Im maid in Phantomhive mansion. I think Im the only one who knows Sebastian's and Lord Ciel's secret. One day they even let me go with them on mission. We were walking down the hall when red hair women stopped our way.

"SEBASTIAN MY LOVEEE!!!" she said.

I could say that Sebastian and young Lord Ciel didn't like her. She was all over Sebastian when she noticed me.

"And who are youu?? What is your purpose here?" She asked.

"Wow... You look absolutely amazing my dear" I said with stars in my eyes.

She looked at me a little bit shocked. Well Ciel and Sebastian also looked at me with shocking eyes.

"What?" Grell asked.

"Your hair.... It's beautiful is it real?? And your eyes they are just beautiful. AND BABY YOU ARE WEARING A SUIT IN THIS TIME!!!" I said.

She looked at me still shocking but than she just hugged me.

"THANK YOU MY LOVE!!!!" She said while hugging me.

"I need you to dress me up some time. You have a style babe" I said

"Sebastian why didn't you tell me about this beautiful woman, ah I was jealous at first. I thought you and Sebastian are something" She confessed.

"WHAT NE AND SEBASTIAN?! EW NOOO! No offense Sebastian but Im not into devils" I said

He just smiled.

"Yeah let's get back to you... Im sorry what is your name again?" I aksed

"Grell" she said.

"(name)-channn!!!!!" Red haired woman called me.

I turned around to saw her standing there gorgeous as always.

"Ah aren't you beautiful today??" I asked.

"Just todayy???" She said

"No you are always beautiful my favourite Lady"

She hugged me and we went inside of the mansion.

speed walking down the halls, wiping away tears you struggled to hold back, it seemed like everyone was staring, but quite frankly you didn’t care.

the further you went down the halls, the emptier it got, less and less reapers to be seen.

as you saw the door of grell’s office come closer, your feet started to walk faster, making you kind of crashing into the door, trying to get it open.

the click you then heard was almost heavenly, and soon you found yourself in the doorway of her office.

grell snapped her head towards you, making a little startled sound, but as soon as she saw your red puffy eyes, the way your jaw clenched and your hands at your sides, she let everything in her hands fall to the ground and hurried over to you.

it was amazing how she could do that on such high heels.

“oh honey, what’s wrong?” her voice worried.

not being able to hold it any longer, you lunged forward, crashing into her arms, as tears flooded from your eyes again.

“there there.” she cooed.

her hand rubbing your back seemed to calm you down quite a bit, your breathing starting to get slower and slower, easing into her arms.

you sat like that for awhile, quietly studying the office, and the way grell held you.

the way her hands rubbed your back, and her long red hair fell into your face slightly.

the light was crawling in from the long windows at the side of her couch, her desk was a little messy, but you could still see some of the wood.

there was a slight breeze coming through the window, as the building had been there for awhile, but you didnt mind.

“you wanna tell me what’s bothering you?” she whispered softly.

you sighed. “everything.”

“everything? - she chuckled - that’s quite alot dear.”

you nodded slightly, but kept quiet, enjoying the affection you so badly needed. your eyes felt heavy, and a headache was starting to form itself.

tired, you let your whole weight fall into her (EVERY.WEIGHT.IS.OKAY!!!!!!!) arms. she smiled, pulling you closer.

chuckling, she lifted you into her arms, slowly walking to her couch. she slouched down on her back, you laying atop of her.

and slowly you felt yourself relax.

“it’s just - you paused, not knowing if you should tell what got you to this state - everything had been so well and, i finally felt a little better about myself, i was so happy being with you, and and-“ a sob choked your words.

“and lately, there are all these people, who judge me for who i am, and are mean for no reason i can find, even ones close to me.”

grell listened carefully.

she hummed. “oh dear, anything else you want to get off your chest?” a soft smile on her lips.

sighing, you rambled on. “i feel like i havent been me, haven’t been enjoying life, and like i haven’t given you a good time.”

“ooh, no no, don’t think that.” she said in a little panicky voice. grell layed her hand on your head, stroking it softly.

“you have been wonderful, and i know that you try, i’m thankful to have you, really.”

you popped your head up in surprise, your wide eyes looking up at her.

she laughed. “yes dear, i mean it.”

“and its awful how these people have treated you, truly awful.” her gaze turned nasty

“so, tell me, who were those people? - she grinned - let’s make a list shall we~?”

I have a second modern AU where Grell still goes rouge but ends up an actress who always gets cast as the tragically suffering girl because she plays it so well, in movies akin to Lolita, the virgin suicides, valley of the dolls, the crush etc. dispatch can’t do anything about it because she’s so famous people will notice if she went missing and risk revealing the existence of reapers. One day she shows up to set to meet the director and it’s Sebastian, who is in a contract with a big name producer to make bank off movies because we all know Hollywood people absolutely sell their souls for fame. So they have to pretend they don’t have this past together from the 1800s and over the course of several movies together they end up in this “is the director dating the lead actress here?” Kind of relationship. They’re always subtly flirting on set and when they’re alone they reminisce about their time in the 1800s. No one ever finds out that the director is a demon and the lead actress is a rouge grim reaper.

The duo end up known for amazing films about tragic girls, whenever you see their names on a movie poster you know it’ll be banger. And the whole world totally thinks they’re dating but can’t quite figure out why they seem to know each other so well so quickly not knowing of their past.

It's embarrassing to remember that when I first entered the Black Butler fandom, my 13 year old brain couldn't handle the fact that Grell was trans, like, she hasn't had surgery??? Trans people can't exist without surgeries?!? I love Grell, and she can't be trans because that's weird and icky!???

Turns out it was internalized transphobia. Who would have guessed?

