BAFTA Scot Awards 2019, with Red Carpet Host Sanjeev Kohli
•••
🔝 and all photos are from Getty Images, reposted on: Outlander Online 5 November 2017 and on Outlander Online 3 November 2019
•••
It’s often helpful to have been here, Tumblring, since 2014, Season 1.* You know where the bodies are buried, usually recall who did or said what when, and almost always remember when you’ve seen particular photos before. All the photos on this post were taken, uploaded, and posted on the same days as the events they represent in 2017 and in 2019. (Brian subscribes to the Tumblr Economy Package, and is limited to using only 10 images per post, otherwise he would use more lovely photos from those events.)
But… if you look on the Getty Images website, you’ll see “Upload dates” of the 27th and the 29th of January 2024. 🤯 What the… how could that be, Brian? You just said the photos were uploaded on the same day they were taken.
They were. How else did Outlander Online, and fans on Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and elsewhere post them earlier than January of this year?
Remember when 🙃 Getty Images changed a server and all photo upload dates were, well, updated? It’s similar to when you might transfer your photos from one hard disk to another. The new disc retains data, such as when the photo was taken and any text included in the EXIF of that photo. However, the upload date changes, from the date of the original or the last upload, to the date you uploaded the photos to the new disk.
So… Getty Images uploaded the 2017 photos to another server on 27 January, and 2019’s on 29 January, 2024. 😃

i just saw the adam sandler tag pls tell that story if there is more to it absjdndnjd
when i was 8 my family was staying at a hotel in boston because the bruins had just won the cup and adam sandler was there filming a movie (i think it was that’s my boy? idk the year was 2011). he was apparently staying at the same hotel as us, because he came into the pool with his daughter (she was around my age i think) and after a while he started talking to my dad about being a parent or whatever and he told my dad that i’m a really good swimmer. we were the only ppl at the pool who weren’t going up to him and being like ‘holy shit ur adam sandler’ so he just struck up a conversation with us

I HATE YOU— C. BROCK.
prompt; you and colby have never gotten along. you always bickered and never saw eye to eye. so, when your friendship group plans a trip that he’s invited to—you make it your life’s purpose to keep as far away from him as possible. although, that plan does down the drain when you have to share a room for 2 weeks..
warnings; SMUT, p in v sex, rough sex, unprotected sex, fingering, dirty talk, mentions of angst and arguing, cursing/swearing, enemies to lovers trope.
Tumblr media
“Oh, how fucking great.”
The words fell past his lips faster than your brain could compute what the flight attendant was telling you.
A loud sigh fell past your lips as you thanked her and continued walking to your seat. Colby was slow to follow.
It was bad enough that you were going on a group trip together, let alone having to sit next to each other on a five hour flight. You knew he was in a bad mood regardless due to his lack of sleep, and you knew your presence wasn’t making it any better.
You and Colby have never got along. You don’t know when it started, but you’ve never connected. At the start, you wouldn’t engage much and just stay out of each others way. But now, you fought, a lot. Your friends loved to compare you to a married couple—that really pissed you two off. You don’t really have a reason as to why you dislike Colby so much, you just do. Something about him just irritates you—whether it’s his ridiculous hair, or whining about not having a girlfriend, or how stupid rich he was. And you weren’t sure why Colby didn’t like you, but you didn’t care—the feelings were mutual.
So, when your best friend, Katrina, floated the idea of a group trip a few months ago, you were sparked with excitement. Until you realised Colby would be joining. And even better, the people coming on his trip were couples—besides you and Colby. How fabulous.
As you got comfortable in your window seat, you gazed out it with a comfortable smile on your face—trying to ignore the shuffles and huffs of annoyance from beside you.
“Do you wanna take up anymore room?”
Turning your head to face him, a smirk formed on your face as you locked eyes with him, “Yeah, sure.” You teased, pushing your legs out next to his.
With a harsh kick, Colby moved your legs back to under your seat, grabbing his headphones and placing them in his ears, “Don’t talk to me for the entire flight.” He stated, shutting his eyes and leaning his head back against the chair.
“Finally, something smart coming out of your mouth.” You mumbled, turning back to face the window.
The flight was peaceful, you got up once to go to the bathroom—having to disturb Colby which only lead to a small argument. Mixed with having to ignore the dirty looks he shot you when you returned to your seat.
“How was it?” Katrina asked, slinging her carry-on bag over her shoulder as you exited the plane.
“Take a wild guess.” You spoke sarcastically, raising your eyebrows at her. Katrina chuckled quietly, knowing the answer without you even having to tell her.
The bus ride to the hotel was short—almost everybody dozed off while they waited to arrive. Katrina happily rested her head on your shoulder as she snored, not noticing the way you huffed angrily as you listened to Colby complain about how you awoke him on the flight.
God, he was an ass.
“Alright, this is us.” Sam spoke, grabbing his bag and slinging it over his shoulder, grabbing Katrina’s arm gently and rocking her awake.
