Ubisoft® announced the For Honor® Hero Series, an international tournament program organised in partnership with ESL, taking place this summer starting July 8TH across all platforms in Europe and the United States. Following the weekly competitions, 16 of the top players will participate in a live event on August 12TH in Burbank, California where they will play for $10,000 in cash prizes.

This first For Honor Hero Series aims to take the game’s competitive landscape to a new level with an open call for players to join online weekly 1v1 Duel tournaments across the three available platforms over four weeks. Starting July 8TH, registered players will earn points based on their rankings following each tournament. Top players from each platform will be selected based on overall tournament standings and invited to battle in a Live Finals event where platform champions will be crowned in Burbank, CA.

The Finals will be broadcasted live on the For Honor Twitch channel (http://twitch.tv/forhonorgame), For Honor’s Facebook Live, as well as on Ubisoft’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/ubisoft), providing players the opportunity to showcase their skill on the big stage. The For Honor Hero Series will continue to grow following this first competition while listening to the community and participant feedback.

“At ESL we are committed to growing the esports landscape and For Honor’s competitive ecosystem has been something we’ve all been looking forward to,” said Sean Charles, VP of Publisher and Developer Relations, ESL. “With the For Honor Hero Series and the addition of ranked mode, there is a lot in store for future For Honor players.”

For Honor’s competitive play will continue following the Hero Series when ranked mode releases in a future update. Ranked mode will initially offer on-demand tournaments for Duel. In future updates, the ranking system will expand to Brawl as well as 4v4 game modes. For Honor’s ranking system will allow players to have separate ranks for each game mode type while fighting for higher rankings and win exclusive loot. Those looking to get a sneak peek at ranked mode and more about the game’s future evolution can participate in the upcoming second Public Test for Duel Tournament, which will incorporate community feedback and changes to the defensive meta.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with other Ubisoft studios*, For Honor offers an engaging campaign and thrilling multiplayer modes. Players embody warriors of the three Great Factions – the bold Knights, the brutal Vikings and the deadly Samurai – fighting to the death on intense and believable melee battlefields. The Art of Battle, the game’s innovative combat system that puts players in total control of their warriors, allows them to utilize the unique skills and combat style of each hero to vanquish all enemies who stand in their way.

Nadie tomaba en serio los videojuegos hasta hace unos años, cuando los e-sports empezaron a tomar fuerza gracias a eventos como The International, League of Legends World Championship, Evolution Championship Series o el Battle.net World Championship Series, desde entonces el mundo empezó a ver de manera más serie el mundo de los videojuegos y su potencial como deporte electrónico donde personas de todo el mundo y de distintas edades compiten para poner a prueba sus habilidades y demostrar quién es el mejor detrás del mando y todas esas horas detrás del monitor empezaron a pagar su esfuerzo.

Gracias a organizaciones como la  MLG (Major League Gaming) el crecimiento de los E-Sports es inevitable, ahora has competencias que van desde FIFA hasta Call Of Duty y uno de los grandes de la industria no quiere quedar atrás, a pesar de no ser su primer videojuego en tener una serie de competencias, pues su league de RainbowSix  ya va en su segunda edición, quiere darle la oportunidad a diferentes jugadores de demostrar ser el mejor en el campo de batalla, por ello ha anunciado oficialmente For Honor Hero Series, un programa de torneos internacional organizado en alianza con ESL, el cual se llevará a cabo este verano iniciando el 8 de julio alrededor de diversas plataformas en Estados Unidos, México, Brasil y Europa. Tras competencias semanales, 16 de los jugadores top participarán en un evento presencial que se realizará el 12 de agosto en Burbank, California, donde competirán por $10,000 dólares en premios en efectivo.

Vanaf 8 juli gaat de For Honor® Hero Series van start op alle platformen in de Verenigde Staten en Europa. De For Honor Hero Series is een internationaal toernooi dat Ubisoft samen met ESL organiseert. Na de wekelijkse competities strijden 16 topspelers op 12 augustus live tegen elkaar in Burbank voor $10,000 aan prijzengeld.

De eerste For Honor Hero Series tracht de competitie in de game naar een hoger niveau te tillen door alle spelers op te roepen om mee te doen aan de 1v1 Dueltoernooien. Deze toernooien vinden elke week, gedurende 4 weken, plaats op alle platformen. Vanaf 8 juli verdienen geregistreerde spelers na elke wedstrijd punten op basis van hun rang. Topspelers van elk platform worden gekozen op basis van de gemiddelde toernooiuitslagen en mogen daarna tijdens het Live Finals-event in Burbank, Californië, vechten om de titel ‘platformkampioen’.

For Honor is ontwikkeld door Ubisoft Montreal, in samenwerking met andere Ubisoft studio’s*, en biedt een meeslepende verhaallijn en een intense multiplayer. Spelers treden in de voetsporen van drie machtige facties – de dappere Ridders, brute Vikingen en raadselachtige Samoerai – vechtend tot de dood op intense en realistische slagvelden. Not the sexiest of heroes, you say? A man who has made some questionable political choices? While that may be, due to my history, there is no way that I can let news of Ralph Nader’s Tort Law Museum opening pass without commemorating it here. 

As the daughter of a trial attorney who fought for plaintiff’s rights, Nader has always meant a lot to me. I know, I know, there were his ineffectual and divisive Presidential campaigns in 2000 and 2004, which led to the widely debated Nader effect. When George W Bush won the 2004 election, like others, I was pretty pissed at my childhood hero.  

Time has passed, and some of those wounds have healed (mostly). It certainly helps that Nader has gone back to doing what he does best: showing how important our legal system is in protecting consumers from corporate shortcuts and wrongdoing. That’s the goal of Nader’s ambitious new museum in Winstead, Connecticut. Here’s a good synopsis from John Culhane in Politico:

AMTL is meant, at least in part, to counter the narrative of the so-called “tort reformers.” Nader is puzzled and infuriated by their one-two punch, which has staggered the civil justice system by reducing the number of cases brought, and slashing the recovery of the plaintiffs who remain. Given the deterrent effect baked into tort law, these high barriers to litigation bleed off the incentive to make products, safety protocols and medical practice better.

Lest that sound dry, well, it’s not—great care was taken to make it eye-catching and interesting. From the same article:

Part of the reason for the museum’s success is the visual pop it achieves with outsized, dramatic illustrations of the cases. This dynamism isn’t surprising considering how Eisterhold Associates, the firm responsible for the National Civil Rights Museum and the Jurassic Park exhibit at Universal Studios, designed the AMTL.

It makes me leap for joy to see Nader try to set the record straight on the importance of giving the little guy his day in court against big corporations. After all, I am my father’s daughter—here’s a quote from his law firm Arthur, O’Neil, Mertz, Michel, & Brown: 

Rod's fundamental belief, which drove many of his accomplishments as a plaintiffs' attorney, was that it was a privilege and responsibility to stand up for those who could not stand up for themselves.

I love you Dad.

Thank you Ralph Nader, for continuing your decades-long fight against corporate greed that endangers peoples’ lives and safety. Thank you for opening a museum so that people can learn the truth about how moneyed interests have turned important consumer lawsuits—like the McDonald’s hot coffee case—into propaganda. Thank you for inspiring trial attorneys around the country, and for standing up for them. And thank you for giving spark and a sense of purpose to my Dad as he tackled his work each day.
