made Keith admire him from afar.
Keith ended up trying to bury his feelings on the ship as well but they only grew stronger as Keith got closer to him. Lance was daring and flirtatious and not afraid to be stupid. He openly showed emotional weakness regardless of how vulnerable it made him to the crew.
Allura is the only one on the ship that knows how deep Keith's crush for Lance goes. Shiro only knows of the crush. Keith never would've told Allura but one night she kept asking about Keith's love life because he knew so much about her and she wanted to learn something about him. Keith ended up going on a tangent about Lance and his feelings until he realized that he had been talking for an Earth hour. Allura has now made it her side mission to see if she can get Keith and Lance together.
Lance's feelings for Keith get triggered every time Keith does anything really. Keith smiles and Lance is out. He zones out at the dinner table and stares into nothingness? Oh dear god Lance adores that. Every little thing that Keith does deepens Lance's feelings for him. It's like Lance's personal corner of hell. He's slowly falling in love with the boy that he's designated to be his rival. It doesn't help that Keith keeps approaching Lance and trying to befriend him.
Keith has a collection of string that he uses to make bracelets. They're usually pride themed and he has one that he usually wears (Masc gay pride flag). He's afraid of how feminine the bracelet thing makes him seem so he hides it from others. He even wears the bracelet in a way that isn't visible with the outfit he's wearing with it. He views it as a weakness.
The truth is revealed about Keith's craftiness after he makes a bracelet for Allura with the lesbian pride flag on it. Lance goes up to Allura thinking she made it but is understandably surprised to learn that Keith made it. You better believe that Keith was surprised to see Lance come up to him later to ask if Keith could make one for him. Funnily enough, Lance asked if he could make a pride flag themed one (specifically bi), not realizing that Allura's was a pride flag (Cut him a break, he hasn't seen it in months).
Lance asking for Keith to make something for him was the highlight of the week. He got to work on it, making sure it was perfect. He even put seed beads on the ends of the string to make tiny pride flags. He wanted to make it the best for Lance even if he wouldn't notice or appreciate the smaller details. Lance totally noticed and appreciated the small details.
Lance: "So Allura told me that you made the bracelet for her"
Keith: "Oh uhhhh"
Lance: "The fact that you can do that is really cool and I was wondering if you could make one for me."
Keith: "You want me... to make something... for you?"
Lance: (Now worried he overstepped a boundary) "Yes?"
Keith: (With stars in his eyes) "I'll do it."

PARIS 1960
September 1960, it's friday night and for Hannah and her band, it's the big night, they play tonight at "the Golf Drouot", the best Rock concert hall in Paris, they'll play with the band "the 5 rocks "which will later become "Les chaussettes noires"(The Black socks) mythical band of French rock. After years of hardship, they finally began to play in real concert hall and finally be able to live of their music, even if for the moment they didn't earn lots of money during their performance. But no matter, they were playing in front of an audience, and it was already great.
Hannah was 18 years old, she was a little brunette, she was thin with curves, beautiful brown almond eyes, insolent gaze, make up in black, she's always dress in black, leather, or blue jeans with custom clothes made by her. She was still hanging out with 3 guys, they were inseparable and united since their childhood, after meeting in an orphanage, where they hadn't lived easy moments, they had faces of killers, thin physical but muscular, with blue jeans and black leather jackets, the hair combed back, they were part of this gang that terrorized Paris "les blousons noirs", they were real hooligans, rock fans and loved pretty girls, more they were innocent and naive, more they liked it, Hannah loved gangsters, more dangerous they looked, more it attracted her, but hadn't find yet one who'll make her lose control, they also liked smoking and drinking a lot, but what they liked the most was music. During her first rock concert, Hannah had fallen in love with the bass, she absolutely wanted to have one and learn to play it, she had to make some bad tricks to earn enough money to afford her first bass, an amazing Fender jazz bass, overpriced, but she was determined, in her band, there was Simon playing the drums, Ben playing the guitar, and David playing the electric piano, they were older than her, Simon and Ben was brothers, Ben had 25, Simon 23 as David, they had trained a lot, Hannah wrote and Ben composed their own song, they did a few covers, but it didn't please Hannah who preferred to sing loudly what she wanted, sometimes in French, sometimes in English, which she had learned at the orphanage. The Golf-Drouot acquires its celebrity thanks to its springboard on Friday night. It's a music competition open to all: four or five groups follow each other and each have about half an hour to interpret a few songs and conquer the audience. The group that comes first has the right to a new participation and can also win a studio session. They loaded their instruments into the van, and go to the club, where the owner was waiting for them, Henri Leproux was a good fellow, who loved to discover new talents, he explained to them again the details of the evening, and in what order they had to play, then they saw the musicians of the "5 rocks", they had known each other for a long time, and were rather friends, they liked to make fun of each other, Claude the singer who called himself Eddy Mitchell to make more American (who'll become a great French singer), arrived and put a small slap on Hanna's butt.
"So "mes loulous "who'll still kick your ass tonight?"
"In your dreams Eddy, tonight is our night"
"may the best wins, little Hanna"
It was Hannah's group's turn to play, they went on stage.
"Good evening I'm Hannah, Ben on guitar, Simon on drums, and David on keyboard, we're "The Frenchies" "are you ready? Let's go 1,2,3,4"
They had to play 6 songs in total, 3 covers and 3 of their compositions:
- I gotta know from Wanda Jackson.
-Fujiyama mama of Wanda Jackson.
- Johnny Burnett's Train kept a-Rollin.
-1,2,3,4 rock.
- Je suis french
- Tu es à l'ouest.
The audience seemed delighted, people danced and clapped their hands, at the end of the set the public asked a last song, they seemed to enjoy the original compositions of the band, they played a last song of their own, "people unite."
She believed in it thoroughly, but unfortunately the "5 rocks" that were much more popular won the contest, but "The Frenchies" reached nevertheless the second position, which was already not bad.
"I told you we'd kick your ass, little Hannah"
"Fuck you Eddy"
"ahaha such a bad loser"
she was really disappointed, she believed so much that they'll win.
A man of a certain age presented himself to Hannah.
"Hello Miss."
In english with a strong German accent, he kissed her hand.
She thought it was again an old pervert who was trying to fuck her.
"I introduce myself, Bruno Koschmider, I heard you play, and I must say that I loved it, it was really great.
"oh really, thank you"
"I own a club in Germany, we're currently organizing a rock festival, with several English bands, would you be interested to participate, we are looking for new talents"
She took a step back when she heard about Germany, but she began to think and asked the man what the conditions were.
"You will be paid $100 a week, until the end of December, and you will also be accommodated free of charge, I will also pay for the fees trip."
"Wait a minute, I'll ask my boys and I'll tell you if we agree."
she explained everything to the boys.
Simon, who was the most violent of the three, replied:
"You're serious there Hannah, you want to send us to the" Bosch ", he's old he must be a former Nazi, I'd better smash his head"
"shut up Simon, calm down, and think, we'll be paid $100 a week, it's a bunch of money until next December, we need this money, we can't refuse his offer"
"I don't know Hannah, he's still a "bosch"I don't really want to play there after all the misery they've done to us!"
"You really think I can forget about it Simon, you think it doesn't bother me to go out there, but think of all that money, maybe you could pay for your new bike, we'd have money to try to record an album, it will be much better than staying rusty here, without doing anything, right?
"It's ok Hannah, tell him that we agree"
"there is a problem?" asked the man who didn't understand French.
"No, no problem, you can count on us."
she began to speak in French to the boys.
"what an ironic situation, let's show them we're still alive and let them move their asses on our music."
