Cannabis Law in India: Navigating the Haze of Legalization
Introduction:
The legal status of cannabis, commonly known as weed, has been a subject of much debate and speculation in India. As the global perspective on cannabis evolves, with many countries relaxing regulations, it is crucial to understand the current state of cannabis laws in India. This article explores the intricate web of regulations surrounding cannabis, shedding light on its historical context, legal status, and the ongoing discourse regarding its potential legalization.
Tumblr media
Historical Context:
Cannabis has deep roots in Indian history, with its use dating back thousands of years for medicinal, spiritual, and recreational purposes. The ancient texts of Ayurveda mention the therapeutic properties of cannabis, recognizing its potential in treating various ailments. Despite this historical association, the legal landscape surrounding cannabis in India has undergone significant changes over the years.
The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985:
The turning point in India’s cannabis laws came with the enactment of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in 1985. This legislation aimed to combat the rising drug abuse problem in the country and brought cannabis under its purview. As per the Act, the cultivation, production, manufacture, possession, sale, purchase, transport, warehousing, use, consumption, import inter-State, export inter-State, import into India, export from India, or transshipment of cannabis is prohibited, except for medical or scientific purposes and in the manner and to the extent provided by the provisions of this Act.
Legal Status of Cannabis:
As of now, cannabis is illegal for recreational use in India under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The law categorizes cannabis as a narcotic substance, imposing strict penalties for its possession, use, and distribution. However, the Act does allow for the cultivation, production, and manufacture of cannabis for medical and scientific purposes, subject to stringent regulations.
Despite the legal restrictions, the consumption of cannabis remains prevalent in various parts of the country, often driven by cultural and religious practices. For instance, the use of bhang, a preparation made from cannabis leaves, is an integral part of certain religious celebrations, such as Holi.
The Medical Cannabis Debate:
In recent years, there has been a growing global trend towards recognizing the medicinal benefits of cannabis. Several countries have legalized medical cannabis to varying extents, acknowledging its potential in alleviating symptoms associated with chronic illnesses, including pain, nausea, and muscle spasms.
In India, the discourse on medical cannabis has gained traction, with advocates arguing for its legalization to harness its therapeutic potential. Proponents of medical cannabis contend that its controlled and regulated use can benefit patients suffering from conditions like epilepsy, cancer, and chronic pain. However, opponents raise concerns about potential misuse and the need for stringent regulations to prevent recreational use under the guise of medical necessity.
Regional Variations and Enforcement Challenges:
India is a diverse country with varying perspectives on cannabis use. While some states have historically been more lenient in their approach, others have enforced the central laws more rigorously. This regional disparity has led to challenges in enforcing a uniform stance on cannabis use and cultivation.
The state of Uttarakhand, for example, has taken steps towards exploring the economic potential of legalizing cannabis cultivation for industrial purposes. The state government issued licenses for the cultivation of hemp, a variety of cannabis with minimal psychoactive properties, in an attempt to boost the economy and create employment opportunities.
However, such regional initiatives have faced pushback from the central government, highlighting the complexities in formulating a cohesive National Policy on Cannabis. The lack of consensus among states and the center further muddies the waters surrounding cannabis legalization in India.
International Developments:
The global landscape regarding cannabis legalization is evolving, with several countries moving towards decriminalization or complete legalization. Canada, Uruguay, and several states in the United States have legalized recreational cannabis, while many others have embraced medical cannabis.
These international developments contribute to the ongoing debate in India, as policymakers and activists assess the global trends and their potential implications for the country. The shift in global attitudes towards cannabis may influence the domestic discourse and prompt a reevaluation of India’s stance on the matter.
Conclusion:
The question of whether weed is legal in India is nuanced, reflecting the complexities inherent in navigating the legal, cultural, and economic dimensions of cannabis use. While the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act continues to criminalize recreational cannabis use, the discourse on medical cannabis and the economic potential of hemp cultivation is gaining momentum.
As the global perspective on cannabis undergoes transformation, India finds itself at a crossroads, grappling with the need to balance public health concerns, cultural practices, and economic opportunities. The path forward requires a comprehensive and informed approach, taking into account the diverse perspectives within the country and the evolving international landscape. Until then, the haze surrounding the legal status of weed in India remains, awaiting clarity in the form of informed policies and regulatory frameworks.

Wednesday evening: Dexa, AI Assistant and other stuff.
Tumblr media
Too much gloomy weather is weird. As if it feels like everything around has stopped, completely, frozen. It’s been gloomy here all day long, sometimes raining and sometimes isn’t. I thought I would pick my car and go for a drive but when it starts raining, you cannot trust the traffic on the roads, so I let that plan be. Was working on Dexa, checked up my stock portfolio and realized NVIDIA has hit $1Trillion in Market Cap and I really believe its overhyped, as per its sales to earnings ratio. NVIDIA right now is going through the same hype bubble that CISCO went in early 90′s when the Internet happened, solely because of a new technology selling on high future stakes, but it wasn’t long until CISCO stock price crashed 90% just after the hype-cycle ended.  After that, I was browsing through science videos when a video explaining MDMA Therapy for PTSD caught my attention. I watched the video which basically comprises of people who have went through the clinical trials for the treatment and it actually works. I am sure it does, because I have took MDMA in the past, but like all other illicit street drugs, this MDMA I took was also not pure. MDMA is basically Ecstacy, a party drug that boosts empathy, emotions and you feel good on it, the last time I did X (short for ecstacy) was back in 2020. For once I felt like I should try checking up with someone who might have found this therapy beneficial but unfortunately and obviously it isn’t available in India. India hasn’t even legalized weed yet, let alone another psychedelic that too much stronger than it. India has a weird law structure when it comes to substances and a lot of other things. Drugs come into this country with the help of the government officials, in this case corrupt politicians and officials, everyone in the hierarchy is involved into the dirty business of drugs, but they won’t legalize the once that are less harmful/potent. The street weed that’s being sold here is SPICE which is dried leaves of marijuana sprayed with different toxins, sometimes even fentanyl and people are catching habit out of smoking weed. The more contaminated the drug, the more harmful it is to your health but boy oh boy my country will never want to lose control and also the extra cash that the illicit market has, if they legalize it they’re gonna lose the big chunk of cash. And no, I don’t smoke WEED. I don’t do any drugs since the last 8 months, but I have tried almost every drug available on this planet except DMT and Ayahuasca. I was a full blown Heroin, Coke and Meth addict for 6 years before I hit I think my 10th rock-bottom and decided to get clean and never go back that route ever again. No matter how emotionally painful somethings are, I ain’t gonna do drugs ever again in my life, and this September I will hit my one year sober anniversary. Cheers to that!  Coming back to the point, even if I want to consider the MDMA Therapy or psychotherapy, for the lack of a better word, I have to travel abroad. I will be going to Amsterdam by the end of July this year and I’ll try to take a look into this thing. I know MDMA does heal a lot of things because I have used it a couple of times in the past and I very well understand how this thing will work, but the therapy will be supervised by a therapist for 8 hours and its a process that I alone can’t achieve. Also, street ecstacy quality is not at all good for therapeutic use. Street level X is mixed with meth, ketamine or sometimes even caffeine or sometimes all of these together. So no. Let’s put this in the bucket list.  Right now I have been working on coding a GPT-4 based Assistant that will answer your questions and even talk, or work as your personal therapist. Writing the business logic for the app, and the front-end has already been written. That’s pretty much it, took a quick break to write this post and I’ll again write back shortly.

Before including any type of hash, initial lay out your rolling paper and also add a layer of ground flower. Drier, chalkier hash can be crushed or reduced up, and after that sprinkled on the flower prior to it's rolled. Stickier, higher quality hash softens as well as is flexible when warmed up. You can heat it up by rolling it carefully in the hands of your hands. Kind it right into a slim serpentine form, after that position it in addition to the blossom. The first 2 of the previously mentioned nations run their dried-up weed with screens. It is the friction the is generated in between the filter as well as the dried weed which enables the separation of the trichomes of the cannabis from the remainder of the cannabis plant's material. The accumulated trichomes after being divided by the use of filters are described as kief.
Is hash better than wax?
Cannabis wax has higher levels of THC than other concentrates, resulting in a faster, stronger high. It is produced in the same way as hash oil is produced and should only be purchased from medical-grade providers.

