Introduction

Allahabad is officially known as Prayagraj also known as Allahabad.

This city has a special place in Hinduism. Along with religion, this city has contributed a lot to the freedom of the country.       

 It is the meeting place of three rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati known as Triveni Sangam.

Allahabad is one of the most historical cities in  Uttar Pradesh state.

Triveni Sangam is an Allahabad famous place. The world's largest gathering fair Mahakumbh is organized in this Sangam area.

Crores of devotees come from abroad to take a dip of faith in this fair.

Ardh Kumbh is organized here every 6 years and Maha Kumbh Mela is organized every 12 years.

 Magh Mela is organized every year in the month of January in the Sangam region.

Therefore, Allahabad is called by the names Sangam city, Kumbhanagari, and Tambunagari.

It is one of the four sites of the largest Hindu convention, Mahakumbh, three as follows - Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik.

According to the 2011 census, the population of Allahabad is 1,342,229, it is the 32nd place according to population in India.

Allahabad (Prayagraj) district is the most populous district of Uttar Pradesh according to the 2013 census.

The places to see in Allahabad are as follows - Triveni Sangam, Khusrobagh, Anand Bhawan, Allahabad museum, Allahabad fort, Minto park, Chandrasekhar Ajaad park.

Bhardwaj Park, Company Garden, and Fun Gaon Waterpark are the most fun places to visit for couples.

History of Allahabad

In ancient times the city was known as Prayag.

On the completion of the work of creation, the god Brahma Ji, the creator of the universe, performed the first Yajna here.

Some parts of Prayag and present-day Kaushambi district have been important areas here. 

This region has been a part of the Maurya and Gupta Empires from the east and part of the Kushan Empire from the west. 

Later it came into the kingdom of Kannauj.

 Allahabad came under the Mughals after the Mughal Empire invaded India in 1526.

 Akbar had built a huge fort here at the Ghat of the Sangam. Maratha invasions also took place in the city. After that, it came under the control of the British.

In 1575 AD, the Mughal emperor Akbar named this city Illahbas, which later came to be known as Allahabad.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, was a resident of Allahabad.

Triveni Sangam

Triveni Sangam is the meeting place of Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.
