That moment when ………. during a pre-match warm-up, John could plainly see that something was definitely bothering Ruben …….. he was not his normal bossy boisterous self and was unusually quiet, refusing to make eye contact with him, even when he passed him his training tabard ……

Ruben was no different as they lined up with the opposition team just before the start of the match, still blanking John, and staring straight ahead ….. this behaviour continued through-out the first half and it was obvious to all that the 'dream team' were not communicating as they normally would .......... 

……. at half-time, knowing this couldn't continue into the second half, John turned sharply in front of Ruben and challenged his team-mate head on as to what was bugging him …….. Ruben's reaction completely floored John as he watched his mate's eyes brim with tears, hanging his head, biting his lip, unable to hold in the hurt any longer, murmuring his choked response as to just what had happened ………

……… that morning you had tearfully broken the news to him that after much soul-searching and because you truly felt you were a major distraction to his career, you were leaving him ......... you, the girl he was hopelessly in love with ......... leaving him the day before he was planning to propose to you ....... leaving him the day before Valentine's Day .......... and he was completely heartbroken ......... 💔
