lore dump on the love of my life myra?? pretty please??
Okay first off, this is the sweetest thing ever thank you ;-; Thank you for this ask! Love to start the weekend off this way.
Tumblr media
So originally, Myranda Greyjoy was a House of the Dragon OC that was going to end up with Aemond (Aemond flies to the Iron Islands instead of Storm's End AU). I made a gifset and everything which I'm ridiculously proud of... but the story just wasn't happening. I didn't know the plot, I had this wonderful character but it was just... not working.
Then I remembered this boy existed:
Tumblr media
And all suddenly started to click into place.
Myranda Greyjoy is the youngest daughter of Victarion Greyjoy and his wife, Briony Marbrand, a salt wife captured during a festival along the coast when she was a teenager. She has three older siblings: Helya, a Reaver of great and terrifying repute, and her twin siblings, Dalton and Gwenys. Gwenys became a priestess of the Drowned God (The Driftwood Bride) for a lot of reasons, mainly to... escape the abuse of Dalton.
Myranda is a quiet child, probably the least 'Iron Islander' of her siblings. She has no desire to reave, would keep to the shadows, quiet as a mouse so as not to be noticed. Her elder cousin, Asha, is amazing in her eyes, but she is the closest with her mother, Briony. Briony taught her to read and write, and while her other children fall into the culture of their home, Briony hooks the last bit of goodness and innocence she has into Myranda. So when word comes that Robb Stark has declared himself King in the North, and that Theon is on his way to treat with them, Briony cracks open a plan:
“You’re going to marry Robb Stark.” Myra’s chilled fingers gripped the pot in her hand tighter, the hairs on the back of her neck prickling. The only sound in her mother’s room was the wind whistling through the cracks, the sound of the gulls and the waves on the other side of the lead paned window. Briony Marbrand had pushed the blanket that draped over the rough hewn chest, mermaids carved into the driftwood. A gift from her father. “Why?” was all Myra could manage, watching her mother dig through the fabric. “Because marrying him gives power. Power you will never find here. They won’t let you find it. They’re not made for it.” Her mother’s hands paused. “It’ll get you away from your brother.” Ice trickled down her spine and Myra could not help the flinch, the curl of sick in her gut. “If Asha wants the Seastone chair, she’ll need help. Helya will go with you.” “Hel will never forgive you.” Her mother shrugged and pulled a red wood box from the depths of the fabrics. “I will not mourn that on my death bed, and neither will she.”
It's a gambit, but Myra, if quiet, is clever too and she knows and understands what is at stake. Her people are on a crash course for another annihilation. Asha with her shadowed eyes and the complete loss of her family has always clung to her.
And Drowned God Help Her, she's never seen so much green, and Robb gave her flower for their wedding. She loves flowers.
Basically, Myranda Greyjoy is Westerosi Mary Lennox and The Saddest Girl Next to Sansa Stark and she's a budding blossom that I'm looking very much forward into diving into. I've put her tracked tag in this post so you can take a look!
Thank you, truly and wholeheartedly, for this ask! It means the world to me!

What do you think was the relationship between Aegor and Mya&Gwenys Rivers? (well, before he gouged their brother’s eye out)
This answer is going to be disappointing, but: I think Mya and Gwenys both died in childhood, which is why they're only mentioned once and never again when they should've been considered "Great Bastards" (Shiera is considered one and she's also female and grew up at court, without a faction growing up around her). It's certainly less of a stretch than assuming they grew up educated by the Feminist(TM) Da3ron II who arranged highborn matches for them, had children, and died without Bl00draven himself or the realm at large mentioning them. I think they're there to prove just how much Aegon was infatuated with Melissa (siring 3 children in ~5 years, which hadn't happened since he'd "wed" Megette), to show Melissa's humility in giving them Riverlander names to contrast with Barba's "immodesty" naming Aegor (*eyeroll*), and perhaps even as Chekhov's guns like Harlon and Robin Greyjoy were for Euron (not saying Bl00draven killed them, but maybe their deaths in his early childhood were related to the incident that awakened his third eye.) So I think they died before Aegor could form any relationship with them. What do you think, xen?

I have to ask about the AU suggested in the last chapter of LSD: Balon agrees to the alliance and raids the Westerlands but Robb has to marry Gwen. How very much of a dumpster fire would it be?
I don’t think Robb and Gwen would be super compatible lol. Not just because she clearly has no interest in being a traditional lady consort but also because of the simmering cultural animosity and insecurity, and their general personalities clashing. Robb is very much not her type. I doubt she is his, either. And I think her and Catelyn would butt heads pretty badly.

They have a very sweet dynamic!

What of your OCs are you most proud of? Your characters are always so vivid and human! Thanks to you I’m now an unapologetic Needles stan
I’m assuming you meant Nettles, lol.
The original ASOIAF characters I have most enjoyed writing have been Lyra Hayford, Gwenys Greyjoy, Septa Tomyris, Leona Storm, Danelle Flint, and of course Donella Bolton.

three edgy ironborn teens who make a big show out of refusing to pray during drowned god revival service, but still get in line for the potluck afterwards. typical.

Balon doesn't hate her? I fear to think how he would treat her if he did
Balon is not a good person or a good parent/brother but he let Rodrik Harlaw, who genuinely has come to love Gwen as his own daughter, raise her, and he has never kept Asha from seeing her. So I think it is more complex than just Balon being a spiteful asshole all the time.

Even though it's not a grand romance I'm glad that Gwenys was able to have some control over her sex life and that Gran treats her decently. And considering the triplets are identical it's not the worst choice she could make as far illicit affairs go...
Yeah I mean as far as choices made by impulsive teenagers go it's not particularly atrocious

Part of me wonders if the thing between Greydon and Raya will make Gwenys a widow earlier than expected (i don't really expect Greydon to live past the Iron Born invasion north, tbh). Other part wants the typical telenovela love triangle, but thats cringey to even think about ,so I really hope there's drama (and some death) when it gets exposed.
I don’t want to spoil anything but Gwen will certainly not be staying on Great Wyk as Greydon’s miserable wife for the rest of the fic, but I obviously can’t reveal how that comes about. I will say that Gwen and Greydon are never a romantic pairing in the fic lol so she’s never jealous of Raya and him.

Gwen obviously hates her match, and hates how she had to get married at 14, but if it was postponed till she was about 16 or 17, would she have been... more open to it? I mean, I doubt she'd still like it, and rightfully so, but it seems like a lot of Gwen's dislike for the match also comes from how young she is.
I think she'd still very much dislike it but her behavior might be a bit more measured and mature. I don't think a 16/17 year old Gwen would be hurling a vase of flowers at Greydon's head or screaming insults and curses, though her rage and frustration is very much justified.

Before Aeron's diehard conversion to the Drowned God, what drew him to be so close to Gwen? Was it because he wasn't really close to his other brothers?
I dunno, sometimes these relationships just develop. Nothing about toddler Gwen was especially unique or exciting. She was just a loud little kid and Aeron was reluctantly won over by her attitude and spirit.
