United Has Transfer Work To Do
This one’s for the the fans that think one manager or player was all this club needed.
“Manchester United and Liverpool are worlds apart, both in quality and in the Premier League table...United are known for spending huge amounts of money, but their inconsistent transfer policy has meant that their huge squad is overpaid and underperforming. Meanwhile, Liverpool have leapfrogged their rivals since Klopp arrived at Anfield, in part thanks to the club’s more careful transfer decisions.” - PlanetFootball.com, April 19, 2022
According to Anfield-Online.com, Jurgen Klopp’s purchased 43 players since arriving in October 2015 and sold 44, with a net spend over the last 6.5 years of  £132.95M / $163.06M. Planet Football’s numbers differ somewhat significantly, with a net spend of ₤115.7M / $141.95M. Manchester United, however, boasts what’s been a grossly ineffective net spend of ₤603.01 / $739.59M.
To get a clearer picture of United’s transfer business during the Klopp era, just have a look at Romelu Lukaku. Everton made a ₤31.2M / $38.17M profit from his move to United, Inter Milan made a ₤34.98M / $42.90M profit from his move to Chelsea. United suffered a ₤9.60M / $11.77M loss after underselling him by ₤0.9M / $1.1M to Inter; couldn’t even get that last million to hit his actual market value. Honestly, Woodward couldn’t have gone soon enough, won’t miss him at all.
And we all know they haven’t been great at moving players on, let alone moving them on for a profit. Lukaku was United’s biggest sale since Klopp arrived, the next four include Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£30.6M/$37.53M), Daniel James (£26.19M/$32.12M), Morgan Schneiderlin (£20.7million/$25.39M), and Memphis Depay (£14.4M/$17.66M). I’m not making this up, Daniel James has been one of their biggest sales in the last 6+ years and the only one of those players that brought in a profit for the club (less than 2 million in any currency). We also undersold Schneiderlin when he moved to Everton, suffering an avoidable loss. I’m sensing a trend here...
Ten Hag’s in, that’s fantastic. But this club is in dire need of changes to their staff and transfer policies if they’re ever going to catch City and Liverpool, let alone go toe-to-toe with the likes of Bayern and Madrid again. ⚽

Mkhitaryan...bestie, my namesake. Please please please, please don't be injured.
Fuck he is!
He looks so sad. God I'm going to cry. This is fucked up on so many levels. My heart is breaking.

Inter planning Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s contract extension until 2025. There was already a positive first meeting with his agent in the last weeks to discuss it. Inzaghi considers him a key-player and pushing to keep him. Micky is also happy at Inter and wants to stay.