By dealing with material gland heads in these manners, the trichomes can be separated. What you're left with is essentially kief, which is then pushed into hash blocks for more convenient satisfaction.

Weed & Mental Health (adolescent)
Mom and Dad,
In the recent months I have experienced cognitive decline that I attribute to my use of weed cartridges. I started smoking weed cartridges when I was in my senior year of high school, and  became addicted. I hated it but for some reason I couldn't stop I smoked daily. Although I took month long breaks often, I continued to smoke in college during my first 2 years. Towards the second semester of sophomore year, I used legal delta 8 carts instead of delta 9 carts. The only negative aspect of using up to my sophomore year was my lack of motivation and any minute cognitive changes went away following abstinence. I should have quit or asked for help. In high-school I asked for help by leaving my stash on the laundry machine and gave a singular puff to mom one time (she thought it was an e-cigg though). In highschool in my AP Chemistry class, I saw a kid at the end of class do a hit from a similar weed cart in front of his friends. It would have been so easy for him to get caught, he was standing up giggling with his back turned but the teacher was on the computer and didn't notice. I recognized then that this kid was so alone with his addiction that he did it in front of his friends at school out of pain and solidarity. He had an expressionless face most of the day and seemed distraught, I knew from the grapevine he smoked a lot. He was like me, addicted, and did a hit in school subconsciously screaming for help. After class I asked coach Jacobs his thoughts on using weed. He said, sitting on his computer desk chair with his hands behind his head, " I think after 25 half a joint does the same damage as having a martini, but before then its really bad for you physically, mentally, and your development as a human being. You should wait until after your brain is fully developed to try anything." I remembered this for the rest of my life. I didnt have the courage  to directly ask for help but I needed it and should have asked anyone. I couldn't quit it although I should have had the courage to do so. I tried quitting many times but I was too far down the drain mentally. But now, I am scared for myself. I quit completely following moving jethin in because I was noticing cognitive decline in myself. It was terrible. One morning, I woke up and nothing entered my brain its like I was a zombie. That is why I quit. I hoped I would regain my functionality like before, but to no avail. My iq seems to have dropped 10 points at least. My short term memory has regressed so much that learning new information is difficult for me. Reading is harder and to recall something takes me much longer than before. I have a harder time making long term plans and imagining things. I had a hard time with understanding and expressing English as well though this has been improving. My mind is nothing like it was before. Now, my memory, pattern recognition, recall, imagination, has diminished to a much lower degree. I was fine last year and the year before that, my mental health and cognition were good, but recently it seems like a switch turned off for me. When I walk in the world I don't absorb information the same. I don't abstractify what I am seeing as easily, and my short term memory is really shot. Its like I'm just walking in the world blind deaf and dumb. I am scared I won't be able to pass my classes even though compared to highschool these classes are an absolute breeze relatively speaking to when my brain was sober. I can't do quick calculations anymore and I am acutely aware that my senses are just senses. Seeing touching hearing are just that, I can't calculate the same way i used to to create a coherent experience of what's going on around me. I don't have appreciation for life anymore. I  am telling you all of this now because i have really experienced cognitive decline and I am extremely depressed, unhappy, and anxious. I am afraid that my prefrontal cortex and hippocampus is permanently damaged. Weirdly, I've had a dull ache in my head ever since I've quit, in the middle and front of my brain, that's been getting slightly better with time. The slight discomfort or pain is always there its terrible. It also gets better temporarily when I cry, meditate, or sleep for an extended period. I hope that after a few months this dull pain would subside and my mental capabilities would return. Even my dreams are less complex and have less emotion. All of this is what I talked to that therapist about.  It's not like I am sad ALL of the time, but a lot of it. But I am pretty sure my mind will never be what it was before. I experienced life to its fullest extent while I was not using any drugs, and now that I've been sober for 2 months now and my mind is not returning close to what it was. I still feel like a zombie when exercising, and I develop a deep sense of sadness right after I work out because i recognize my short term memory and mental capability are weakened which makes it hard for me to make good memories and I get anxious about my future. I am pretty emotionless, even fear is hard for me to experience. When I am unhappy, at times I break out into a sob, but because my emotions have dulled probably from the weed, I only start to sob momentarily and then return to a face of stoicism. This makes it hard to achieve catharsis for my sadness and it gets bottled up inside. I don't really mind the mental health difficulties from quitting weed - that can pass over time with proper behavior - but it's the cognitive difficulties that makes me afraid. I am afraid that I will never be able to view the world the same way that I used to before weed. I am afraid that I won't be able to become a doctor unless my brain heals over time. I have read many studies about the use of marijuana during adolescents. Although there is conflicting research, my experience suggests the worst for me - that what I am experiencing may be permanent. I also read that smoking weed during adolescence can delay prefrontal cortex maturation, meaning I would never be able to absorb information and process it  the same way ever again. If only I had read the dangers of early marijuana use earlier and understood I would have quit immediately. It is entirely my fault my life is like this now, I was too weak. Both of you have given me everything and helped me the most you could. Especially Dad. Dad, I feel so bad because you have lowered your expectations of me so much. If I hadn't started smoking, I know I would be a completely different person.  Mom and Dad, I have been thinking about committing suicide for some time. I've been thinking about it at least once a day actually for a few months. Its not that I think life and the world is terrible and bad, I actually think the opposite. Before smoking I loved life and loved myself. I could feel the world like a thumping heartbeat or a quivering harp playing soulful music. I feel like killing myself because my current and future experiences will be inorganic. My brain structure/chemistry probably changed forever and I don't want to live with this brain anymore. I cant understand everything going on around me thus I can never understand the world the same way like I used to. I feel like i can't learn new things, everything I do now is because I am just accessing what I learned before starting to smoke weed and during freshman and sophomore year of college. My emotions have waned. I can't calculate complex things anymore and put it into context sufficiently. I can't move my body and think strongly at the same time. Right now, meditation and thinking about my long term memory is my only friend. My short term memory is shot which affects my learning and ability to make meaningful experiences or connections. It's like I have pseudodementia though not as bad. The only joy I get is accessing my long term memory and talking long walks in places and with people that used to bring me joy. I loved Turkey so much and the time we spent I go there in my head all of the time. I love Africa, I love India, I loved my friends at swimming and during highschool. But if that's all I am living for I don't know what the point is. I curse myself everyday for making the mistake of smoking weed or not quitting when I could have. I could've become a beautiful person had I continued developing normally. I am so sorry for being a bad son. I am so sorry that you came from India to America to have a child that fucked up like me. I am sorry for the stress this places on both of you. You both did nothing wrong in raising me, I just fucked up. I am sorry for how this may affect your work dad. And I am sorry for being a liability for the family. While I am drowning I don't want you both to drown with me. Maybe I can get a job somewhere or go into the military. At this point cognitively, unless my brain is capable of rewiring itself (maybe that's what the dull persistent ache is in my head) I don't think I can learn the information necessary to safefully treat patients. My therapist said it would take 3-4 months to a year to feel normal again but I don't know what I will do if I can't return to baseline. I used to live with such a thirst for life and understanding but if that doesn't return I feel like I am dragging life down and owe it to my memory of what life was before weed to take my own.  Currently my plan is to wait a year and a few months before seriously thinking of committing suicide if I don't heal because the pain I am feeling is so immense. I want to live life FEELING everything organically regardless of what it is. Also my smarts are gone and that gave me tremendous joy. I know what life was like before using weed and I know how it should feel. But I cannot properly life, my sense of self, empathy, and life around me currently. I am walking around blind deaf and dumb I don't know if I want to live this way for the rest of my life. I would have loved to become a doctor.
I just don't know what to do anymore, I don't want to kill myself and I don't think I will have the balls to frankly but that saddens me even more if I can't feel or process what I am experiencing for the rest of my life. Life is too short to waste, any life really even if I'm dumber than what I used to be. I think of people who are paralyzed, people who have cancer, who have nobody left to care for them, people who are homeless and have physical ailments. They don't give up, but their minds are still natural. I am young and the only reason I am thinking of this is because I don't want to go the rest of my life with derealization of the world around me. I don't want to live the rest of my life blind deaf and dumb. No new experiences since the latter parts of my weed addiction have given me any meaning in life compared to what I had learned before smoking weed. I am grateful I got to experience and learn the meaning of life from my perspective and others when I was younger, thank you for that. I love you both so much. I am sorry and don't worry I am not going to kill myself its just that I am angry with myself, angry with my cognitive decline, and angry that I can't experience what life ought to be currently. I am hoping for better in the future though. I just thought you should know.
Love, Your son
Before Weed:
I am telling you this because I am scared for myself although it may be too late. Before I tell you what I've been going through, I want to tell you about my life experience up until junior year of highschool. Although I wasn't exactly extremely smart from your perspectives, I was acutely aware of my surroundings. In school I was more focused on how things were organized and what every single person in the room was thinking and what their plans were rather then what they were teaching. It's like my brain was calculating 20 things at once and i was living existentially all the time. I was incredibly happy just to be alive. I could recall the exact positions of people and things around me, what I was thinking, and the sutle muscle movements of people over a reasonable amount of time. I used to know what people were going to say before they said them, and know someone's personality outlook on life, habits mentality etc.  just by watching for 10 seconds to an incredible degree of accuracy. The longer a person was in my focus I learned more about them exponentially. I could learn things very well and had a memory based on the things that I was focused on that was so precise and better than almost everyone I had ever met. People in high school who knew me well knew this and would be shocked how i could know things about them. Some things like sexuality and gender insecurities, presence of autism/ Asperger's as a child, family life back home, and who liked who, I could tell about people after observing them for a little. I had  respect from people at school and some teachers because they knew what I could learn about a situation or people just by being in the same room. I could learn new words in the blink of an eye if I heard it just once, I was constantly calculating. With dad, I could not learn what he tried to teach me though just because I was so scared of him that my focus wasn't there and panic was always set in I was scared to be beat frankly (i wasn't scared of the pain but just scared what it meant which was hard for me to fully realize because I would slightly repress the memories and I don't like to do that). But it's from him I learned how to analyze people and the world. But he is one of the only people I've ever met where I could not track his mind to a satisfying degree. For most people I would now what they were thinking, what they were incubating in the back of their head, and their current plan of action in a glance by looking at the eyes and body. I could not do this with dad because his mind is faster than mine it was too hard to keep up. He has mind palaces that are so structured and he can jump around his mind so easily I couldn't keep up with the mind palaces he created and how he navigates them. It was harder for me to do this with people who had a very high iq but I would practice everyday and would cherish analyzing introverts for practice. I walked on a street with a hundred people I would make an observation about each of them and could later recall exactly what I saw and what I was thinking. My kinesthetic sense was very good so physical distances was easy for me to calculate and remember. I truly believed that before starting weed I would become a doctor because all my strengths coincided with it. This ability, although most ppl might be able to do it, peaked for me right before starting weed. I was very much in tune with spirituality and enjoyed reading storybooks, meditation, and socializing. I was never focused on myself but what was around me, I kept my thoughts and feelings in a box in my mind to help me learn as I recorded what others were doing and thinking. I had balls - I asked out girls in highschool, and honestly wasn't afraid of much because both of you enabled me to experience life by taking me everywhere.

