hi! ur thoughts on gregor/yi sang?

I LOVE GREGOR YI SANG!!!! (gregsang?) I think I mentioned it before but the milk scene from hell's chicken rewrote my brain and I want to see more of yi sang, gregor, and heathcliff all hanging out now!

I don't feel like I know enough about Yi Sang (ch 4 is soon though AAAAAAAA excitement!) but i like some ideas around them? Yi Sang spent probably a lot of his life in a lab doing research so he is one of the only people on the bus. That makes his relationship to Gregor and how he grew up in a lab very interesting for me to think about!!

Going to keep things under read more for leviathan and limbus spoilers!

I think there's some fun potential crunch between Yi Sang being a researcher and Gregor's experience with researchers being a traumatic presence in his childhood! There's also lighter tones the pairing could take on - they have that good potential range!! (Like most pairings do, given how dire the setting is lol) I'll talk about crunchy ideas first, then sillier ones after!

Everyone knows 'oh Gregor grew up in a lab, some bad shit happened there' but no one Knows what it is like in a formal lab setting like Yi Sang might?

We see Yi sang is smiling and happy in the preview - but like we have Seen what happens to many well meaning researchers or inventors through L-Corp. It is very hard to try and develop anything and test it in the city without it causing harm to others! When that happened and how much Yi Sang might have known about it is up in the air but at some point to test the reflection mirror tech Someone had to try it out. And it probably didn't end well given what happens to all the kids in leviathan. We know from Leviathan their tech was being built based off of what Yi Sang's team developed!

All that to say there's potentially some discomfort on Gregor's end of things he'd need to deal with! The present Yi Sang in limbus doesn't talk about his research or anything related to his past at all. Gregor might not Know that he used to be in a lab research team! At some point it will come up and depending on how Gregor handles it the relationship could get some very crunchy tones for fanfiction there!

Not to say that wouldn't work out between them! But that Yi Sang might have the closest understanding of what Gregor went through outside of Gregor potentially telling someone else about the details. And that could be pretty helpful in a relationship if Gregor didn't have to explain a lot of trauma to someone else - that's hard!

We also don't know how the group split up that Yi Sang used to work for! We know that he used to be a little less sleep deprived and smiled at some point there from the preview. The narration makes me assume he was happy working there at some point! So how did it all fall apart? Yi Sang might also have some issues to navigate on his end with Gregor setting off reminders unintentionally. They are crunchy on both ends like this.

It's one of those things I could see being a tension point if Yi Sang suddenly uses some vocabulary of that time and Gregor has to suddenly realize his silly spoiled milk drinking buddy did the same thing as what those awful people did to him and his sister. Maybe talking about it brings up some betrayal that happened on Yi Sang's end. Maybe they both hate how the city corrupts research and science and tramples on people to make progress? That gets a high potential for some real emo fanfiction to explore everything and I eat that shit up!!

On a lighter note - Yi Sang is a silly guy and he's great! I think most of the sinners seem comfortable around each other by the time Hells Chicken and Dante's Notes scene 2 roll around! We know he seems accepting of most people and overall pretty chill.

Gregor seems exasperated sometimes in the intro dealing with all the tension on the bus. Tension is always going to be present! It's a tense world! I think it's nice there could be someone for Gregor to hang out with who is pretty low stress most of the time!

I think Yi Sang was one of the people who acted once or twice supportively or protectively over Sinclair in ch3 and I am always a fan of someone in a relationship trying to stick up for Gregor! He's had a rough time :,)

on the flip side i feel like Gregor would watch out for Yi Sang and enjoy hanging out with him. I just want both of them to be normal silly guys having a good time laughing and eating dinner together. And now we know they canonically do!! hell yea hell yea!!

I personally like the hyper positive outlook on the pairing where Yi Sang's lab experience is not something directly upsetting to Gregor but is something that ends up being an interest point between them - and as they talk through it they get closer together and trust each other on a deeper level. They could have both a light an fun relationship most of the time while having the deeper more meaningful understanding and desire to care for each other!

