How a Clock Mimic eats:
I call them "soul stealers" (Clock mimics), but I actually think they are mostly after the prey's cells or stored energy. Hence, life "energy". You could be all typical and whimsical and say "oh they steal souls or whatever lol", but it's more scientific then that.
They literally REACH into your body to steal all of your sources of energy. Every cell in your body makes energy and it draws its nourishment from that. When I say "sucks you dry", I mean that in a partial literal sense.
The biggest reason why the prey of a clock mimic will lay on the ground and look all confused, is mostly because the clock mimic drains out all of their cells that produce energy. This could be components of your blood, your stored fat and carbs, as well as anything else they can literally DRAIN out of you. Your nutrients becomes THEIR nutrients. In a way, it's similar to the drill mimics, but in a much more prestigious way with much more damage.
Most of their prey actually die from lack of blood PRESSURE then actual blood loss, as well as becoming comatose because their brain has had all of the energy rich cells/fats/carbs ripped STRAIGHT out of them, causing a lethal dip in the homeostasis that keeps your body in equilibrium. You can also tell if a creature is a victim of a clock mimic if they bleed a grayish WHITE "blood" or their eyes are entirely gray. Yes. The clock mimics can even take pigmentation from their prey. Irises, pupils, hair, hemoglobin, ect. This is what causes the "rapid aging" effect when they drain a victim.
THAT is what makes them terrifying and VERY dangerous. As well as having a VERY slow metabolism, clock mimics can compact the energy they take into their own body, usually in the chest or "head" compartment. It's argued that these versions of mimic don't even have a stomach, which is why they drain vitality from other external sources to get the nutrients they need to power their own organic parts. That also makes their heads, unfortunately, pretty valuable as energy containers or long term batteries. As the body of the clock mimic contains that energy so effectively, it can power devices for months, or years if it's a large mimic, even LONG after the clock mimic has died. Because their body can no longer ingest the material they consumed, it simply sits as a compacted energy inside of their head or chest, waiting to naturally burn out with decomposition or…be put to use by lucky scavengers. In a way, Clock Mimics can be considered "parasitic feeders", since they rely on other organisms to survive. However, "friendly" Clock Mimics can leave prey alive by managing how they drain. So instead of draining them entirely and causing lethal damage, they have a more gentle approach and will steadily drain the host in a careful manner to avoid causing serious damage. When the prey begins to feel the effects too much, the mimic will retract. Alliance scientists have dubbed the lethal feeding as "Parasitic" and the more friendly and polite version of feeding as "Vampiric". One kills the prey and the other merely feeds on them just enough to satisfy. -- This has been a log from the resident human. Logger: Resident Human Subject: Feeding Mimic: Clock Mimic (Comrade)

Decided to draw a few scenes from my fanfic. So far, the writing is going well! Sadly, I can't post the chapters here to Tumblr because of that stupid block limit. >: (

A strange phenomenon tends to happen to every 1 in 200 campups. Some "bleppies" will be born with little pads on the bottom of their feet and hands!
They will be soft and fleshy in texture and feel, but color will vary. This seems to be a mistake in the babies' early development, as once they reach adolescent stage, the toe beans "retract" back into the body and give them their typical "shoe and glove" appearances.
But, like their tails, they can reemerge when stimulated in a way that brings them back up to the surface of their bodies. Even adult mimics can be witnessed having their youthful parts reappear, from tails to these soft pads on their extremities.
They also add a cuteness factor to the little ones!

A content dump of a continuation of this. "Camron" is learning how to take care of the little one until he can get them safely back to headquarters, meanwhile the child is having some very interesting interactions with the alliance. They love the dancing and the movements of "DJ" and the speakermen and "Stevee" is a great baby sitter with a stockpile of age appropriate material to keep the child entertained. It takes an army to raise a child, after all.
(The baby got a new set of clothes once they came into the care of the alliance. Inspired from this pic here.)

can you draw a mimic version of titan cameraman?
Tumblr media
Bestowed upon the Titan of Cameramen, a gift of burning power from the ancient one. A trickle of energy ignites the fire within the titan's core and a new form bursts forth in a dazzling shower of embers and heat! Cyan lights and dangerous bellows rise from the three heads now adorned upon the shoulders of the titan, flames as icy blue as permafrost and as hot as the brightest dying star in the furthest reach of the universe. An eternal flame grows from inside, temporal and everlasting, unable to be put out by no amount of water nor despair. Heavy footfalls echo over the battlefield and a large rumbling roar shakes the skies above from the titan that was once as silent as a peon. The adversaries see the rise of the new blue dawn as the large shadow of the reborn titan emerges from the wall of flames. Lens burning just as bright with a hunger for justice. The titan of eternal flame has awoken. --
I was feeling inspired today! Enjoy! ; )

Here are some anatomy pages for a bestiary I have been working on for you guys! Behold! The mimic Bestiary!
Tumblr media
The first chapter deals with Camera Mimics and how their bones are shaped. We can see that the vertebrae have stretchable fibers located in the neck and discs. Allowing for them to lunge at their prey from a distance with their necks. Their jaws are connected via a hinge with a special muscle located inside of the hole and it can open around 90-120 degrees depending on mimic size, giving them a LARGE mouth! Inside of this mouth are serrated teeth that slice flesh from their prey and they even have serrated claws as well! Camera mimic skulls also have a "cycloptic" appearance, since all of their visual organs are shoved inside there to mimic a Cameraman unit.
Tumblr media
Next up is the Speaker mimic! Speaker mimics actually have a pair of separated jaws that move inside their skull through the opening in the front, which are curved backward to allow the mimic to tear off large chunks of flesh.
There are no places for eyes in the Speaker mimic skull, but there is plenty of room for a brain, muscles, jaws, and even hearing canals! The frills on the side of the head can also have a various type of bone structures, from "root", "fragment", and "finger" bones that allow for movement. The hands and claws of the speaker mimics also extend greatly when in wing mode and the wing flesh seems to be a modified epidermis that has taken the role of both clothes and a wing membrane.
(Tv mimics are a work in process atm lol)
Tumblr media
Finally, we have a universal system that all mimics share. A digestive system! Unlike normal organic beings that have an entrance and an...extended "exit", mimics don't actually have intestines! They have several unique guts that allow them to hunt their prey and significantly reduce getting ill from anything they eat. They have an entry chamber organ that softens the food items, this usually includes bone, teeth, hair, and other hard bits--like metal. Then the nutrients are moved to the breakdown gut, which amplifies the breakdown process. Creating a mush that is then delivered to the actual stomach. From here, the food can be digested normally, or placed into the storage gut for long term keepsake. This organ is usually used in preparations for a long migration or for a nomadic lifestyle. Meanwhile, the "pseudo-kidney" and powerful liver removes the toxins from whatever they have eaten and it is repurposed into energy or carbohydrates, sometimes even into certain aspects like venomous saliva, so nothing goes to waste. This means that a mimic wastes nothing and can eat LOTS of items, organics, or inedible stuff. As well as store food for long trips internally. Since their bodies absorb everything, they have no intestinal tract nor extensive lower organs that humans have.
This concludes your mimic anatomy lesson 101! : )
