Hi hibs! How are you?
So i have a question since you’ve been abroad before, there’s a job offer to work in the embassy of my country in the USA and i have been thinking of applying but I’m not sure so i thought of asking you. The us doesn’t seem to have the same “land of freedom/American dream/opportunity” reputation. from what i hear from it it sounds dangerous with high rates of crimes/ expensive living that keeps people in a fighting for survival mode/shitty health care/ racism etc. I know it’s not all bad, but it was enough to make me worry. Hopefully the money will not be an issue since i believe the job will cover lots of basic stuff and have good pay, but i’m still worried about the ‘living there’ matter.
So you’ve been abroad and been in the us, i would appreciate your opinion :)
I want to caveat this by saying i’ve spent my entire adult life in the US—so ten whole years, from college to now. I lived in the Netherlands for seven months in between for an internship but other than that, I’ve only lived and worked in the US since being an adult.
The US is HUGE. So much depends on where in the US you will end up. It also depends on neighborhoods. Every major city in the world is going to be at least a little “dangerous.” I literally grew up in Pakistan during the height of terrorism so my definition of dangerous is different. I think there is absolutely a gun culture problem, but every US state is like its own little country, so it won’t be the same everywhere. Most cities will always be more progressive than the surrounding areas. Racism is definitely real everywhere, but it can take different forms: some places it’s very in your face, other places it’s a little more subtle, EVERYWHERE it’s very structural. It’s built into the system.
Healthcare is incredibly expensive for sure but if you have insurance, you’re mostly fine. You want ideally to be in a place where public transportation exists—American car culture is one of the worst things ever!! How expensive life is depends on where you end up.
Tldr, it really depends on where you are! I loved the Northeast, even with its many problems, and I plan to move back to the east coast once I’m done with law school. Long term, I do plan to leave the US, but that’s partially because I don’t feel comfortable raising my kids here past a certain age, and because all my dream career prospects are elsewhere.
One thing I will say: by and large, Americans are VERY friendly people. They’re extremely kind and look out for you and you’ll find that your coworkers will be eager to help you out. That makes everything much easier.
This isn’t very well structured so I’m sorry, but I hope it helps!!!!!

What to do with 10 trillion dollars
I spent way too much time actually answering a reddit question of "How would you spend 10 trillion dollars if you needed to in 20 years. You will die after 20 years." So, I figured I'd share it here.
With only $10 trillion dollars you can't stabilize greenhouse gases or get rid of fossil fuels, which are 13t and 44t respectively. I'm using a variety of sources, so don't expect citations.
I did slightly overpay for things, strategically, partially because I can only imagine doing the things I would do would make it more expensive than it would otherwise be. You'll see.
I'm presuming I don't get assassinated.
What you can do (I did the math) figures are in Billions:
Personal (2.44/10000):
1.44 on remaking 8 games as mid-line AAA games (I chose Legend of Dragoon, FF8, Witcher 1, and the Legacy of Kain series).
.214 on 50 years of housing and buying yourself a $130,000,000 home in NYC. Includes taxes, maintenance, and furniture.
.15 on household staff for 50 years, with at double the normal pay
.000327 to put 3 kids through the best pre-k and best college in the country
.664 setting up each of those 3 kids with their own equivalent home and staff setup
Public Service (4303/10000):
Big one out of the way. 2500bn in lobbying/buying up American politicians to enact structural reforms I want to see. You would think this would be way too much, since the presidential election in 2020 only had 14.4 in it. This amounts to averaging 250 in spending every election cycle, even off-year. I counter with the global commercial banking market having a market cap of 2800 in 2023. The defense industry is almost 480. Health insurance in the US is 1600. This is an expensive, long-drawn fight. This is likely the single most important thing on the list. Anti-corruption measures, labor rights, pro-democracy reforms, including ultimately making it illegal for other people to buy more elections.
