See if there's one thing to take of note, the live-action How to Train Your Dragon is going to be DreamWork's first.

They're taking the same path as Disney (ngl no matter how you try to frame it- feels like a money grab) where their movies are being turned into a live-action. And they picked HTTYD to be the one submitted to that fate.

But at least they're making some good efforts, there are highlights. I'm still scared as to what the end product will be, but-

Dean Deblois is still directing. John Powell returns as the soundtrack composer. Gerard Butler is reprising his role as Stoick in live-action format.

I even saw on Instagram that Cressida Cowell, author of the HTTYD books, even visited the movie set.

One of DreamWorks' most popular movies was picked to become a live-action. One that was already so well praised for its revolutionary animation. I want to say it's DreamWorks legacy, but that's always a matter of opinion. The Kung Fu Panda trilogy is also brilliant. Well I guess no longer a trilogy.

Anyway, I am both excited and terrified for what the live-action could come to be. A friend of mine weighed the option that maybe they're taking this opportunity to have it be more book proportionate, that I'm more doubtful of.

And then, what if the movie comes to be a success, that's what I get on about. Like, enough to make sure the 3 movies are made live-action too?? Why I dwell on it, is because of the brilliance of the shows. If the live-action does actually garner some good attention, is there going to be a possibility of the shows being made live-action too.

Talking about C BLOOM again his HTTYD content is so good, he clearly loves the characters and he has so much fun watching the show I get so much serotonin watching his RTTE vids as they come out

Last night I watched Audrie Greywind’s video on her take on the casting for Hiccup and Astrid for the HTTYD live-action movie. During the course of the video, I got to thinking of how they do have the potential to change the movie. As it was brought up that they could introduce other characters, perhaps from the shows. 

In my tangent thinking, I thought of Alfred Molina. My outrage that he has been cast for THREE SEPARATE DREAMWORKS TELEVISION SHOWS, but hasn’t been offered a role in their movies! I took into account that the live-action is currently in production and apparently the planned release date is March 2025. Far too soon, I completely agree! 

But like my mind got to think, imagine if the movie he finally gets to be in is the live-action?

I know, it’s so exceedingly outlandish to think that one person wishing he takes part in a movie would somehow finally get him onto a DreamWorks movie, but hey my mind is thrilled thinking about it. 

Even if he gets put as a background character or with a minor speaking role! Imagine how us Viggo fans would react. And yes, I have seen that there are people who love Viggo but have absolutely no idea that his VA is freaking Doc Ock. I’m still seeing people discover that to this day. (and if my youtube channel ever gets off the ground more people will)

regarding: httyd live action (unpopular opinion)

am i the only one who’s lowkeyyyyy a lil bit excited for it 🫣🫣 although i think it’s largely bc of my inner child’s passion for httyd wanting to be reignited

also dean is directing it that’s amazing!!!! and a good sign, i don’t think that’s ever happened for a live action adaption of an animated film

of course it will never match the charm of the original, even if it does end up actually being good. but i think a big part of me just wants to accept it, not take it too seriously, and enjoy the wonderful httyd world being revived in a way 😎 we will always have the beloved original films, after all, separate from the live action and nothing will ever change that.

(now that i’ve gotten this out,,,.. CAST ANDREW GARFIELD AS HICCUP it’s his time to shine)