The hotel was beautiful. Large, white pillars rose up from the ground guarding the fancy double doors to the entrance that remained open due to the heat. Surrounding the hotel were trees and plants, paired with colourful flowers—contrasting the white of the walls.
“It’s beautiful.” Colby spoke, admiring the hotel with his ocean, blue eyes.
“I know I am, but thanks anyways, Colbs.” You winked, turning around to shoot him a smug look.
Colby rolled his eyes in irritation, “Don’t flatter yourself. And don’t call me that.”
“Okay, Colbs.”
“God, you’re insufferable.” Colby breathed, shaking his head in annoyance.
“Please, can we have one nice holiday without you guys fighting?” Sam snapped, raising his eyebrows at the two of you.
“Sorry.” You both mumbled in unison, trying to please your friend. But, not enough to slyly shoot each other a dirty look as you entered the hotel.
“Hi, I have four rooms booked under the name Golbach.” Sam smiled sweetly at the receptionist as the rest of the group trailed behind.
“That’s fine, I’ve got it all paid for and set up for you.” She smiled, “So, I’ve got a Corey and Devyn in one room, then a Sam and Katrina in another.” She started handing the couples their room keys, “Then a Jake and Tara, and finally a Y/N and Colby.”
Silence.
“Nope. That’s not happening.” Colby stated, a foul expression on his face.
“Is there a problem?” The receptionist frowned.
“Yeah, we cannot be within two feet of each other without an argument.”
The receptionist laughed, “Oh, I get it. Me and my husband are like that too.”
“No, no, no.” You laughed, “We are not…We will never be…” You trailed off, suddenly feeling like lies were spilling from your lips.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” She chuckled, nervously, “But, unfortunately, in case of an emergency, I cannot change the arrangements of the rooms. I’m so sorry.”
Colby sighed loudly as he pinched the bridge of his nose, you rolled your eyes at his immaturity, “Don’t worry, it’ll be fine. Thank you.”
Grabbing the key card for the room, you wheeled your suitcase towards the room, feeling utter disappointment. You knew your holiday would now be ruined due to Colby. He would be complaining about every little thing you did, and you couldn’t help but bite back.
The room was huge. Large hallway leading up into the living area, with a 60 inch flat screen TV and rectangular coffee table in front of it. Next door rested a modernised and perfectly furnished kitchen with a marble top island in the centre.
You and Colby walked around the room in silence as you observed the beautiful room. As you walked down a small hallway, your heart raced with anxiety as you made it to the bedroom. There was only one room left, meaning that there was only one bedroom. You prayed it was double beds on opposites sides of the room.
Colby strolled slowly behind you as you pushed open the door. Your heart dropped at the sight.
Rose petals in the shape of a heart laid across the double bed, paired with others scattered across the floor leading up to it. In the corner of the room were red balloons in the shape of hearts and “Happy Holiday!” written across them. To push things further, a bottle of Champagne and two glasses rested on a circular table next to the balcony glass doors.
“Well, fuck.” Colby chuckled, “If only they knew.”
“If only they knew what?” You spat, waiting for the insult to hit you.
“That you were such a bitch, they wouldn’t have gone to all this effort.” He smirked, walking over to the bed and playing with the roses.
Ignoring his comment, you trudged towards the Champagne, popping it open and pouring yourself a glass. You sighed happily as the bubbly beverage slipped down your throat—hopefully this would calm your anger.
You and Colby didn’t speak another word the rest of the day. The others had sent a few messages to the group chat discussing dinner later in the evening, but other than that—nothing. Colby relaxed in the living area as you prepared yourself for the dinner. You elegantly did your makeup—your skin looking flawless, and your lips looking pink and plump. You then curled your gorgeous, silky hair, letting it rest comfortably on your chest as you slipped on your dress.
And by God, did you look good.
Your breasts were accentuated perfectly and your ass popped deliciously. You knew you’d get some attention tonight, and you were excited. But maybe not by who you were expecting.
Your heels clicked satisfyingly against the floor as you approached the living area. Colby was sat on the couch, phone in hand, in a suit as he scrolled endlessly. He looked up once to acknowledge your presence, before returning to his phone.
Not long after, his head snapped back towards you, a shocked expression on his face as you adjusted your coat, “What?” You spat.
Colby stared for a few seconds longer before plastering a smirk on his face, “Slutty as always.”
“Fuck you.” You seethed, glaring at him as he sauntered over to you.
“You wish, sweetheart.” He whispered, teasingly tucking a stray piece of hair behind your ear.
Pulling your head away from you, you pushed his chest, forcing him back slightly, “Don’t fucking touch me.”
“Don’t have to tell me twice.”
Taking a deep breath, you swung open the front door as you walked into the hallway. You could not deal with him tonight, you wanted to have a nice night and not be bothered by his rude remarks. Luckily, your meal with your friends was unbothered by Colby as he sat at the opposite end of the table. Thank God.
“You coming to the club?” Tara questioned as you exited the restaurant.
“Fuck yeah.” You grinned, “I wanna get fucked up tonight.”
“Easy tiger.” Sam chuckled from behind you, “Remember who you’re sharing a room with.”
