It's finally done. This is a companion piece to: Where we started
Thank you Theorist Team for putting in so much hard work. I can't wait to see the new people in the spotlight! I already love Ash and Santi and their chaotic selves haha.
Also I'm thinking of starting a side blog where I reblog other's art, there's just a lot of posts I want to reblog but I don't want to "lose" my art on this page if that makes sense?
i commented that as a joke on the video but seriously im emotional abt this. ive been watchin them since the channel was like 2 or 3 yrs old. i saw the start of film, food, and style theory. i was there theorizing about what the new channel would be!! ive watched theories abt games and shows ive never even heard of. ive seen the st jude livestreams. this channel was my 'sunday' morning cartoon. im glad the channels are going to people we know from the staff but i also have to admit it wont be the same. i think everyone knows that. im super emotional abt this
most iconic moment of GTLive Help Wanted 2 Gameplay, 10/10
matpat seems to have enjoyment through Princess Quest IV
Artist note: Was planning to do a Dawko's B'day art, but I just can't resist draw this iconic moment of Steelwool finally made MatPat swears after games like Stanley Parable and Sara is Missing
This time I wanted to honor MatPat, the old timer youtube legend who retired this month! Not that he needs much introductions. This one took me 3 days of almost nonstop drawing, but I do like the end result so it was worth it! Hopefully you do too!
Something I find really funny about the whole Watcher debacle, is that they definitely had opportunities to keep their communities trust even if they still did this whole move.
Literally watching MatPat slowly step back to do whatever he wants in a communicative way over a 10 week period was perfect. He is still showing up on things other than GTLive to talk about how important it is to have trust between your audience and you and that if you break that trust it's next to impossible to build it back.
Look at other companies like Theorist and Good Mythical Morning who have managed to take on full staffs of people but remain in that free media space of YouTube just by keeping their audiences trust and growing outside of YouTube but not abandoning the people that are actually there for just them. Merch, Patreon, you know- extra content. They grow out from the roots instead of Watchers tactic of uprooting themselves in an attempt to replant.
I wonder how they are reacting to all of the backlash they are receiving for this horrible idea. They got an audience in the first place because of Shane and Ryan talking about ghosts with a black screen and some text. Absolutely no one looks at Watcher and asks for better quality. In fact I preferred their ghost hunting stuff BEFORE they had better quality. Now it just seems like they goof off for 40 minutes, even Ryan isn't taking it seriously in most episodes and he's supposed to be the believer. I digress.
Good luck to the ghoul boys in their attempt at streaming. I will not be following. I will miss Puppet History though.