Ginny and Luna sat on the porch steps of the Burrow, drinking lemonade, watching the boys play quidditch on the last day before term started. “They never let me play,” Ginny complained, eyebrows furrowing, “it’s not fair.”
Luna touched her friend’s wrist, trying to comfort her as much as she possibly could. “It will only be Ron and you this year, maybe he’ll play with you,” she said hopefully.
Ginny grumbled, “I can play just as well as any of them and Percy doesn’t even want to play! I could take his place! I could be a chaser just as well as he could, if not better.”
“You’ve never even ridden a broom Ginny,” Luna said, but smiled at her friend’s passion and complete confidence in herself.
Ginny glared at the boys. “I will someday.”

Luna was sleeping over at the Burrow, and she and Ginny were up late into the night. Ginny was attempting to braid Luna’s hair and failing miserably.
“Ginny, you’re supposed to alternate the strands,” Luna said, detangling her hair yet again, but she couldn’t help but smile. Letting Ginny mess with her hair felt so nice – the gentle graze of the girls’ fingers on her neck every once in a while, the focused look she had whenever Luna got her face in the mirror across the room – it was all just so nice.
“I know, I know, I just keep forgetting which strand I’m supposed to move next,” Ginny said, falling back onto the bed. “I’m no good at this.”
Luna brushed out her hair and looked at Ginny, “Just try one more time. For me.”

Ginny curled up in Luna’s arms, sobbing uncontrollably. “I don’t remember doing any of it, Luna, I don’t remember, I swear I don’t.” Luna pulled her friend closer, running her fingers through the ginger hair.
“Maybe it’s better that you don’t,” Luna said. She had her own share of traumatic experiences, but unfortunately, hers weren’t hidden from her. “Maybe it would be better if you stopped trying to remember them.”
Luna remembered Ginny before their first year at Hogwarts – brave, passionate, unafraid – and she knew this was this the same girl, but she also wasn’t. The diary had taken something from her, something more than her memories – her innocence, her ability to fear nothing, her smile, her laugh. Luna wished she could turn back time.
Ginny kept crying in her best friend’s arms until the shaky breaths became steady and her tears were dried on her cheeks, falling into what Luna had no doubt was a nightmarish sleep. She continued to watch her friend, getting no sleep that night.

“There’s no convincing her not to do this, Ron,” Luna replied, eyes narrowed at the sky, and then she steps closer to him so only he will hear her say, “Don’t worry, I asked Percy to cast a cushioning charm on the ground just in case.”
They both watched as Ginny mounted the broom and set off into the air, and let consecutive breaths of relief when she didn’t fall to the ground as soon as she stepped off the roof. Luna smiled as she watched her friend fly across the sky.

She felt Luna wake up, the hold on her loosening, the breath behind her neck less steady, “How long have you been up Gin?”
“Just an hour,” Ginny said, “it’s nothing. I just couldn’t go back to sleep.” This was actually quite normal for them. Ginny always woke up early, always stayed in bed until Luna woke up too.
“Ginny,” Luna said, pleadingly, and awkwardly, Ginny turned to face her. “I’ve told you over and over to wake me up when you can’t sleep.”
“I just love being held,” Ginny said, with no shame, moving closer to kiss Luna.
“Ugh, morning breath,” Luna joked, smiling, when they pulled away.
“Oh, you know you don’t mind,” Ginny replied.