a cumulative total of 1803 spent on:
curing the most common cause of blindness worldwide
eradicating polio, rabies, elephantitis, malaria, world hunger, COVID19 issues, Water + Sanitation access, extreme poverty, homelessness in USA, Canada, and UK (I looked for China, Indonesia, Nigeria, Egypt, and Pakistan but couldn't find real numbers),
protecting the Amazon rainforest
Corporate Fixing (5692/10000):
Buying up and changing (converting to Co-Ops, converting to non-profits, dissolving, or something in line with those:
Meta
Amazon
Disney
JP Morgan Chase
Lockheed Martin
Delta
Alphabet
Asda
Tesco
Nike
The Weinstein Company
United Airlines
Shein
EA
BP
Bayer (side-note: they own/are Monsanto now)
De Beers
Vonovia Real Estate Developers
DLE
Ubisoft
Ikea
Shueisha
and Viz Media
It leaves me with 1.4bn left over. I'm comfortable with saying an additional billion would likely be used up administratively as things get a bit more expensive than I thought they would.
Honestly, I could likely blow it on close friends and family who need it. If you have an issue with the house spending being for 50 years instead of 30, that can just be shuffled around a bit to include more people in my personal life to meet the same number.
Leaving me with 470 million to spend elsewhere in the next 20 years. Expensive vacations, nice cars, donating to "smaller" issues as I see worthwhile, giving family and friends money for their ventures/dreams, etc. make me think it wouldn't actually be hard to lose track of that much money in those many years.
Hell, if I want to I can probably spend a million bucks on food a year just for my family. Probably more, if I actively try to do so.

Exploring the Low-Cost Surrogacy Cost in Mumbai
Finding affordable Surrogacy cost in Mumbai- Infertility is the biggest problem that couples are dealing with in their day-to-day lives. Generally, many couples cannot conceive a biological child through a natural process. In such cases, the couples look for either the ART (advanced reproductive technology) method, or most couples, who face severe infertility problems, compromise with adoption options throughout their lives. The baby or child they adopt is not genetically related. Such couples can look for the best surrogacy hospital in Mumbai. Surrogacy helps couples conceive a baby who is genetically related to them. Surrogacy helps carry forward their family`s blood. If the couples have faced previous ART cycle failures, they can look for surrogacy. Additionally, if the couples have faced earlier failed IVF cycles, pregnancies, or miscarriages, they can be assisted with surrogacy in Mumbai. The surrogacy cost in Mumbai is less than in other cities in India.
Mumbai offers advanced fertility treatments with a variety of facilities and procedures for couples struggling with severe infertility issues. Infertility causes sadness, uneasiness, mental illness, and mental disorders in couples facing infertility. The best surrogacy centre in Mumbai will offer IVF treatment to infertile couples at first. If IVF or other ART methods don`t help, then surrogacy treatment will be advised to the couples. The surrogacy hospital in Mumbai will give a ray of hope to infertile couples and help them achieve becoming parents successfully. In a surrogacy procedure, a surrogate mother in Mumbai will carry the child of the couple in her womb. The surrogate mother cost in Mumbai is less as compared to developed countries like the USA and the UK. World Fertility Services is the top-class surrogacy centre in Mumbai, offering the latest and most advanced equipment and technologies to their patients. Additionally, the donor`s sperm or egg will be suggested by the best surrogacy Mumbai fertility clinics. Finding the surrogacy Mumbai cost:
In India, only gestational surrogacy is legal. In gestational surrogacy, the surrogate mother will carry the baby of the intended parents for nine months inside her womb. The egg and sperm of the intended parents will be fertilized inside a laboratory and later implanted inside the surrogate mother`s uterus. The surrogate mother will not ask for any compensation, thus making this a selfless act. So what is the surrogacy cost in Mumbai? Well, before finding out the cost of surrogacy in Mumbai, one should know about the factors that can increase the surrogacy cost. Factors such as the cause of infertility in the intended parents, health issues, poor quality or quantity of gametes, surrogate mother cost in Mumbai, or unexplained infertility problems. The couple must provide medical insurance to the surrogate mother in Mumbai. This insurance will last for three years. In addition, the intended parents should give comfort and moral support, nourishment, routine tests, travel costs, and other accommodation expenses to the surrogate. The best surrogacy centre in Mumbai will provide all the necessary things for the surrogate mother. Still, with all these charges, the cost of surrogacy treatment in Mumbai is much less compared to developing countries like Pakistan and Thailand. The surrogacy hospital in Mumbai will provide the best surrogacy treatment between INR 15,00,000 and INR 25,00,000.
