Another year, another EngPort week

And we are back and ready for this year’s event!

This is our 3rd year anniversary, so I decided to do a little something special: there will be a Giveaway!

We will place all participants’ names in a hat and draw a name at random. The winner will receive a gift in the mail from this blog and their winning post will be pinned until next year!

The contest starts the 8th of May, the first day of ENGPORTWEEK. Any form of art posted before that date will not partake in the contest, however, we will still share it on the blog. It ends on the 15th, not a day later, and the winner will be called within the next week.

She called me Ophiusa. And she was right. Well, almost right. I'm actually a dragon. But very close, don't you think? This is my nature. My true self. What I am behind this annoying humanoid skin. Tell me... Do you know the noise of the snakes? Exactly. So, be quiet, my friend, and I will finish you very, very soon. ... I'm hungry, afterall.

Based on a @kaimaciel 's headcanon about how Mother Greece called Portugal when he was a child (the Ophiusa's part, the rest is mine). I fell in love with the idea.

This is the reward for @imdedlikeu, who helped me to traslate and share with the amazing english community the fic I've made to @engportevents this year: I AM / EU SOU.

Day 7 (May 14th) ~ You made it possible @engportevents

This one requires a lot of explanation: in my headcanon, Nations has humanoid side as the main one, but not the only one. They're multidimensional creatures and all of them were created in Pangea, the First Mother, through a dimension I call The Dream World (little of Sandman's idea); then they took several forms and sides while the countries, kingdoms and regions were built or rebuilt. Finally, they took human form as their population and they "were born".

But as historical beings they've got multiple sides which are all working at the same time. They belong to each significant change, revolution of modification of the identity of the country (child, pirates, revolution wars, etc). So the older they are, the more sides they have. Are this sides crossing that dimension and come here? yes, when something happen they took the main continent and personality, gender or circumstance requires it.

The most ancient sides are primitive: animals, concepts or ideologies. For me, Portugal is a sea blue dragon because he was born in the ocean and the dragon was the first symbolical creature that portuguese has as a kingdom. England is a tiger; full of thunder and celtic magic - that's why the color and the weird stripes. Tiger and not lion, because the lion is Spain. But in time, he took the final primitive shape with Pirate Era. A tiger is a powerful, ambitious, majestic, selfish and some lonely creature. Misunderstood, too.

This scene is a special place: England reshaped some dreams and he did a nest for his dragon, as a gift of eternal love. The tree there is called Saint Hawthorn and, as a curios thing, it's the last sparkle of the existence of Templar, who offered himself to do that instead of being totally extincted. So he became the purest tree that takes care of Portugal. And it's a place any nation can use to heal his sides or their "souls".

This is part of what you will read in the fanfic I posted the intro the first day of the week; there you will see it more "in action", so stay tuned!
