Will Graham is a southern boy and a dedicated handkerchief user, which drives Hannibal up the fucking walls. Will tries to keep it in his pocket most of the time, but even then Hannibal can smell it.

"I will never know why you insist on using this thing." Hannibal, picking it up with the very tips of his fingers off the floor.

"Says the guy that has handkerchiefs to match every suit." Will, who didn't realize it fell out of his pants.

"Those are for aesthetic purposes and they are washed every evening. This," Hannibal is holding the handkerchief away from him like it might bite, "thing, on the other hand has its own ecosystem."

"It does not have its own ecosystem," Will air quotes, "I throw it in with my laundry once a week."

He takes it from Hannibal, whose hand is now trembling, eyes glued to it in horror, as Will blows his nose in it and folds it back up.

I watched American Psycho for the first time yesterday (ik.) and the amount of times I said "this is so Hannibal-coded" should warrant a luxury all-expenses lifetime visit to a psychiatric facility, so I shall be unloading my AU idea inspired by the setting:

Hannibal, office worker of high status obsessed with work and an avid participant in workplace social politics.

Will, the latest in a long line of Hannibal's secretaries (that he drove to quitting, or worse) who doesn't beat around bushes, keeps exclusively to himself and does what is needed of him, not more, not less.

Hannibal is obsessed.