Major factors affecting the surrogacy cost in Mumbai:
The best surrogacy centre in Mumbai provides the best surrogacy treatment with a high conception rate. The best surrogacy hospital in Mumbai, such as World Fertility Services, helps couples with trained medical staff and skilled doctors. In a surrogacy, the couple and the surrogate need to sign a contract, which will be formed by a lawyer. The legal agreement will affect the surrogacy cost in Mumbai. A legal agreement helps manage the rights of the baby after delivery. The legal agreement will raise the surrogate mother's cost in Mumbai. A lawyer will guide the couple and the surrogate through all the necessary laws regarding the surrogacy cycle. Other factors, such as tests and examinations, will be used to check the health of the couple and the surrogate mother. Any genetic condition in the couple or the surrogate will be detected through these tests. These tests will raise the total budget of the surrogate mother in Mumbai.
Steps involved in surrogacy Mumbai:
There are a few steps involved in surrogacy. The surrogacy starts with ultrasounds and blood tests. The next step is giving counselling to the intended parents and the surrogate. Counselling helps couples calm down the stress and anxiety levels of all the parties involved. The best surrogacy centre in Mumbai will provide the best counsellor to help manage the mental state of the surrogate mother. These tests and counselling sessions will raise the surrogacy cost in Mumbai. The treatment starts when a hormonal injection is inserted into the uterus of the female partner. These injections will stimulate the ovaries of the female partner and help to produce a mature egg. The doctor will collect these mature eggs with the help of a catheter by inserting them into the uterus of the female partner.
The male partner will provide his semen. The best surrogacy hospital in Mumbai will provide the best doctor, who will select the best semen for fertilization. During the fertilization process, the ICSI method will be used. In the ICSI method, a single sperm will be injected into each egg. This will raise the chances of the surrogacy procedure. The doctor will then mix the egg and sperm of the intended parents on a petri dish inside a laboratory. After 3-4 days, the best embryos will be formed, which will be implanted into the uterus of the surrogate mother. A catheter will be used to implant these embryos. These embryos will be stuck to the lining of the uterus, and pregnancy symptoms will be detectable. A blood test and an ultrasound test will confirm a successful pregnancy. The surrogate mother in Mumbai will conceive the baby for the next nine months. The surrogacy centre in Mumbai will advise the intended parents to provide advanced care, a proper diet, and necessary accommodation to the surrogate mother during the pregnancy cycle. A caesarean or normal delivery method will be used to deliver a healthy biological baby. The surrogate mother will hand over the baby to the couple after the delivery, according to the agreement. A C-section delivery increases the surrogate mother's cost in Mumbai.
Conclusion-
Severely infertile couples can find a top-class surrogacy centre in Mumbai. The best surrogacy hospital in Mumbai will provide advanced methods, advanced care, several tests, and the best counselling sessions for the intended parents and the surrogate mother in Mumbai. An experienced lawyer will form a legal agreement that needs to be signed by all the parties involved for a smooth surrogacy process. The surrogacy cost in Mumbai depends on the clinic`s reputation, the clinic`s location, and the clinic`s success rate. The surrogate mother's cost in Mumbai depends on the medical insurance cost and other necessary accommodation charges. The cost of surrogacy is between INR 15,00,000 and INR 25,00,000 at the best surrogacy centre in Mumbai.