“What about it?” You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion.
Sam shook his head, “Doesn’t matter.” He mumbled, turning around to engage in conversation with the boys.
Weird.
The club was busy tonight. Typical for a Friday night, though. People were everywhere—dancing, drinking and singing. Just like you.
You were 5 drinks deep and you were hammered. The buzz you felt was beyond tipsy—you knew you were a lightweight, but not this bad. Yeah, maybe the fancy dinner had unbelievable portion sizes, but the Vodka here was something else.
As a familiar song began to play, you gasped in excitement as you grasped Katrina and Tara’s arms as you grinned at Devyn in front of you. The music flowed through your body as the rhythm picked up. The beat took over your body as you moved to the music.
You were thoroughly enjoying yourself when a pair of large hands slithered around your waist. A certain brunette asshole strangely made it’s way into your mind as you turned around, but you were, unfortunately, met with a stranger.
“Hey, beautiful.” The tall mousey brunette smirked down at you, “Care to dance?”
Feeling extremely drunk and dangerously cheeky, you agreed. Your hips moving sensually against his as he gripped your waist while you danced. Your eyes wondered over to the bar where your four male friends stood, watching over you and your friends. Your eyes locked with Colby’s and, more specifically, the angry look on his face.
A devilish smirk crept its way up on your lips, an evil idea making its way into your mind. Bending over, you couldn’t help but grind on the strange man behind you, watching as Colby’s face dropped even further at your action.
You ignored the cheers from your friends as you retained the eye contact with Colby as you flipped your hair over your shoulder to glance back at the very obviously aroused man. But, before you could even utter another word, you’re pulled upright and away from the dance floor.
“Dude, what the fuck?” The guy called after you, a confused expression on his face.
“Get the fuck away from her.” Colby growled towards him, shooting him a look of pure rage, one you’d never seen before. His cheeks were pink from the alcohol he’d consumed and the anger that flooded through him.
Colby swivelled back around and pulled you out of the club by your arm, his grip harsh as he did so. He didn’t utter a single word as he pushed you inside the hotel room.
“Colby..” You mumbled in a quiet voice, not knowing what to say.
“Shut up.” He spat, not turning around to face as you as he dragged you inside the bedroom and slamming the door.
“What did you do that—Mmf!” Your words were cut short when you were slammed against the wall.
“Y’know, it’s one thing to constantly be a bitch and piss me off,” Colby started, his arms above your head as he seethed above you, “But it’s another to grind on some fucking prick in front of me like I’m some sort of joke.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” You fired back, “It’s not like we’re together, Colby? I can do whatever the fuck I like.”
“Oh, is that right?” Colby laughed, darkly, “No.”
“Excuse me?”
“I said, no.” He smouldered, “You don’t get to do that around me.”
“And why’s that, Colby? Please, enlighten me, because you sound out of your fucking mind right now.”
Before you knew it, Colby’s lips were smushed against yours in a passionate kiss. You gasped into his mouth as you melted against his lips, your hands resting comfortably on his muscled arms as his laid against your warm neck. Colby grasped the underside of your thighs and pulled you off the ground, wrapping your legs around his hips.
“Colby..” You moaned breathily as his plump lips attacked your neck, “I need you.”
“Of course you do, who wouldn’t?” He teased, pulling your back off the wall and leading you both towards the bed.
“Seriously? You can’t stop being an ass even before we’re about to have sex?”
Colby chuckled from above as you laid in the rose petals beneath you, “You know, if you shut that slutty mouth for once, you’d be so pretty.”
“So I’m not already?” You fired back, shooting him a dirty look as he crawled between your legs.
“Shut up, Y/N.” He ordered, a shit-eating grin on his face as he leaned down to kiss you once more.
Colby wasted no time in stripping you of your clothes, chucking them on the floor along with his own as he continued to kiss you desperately. As Colby pulled your soaked panties off your legs, his lips slowly made their way down to your exposed breasts—his mouth finding it’s way around your mounds beautifully.
Quiet moans slipped past your lips as his hand trailed down to your core, your breathing quickening as he did so. His nimble fingers found themselves comfortably circling your aching clit, making you feel the smile against his lips as he kissed your neck. Your back arched off the bed in pure pleasure as he slipped a finger inside you, wanting nothing more than to scream out as he curled them upwards to hit your sweet spot.
“Please.” You moaned, grasping his forearm tightly as you scrunched your face up in pleasure.
Soon enough, Colby pushed your legs up and onto his shoulders, his tip teasingly rubbing against your soaked entrance. With a few whines and whimpers of desperation, Colby swiftly pushed his cock deep inside you. As a shocked moan rasped from your throat, he sped up his hips as he rocked his throbbing dick in and out of you.
“Oh, yes, don’t stop!” You sobbed, tears falling past your eyes as he pushed your legs further back to reach deeper inside your slutty pussy.
“Jesus, why didn’t I do this sooner?” He mumbled, his cheeks flared red as he huffed with each thrust.
