Blue dude in The Husbands of River Song says "And you've just been to Manhattan what planet is that"

This means the episode doesn't take place long after The Angels Take Manhattan from River's perspective— the last time she saw The Doctor (and her parents). Meanwhile the last time The Doctor saw River was as her data ghost form in the Impossible Girl where he said his last goodbye to her "See you around river song" with her final words to him "goodbye sweetie" .... He then spends 900 years away from her, however many years are between 12's regeneration and Clara's death (excluding the 4.6 billion which I personally refuse to believe he remembers it all based on how he acts in the episode) But.... just, imagine saying goodbye to your wife one last time from her perspective, and then the next time you ever see your wife again it is over 900 years later and she genuinely doesn't believe you love her. Like... ow my heart

I just watched the husband's of river songs and like I'm happy because river finally gets to be with her doctor (well they all are here but the one she spoke about) but it's also sad cause I know what that the library is going to happen some point after this. I can't.

say what u want about moffat's writing but lemme just say this: as painful (and i mean painful like fr moffat wtf bestie) as the whole face the raven to husbands of river song stories were, moffat did damn good at doing justice when it came to the endings of clara and river. it would've been such an injustice to river if clara stayed or if twelve's memory didn't get erased and vice versa. he got to focus on two pains separately and at the right times. it gave good individual focus on both with neither having to be overshadowed by each other's demise and i appreciate that.
