I finished IBO. Nice series but I think it was way too bloody for it's own good and the deaths are too predictable. They always go like "Oh wow lite Timmy, your life is so much better now and you have so much to lose!" and then in the next ten minutes Little Timmy is ripped apart by a dog. That's annoying but not always a big deal, but couple that to how unceremonious some deaths and it just feels kind of unsatisfying.

THAT SAID, EVERY LOVE TRIANGLE SHOULD BE LIKE THE ONE IN IBO. I ADORE ATRA SO MUCH, SHE'S THE FUCKING BEST. Every single love triangle would be 100% improved by having a little weirdo that just want everyone to get along a little too much.

All in all, that was some goodass gundam.

It’s in an abandoned fishing cabin in the depths of a Swedish forest that Scott sees you naked for the first time. There’s a fire roaring in the stone hearth, wood that’s been stacked alongside of it for years crackling under the flames. There’s no electric, the pipes are frozen from the continuously plunging temperature. The snow from the storm has blanketed the glass on windows, shielding you from the outside world. The only light is from the candle that someone had plunged into the top of an empty wine bottle.

Your wet clothes hang over the door, his shirt, your jeans, your boots dying close to the heath. The two of you are nestled under a set of dusty blankets that you’d managed to scrounge from the bedroom.

Scott never envisioned that it would be like this. He imagined he would take his time undressing you, that he’d kiss you, caress you. Instead it’s chattering teeth, damp skin, and fuckload of adrenaline because the two of you were being hunted by a Russian hitsquad.

Nobody had expected the storm, not them, not you, not Scott. You’d lost them in the snow, stumbled onto this place but the temperature’s still dropping and the two of you are in bad shape. You’re clothes had been soaking, the only option had been to remove them, dry them out with the heat from the fire. He’d tried to be respectful, kept his back to you as you undressed, waited until you were under the blankets before he’d climbed in alongside of you.

The awkward part is the spooning, his bare skin pressing against yours. He’s apologetic as he curls around you, your back resting against his chest. He tries to be as gentle as possible as he holds you. You’ve both taken a beating, he can feel the agony with every breath he takes and he knows you must do too. He buries his face into the curve of your neck, his eyes closing. Your fingers entwin with his, clasping his hand to your chest as you nestle in closer.

“Try and get some sleep.” He whispers into your ear. “I promise I’ll keep you safe tonight.”

Been thinking about recently about how it’s actually pretty weird that we haven’t seen a huntsmen/huntress team based on The Three Musketeers. Like if they’re introduced after their d’Artangnan has joined, they fit the ‘four-person close-nit team of adventurers’ flawlessly.

I mean, consider this: While I do love how the Ace-Ops turned out, can we talk about how a Musketeers-inspired huntsmen team would have been goddamned PERFECT as Ironwood’s top huntsmen? Or just as an elite team of Atlisian huntsmen in general?

First, they fit the european theme that permeates through much of Atlas’s literary/folklore references. They also easily fit the whole coming off as noble and heroic on the surface when first meeting them just like the Ace-Ops did. And if you’ve actually read the books, you know that the Musketeers actually engage in a metric SHITLOAD of morally dubious actions. I mean they are basically a pre-modern equivalent to a black-ops hitsquad who reports directly to the French king. Like at that point the villain-turn once Jimmy Child-shooter dives off the deep-end practically writes itself!

I mean if anything, I suppose the reason we don’t see Musketeers-inspired team in Atlas is because they fit TOO well, and RWBY is all about not playing its allusions straight. In which case maybe when we meet such a team, they turn out to be EX-Atlas huntsmen? Maybe the predecessors of the Ace-Ops who actually got sick of being morally compromised and went rogue?