Colby quickly got bored as he pulled out and flipped you on your stomach, pulling your ass into the air and slipping back into your warm hole. You gripped the bedsheets as he ruthlessly destroyed you from behind, degrading names filling the room as he spoke. You crumbled petals in your fists as you clung onto the bed for life, Colby showing no mercy as he fucked you.
“You’re such a whore, aren’t you?” Colby spat, yanking your hair back as your ear met his lips, “You’ve been begging for me to fuck for years now, haven’t you?”
“Yes! yes, yes, Colby. Wanted you for—Aah! for so long.” You blabbered, your throat feeling sore and dry from all the screaming that erupted from it.
“What a good girl—finally.” He praised, letting your hair loose as your head hit the sheets once more, feeling the pleasure build up in your stomach as his fingers deliciously rubbed your clit, “Fuck, I’m close.”
Before you could realise, Colby was cumming deep inside you as your own orgasm hit. His name released itself from your lips countless times as he fucked his load further inside you. As you came down from your high of ecstasy, Colby pulled out of you slowly, falling next to you on the bed.
“Fuck, Y/N.” He mumbled, his eyes staring intensely at the ceiling as he regained his breath, “That was something.”
“It sure was.” You murmured back, feeling a sense of awkwardness fill the air, as you coughed nervously, “I’m gonna go shower.”
But, before you could even move, Colby’s arms slid around your waist and pulled you close to his warm body. A smile rose to your face as he spooned you, pressing a kiss to your shoulder.
“We can get to that later.” He informed you, nuzzling his head into your neck as he closed his eyes, “And don’t worry, we can go back to hating each other in the morning.”

Random SOC Trivia I Gathered On My Reread
I'll be using this for fics, but it's fun just to read!
Jesper does not hold alcohol well (though this is according to Kaz, who is not exactly impartial)
Wijnstraat, Nemstraat, Havenstraat, Ammberstraat are all street names if you want em
Van Eck has been involved in trying to clean up the Barrel; pious. (Allegedly pious, I doubt he really is)
1/5 Van Eck (or general Kerch trading?) vessels are lost at sea
Kaz arrested three times at ten, twice at eleven, once at fourteen. Does stints in jail but it does not say prison (ppl assume he's been to Hellgate / another prison but I don't think so. He'd never have shut the fuck up about it if he had; I assume the Stadhall Jail)
Kaz's cane is lead-lined. I wasn't sure if this was canon or fanon
Kaz runs book on prize fights, horses, and chance games. Floor boss at crow club since fifteen-ish. Youngest to run a betting shop and has doubled the profits.
Gambling halls: Treasure Chest, Golden Bend, Weddell's Riverboat, Silver Garter
West Stave brothels: The Blue Iris, The Forge, The Obscura, the Willow Switch, the House of Snow
Van Aakster is the widow mercher who sees Nina to ease his grief
Inej likes orange cakes in white paper
Black Tips tattoo is a hand with first and second fingers cut at the knuckle, Razorgulls is 5 birds in wedge formation
Nina Jesper and Kaz definitely all have the crow and cup; the others don't
Jordie seems to like books
ridderspel and spijker are arcade games
Bilge, clams, and wet stone smell in the Barrel (per Retvenko)
Kaz definitely is partial to dogs; Smeet's hounds and the grey dog the Hertzoon household had, the windup dogs, the metaphors. He loves a dog metaphor sorry ur not real babycakes you'd have loved thematic web weaving posts
Geldspin is the cotton mill in Zierfoort, Firma Allerbest is a cannery. Both in Alys' name
Wylan was 8 when Marya 'died'
the black veil tomb is carved like an ancient cargo ship
3 flying fish on a grave: government. Palm trees and snakes: spices.
Inej's mother braids her hair with orange ribbons (colour of persimmons)
University a series of buildings built around the Boekcanal and joined by Speaker's Bridge (where people debate and/or drink). Boeksplein four libraries built around a central courtyard and the Scholar's Fountain
Shipping container at third harbour is a Liddie hideout; Jam Tart House is an old hotel near the slat that the Razorgulls use
Long scar across Kaz's right knuckle
Violating contracts and interfering with the market can get you hanged in Kerch; same sentences as for murder (this is. Insane)
Haskell holds court with his mates at the Fair Weather Inn every week
Belendt is the second oldest Kerch city and sits on the Droombeld River
Jesper was 7 when Aditi died
Inej has an uncle (who seems to have some sort of ringmaster role) and cousins; Hanzi and Asha
Kaz convinced a locksmith in Klokstraat that he was the son of a wealthy merchant who highly valued his collection of priceless snuffboxes, and that's how he knows what locks the rich are using
Hubrecht Mohren, Master Thief of Pijl, who Kaz doesn't appear to think much of; one of Haskell's old cronies
Martin Van Eck, Wylan's great great grandfather, was a ship's captain, brought back a big shipment of spices from Eames Chin and started the Van Eck fortune
Kaz and Jesper (+ other Dregs boys) taught Inej to fight
Kaz and Jordie are from a town near Lij, as per the 'Johannus Rietveld' exposition, but Lij is seemingly the closest major city/county so it's easier to just say they're from Lij lol
The last time the Council of Tides appeared in public was 25 years prior to CK
Kaz found Filip running a monte game on Kelstraat; he also got the clerks who turned over fake info, the fake attorney, the man who gave them free hot chocolate
The spelling of Zentzbridge lapses to Zentsbridge, not sure which is right or if they're actually separate bridges or if there's a lot of wrong quotes floating around lol
Dryden house symbol is the golden wheat sheaf bound with a blue ribbon; Van Eck is the red laurel but we knew that
Kaz taught himself finance and gambling hall rules
Church of Barter roof is copper and long has turned green
Church of Barter built around the First Forge / The Mortar, which is a flat lump of rock that's supposedly Ghezen's altar
Ghezendaal Hospital is. Idk. a hospital. Just thought ppl might want the name

i've been thinking about the whole "friction in his jeans" thing a lot lately, and while it is certainly one of the more iconic instances of the lyric in the CD booklet being different from the actual song, it is far from the only one. on top of that, there are quite a few lyrics that play with double meanings that only become clear when they're written out.