(Also, I love Grell, and she is the MTF trans icon we all need. My only issue is that the Black Butler fandom and the show were severely transphobic at the time, but I'm glad to see everyone being super kind and supportive!)

your vision blury, thoughts in another place entirely, you only softly heard the voices around you.

you didnt pay them any mind, and just kept blankly staring forward.

you started to feel sort of numb, with an undertone of sadness. your mind was so full, but so empty all at once.

at first you were mainly angry, or more or less frustrated. with yourself, with that stupid prick, with her.

no, you shouldn’t be mad at her. though, it was hard to do so, as you felt like your feelings were denied. she only saw him, only him.

while it angered you, you couldn’t deny that he was indeed handsome. graceful in all he did, surely a sight to see.

but as well as you knew he was charming, you also knew his dark side. always lying, betraying, anything to get his way. anything for that stuck up young boy.

and still she was so enchanted by him. always expressing her admiration for him, making it fairly clear she was longing for him.

and yet her feeling were never returned, but she still chased him. you didn’t get any of it. why grell? why him? you’d do anything for her. it really did not matter what.

you realized it was hypocritical of you to say, almost copying grell in her behavior.

but you couldn’t help it really, it started of as a crush, but your feelings slowly grew into a love for her of some sort.

grell was beautiful, confident, a sweetheart, and her flirty demeanor did not help your case either.

she had charmed you, to put it simply.

you hadn’t even realized that in the mean time you had walked all the way back to the reaper’s headquarters. you decided you’d go straight to your room, not in the mood for a chat.

pushing open your door, you heard a familiar voice call out to you.

her beautiful voice.

her beautiful voice, that called out your name.

for a second you considered coming to a stop, feet nailed to the ground.

but you already knew what this was going to be about. about him. you didn’t wanna hear another word about him, he had been haunting your mind almost as much as grell.

you just couldn’t understand what she saw in him.

so, at last, you stepped inside and shut the door. you immediately dropped to the floor. the crying you had to contain all coming out now.

your tears kept on coming, nevertheless of how hard you tried to stop them.

you couldn’t help yourself, now the thoughts about how great sebastian was came flooding in, and how grell was so obsessed with him.

he was much more skilled, way more charming, and definitely way more experienced than you.

slowly, your body curled itself into a ball, hiding away from the world for now.

and that is how you spend the rest of the week as well. curled up, hiding from the world. sometimes you would get up to nourish yourself, but more than that you did not do.

it stayed like this for some time, and you did not mind it. it was not an ideal situation, but it was becoming somewhat comfortable.

somewhere in the back of your mind, the thought of grell and sebastian never left your mind, but whenever that situation occurred, you simply tried to get yourself back to sleep.

though sometimes it was harder to put them aside.

sometimes they kept running through your head, time and time again.

what would grell be doing right now? would she be with sebastian?

you knew if it were up to her she most likely was. but she had a job to do as well. and even though their paths crossed oftentimes, you know grell took her job very seriously.

you were startled by a sudden frantic knocking on your door. thinking it must be one of the heads of the reapers, you grunted and rolled over, pulling your soft blanket further over your head.

they did not give up though, another set of knocks being made.

all of a sudden there was a loud bang, and the sound of the door slamming against the wall.

a draft of air made it’s way into the room, giving you a slight chill.

as footsteps were heard, you slowly lowered your blanket to see what was going on. grell was bend over you, worried look on her face.

upon getting that little peek of your face, a few tears swelled up to her eyes.

“my dear, why are you hiding?” it was almost like a whisper, her voice breaking as well.

some sort of guilt started to form in your stomach, making a frown appear on your features.

grell tried to pry the blanket off of your figure, and you did not show any sign of resistance.

when she finally had it all peeled off, her arms caught you in a hug.

at first you did not react, being in a sort of shocked state, but after some time you gently put your arms around her in return.

such a change in your pattern of self loathing, which felt heavenly. to be hold by someone so dearly. to be hold by her.

you noticed how a ray of sunshine entered your room, lightning her face perfectly. she was such a sight to see. you could not think of a single thing that was not beautiful about her.

grell started rubbing small circles on your back, which is when you let yourself completely melt in her arms. head on her shoulder, arms along your side, focusing on what was happening at the moment.

the feeling was perhaps the nicest you had ever felt. the rut you had been in seemed to slowly flow out of your body.

grell’s voice pulled you out of your thoughts “now, tell me love, what is making you act this way?���

a blush decorated your cheeks. love? did she really say that?

“love?” your voice was hoarse, hardly to be heard, but grell answered anyway.

“yes! - her tone like this was well known to you - love, because you are so dear to me!”

well, that was a surprise, and not what you had been loathing about for this long.

“but-” before you could say anything else, grell interrupted you. “oh my, is this because of me?”

“well, sort of, but more because of sebastian.” you admitted, at which she let out a soft chuckle.

taking a deep breath, grell explained to you that even though she was indeed always gushing about sebastian, and expressing feelings of romance for him, he would never be as dear to her than you were.

that even though she seemed so obsessed with him, that was merely a small crush, that was never going to be as how in love she was with you.

it took a few moments to realize the situation that was happening. and when it finally sunk in, tears started dwelling in your eyes.

you nuzzled your head into grell’s shoulder, which is when your emotions got the best of you and you broke down crying. out of happiness, sadness, stress. all of it.

and grell held you the whole time.

“i will be there for you, always.” grell cooed while rubbing your head softly.

“thank you grell.”

whoooooo damn im sorry this took so long, the last few weeks have been a whole rollercoaster :,) anyways, really tried on this one! trying to improve my writing <3 i hope you liked it @starris-newaddiction !! thank you for readingg~