They were in the Netherlands now, where they had been living since Queen Beatrix had signed a law that legalized gay marriage – they weren’t rushing to get married, they just wanted to and the Netherlands were the first country to allow it.
It was a relatively small ceremony, but Ginny had never really know what a small gathering was, with her family being large all on it’s own, and a relatively simple one as well. They both wore dresses and flower crowns, neither walked down the either, and they exchanged vows under the stark blue sky.
And when they kissed for the first time as wives, they both were consumed by the same feeling – love – love for each other, love for everyone around them, love for the past and the present and the future.
and just like a folk song
our love will be passed on

What is the Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana?
Tumblr media
With the legalization of hemp products, many individuals are wondering how it differs from marijuana. CBD products have skyrocketed over the past few years due to the overall wellness that they offer. CBD is a unique market that is treated independently but still has a close relationship with the cannabis market. So, what is the difference between hemp and marijuana? In this article, we will explore the differences between both and how they are also similar.
What is Hemp?
Hemp is a type of cannabis and is scientifically known as Cannabis Sativa L. Although both hemp and cannabis are from the same family, hemp and marijuana contain different chemical makeup.
Hemp plants have low levels of the psychoactive ingredient Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) but have high levels of the non-intoxicating phytocannabinoid Cannabidiol (CBD). Throughout the United States, the THC level is what defines the difference between hemp and marijuana.
Hemp became legal with the passing of the 2018 Farm bill. All hemp that contains 0.3% THC or less is now legal. For plants that exceed the 0.3% THC limit, it is considered marijuana and remains illegal under the USA Controlled Substance Act (CSA).
Hemp happens to be one of the most diverse plants in the world. The stalks can be used to manufacture textiles or create biofuels. Hemp seeds can be eaten or transformed into hemp seed oil. Indoor Hemp flowers can be used to extract CBD that can then be used in other products.
You can purchase CBD hemp flowers from online vendors, such as Oasis Farms. Here they offer the flower which can be smoked or used to make a variety of other products, including tinctures and extracts. CBD is widely known to offer overall wellness and balance without high levels of THC.
What is Marijuana?
Marijuana is related to hemp but contains high levels of THC. It is known for its psychoactive effects and is not legal in most states across the nation. While marijuana and hemp are closely related their chemical makeup is different.
Marijuana remains on the Schedule I substance list. However, some states are now allowing the use of medical marijuana. So, there are dispensaries across the nation that now offer marijuana for medical use.
This herb comes in a variety of forms, including cured flowers, tinctures, edibles, topicals, and other products.
How are they different?
Hemp and marijuana both come from the cannabis genus of plants. There are multiple types of cannabis and they all provide different levels of wellness. The primary species of cannabis include cannabis Sativa, cannabis Indica, and cannabis Ruderalis.
While a lot of individuals refer to hemp and marijuana as species or strains, they do not fall under either. To be truthful, they are not technically a plant. Hemp and marijuana are a broad classification of Cannabis.
Cannabis and marijuana are used interchangeably in today's industry. This is why so many people confuse the differences between the two. Cannabis, however, refers to the entire genus of flowering plants, which would actually include both hemp and marijuana. Therefore, it is not correct to exclude hemp when using the term cannabis.
Marijuana has been used to distinguish between cannabis that is hemp and cannabis that is not. The difference between the two is the levels of THC, which make hemp legal and marijuana illegal. The funny thing is that cannabis contains many different cannabinoids and chemical compounds. It is the THC level that legally separates hemp from marijuana.
Therefore, the terms hemp and marijuana help distinguish the variations of the cannabis plant. However, both find themselves on different sides of the law.
Cannabis is divided into three species, which include Sativa, Indica, and Ruderalis. Sativa is the most commonly talked-about form of cannabis. It grows naturally in tropical regions, including Central America, Africa, and Asia.
Cannabis indica came about later. It is abundant in airy mountainous regions, including the hills of Afghanistan and parts of India. Indica plants tend to be shorter and bushier than Sativa. Cannabis Ruderalis is prominent in the Northern hemisphere, including China, Russia, and Poland. This type of cannabis is known for being able to withstand harsh weather elements.
As time has gone on, these three subspecies of cannabis have been bred together. Some have a hard time distinguishing a difference between them. Ruderalis is the rarest form of cannabis. Medical marijuana can be found in both Sativa and Indica varieties.
Now that you have a basic understanding of hemp vs. marijuana, let's dig deeper into what makes the two different from one another.
Chemical Composition
Both are members of the cannabis species and contain cannabinoids, as mentioned above. However, the level of those cannabinoids differs. Industrial hemp that is grown today is a form of cannabis Sativa. Making it closely related to marijuana but they are not the same thing.
Remember, hemp does not contain high levels of THC which is the psychoactive compound in marijuana. For hemp to be legal it has to be 0.3% THC or less. High levels of THC could alter your cognitive thinking.
So, all plants that go above the 0.3% level of THC are classified as marijuana. There you have it, the main defining characteristic between hemp and marijuana is in fact the level of THC that it contains.
Legality
At one time both hemp and marijuana were illegal to buy, sell, and possess. While they are from the same plant, the government decided to make both illegal at one time. However, hemp can be used for so many things, which we missed out on for years due to the laws surrounding hemp.
From a legal standpoint, marijuana remains illegal for recreational use. It has been legalized in some states to be used for medical reasons. Also, there are some states such as Colorado that allow the recreational use of marijuana.
Hemp on the other hand became legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. It is no longer considered a Controlled Substance. This means that individuals can freely access hemp. There are still some states who have decided to outlaw hemp, so you must know the laws surrounding this herbal remedy.
Cultivation
Marijuana and hemp are grown differently. Cultivators of marijuana must be extremely careful. They have to monitor temperature and humidity throughout the growing process. Plants will be positioned far apart, and the nutrients are meticulously controlled.
Hemp is more easily grown. The plants can be kept close together and can be grown in pretty much any condition. Hemp is a hardy plant and will not require as much care as marijuana does.
Cultivators can have a quick turn around when it comes to hemp. Growing hemp can be done organically without the help of chemicals and fertilizers.
Usage
Marijuana has a narrow opening when it comes to usage. Since medical marijuana came about it has become more sought after, but recreational use of weed is still frowned upon.
Hemp contains high levels of CBD, which provides overall wellness and balance without the psychoactive compounds that marijuana is known for. Hemp can produce useful resources such as food, rope, clothing, paper, and housing materials. Hemp is more sought after than ever before.
How can you tell the difference between Hemp and Marijuana?
Most of the THC and other compounds that are found within the cannabis plant are in the flower. So, the more that a cannabis plant flowers the better. This causes the marijuana plant to be shorter and bushier than the hemp plant. Marijuana has broad leaves, tight buds, or may look like a nugget that contains tiny hairs or crystals.
Industrial hemp plants are typically bred for their fibers. These are found in the stalks of the plant. Resulting in the hemp plant is taller and skinnier than marijuana. Hemp will have skinnier leaves that are at the top of the stalks.
Final Thoughts on Hemp Vs. Marijuana
Hemp vs. marijuana comes down to legalities and the amount of THC. While marijuana is legalized for medical purposes in some states, recreational use is only allowed in a few states. Therefore, marijuana as a whole is known to be illegal. Hemp on the other hand is known for its CBD properties and has become very popular in the last few years.
CBD hemp flowers can be found locally as well as online. Oasis Farms offers a large variety of strains that can be shipped right to your doorstep. When shopping around for a reputable vendor you want to ensure you go with one that provides high-quality hemp flowers.

