May 9th, Happy Birthday Chef Ham!

Chef Ham appears in only one episode, and then the finale, but even with that, he is loved by many fans. He is a white hamster, like Bijou, but sports a tiny pink circle on his nose, which is round like Bo's or the Djungarian's. He wears a chef hat with a C and a sunflower patch, and carries around a chopping table with a strap similar to the one the Ham-Hams use to carry Snoozer around in later episodes.

Chef Ham offers us a lot of information about his life, in spite of the fact that he only appears in a single episode: he is, obviously, a talented chef that has traveled around the world. He was born in Italy, and has 10 kids, to whom he is nervous about showing his skills in fear they might dislike his cooking. He lives outside of town, but not too far since the girls have picked up and dropped off his kids at the clubhouse on the same day, and he learnt to cook from his mother. His wife, the kid's mother, is never shown and we don't know who she is.

He is, probably, one of the oldest Ham-Hams we see in the series, by the fact that he is married and have children, and that Hamtaro refers to him as “a grown up”.

His Japanese name is Kokku-san, which translates literally as “Mr Cook”. I think we all can see why. The reason behind the date on Chef Ham's bday is unclear. It might be a pun with “Kokku” and “Goku”. “Go” is 5 and “Ku” is 9; so maybe that is why. It’s also possible that “Goku” is also an onomatopoeic of the sound of swallowing, which is what you obviously do with food. 

Relationships

Chef Ham is married to an unknown hamster with whom he has had 10 children. Naturally, he has no shown any other kind of affect towards any other cast member, but we don't know anything at all about his wife.

Episode 95 - Dance, Chef Ham!

Chef Ham's only episode. He is a talented chef that has traveled the world obtaining new skills, and wants to throw a feast for his kids. But he is afraid his children won't like his food. Will the Ham-Hams help him reassure all will be good?

We want to wish Chef Ham a happy birthday and we hope his children give him many gifts!
