Thinking about Hijikata actually have feelings for Chizuru way far before he actually confessed it.. Like the feelings already there since they were in kyoto, but he was either too busy to think about it or think of it as a silly thing so he didn't explore his own feeling.

Imagine Hijikata in his room back in Kyoto, supposedly doing his work but currently procrastinating (Hijikata biyori confirmed he actually did procrastinating lol) and suddenly his mind fly to Chizuru, which also sending more blood to his heart making it beat faster. I can see his eyes grows wide and then he will shakes his head brutally. Screaming inside "TF YOU JUST THINK TOSHI, YOU'RE NOT A TEENAGER AND YOU HAVE MANY WORK TO DO" to himself, it ends up with him actually doing his work to take his mind off chizuru lol

in other news i started playing hakuoki just so i have an idea what's going on when i get around to watching shinkai hijikata-hen (HOPEFULLY i can buy a stream) and wow. that bit where chizuru thinks that hijikata has the aura of cherry blossoms the first time they meet all while he's got a sword at her throat. number one: okay foreshadowing go brrr, number two: soulmatism go brrr

Can't stop thinking about Ezo Wins! AU HijiChi Christmas. Like Ootori and Enomoto and the French soldiers are talking about Christmas coming up and Chizuru says something offhand about having to think of something to give Hijikata and Hijikata frustratedly realizes he has to participate now too. Except he has way too much fun finding gifts for her and now it's December 20th and he's secretly dying inside but Chizuru refuses to open anything until Christmas day. In the meantime, he stalls his impatience with the seasonal excuse to cuddle as much as possible.

Anyway after just a few years of this he reluctantly becomes a Christmas expert. After seeing Chizuru gawk at the decorations he starts decorating their own house, though each year he gets more and more competitive with the neighbors. Every year, the oni no fukuchou's house is the brightest in the neighborhood, and Chizuru is ecstatic.