They could be silly! They could fall asleep together - Yi Sang could wake up early and make the Worst Breakfast that is basically poisonous. Gregor could cook for him and he would happily eat probably anything. When Gregor is too down Yi Sang can make silly jokes and lighten the mood. When Yi Sang is spacing out too hard Gregor can ground him and help him feel more involved.

There's a lot of fluffy ideas I like coming up with between them! They're fun to think about!

Ultimately - they're both good and I want them both to be happy!

i just wanted to say re: gregsang. i haven’t really seen this explored anywhere but i personally really enjoy the idea of yi sang and specifically g corp gregor friendship/relationship. i think in my mind it started just because yi sangs fascination with his mirror self’s wings, i think he would think greg’s are cool despite the circumstances then i realized they actually have a bit in common. being traumatized into states of detachment (g corp greg’s uptie 3 cutscene specifically mentions this), both have had something they were proud of tarnished and used to hurt people (Severely misguided in g corp greg’s case but That’s propaganda for you). Guys who have had the light leave their eyes should sit and have quiet time together. i think yi sang would not be grossed out by the bug features at all…. Just something to consider…

also also going 🤝🤝🤝 (handshake emoji) with you in regards to being disappointed greg’s arm is not actually that roach-like even though that’s the bug he’s being associated with by the writers. i really like cockroaches. AND with “i think they’re not done with exploring rodyas backstory” and actually analyzing her behavior esp her guilt and behaviors I Fucking Love Rodya

oh the g corp gregsang angle is so interesting.. yi sang can be a little shallow about appearances if he so desires. he would like to touch a wing if allowed. i dont know how g corp greg would react to being admired in a aesthetical sense than physical. yi sang isnt interested in his bug talons because they tear flesh well, but because they make a clacking noise not unlike a hollow bamboo stalk. or some other uniquely strange observation that drives him. and drives gregor away a bit, its a little overwhelming for the little guy

theyre both very troubled fellas who would find great company in eachother i hope.. in relation to another person theyre usually the recessive personality to be overpowered, so it is interesting to see how they would manage with only themselves. yi sang is moreso compliant rather than gregor who is suppressed.

would gregor be excited to be the driving force of their relationship? or is it dampened because well.. yi sang isnt very hard to sway. is yi sang drawn to gregors gruff and uncoordinated, gregorisms? or is he making this old codger something more poetic for himself?

gregsang is a nice little puzzle in that sense for they dont have an obvious reason why they work like other gregor or yi sang pairings. but thats just me getting philosophical over pixels kissing. thanks for the musings.

initial impression: incomprehensible. god have mercy on your soul. his design made me mad i was like how dare they make a guy this boring but yet i knew this fellow was deeply strange in a way close to the soul

current impression: my muse and my dear friend yi sang. in another universe i picked apples with him in my papas orchard. he is just pixels yet i am just dust. the wiki calls him 'peculiar with no malign intent' and i think that is a beautiful way to put it. he cares so much it made him sick. his language is quite literally flowery and filled with puns involving his own name. when hes announcer he calls the sinners his companions. he doesnt like blood. he asked if rodya was alright after sonya left. he moaned that one time in hells chicken. faust respects his wishes to not be called genius and uses it as a way to praise herself in the same breath. his gut bacteria is extraordinary. please be gentle with yourself as you are with others yi sang, i got you some vitamins for your shaky hands. be safe.