so, i present a collection of every lyric in the fob CD booklets that differ from the final version, punctuation and double meanings that aren't noticeable unless the song is written out, and any other interesting details i find in the process, or a really long post of me cornplating about fob:
disclaimer that if the difference is small enough/doesn't change the meaning of the line i won't include it because that would take me years (for example, the book says "light that smoke for giving up on me" and patrick says "yeah, one for giving up on me" but literally who cares that changes nothing. everything i include here is relevant, i think)
follow-up disclaimer that there are a bunch of fucking typos in every single one of these books because these boys never proofread anything but unless i think it's significant in some way i probably will skip it
TAKE THIS TO YOUR GRAVE:
tell that mick:
"I hope you choke on those words, that kiss, that bottle - I confess / now ash yourself out on the insides, when I said I loved you I swear I lied"
grand theft autumn:
"someday i'll appreciate in value, get off my ass and call you... but for the meantime i'll sport my brand new fashion of waking up with my clothes on at 4:00 in the afternoon"
saturday:
"pete and i said goodbye to astoria with promise and precision and mess of youthful innocence"
(most of these are just silly but this one fucking hurts)
sending postcards:
"fake it like you matter - cause that's the biggest secret you have to keep"
chicago is so two years ago:
"that means that I believed every single lie you said (and learned from the best)"
"cause every pain of glass that your pebbles tap negates the pains i went through to avoid you / and every little pat on the shoulder for attention fails to mention i still hate you" (pain of glass instead of pane of glass - i think this is supposed to be a parallel. that or pete just misspelled pane)
patron saint:
"I'm holding out and I'm holding on to every letter and every grudge"
*flashes forward 20 years to hmlag*
anyway
FROM UNDER THE CORK TREE:
our lawyer made us change the name of this song so we wouldn't get sued:
"we're good friends only when you're on your knees"
sugar:
the icon, the legend
"don't mind me, i'm watching you two from the closet wishing to be the friction in his jeans" 🎉🏳️‍🌈
dark alley:
"joke me something awful just like kisses on the necks of 'just friends'"
"I'm hopelessly hopeful that you're just hopeless enough"
champagne for my real friends, real pain for my shrimp friends:
"you steer away in a rearview mirror, make my head swim"
i slept with someone in fob:
"someone old, no one new / always borrowed, always you"
THIS ONE!! THIS FUCKING ONE [CAR CRASH] [SIRENS]
ahem. anyway
sixteen candles:
"i confess, i'm just messed up / dropping 'i'm sorrys' like you're still around"
XO:
"to hands"
(that's it. no "between legs, and whatever it takes" just hands. just fuckin. to hands)
"to hotel stares/stairs" (wordplay!! to clarify it literally says "stares/stairs" in the book)
"choose awe or sympathy"
also in the last verse it says 'to the "love"' with the quotes which is just kinda funny
INFINITY ON HIGH:
this ain't a scene:
"crashing not like hips or hearts"
i'm like a lawyer:
"i only keep myself this sick in the head cause i know how the words get you (off)"
"collect the bad habits that you couldn't bare to keep" (idk this one might just be a typo)
hum hallelujah:
similarly, this might also be a typo, but "versus" is spelled "verses"
(after) life:
ok. ok. hear me out. this is the cornplatiest i have ever been. but on genius it says "death's in a double bed"
and on the lyric book it says "deaths in a double bed"
that changes everything!!! (not really, i know) it's not death as a concept or figure or whatever it's deaths. as in multiple people dying. aaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaughhhhhhhhhhh
moving on
carpal tunnel:
"we take the sip from life's lush lips"
the line "we might've started singing just a little soon" isn't listed, it's just the goodbye line twice
"but i'm just tired yawns for fawns"
you're crashing:
"the cause, the kid, the charm, and the curse"
ginasfs:
"lips pressed this close to mine"
"but the prince of this failing empire knows" (hhhnnnggggggghhh)
"i've already given up on myself once but the third time is the charm" that's not how numbers work pete <3
"just kind of figured on not figuring myself out"
FOLIE A DEUX:
folie a deux doesn't have a lyric book. just portraits of the boys with empty white pages that have their names written on them. my poor beautiful masterpiece
BELIEVERS NEVER DIE VOL. 1:
fnowae:
not a lyric but for some reason the whole fuckin song is in quotes
SAVE ROCK AND ROLL:
the phoenix:
another punctuation thing but instead of "hope to die" it's "hope-to-dies"
"you're wearing our vintage misery"
alone together:
"my heart is like a stallion, they love it more when it's broke in" instead of "broken" (i love double meanings!! i love wordplay!! i love pete wentz!!)
