What is love, though? People all have different definitions and meanings for love. What do you think is love?. To me, after looking at all of the definitions and meanings we humans have for love. I think and feel that we can't really say that this is love and this is not love. Love is different for everyone, like how life is different for everyone. I guess I can say that love is like life.

there's a podcast that i really like called off book and on one episode, a character says "if you say you love someone and they say 'i love you too' there's no way for you to know anything beyond your own human experience of what you perceive love to be, and there's a bit of magic in the leap of faith that is trusting that you understand the word closely enough to the same thing"

and i think about that a lot, especially as i get older and meet and talk to so many new people from different places that have lead different lives than me. especially as i write all these fics about love, with mcs and love interests who express their love in different ways. golden fruit had a very different concept of love in it than strawberry sunday does, for example.

so while i don't necessarily have one specific definition of love myself, i do believe in the bit of ordinary magic of having to take that leap of faith that when we say it to each other, we understand the word—and each other—well enough.
