speaking of threesomes i'm perpetually fascinated by the script cuts to Hannibal 3x01 - the original sequence of plot events was something like "Dimmond smells a rat, confronts Bedelia about it on one of her little shopping trips, she confirms and asks him for help escaping her dangerous 'husband', he turns around and rats her betrayal out to Hannibal and suggests getting rid of her and becoming partners in crime, Hannibal stages the little scene at the apartment to play them off against each other"

which makes a lot of things about the episode make more sense, both in terms of cause-and-effect plot mechanics and in terms of character motivations, so i assume they cut it for logistical reasons related to the location shoot in Florence rather than pure preference for the Vibes-Based Logic of the final cut

and i think the thing i love MOST about the original plan is how crystal-clear it is that Dimmond thinks he's stumbled into the plot of The Talented Mr. Ripley about three-quarters of the way through, but has also either completely forgotten the ending or has the stones to think a few displays of charming amorality will change it

the thing i love the second-most is that it makes the whole end of the episode into "Hannibal is unimpressed by Bedelia's willingness to sell him out to get off the ride and happy to guilt-trip her about the results, but mostly he's INCANDESCENTLY FUCKING FURIOUS when his new not!Will boytoy proposes a spot of cold-blooded betrayal for fun and profit, and he may have overreacted a smidge and that may have been what flipped the switch from the between-seasons Rebound Era to season 3a's Post-Breakup Meltdown"

About ur preferred character thing: I like Hannibal better as a character because we get a lot more from him, and I see it as ‘easy’ to prefer Will because he is our viewpoint character for the majority of the show and it’s easy to feel seen and reflected by him. It makes Hannibal more intriguing and I feel like we explore him on more levels (backstory, places/characters that formed/were formed by him, etc) and we primarily explore Will on a moral, emotional and psychological standpoint, which we also get from Hannibal. Speaking of viewpoints too, it makes 3x01 so much more exciting to be completely without Will. Hope this makes sense :) it’s hard to compress my thoughts/analysis like this

don’t worry you explained yourself well! i definitely understand where you’re coming from- as i’ve said before i think hannibal is more intriguing at first since we don’t know much about him, at least in the first season. his motivations and drives are still a big question mark, which i think greatly influences our interest in knowing him.

will, being the main character, is much more explored, but i don’t really feel like it’s right for me to say that we understand him fully. he himself is confused about who he truly is, about which parts of himself are actually his and not just a reflection of people around him.

hannibal is the complete opposite i feel (at least at first), he knows who he is and where he stands in comparison to others (above, obviously) so it’s incredibly engaging to see him actually change, something he’s probably never done since his childhood, because of the influence will has on him.

got a new face casting for james i've recently been into but idk if you watched the tvshow Hannibal but in episode 3x01 there is a character named anthony dimmond who i didnt really take notice of but upon re-watch he totally Daddy and now he my new headcanon for James. hehe