where did the party go:
"i will appear to you if you make yourself shake fast enough"
the mighty fall:
the lyric book straight up doesn't have big sean's part 💔
rat a tat:
at the end there's this "talk less / mean more / let's be electric / like we were before" that i have literally never heard so i'm assuming it's a neat little cut lyric
save rock and roll:
"i will save the songs / the songs we're singing"
AMERICAN BEAUTY / AMERICAN PSYCHO:
irresistible:
"coming in announced" this one. this one's just a typo. come on boys it's been 12 years at this point read the books more than once
"i just dragged my nails on the tile / i just follow your scent" ?? idk
"this will not be a battle"
ab/ap:
for some fucking reason it just says "she's an american beauty" three times at the start of the song 😭
"and as we're drifting off to sleep" isn't in there, it just says "and all those dirty thoughts of me, they were never yours to keep"
the kids aren't alright:
indulge me once more, reader. i am cornplating again
instead of "former heroes who quit too late and just wanna fill up their trophy case again" it's "wanted to" do you understand why that makes me insane
also they have it as "will put your curse in reverse" instead of "we" which could be a typo but could also be a neat little change
uma thurman:
"you cut me deep like uma thurman"
jet pack blues:
"i'm the kind that can turn june to september / the last one that you'll ever remember"
"between these two white highway signs"
immortals:
"i try to picture you without me but i can't"
M A N I A:
hold me tight or don't:
the line "i'm pretty sure that this isn't how our story ends" isn't included
wilson:
"i know it's just a number but to me you're the 8th wonder"
sunshine riptide:
they didn't include any of burna boy's lines 😒
SO MUCH (FOR) STARDUST:
smfs doesn't have any lyric changes that i noticed, just the usual typos.
update: future emma here, upon further contemplation I have decided to add the line "I'd never go, I just want to be invited" since the first verse definitely says "I'll" (thank you sugarweregoinin and foliejpg for inspiring this revelation)
and there we have it! if you're insane patient enough to have made it until the end, thank you for reading and i hope you enjoyed! if there are any i missed/any in CDs that i don't have please let me know i find these so fascinating (if you couldn't tell). i just love getting glimpses into their writing process and seeing how the songs we know and love evolve before they get to us. i might also do a post about how spotify/genius gets a bunch of their lyrics wrong because it pisses me off but this is all for now, good day/night!

transcript below.
(trees rustling, ocean waves crash in the distance)
(Poppy walks quickly towards the flower field)
Poppy: Elia?
Elia: Look at you! You’ve grown along so nicely, little friend.
Poppy: (in distance) Elia?! Where are you?
(Elia rises from flowers)
Elia: Poppy? I didn’t know you were —
Poppy: There you are! Why don’t you answer your phone?!
Elia: Hello to you too?
(Poppy paces nervously)
Poppy: I have news.
Elia: Okay.
Poppy: Bad news!
(Elia reaches for flower, then abruptly stops)
Elia: Uh oh.. What’s wrong?
Poppy: Well. (sharp exhales) God.
Elia: Go on.
(Poppy walks ahead, Elia follows)
Poppy: Maybe you should sit down first.
Elia: Huh? Is someone hurt?
Poppy: Worse.
Elia: Poppy?!
Poppy: It’s the wedding venue!
Elia: That’s it?! You scared m—
Poppy:They.. They canceled on us. It fell through!
Elia: (confused) What?
Poppy: Apparently they double booked. “A new employee mix up.” Can you believe?! The next date isn’t available until like, two years from now!
Elia: But..
Poppy: I know. I know! I’m scrambling, it’s all fucked! The flights, the hotel, the catering, the everything!
Elia: So.. I’m not getting married where my parents did?
(Poppy looks down, defeated)
Poppy: No.
Elia: I-I don’t know what to say. (attempts to hide the sadness in her voice) That.. Really sucks.
Poppy: I tried everything, I even offered more money! They wouldn’t budge. I’m so sorry, Elia.
Elia: I know you must;ve. It’s not your fault.
Poppy: Look at you, you’re heart broken! (groans) Those assholes. Screw you Windenburg Chalet Gardens!
Elia: Hey, no.. It’s—
Poppy: Don’t say it’s fine. It’s not fine. Any other bride would be freaking out right now. I’m more upset than you are!
Elia: What, do you expect me to yell at you? Throw a fit? It won’t change a thing.
Poppy: It’d at least be better than the sadness I see now.
