happy 17th, hinata. you’ve been looking forward to this for AGES. never stopped talking about how you couldn’t wait to be the dancing queen.

i know if you were here you’d be teasing me about how you’re soooo much older than me even though it’s only a couple months. we’d make you a cake, probably pink, and get you gifts, probably kuromi themed, and we’d all be happy. your little sisters would band together to pick flowers for a crown for you, theodore would play you something nerdy on the piano and asa would… do whatever asa does. i will always be proud to have called you nee-chan. i love you, i love you, i love you. you were the best older sister and co-host and best friend in the world and i miss you every moment.

kai does too. she talked about you a while ago, with ben— you remember ben— and she mentioned how you always made her feel like she had a place here. how you went out of your way to welcome her, and you did that for everyone. chris probably wouldn’t be here if not for you. we’d all be a little worse off for it.

anyway thank you for making me a marian, and thank you for showing me how to be truly good. thank you for making me laugh and singing with me and instructing me on the art of bracelet making. thank you for making it so i didn’t fail physics. thank you for everything.

she knew she was going to die and she still smiled. she left the letter at 10am, the photo at 11am, and what? did she just lie there eating a lollipop awaiting her fate? she smiled. there were tear stains on the inside of her glasses. she wore the best friend necklace we got from our. well. best friend. she wore the bracelet they made for her. the earrings i bought for her. the shirt i stole with her in mind. i feel sick. the last photo she ever took of herself and she’s smiling and i didn’t even know better so i posted it to my fucking monthly recap on instagram and washed and folded the shirt like it was any other shirt and she died in that shirt. i can’t take this

himawari was her song. she heard it and smiled so widely… she said she felt like it was talking to her. she saw herself in the words. she sang it to her little sisters to put them to bed.

the first translyrics i ever did were of himawari, for her, and she dropped everything to learn them.