Tech rally leads markets higher, Oil rebounds
US stocks put in a strong performance on Thursday as hopes for early interest rate cuts got a boost from comments by a Federal Reserve official and economic data provided mixed signals.
The blue chip DJIA closed 0.5% higher at 37,468, but the broader S&P 500 rose 0.9%, to end at 4,780 and the tech-laden Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.4% to 15,055. Atlanta Federal Reserve President Raphael Bostic said on Thursday that he was open to reducing US interest rates sooner than he had anticipated if there is "convincing" evidence in coming months that inflation is falling faster than he expected.
Tumblr media
Bostic added, however, that the overall situation faced by the Fed "argues for caution." The day’s data could be read both ways. US initial jobless claims dropped 16,000 to a seasonally adjusted 187,000 for the week ended January 13, the lowest level since September 2022, pointing to robust jobs growth.
Tumblr media
But on the flip side, the Philly Fed manufacturing index remained in contraction territory in January, and US single-family homebuilding dropped by 8.6% in December after a string of strong gains.
Tech stocks led the gainers, with chipmakers benefiting from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) earnings news. The main chip supplier to Apple and Nvidia said it expects a return to solid growth this quarter. Nvidia shares rose 1.9%, while Microchip Technology adding over 4.5%. Apple shares gained nearly 6% after Bank of America upgraded the iPhone maker to 'buy' from 'neutral' and raised its price target.
Tumblr media
NAS100Roll H4
Also on the up, Boeing rose 4.5% after winning an order for 150 of its troubled 737 Max jets from India’s newest airline, Akasa Air. But among the fallers, Discover Financial Services lost 9.8% after the credit card lender reported a steep decline in fourth-quarter net income due in part to higher compliance-related expenses. And shares in Humana dropped 11% after the health insurer cut its earnings outlook because rising demand for medical services has pushed up its costs.

Oil prices rose Thursday as cold weather disrupted US oil production and worries over Middle East tensions heightened after Iranian missile strikes against Pakistan. UK Brent crude was up 1.3% to 78.01 a barrel, while US WTI was 2.0% higher at 74.02. Meanwhile, the International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts that growth in oil demand will halve this year, in contrast to OPEC’s forecast of flat demand growth in 2024.

Countries that provide dual citizenship with the UK
In the UK, having dual citizenship means having simultaneous citizenship in the United Kingdom and another nation. Those with family links abroad or those who wish to move freely between nations may find it advantageous.
Although having two citizenships has certain drawbacks (such paying taxes twice, having military responsibilities, or not being eligible for some government programmes), they are usually offset by the positives according to the top immigration lawyers in London. With a few notable exceptions, the UK permits dual citizenship with several other nations.
Advantages of Dual Citizenship
If you are not a British citizen and you want to relocate to the UK, you may wish to think about requesting dual citizenship. The following are some advantages of dual citizenship with the UK:
1. Staying in Both Nations
You are able to reside in two nations concurrently. This implies that you can still go to or remain in England for extended periods of time without losing your rights as an Englishman, even if your spouse or children have relocated abroad and you intend to retire there.
2. Right to Vote
You are eligible to vote in both nations' elections. Since it is lawful in the majority of nations with dual citizenship legislation, many people actually take advantage of this opportunity by casting two ballots during elections.
Keep in mind that several nations only permit voting in parliamentary elections—not municipal ones. You will not be eligible to vote in local or parliamentary elections if you have resided outside of the UK for more than 15 years.
3. Hassle-free Travel
You don't need a passport or a visa to travel freely across the UK. When travelling as a dual citizen, there should be no issues as long as you carry your British passport with you and consult one of the immigration lawyers in London.
4. Social Benefits
Possessing dual citizenship entitles you receive social advantages from both nations. This covers social security, health insurance, and other government-funded initiatives.
More About Dual Citizenship in the UK
Being a citizen of more than one nation, or holding two citizenships, is known as dual nationality.