Elia: It is what it is.
(Poppy sighs)
Elia: Well.. What do we do? Do I call it off and elope?
Poppy: No! No way.
Elia: Hard to believe we can do anything now. We’re at square one.
Poppy: Give me a few days and I’ll fix this. We can still have a wedding, a damn good one at that!
Elia: (doubtful) How?

This really wasn't how you expected your night to end up. You thought you would be on a plane heading home, but instead, you and San were staring at the small eerily empty room of a motel in the middle of God knows where.
Both of you were tired, but the unsettling atmosphere was sending shocks of adrenaline through both of you. You knew you would be awake for most of the night.
It all started with grid-locked traffic that caused you and San to miss the flight with the rest of the boys. Then you made the decision to drive two hours to the next city to get a flight, since no other would be available at your previous location until the next day.
But of course, the weather was not on your side. Halfway there, a storm alert panicked your taxi driver, and instead of ending up at an airport, you ended up at a terrifying motel surrounded by nothing but trees and fields just as the storm started.
The good news in all of this, was that they had an available room. The bad news was of course, that the motel was terrifying and seemed to come right out of every ghost movie you'd ever watched.
Now you and San were walking silently around the small room, wondering if you were going to get any sleep at all tonight. Between the haunting location, the whistling wind, and booming thunder outside, you weren't too sure.
You sat down on the edge of one of the beds, while San sighed and lied down on the other.
"At least the beds are comfy." He mumbled.
You smiled, "Too bad this place is objectively creepy."
He chuckled as he grabbed the remote on the nightstand. "This should help."
Turning on the tv, an unfamiliar show began playing but the sound instantly made the quiet room more comfortable.
"I'm glad I'm not alone though." San said with a smile to you and you chuckled, trying to ignore how your heartbeat picked up.
Of course being alone in this place would be much more terrifying, but you were sure your nervously beating heart may prefer if it had been someone else. But no, it was San, the one person you were head-over-heels for. Who you were now stuck in a room alone with.
You weren't sure if it was a blessing or a curse. Though, unbeknownst to you, the night would reveal which.
After you both changed into pajamas, you sat in silence as you watched the movie on the TV. There was an unsettling tension hanging between you as you shared nervous looks every time you heard an unfamiliar sound.
Creaks in the hallway, thuds from the closet, even the sound of footsteps on what would be the rooftop.
When a loud clang sounded in the bathroom, you jumped as you looked over at San who was frozen, staring at the darkened bathroom. He slowly met your eyes and you shared a conversation without speaking.
'You check.'
'Why me, you check!'
Reaching out his hand you followed his movements as you played rock, paper, scissors.
As you stared at your flat hand and his two out-stretched fingers, you cursed as you eyed the bathroom.
Slowly getting up with a sigh, you crept towards the bathroom aware of San's eyes following you closely.
Reaching out, you pushed open the ajar door, and the creaking sounds filled the room, sending goosebumps up your arms. Quickly switching on the light your heart jumped, but you were filled with uneasy relief as you saw nothing. In all honesty, you were hoping to find a rat, anything that might explain the noises other than ghosts.
Spotting a clothes hangar on the floor, you picked it up, aware that it had been hanging on the shower rod before.
Stepping out into the room, you showed it to San. "It fell."
"How?" San questioned and you shrugged setting it on the TV stand, trying not to think too much about it.
Lying back down you groaned, "I almost wish we were stranded in the car still."
San chuckled, but he felt the same. He had previously been buzzing with nervous excitement at the idea of sharing a room with you. But he wasn't expecting the creepy motel to steal his thoughts away from you.
Hearing a scratching sound from the closet beside your bed, you jolted up. You groaned as you wiggled around in frustration.
San eyed you before he moved over to one side of his bed, "Hey."
You looked over at him and he patted the bed beside him. You rose your brow and he smiled, "I think we'll both feel better."
"What, if we cuddle?" You asked teasingly, but your heart was racing
He raised his brow and spoke in an even more teasing tone, obviously trying to help lighten the mood. "If you want."
You rolled your eyes but did not reject the idea as you walked over to his bed, crawling in beside him. You kept a few inches between you, not actually cuddling with him. Though, he was secretly disappointed at this.
You brought your knees up to your chest as you tried to focus on the TV again, now acutely aware of Sans presence, and the unfamiliar noises around you.
Your eyes drifted over to the closet again and San leaned closer, "Want me to look this time?"
You jumped at this before hissing, looking over at him, ignoring the proximity of his face. He grinned, amused that he scared you.
"No, it's fine." You said, trying to repress your fear.
"Are you still scared?" He asked, amusement in his tone.
You rolled your eyes, "You're scared too!"
"Am not!" He challenged and you gasped.
"Oh please, you are just as freaked out as I am, admit it!"
Before he could speak, you both froze as the sound of footsteps sounded in the hall.
"Okay, I am." He admitted suddenly and you felt him move a bit closer to you.
You resisted the urge to lean back into his presence for comfort.
You stared at the door and spoke softly, "It's just another guest."
San nodded, "Right."