>>Faking a marriage before God?<< - Not “Just a lesson from the Courtroom” but an answer from the life experience of a Christian minister
Tumblr media
“Stühle” by Hans
Consolation and Hope for the hurting hearts. Everything under the line.
As I have taken up to comment on several things concerning OL in the past under the title “Just some lessons from the courtroom”, I have decided to comment on a post I read around the “happenings” and rumors of the last weekend - this time from the viewpoint of my other profession.
As many of my followers know, I worked for several decades at one of the biggest district courts of my country (mainly as a Senior Administrator for International Legal Assistance in Criminal Law). But I am also an ordained minister and certified counselor of the Christian faith for (this year exactly) 30 years. And since 1991 I always worked both jobs - one as my 7 am to 3:30 pm job, the other one in the evenings and on weekends.
In the said post, a person asked:
“But would they really fake a marriage before God?”*
The moment I read the said question, I could feel the horror behind it. I sensed sorrow and hurt.
Before I comment on that question, let me explain the following: When I came to the OL fandom on Tumblr, I was surprised by a large number of people who  - after I got to know them -  revealed themselves as people of deep faith and spirituality to me. I met people from all religious backgrounds, different denominations, etc. And let me make this very clear:          I respect all of you, every single one. Even if we don’t share the same convictions, the same kind of faith. I respect you all - and I also respect every person who calls himself/herself an atheist. Because faith, in my conviction, is a very personal decision and only a personal decision. Having said that, I like to comment on the last weekend and the said question. For an introvert like me, it is not an easy thing to post such personal things here. Please don’t think I want to preach at you. All I want is to give you the consolation that was given to me:
1. A hard truth
First I have to state a very hard truth. 30 years of ministry have taught me, that everything holy to God and men, can and will be faked. Let me give you some examples:
I saw a man faking the Christian confession and baptism - before God! - because he wanted to marry a lady of deep faith.
I saw a man faking the Christian walk of faith, showing a very pious lifestyle - before God! and the whole parish - while he was beating his wife at home regularly.**
I saw several men and women faking a marriage before God, speaking their vows but never taking them seriously.
I saw a man faking the Christian walk of faith - before God! -, calling himself and his church “the only elect of God” while offending and humiliating foreigners and people of a different faith.
These are only four of my many personal observations. We could go on and mention all those men (and some women too!) who called themselves “servants of God” while they were sexually abusing innocent children. We could mention the superiors of these people, who tried to hide these criminal acts before state authorities - a behavior that enabled the predators to molest and destroy even more innocent lives. We could mention the leaders of a distinct megachurch who were not willing to open their multi-million-dollar-building to help the victims of a hurricane. We could mention a high-ranking representative of “the only church of God”, flying to India first class for visiting the poor while building himself a villa for 35 million Euros in Germany (paid by the financial support of the common church member). We could mention all of those Christians, who believe they need killing machines (aka automatic weapons) because the Almighty God, they confess their faith in, obviously isn’t mighty enough to save His followers. These (and other people) have no problem to fake sacred things before God because - honestly - they only believe in two idols: themselves and the money they can get.
All of this contradicts the Christian faith, the gospel, the teaching of Christ. All this is fake before God. All this is shameful and hurting for those, who believe and honestly and humbly walk by their faith. But there is
2. No Need for Despair, but consolation for the hurting heart          We have to face the truth. If we don’t do it and if we shamefully try to hide it, we are in danger of becoming “Fakers of the Faith” ourselves. That is absolutely no alternative! Remember that Christ taught us, that the truth has the power to set us free (John 8:32).          Seeing, experiencing, that people fake all kinds of holy things before God, has hurt and saddened me deeply, but I am not in despair. I didn't lose my faith, no, contrary, my faith in God became even stronger. Why?          The answer lies in the teaching of Christ, especially in the parable, which is called “The Parable of the Tares” (Matthew 13, 24 ff.)          In this prophetic parable, Christ makes it clear to His disciples, that in later times there will be two kinds of people in the realm of faith: Those, who are like genuine wheat and those who are pseudo-wheat. I know, many bible translations use the word “tares” or “weed”. But if you do an in-depth study of the background of this parable, you will find that the difference is not between “wheat” and “weed”/”tares”, but between “wheat” and “pseudo-wheat”. The word, used in the original Greek of the New Testament, is “ζιζάνιον” (zizanion). It is the Greek name for a plant also known under the Latin name “Lolium temulentum”, “poison darnel” in English or “Taummelloch” in German.             This plant looks like true wheat, but it can’t bear the real fruit. It is nothing but a fake! When you eat from this plant, it unfolds a poisonous effect. This can lead to dizziness, blindness and in the worst case even to death. That is exactly the spiritual effect fake-believers can have: their fake-Christianity will confuse you, tries to blind you for the truth and tries to kill your faith.   3. But how should we react to fake-faith and pseudo-believers?
From the said parable we learn first and foremost: Never concentrate on fake-faith or pseudo-believers! Concentrate on the truth and on the all-knowing God, who loved us so much that He warned us before it happened. God is not surprised and you shouldn't be either. Therein lies my greatest consolation. The God who knew all of this before (including the last weekend fake) is still able to change everything.         Don’t react with hate, hateful speech or with a judgemental spirit! Be aware, that by giving room to these kinds of feelings, you betray your own values and the truth you stand for. Jesus, knowing that these questions would arise, answered them in the parable:          “So the servants said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’ But he said, ‘No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, “Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.“ (Matthew 13, 28 ff.)         It is not mine nor your duty, to judge who is true/honest and who just fake’s it. Neither you nor I know the hearts like God does. Therefore God is the only One who can justly judge everyone and trust me, He will do it. But there are also several things for you and me to do:
Don’t let the pseudo-wheat blind your eyes for the truth or for the power of God. Don’t let all of this discourage you. God in His love warned us before it happened. He is not surprised. He is still the same God, mighty to help. He can’t be shaken and He still owns tomorrow. Nothing is hopeless, nothing is lost until the last day of this dispensation of grace has ended.
Live the truth humbly, walk in the truth daily.
Care for the fakers. They are in a dangerous place. Why? In 30 years of service, I have witnessed it again and again: Living a lie always leads to more lies and that leads away from true joy, true peace, and true happiness. One lie calls for another lie and in the end, all these lies lead to despair. Therefore, care for the fakers from depths of your heart! These people need you and your prayers! Pray for them and don’t stop doing so. Pray that the truth will reach and fill their heart again. Pray that they don’t miss the mercy and grace of God, that will lead them back not only to the path of righteousness, but to true life, true joy, and true peace.
Take the words of this promise to heart: “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.“ (Galatians  6:9)
3. A last word about the last weekend
I don’t believe, that means I’m not convinced, that a real wedding has taken place last weekend. I will expound the reasons for my conviction in another post. This will take some time. Right now, I am busy because I stepped in for a friend who had to have emergency surgery and is still in rehab. But I will try to post my thoughts on that around Sunday/Monday.           I know this is a long post and I thank everyone who read it. Feel free to comment on this post, tell me what you think, send me your criticism, questions, etc. I might not be able to answer immediately, but I will do so asap.
As always - from Prussia with much love, DoP Notes:   *  I’m sorry, but because my week was very busy I forgot to reblog or screencap the post. I remember the ask was in a reblog. If anyone of my readers has screen caped it or a link, please let me know.
** When I got notice of this, I informed the authorities and they put a stop on it.