This may be the result of your parents' different nationalities or the fact that you were born in one location and later relocated.
Additionally, there are other kinds of dual citizenship:
Dual Nationality by Birth
In the event that you were born in the United Kingdom or a British Overseas Territory, you must verify your eligibility and apply for citizenship.
Depending on where and when you were born, as well as the circumstances surrounding your parents, you may potentially qualify if you have a parent who has a British citizenry.
You could be able to register as a British citizen, for instance, if both of your parents are British citizens, or if one of them is and the other has the right to remain in the country indefinitely.
Dual Nationality through Naturalization
You might have to give up your original citizenship if you wish to seek for naturalization in another nation to obtain a second citizenship.

-our son's health and he says I need help and that's what it is and that's what it is too so we are trying to get it here
-the other things happening these idiots are willing to discuss just about anything. So put them on subjects that they don't like to make it real mad I'm going to do that from now on cuz such assholes and we mean it too
- I'm writing down each problem he has they keep on trying to increase it we are going to have to go after now it's suck real bad here at 90% and it does account for the islands they're leaving the islands too to get there
-new news since the above as we took a break the max have depleted their forces in the North no they said reinforcements and they are at the clones and they are at the warlock both and it is a massive war and it's not going to change anytime soon it's going okay here there's some glitches it's waking up with a sore back and thinks it's low potassium it's probably what it is you're going to try and get him some assistance with it and we're going to try and do that shortly other news is we have several people here who are out of line still and we need people in here to take care of it but there is a there's a lot of people getting North as we see it now the Middle East has an emptied out of morlock about 50% and the caucuses the same up to Russia and Northern Russia it is going to affect everyone in China and Asia have emptied to the north as well and Pakistan and India those areas are still full of morlock to about 60% of what they were yesterday and South America has emptied out from the Amazon South about 90% and they have probably 50% left in Brazil and the North and are heading out shortly they mostly come through Mexico we anticipate the numbers will be around 35% remaining this evening and they will take a sharp decline later on when they notice what's going on and we anticipate also by Wednesday Thursday the South America will be at 10% more lock of the general population if that.
-also we're anticipating by midweek that many of these people will not be here last night they had a disaster they were at 120 households and this morning they are at 80 households with regions the others are gone. This woman are doing some odd things funny things they have their hair balled up and other women are saying it's to pull your top of your head off and they keep doing it and it's really rude but that's what's happening here we do have some information about this place
-several people were evicted over the weekend and several more to be evicted shortly there are people in the neighborhood running businesses out of the house and it is illegal and they're not doing it with proper license and they don't have insurance and what they're using a dangerous chemicals across the street of course but down the road and they're using dangerous chemicals on purpose and it's really piddly s*** and they're attacking each other where they're a danger to the community and they're sending it out has code and they're being removed there are five evictions and they were regions and they are not allowed to come back to those houses Chrissy trying to go to others and they're watching them they are after John remillard and company with a vengeance he is a massive fool in the media and other they said they looked at all the articles and said they're jamming it to everyone and they're trying to get them out the neighbor Dave his days are numbered and everybody is saying it including the landlord at this time and they are trying to remove him he has probably less than 20 days left and he acts it and they're wondering why they're going through notes and they see that he's talking to himself quite a bit so they are actually monitoring him closely fairly soon they'll be changes in this town and they're going to be drastic and it is due to this massive massive war over the ships in the Northern hemisphere and it's due to the new stone and the situation on Saturn and now Mars just kicking it up a couple notches they think they can get there. We are cording off Mars and we are creating layers and we are creating systems of false flag and systems of having intermediaries intercept and we are beginning rigorous exercises to enforce it and real exercises not like fire they have real people trying to get out there and we're working now to establish much more effective system due to the presence of Hera our empress
-and we have several other things happening and some of them are somewhat humorous he's doing some of what these people do as an act as a king and they're getting a kick out of it. But there are other things happening but we're going to publish