As the footsteps got louder, they stopped right in front of your door. you and San waited silently. Were they going to knock? Were they looking for their room?
Another moment passed and no noise was heard. You nervously looked over at San, now worried about what the unknown person was going to do.
San rose and you watched with baited breath as he crept as softly as he could to the door before peering through the peep hole.
Stepping away a moment later, he turned to you and his face was blank, but fear was obvious in his eyes. "There's no one out there."
How? You heard the footsteps come, but not leave? Where would they have gone?
"That's not funny." Your voice was obviously shaken.
San just shook his head softly. "I'm not joking."
Suddenly a bright flash filled the room before a clap of thunder shook the walls. Darkness filled the room and you let out a yelp as you jumped back. You heard hurried footsteps before San jumped into the bed, his arms wrapping around you as you heard his own startled breaths.
You gripped onto his arm for a moment before you both relaxed, taking a few breaths.
"Oh my God." You mumbled out as you let out a few deep breaths.
Silence hung in the air for a moment before you both let out nervous laughs.
"That was such bad timing." San mumbled between nervous chuckles, still holding onto you.
"Were you serious? There was no one outside?"
He nodded, "There was no one. Maybe they just walked away really softly?"
"Yeah." You agreed, though doubt was obvious in your tone.
Looking towards San, you could just see his face due to the full-moon light coming through the windows. His face was barely an inch from yours, his breath brushed your skin.
When you spoke, your nose almost brushed his. He felt your breath on his lips and he felt a shiver of temptation crawl through him.
"I'm scared." Your voice was a whisper.
You felt San's grip tighten ever-so-slightly around you. He replied, his voice just as quiet. "Me too. But it's okay, I've got you."
His words, and touch comforted you, and you felt safer than you had all night. He was and always would be a safe place for you, even if he drove your heart crazy.
"Stay here tonight." He mumbled, his nose now brushing yours.
Your heart was beating like crazy and you wondered if he could feel it. But his words confused you.
"What else would I do, find another motel?" You asked softly, almost amused
He let out a soft breathy laugh, before shaking his head. "No, I meant here. In my bed."
Your heart leapt to your throat and your breath hitched. Sharing a room with him was hard enough, but sharing the same bed?
He could sense your reservation and he wondered if it was out of discomfort, or the same fear of temptation and hidden feelings he held.
"Only if you're comfortable. But...I think it might be less frightening. And I would feel better if I knew you were close."
A thousand thoughts rushed though your head as you softly nodded, "Okay."
You stared in silence at each other, his face slowly becoming more visible as your eyes adjusted to the darkness. You thought you saw his eyes flick to your lips and linger for a moment but you felt it might just be your eyes seeing things unclearly.
Slowly, you felt his hands move from around your arms to your waist, and you felt a shiver run up your spine. His breath seemed to brush your face more than before as you wondered if he was inching closer.
As another flash of lightning lit up the room, you jumped, before suddenly freezing as San gripped you close, his lips smashing into yours.
Astonishment and excitement ran through you as you realized he was kissing you. But before you could return the kiss, he was pulling away.
"I'm sorry." The words rushed out, and you felt your heart drop a little.
Your eyes locked as silent hung between you for a moment. Butterflies rushed through you, but so did disappointment at his sudden regret.
"Why are you sorry?" You asked softly, a hint of despondence in your tone he did not miss.
"What?" He felt hope rise in his chest as his heart beat heavily.
He was surprised at his own actions, as he moved without thinking, finally having kissed you like he had been imagining for ages.
"Why are you sorry?" You repeated.
Silence hung in the air for a second as you felt his hands tighten on your waist again.
"I guess I'm not." He mumbled out before you felt his lips meet yours again as he quickly pulled you against his chest.
The kiss became heated as your hands found his neck and hair, your fingers causing a shiver to course through him. His own hands pressed into your skin as he pulled you closer.
Another heated moment passed before you both pulled away, letting out breathy laughs as he rested his forehead against yours. He kissed you again, but pulled away a moment later, not wanting to act on his impulsiveness quite yet. And definitely not here.
"I've been wanting to do that for so long." He breathed out before pressing a kiss to the corner of your mouth.
You grinned as you let out a soft giggle. "The feeling's mutual."
"I definitley wasn't expecting this to be how, or where, I admitted it."
You chuckled as you were reminded of your surroundings. Being reminded even more when a bang sounded from the hallway, making you jolt.
You let out a soft gasp as San suddenly pushed you down in the bed before covering the both of you with the sheets. Realizing he was hiding the two of you, you laughed.
He chuckled as he pulled you close to him, wrapping his arms around you. "There, now we're safe, nothing can get us."
You giggled again as you placed your face against his chest, as he placed his head on yours, pulling you even closer and letting out a contented sigh.
"Can't say it wasn't a unique confession." He mumbled.
"It'll make for a great story." You admitted and he let out a soft laugh.
"A love story or a ghost story?"
"Both?"
He laughed as he nodded his head, pressing a kiss to the top of yours before cuddling you closer. "Both."
xx End xx