UIDAI frequently asked questions About Aadhar Card
UIDAI frequently asked questions
India is developing the country as everyone knows and from the past few years if you have noticed then you will know how much India has developed in the 21st century. Nowadays Indian government is the goal is to make digitalize India, day by day even a small work or task has become easy because of digitalization.
As you all know aware of Aadhaar card or UIDAI (Unique identification authority of India). Aadhaar card has a 12 digit number i.e it’s a unique Identity number provided by the government of India and its compulsory for every individual citizen of India to own an Aadhaar card, it holds a personal information of individual citizens like Name, date of birth, Address, and gender.
As from the latest news it has become compulsory to link your Aadhaar card with your bank account, mobile number, PAN card and all other documents which hold by the government and last day to register all the above are 31st March 2018.
Here are some frequently asked questions about Aadhaar cardholders need to know according to UIDAI.
Here Are Questions
(1) The UIDAI has all my data including biometrics, bank account, PAN, etc. will it be used to track my activities?
No, UIDAI is not used for tracking your activities. UIDAI has the following information as below:
(a) Name, Date of birth, gender, address, mobile number and email address.
(b)Your ten fingerprint, two IRIS scans, and facial photo.
UIDAI does not have other information than above like caste, religion, family, mutual funds, shares, financial,etc.. According to section 32(3) Aadhaar act 2016 it is strictly prohibited UIDAI for controlling and maintaining any information regarding authentication either by itself or any other entity.
(2)when I link my bank account, mobile number, Mutual funds, and shares with Aadhaar will the UIDAI not get this information?
No, Instead when you send your Aadhaar number with a bank account, mutual fund, share and mobile phone company they will only share your biometrics information and your name, etc. to UIDAI for verification of your identity. So UIDAI will reply to such verification questions with Yes or No. If they reply with yes than UIDAI send your KYC details (Name, photo, DOB) to a service provider.
(
3) Why am I being asked to link all my bank accounts and mobile phone number with Aadhaar
?
It’s for your own safety and security purposes, as nowadays bank crimes and fraud calls have also bit increase. Therefore this is a way towards your safety.
(4) Do NRIs need Aadhaar for banking, mobile, PAN and other services?
Not at all, the Aadhaar card is only for residents of India. NRIs is eligible for Aadhaar card and service provider link bank, phone etc has laid the NRIs exceptional for these. The NRIs just simply tell to this service provider that they don’t require Aadhaar numbers by virtue of not being a resident of India.
(5) Can the mobile company store my biometrics taken at the time of SIM verification and use them for other purposes later?
No one has right to use your biometrics information for any purposes even mobile phone companies cannot use your biometrics information taken at the time of linking and verification of Aadhaar number, as soon as Aadhaar holder presses his finger on fingerprint sensor all this data will be encrypted and send to UIDAI for verification.
With regulation 17(1)(a) Aadhaar regulation 2016, it strictly prohibits any requesting entities which include a mobile phone, bank, etc. from sharing or storing even copying the fingerprints for whatsoever reason. If they do any violation against this then they will be punishable under the Aadhaar act 2016.
(6) Some agencies are not accepting e-aadhaar card. They insist on original Aadhaar card. Why so?
E-aadhaar ( download aadhaar) from the official website of UIDAI is legally valid and has to accepted by all agencies as original Aadhaar is provided by UIDAI. Fact is that address is updated in e-aadhaar so it’s a preferable to accept the e-aadhaar. The THC may be the main ingredient that will result in the person to become addicted into the weed. The price of uranium launched in 2007 up to $145 a pound. Tumblr, whatever this new color scheme you’ve got going on is ANNOYING.
What is one thing you've realized or discovered lately? I was driving this morning and was listening to a radio program when I heard the DJs talk about how Disney employees have some sort of hierarchy among them. Apparently the princesses are the It Girls, and they have their own rooms and stuff, basically the top of the pack. Next is anyone who dresses up as a human character, say Gaston; then it’s followed by people who have to stay in the mascot outfits. It’s pretty cool information but also kinda sad? Do you know anyone who is colorblind? If so, who? I don’t think so. I do know someone who’s legally blind but I know that doesn’t count :(( Is there anyone you suspect of being colorblind? If so, who? No. When was the last time you cried, and why (if you want to share)? I haven’t cried in a while–which is surprising and also a good thing–so I don’t really remember, but I think it was from a fight with Gab. Who was the last person who was rude to you? I was at a presscon last week and while no one was particularly rude to me, people from media have absolutely nooooooo manners. It’s mortifying. It was a presscon for a ONE (an MMA promotion) pay-per-view held in a really fancy, 5-star hotel in Manila and there was a buffet for those who were invited to the event–me and my classmates included. These media people were absolute barbarians IN A 5-STAR HOTEL and kept cutting in front of the lines even when the staff kept telling them to line up. I saw one of the staff roll her eyes and I smiled sheepishly both in agreement and like an empathetic kind of way.
Do you wish you were in a different social class than you are? No, I’m fine where I am. What's something that scares you? Being alone with my thoughts. What's the one thing you want more than anything?  I want to go to Thailand and India and have their authentic cuisines. Do you have a relationship with God? Never. Have you ever vlogged or blogged? I’ve blogged before but it was boring for me. Microblogging is much more hectic and is more my style. Who do you call when you have a problem? Gabie. But I go to Angela if I have a problem involving Gab hahaha. Do you have a best friend? Of course. If not, who do you wish you were friends with? Is there someone that you miss? Yes, I miss both of my best friends. I never get to see Anj anymore and I’m in a perpetual state of missing my girlfriend. What was the last date you went on like, and are you still with the person? I had early dinner with Gab at Chocolate Kiss. I had spare ribs and she had pesto penne. That was just this Tuesday, so yep I am definitely still with her. What is your favorite thrift store find? I don’t go to thrift stores. Do you keep your room organized? I try to, but I think I’m more messy-organized than anything. Like I’d be really messy with all my stuff, but I memorize where everything is. I know there’s a copy of Hamlet stashed at the back of my closet, and I know I have a chunk of childhood books in my bedside chest, and if I need a mug on short notice I know there’s one in the middle rack of my bedside drawer, ya feel? Which YouTubers do you feel like you could be friends with in real life?  Shane Dawson, without a shadow of a damn doubt. Have you ever met someone in person that you first met online? Yes! I’ve met 3 out of 4 of my og Filipino wrestling friends from the internet. I’ve met Javi, who turned out to be a real ass and I never talked to him again after that; I met Jila, and we both screamed when we realized we came across each other; and I met Raf, who got me tickets to my first and so far only wrestling event and he was a real sweetheart. I met Jila while in line for the WWE show, so I only got to interact with her for like 15 seconds, but it was a blast.  The only person I’ve never met is Gabbie, which is ironic because we STUDY IN THE SAME SCHOOL. But we’ve never been classmates, never been in the same building, never passed by each other. How good are you with shades of colors? Uh I guess I can identify a number of them. Does it annoy you when people call teal "blue?” It probably would annoy me. Would you describe teal as a shade of blue, a shade of green, or a mix? It’s just a fancy way of saying blue-green to me. What is your favorite color? Pink. How many other people do you know with your favorite color? Very few. A lot of people are still ‘ew’ when it comes to pink, I’ve realized. Do you fall asleep with your laptop open on your lap? Hahahaha it happens sometimes, but I always try to avoid it because my laptop is freaking expensive and my dad probably won’t get me a new one if I break it. Which do you use more: a computer or a phone? Phone. Have you ever taken a test to see if you are colorblind? No. Which family member did you inherit your hair color from? Filipinos are pretty homogenous. We have black hair. Do you hate your nose, love your nose, or have you never thought about it?  I never really thought about it. What was your favorite Barbie doll?  I didn’t have a favorite, I just got gifted Barbies as a kid and played with them for a bit, but I always preferred my cousins’ toy soldiers. Would you ever want to look like your favorite Barbie doll? Do you like your hair better curly, wavy, or straight? Wavy. Do you ever worry about running out of make-up and not being able to buy more? Hahahaha that’s like everyone else I know, but no. I don’t care for makeup. Do grammatical errors annoy you?  Only when the situation strictly calls for grammar to be proper. Who do you know who is dyslexic? I don’t think so. Do you prefer kisses or hugs? Kisses from my girlfriend, hugs from everyone else. Describe your dream wedding in five words.  Elegant, formal, ORGANIZED, white, huge. Do you smoke weed? Nope. Is weed legal in your state? No but I think they’ve been having hearings in the Senate about legalizing it for medical purposes. We’re the Philippines though so I highly doubt it would go places. What are your secrets? Share a few if you want to. I don’t have any, I dump my entire life on this Tumblr hah. Have you ever thrown up in class?  Oh my, no. I’ve done other things though D: What is it that you want to talk to someone about?  I’m good. What is something that you used to be ashamed of, but now you're not? I used to not want to be associated with Tondo (I grew up there) but now I want nothing more than to live there all over again. Do you have anyone who cares about you? Yes, luckily. What was the last good book you read about?  Chris Jericho’s books are always a good read. Where do you next want to go on an adventure? Thailand or Cambodiaaaa. Do you need a vacation? Kind of. I haven’t been to the beach in almost a year. I haven’t gone trekking or went tourist destination hopping for much longer. How long has it been since you've been on vacation?  Four months-ish. We only go on vacation when my dad is home. If you could go on vacation right now, where would you go?  We’re going to Pangasinan in two weeks for a short vacation, and I can’t wait for that. Have you ever walked outside in below zero weather? Nope. Is watching youtube videos one of your hobbies? Yes. I was literally just watching videos before this survey. Does it annoy you that people get denied for disability who really need it? I haven’t seen this happen but I’d imagine I’d be upset. Have you ever held a newborn baby?  Not newborn, but the baby was weeks old. Are a ton of your facebook friends getting married and having kids now? SURPRISINGLY!!! I’ve had two batchmates from high school–one is engaged and the other already has a kid. Teenage pregnancy/marriage is not so much a thing in the PH’s middle class bracket so both instances were definitely a small shock when we all found out.
What is a trend you haven't followed? Getting bangs. What's something you believe in that most people don't?  Non-belief. At least in the Philippines, a population that’s 90% Christians. Do you think for yourself? Yes but I tend to get afraid as well. Sometimes I’d ask other people to decide for me too. What's the last supernatural thing that happened to you? Nothing of that sort has happened to me. Have you ever had anyone bully you because they were jealous of you?  No, I don’t think so. What's something most people don't know about you? I have a faint scar on my left eyebrow because a distant cousin tried to get me blind by throwing a glass bottle to my face. What's a hidden talent that you have? I wouldn’t hide any of my talents... If you're a Christian, how long have you known the Lord? Who is someone you'd really like to talk to? Angela, because I miss her. Is there anyone who's dear in your heart who's going down the wrong path? No, I think everyone I know’s headed the right way. Who has your heart?  My dog. From your experience, which is worse for bullying: adulthood or childhood? It’s awful either way lol. Do you wear sweaters often? No, I don’t really have to. How often do you burn candles? ...Never? Do you live in an apartment, condo, dorm, or house? My parents’ house. Do you have a sibling with the same first initial as you? No. It’s they that share the first letter (J) in their names. What's a word that rhymes with your first name? Noggin. ...Middle name? Shell. Do you get enough sleep?  I always try to because the moment I get less than 7 hours of sleep, you can guarantee that I’ll be a monster for the rest of the day. How many cups of tea do you drink in a day? I’ve never had tea. Don't you hate it when people give advice when you want support? I wouldn’t hate it especially if their genuine intention was to help. I’d still appreciate the advice. Which magazine is your favorite to read?  I don’t read magazines–even online ones–anymore. Do you cut out magazine clippings to use for projects? If I have to. Do you ever eat kids' food (as in, meals made for kids)?  I’d still get corndogs. I’d say I also get mac and cheese but I usually order gourmet mac and cheese so that won’t count haha. What's something you wish you would have known sooner? That I didn’t have to fake who I was to my blockmates who were way too different to who I was and what I wanted to be. I did it for a whole schoolyear and was miserable because I knew that wasn’t where I wanted to be. What's something you wish your doctor would have told you? No? Are you happy with your life right now? Not completely, but aren’t we all? Is it cold where you live?  It’s more chilly because it’s February, but watch this quickly go away by March hah. What's the next big project you plan to start? Making a physical photo album for me and Gab, because we’ve been together for three years and we’re shit at documenting memories. Do you enjoy taking on new challenges? Depends on the challenge. Do you have acid reflux? Nope. What's on your heart? Blood. Are you naturally optimistic or pessimistic? Optimistic. Would you rather wear pink or blue? I don’t have a lot of either in my wardrobe so tbh I don’t know what I look better in. I’m guessing blue. What are the names of your first cousins? Jereth, Elijah, Cholo, and Toffe on my mom’s side. Bianca, Lei, AJ, Kesler, Kent, Sam, and Liam on my dad’s. Do you know what you want to name your children? I have ideas. Do you like what your parents named you? I hated it as a kid but I’ve grown to appreciate it now. Do you think you were cute in your baby pictures?  Sure. What color was your baby blanket? I don’t remember anymore. Do you remember pre-school? I have memories here and there. How old were you when you made your first friend?  I guess pre-school, so I was 4. Are you doing what you were created to do? Still figuring that out. Do you find a lot of peoples' facebook statuses to not be relevant at all?  No. I don’t shit on whatever people post buuuut I don’t care about them either.

Architectural Styles 2
Leo: Mission Revival. So, my mom wants to run from a senatorial seat this incoming election, and I think it'd be really hopeful if you campaigned for her Napoleon Dynamite style. I know that's a lot of info to lay on you at once, so I'm gonna give you some resources to aid you with the campaign as well: dates, notes, mottos, early poster designs, bare speeches, and decorative pencil toppers. Oh, and I also must tell you that you're one of her contenders for a running mate, and you have a three-month period to set all this up before. All this is awaiting you only if you agree to any of it. But, I'd really favor you a lot more because I handmade this fancy suit just for you and I made sure to put Scooby-Doo patterns on your tie. No, they didn't have Velma — your favorite — because Scooby's the icon, and they're not gonna waste money printing designs of the other characters. Also, I'd like to mention that, on a $50 basis, I'll come to your house and suck your cock for this if you don't do it. I expect a response from you by tomorrow. […] I like you but only because you come off strong, and I like people who come off strong. You're the exact opposite of the guy who cut me off in that jeep with obnoxious stickers, and that example is exactly the model we need for… the running mate of a senatorial politician: that's what we need at this moment. […] Listen, I can flatter you all day with my compliments, but the choice (at the end of the day) is ultimately yours… but it'd really make my mom happy if you agreed, so please do it? Ok, that's it <Oro pulls out a gun.> You listen here, you piece of human garbage. You will be my mom's running mate when she runs for a senatorial seat, and you will do it in a humorous style à la Napoleon Dynamite. Did you fucking hear me? You will help her run, and you will get a Scooby-Doo tie! FUCK YOU!
Taurus: Akbari. A trucker hat, left abandoned on the highway; how sad. It was probably a long-gone reminder of a time of joyous festival by the roadside, but it's best not to linger about those thoughts for too long; you could end up feeling remorseful over what happened. [,,,] Anyways, let's get back to getting in the nitty-gritty of this abandoned truck stop. First things first: break through the entrance; get the crowbar then. Argh, you see the, unf, glass here is very strong here because what the truck drivers used to do is, well, to put it harshly: they rammed themselves into the place usually on accident. It would leave the place with a ton of damage and a lighting condition that eerily warns of domestic verbal abuse <the glass is lifted out of the window frame, offering an entrance into the truck stop.> […] I love these places because they're like convenience stores on meth, and this location in particular was part restaurant, part hotel, and part gas station: a three-way tie between unsanitary conditions! […] Purpose? Why, there was no purpose here except the pure curiosity of it all. There were no Hopper-esque scenery that we could take in, nor beer we could stash, nor are there any gas pumps to feed myself with. «Wait, what?» We're here purely for the adventure: this baby's gonna be demolished by the next month, and we gotta make a lasting impression of what once was while we still have the chance. […] Woah, is this the ice machine I saw on that internet video? It is: it's a Hoshizaki ice machine! «Uh, Koil? There's still trucks outside.» Wow, a 2014 calendar for Paris glitz, and it has kittens too! Aw man, you can still smell the grease left on these fryers. Oh, and there's a bag of Jelly Bellies here too? «Koil, they're coming inside; they have flashlights and batons!» Ooh, a headset! I bet this is wired up to somewhere that's still operating: "Ah yes, please come in, Olligestaia, we're having an emergency here: I just shat myself." «Koil, they're right outside the door, I can clearly hear the barking dogs and intense yelling to get out of the establishment!» Yo, they got a TV!
Aquarius: Art deco. A cop thought that we were smoking weed when we were actually smoking plain-old cigarettes. You see, that's how you mess with their heads: you make it look like you're doing something illegal, but you're actually doing something in the same vein as what they presumed you to be doing only legal. I could picture the look on his face, he looked at us with a disappointment in his eyes that he couldn't bust some younglings for three ounces of weed (thanks for the stash by the way, Ali), but at least I didn't give him candy cigarettes instead. You know, the ones that always felt and tasted like chalk and came in those superhero-themed boxes? Yeah, I ended up circulating those enough as a young age to build up a drug empire somewhere in India: it's crazy how that turned out, but I don't associate with that much anymore (I just let it do its business and I have a coconut in the receptionist's desk with a recorder to answer any complaints). [,,,] <Roaches scurries to taste the crumbs of the candy cigarette left on the ground. Comically, its tiny coughs can be heard from attempting to eat the repackaged chalk.> […] Heh, that was a fun run-in with the law… wait, I'm above twenty-one and I've been so for years now. Why the fuck was he investigating us for illegally smoking when I'm clearly not a minor? Was I with other people who happened to be minors? Was that what set him off? Wha-, those candy cigarettes are getting to me, man. I think I may've imagined that entire encounter: those kids weren't there with me, that cop wasn't there to approach me, and you weren't here to talk to afterwards… where's that goddamn chalk? I need it: it's the only thing that holds the cure to my newly acquired madness. […] <The roach has now started its own miniature drug business from the stash of crumbs it managed to take upon its initial encounter. It's build a monopoly based on the supply.> Come on, where is it? Don't do this to me, Ali.
Pisces: Maghreb. I specifically remember there being an entire roleplay here involving some sort of anime-esque sky fortress that revolved around three main characters interacting with each other. What compromised the structure of it was a single person who had a godlike presence within the world: he watched over a giant, green field of earthen hills that was populated by titanic golems. What he led on was that he was secretly the master of these beings, but he was also a creator that struggled with restraining his own madness. They were our star of the show and an explicit name was never given, only "Dr. G." — I swear, he stole that from somewhere. [,,,] Accompanying Dr. G was a distant traveler from an astronautical world: his name was unknown, but he went by MC and said that his backstory consisted of being chased down by intergalactic bounty-hunters before landing on the planet of Dr. G. On that planet, he had a newfound purpose to write and create filthy beats. [,,,] Then there was… Austino. He was the one whom Dr. G despised with all his might but had to keep around for necessity. Austino was the one who'd make it his job to annoy all other characters and break the fourth wall as often as possible. He was the one whom, in past roleplaying sessions, Dr. G often tried to murder but kept reanimating to spite him… Oh, and there's Pandora, I guess. […] I might be misremembering this, but I'm pretty sure there were various homoerotic elements within it at various intervals, as there was a scene where Austino stops to showcase everyone else this cool thing he found online, and it was the Moby Huge (a three-foot dildo). […] It was weird as hell, and all I remember from the climax was that some green dude appeared at the end and foreshadowed what I'm doing now after an epic battle between a demon — created by Dr. G — that imitated the powers of MC. I think it was for the purpose of a hero's trial, or something? […] Dr. G later tried creating a cyberpunk roleplay, but it never went anywhere.

Installing solar panels over California’s canals could yield water, land, air and climate payoffs
By Roger Bales, University of California, Merced and Brandi McKuin, University of California, Santa Cruz
Climate change and water scarcity are front and center in the western U.S. The region’s climate is warming, a severe multi-year drought is underway and groundwater supplies are being overpumped in many locations.
Western states are pursuing many strategies to adapt to these stresses and prepare for the future. These include measures to promote renewable energy development, conserve water, and manage natural and working lands more sustainably.
As engineers working on climate-smart solutions, we’ve found an easy win-win for both water and climate in California with what we call the “solar canal solution.” About 4,000 miles of canals transport water to some 35 million Californians and 5.7 million acres of farmland across the state. Covering these canals with solar panels would reduce evaporation of precious water – one of California’s most critical resources – and help meet the state’s renewable energy goals, while also saving money.
Conserving water and land
California is prone to drought, and water is a constant concern. Now, the changing climate is bringing hotter, drier weather.
Severe droughts over the past 10 to 30 years dried up wells, caused officials to implement water restrictions and fueled massive wildfires. As of mid-April 2021, the entire state was officially experiencing drought conditions.
At the same time, California has ambitious conservation goals. The state has a mandate to reduce groundwater pumping while maintaining reliable supplies to farms, cities, wildlife and ecosystems. As part of a broad climate change initiative, in October 2020 Gov. Gavin Newsom directed the California Natural Resources Agency to spearhead efforts to conserve 30% of land and coastal waters by 2030.
Most of California’s rain and snow falls north of Sacramento during the winter, while 80% of its water use occurs in Southern California, mostly in summer. That’s why canals snake across the state – it’s the largest such system in the world. We estimate that about 1%-2% of the water they carry is lost to evaporation under the hot California sun.
In a recent study, we showed that covering all 4,000 miles of California’s canals with solar panels would save more than 65 billion gallons of water annually by reducing evaporation. That’s enough to irrigate 50,000 acres of farmland or meet the residential water needs of more than 2 million people. By concentrating solar installations on land that is already being used, instead of building them on undeveloped land, this approach would help California meet its sustainable management goals for both water and land resources.
Climate-friendly power
Shading California’s canals with solar panels would generate substantial amounts of electricity. Our estimates show that it could provide some 13 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity, which is about half of the new sources the state needs to add to meet its clean electricity goals: 60% from carbon-free sources by 2030 and 100% renewable by 2045.
Installing solar panels over the canals makes both systems more efficient. The solar panels would reduce evaporation from the canals, especially during hot California summers. And because water heats up more slowly than land, the canal water flowing beneath the panels could cool them by 10 degrees F, boosting production of electricity by up to 3%.
These panels could also generate electricity locally in many parts of California, lowering both transmission losses and costs for consumers. Combining solar power with battery storage can help build microgrids in rural areas and underserved communities, making the power system more efficient and resilient. This would mitigate the risk of power losses due to extreme weather, human error and wildfires.
We estimate that the cost to span canals with solar panels is higher than building ground-mounted systems. But when we added in some of the co-benefits, such as avoided land costs, water savings, aquatic weed mitigation and enhanced PV efficiency, we found that solar canals were a better investment and provided electricity that cost less over the life of the solar installations.

Benefits to the land
Solar canals are about much more than just generating renewable energy and saving water. Building these long, thin solar arrays could prevent more than 80,000 acres of farmland or natural habitat from being converted for solar farms.
California grows food for an ever-increasing global population and produces more than 50% of the fruits, nuts and vegetables that U.S. consumers eat. However, up to 50% of new renewable energy capacity to meet decarbonization goals could be sited in agricultural areas, including large swaths of prime farmland.
Solar canal installations will also protect wildlife, ecosystems and culturally important land. Large-scale solar developments can result in habitat loss, degradation and fragmentation, which can harm threatened species such as the Mojave Desert tortoise.
They also can harm desert scrub plant communities, including plants that are culturally important to indigenous tribes. As an example, construction of the Genesis Solar Energy Center in the Sonoran and Mojave deserts in 2012-2014 destroyed trails and burial sites and damaged important cultural artifacts, spurring protracted legal conflict.
Clearing the air
By generating clean electricity, solar canals can improve air quality – a serious problem in central California, which has some of the dirtiest air in the U.S. Solar electricity could help retire particulate-spewing diesel engines that pump water through California’s agricultural valleys. It also could help charge growing numbers of electric light- and heavy-duty vehicles that move people and goods around the state.
Yet another benefit would be curbing aquatic weeds that choke canals. In India, where developers have been building solar canals since 2014, shade from the panels limits growth of weeds that block drains and restrict water flow.
Fighting these weeds with herbicide and mechanical equipment is expensive, and herbicides threaten human health and the environment. For large, 100-foot-wide canals in California, we estimate that shading canals would save about US$40,000 per mile. Statewide, savings could reach $69 million per year.

Bringing solar canals to California
While India has built solar arrays over canals and the U.S. is developing floating solar projects, California lacks prototypes to study locally.
Discussions are underway for both large and small demonstration projects in the Central Valley and Southern California. Building prototypes would help operators, developers and regulators refine designs, assess environmental impacts, measure project costs and benefits, and evaluate how these systems perform. With more data, planners can map out strategies for extending solar canals statewide, and potentially across the West.
It will take a dozen or more partners to plan, fund and carry out a solar canal project in California. Public-private partnerships will likely include federal, state and local government agencies, project developers and university researchers.
California’s aging power infrastructure has contributed to catastrophic wildfires and multi-day outages. Building smart solar developments on canals and other disturbed land can make power and water infrastructure more resilient while saving water, reducing costs and helping to fight climate change. We believe it’s a model that should be considered across the country – and the planet.