favorite moment: in canto 2 when theyre looking for someone to dance yi sang declines by saying My inner voice expresses fear. which is yi sang for: soy timido

story idea: in a radical act of loving himself yi sang learns to become an amateur foodie with world class vacuums heathcliff and rodya. he gets a tummyache 4 bites into a burger, but he promises to be brave about it. the other two promise to try the spicy noodles he likes and they cry so hard they throw up

favorite relationships: THIS GUY has a lot of love in him. hes very ideal to me, but not many of the sinners will put up with this sickly mans comment about how your skin cells look in bloom with sebum today. i mentioned gregsang in another post cuz i think theyre both darling little dudes. fausang is my bread and butter not really in a romantic sense but theyre definitely symbiotic. when they have beef its at a level you cant comprehend (because its in complete silence), and when theyre attempting physical touch its so stupid and childish you cant believe it. theyre yuri and yaoi when you need them to be. faust definitely doesnt like how perceptive he is and that he doesnt mean anything mean with it. hes so disarming to her she wants to both share her bag of snacks or bite and claw at him a bit. yi sang is yi sang about this, fausts faustitudes are unchangable like weather to him. he can admire the rain.

favorite headcanon: yi sang don and sinclair are the trio of all time. i know people call them car tower trio cuz that one cg but theyre the bird trio to me (don is a parakeet). theyre also board game freaks

first impression: THE fuckin guy. this dude owns. (insert 50 invasive questions about cockroach anatomy and behavior) i was peeved his roach arm resembled more of a beetle horn than a arm

current impression: when chef greg dropped i got so horny i went to bed lightheaded i still love gregor dearly but my love for him has mellowed like the fondness for a favorite pasta dish.

favorite moment: literally every old fart moment he has. when he forgets names when he berated sinclair for not cleaning his plate when he goes uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh in his dialogue because he doesnt know where hes going with this

story idea: despite his deep frying and boiling during hells chicken i think the bus kinda Likes this guy. gregors a bit of a hot commodity. hes just a fella you can Jive with. a real Stand Up guy. now let him be loved, if obliviously through his own self consciousness. a friendly heathcliff rough slap on the back delays his depressive episode by 15 minutes

fav relationship: oh boy where to start!!!! rodigor. enough on that. meurgreg, not really romantic to me but i like the art of it that is. it revolves around a big fella carrying him under his arm so automatic slay. ive seen a little gregcliff action on the TL but its more of a 'work got me friends with people twice my age like whats uncle greg up to' ordeal to me. now lets get insane. gregsang is incredible to me because yi sang is the only mf on that bus EASIER than gregor. gregor got game? that hes aware of? while stuttering the whole journey? its kind of crazy. i dont actually have a reason why they would even like eachother yet but put rodya in there somewhere to toy with them if you want true crackshipping fun

fav headcanon: hes a little chunky

RODYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my favit

first impression: me furiously searching for her height on the wiki + nodding my head sagely deciding woman with sleepy eyes is peak character design (faust included). i trust her wholeheartedly even if she leads me hand in hand into a woodchipper

current impression: waiting for projmoon to drop more lore on her desperately because i know canto 2 wasnt everything. i feel a disconnect with the fanbase about her because i see rodya characterized sooooo differently than how i think of her. the gambling thing and her effortless confidence for example isnt really questioned like how it is with dons bravado. i see her gambling as an outlet for her complicated views on money. she feels as though being financially 'secure' as the lone survivor as a betrayal to all the deaths she caused. gambling not only aligns with her current im the hottest shit attitude but also is a way for her to not be responsible for money. the hoarding of wealth is what caused her community to starve, why would she want to do something that seems to harm others? shes very self destructive, and feigning as slots star is just one of the ways she forces herself to 'stay in the cold'. ummmmmmmmm anyway im really normal about rodya and think about her a normal amount also her love for decadant food really resonates with me as someone who was poor in childhood because the difference between eating to live and living to eat is Astronomical

favorite moment: shes started branching out and calling other people than greg pet names and it is so exciting. faust has now reached babe status!! good for her!!! also when she infantalizes sinclair its terrible for him but REALLY funny for me when he responds back and reminds her oh right this is a 22 year old man. also her random interjections that are socialist ideology are really funny because they always feel so fucking random and like projmoon is remembering why crime and punishment was written and going drop this bomb ass line itll go so hard guys

story idea: i want her to play poker against yi sang because hes weird and also his poker face is like. genuine and dear adoration for being able to play with his companions because deep in his soul is gardens and butterflies. she would be so freaked out not only because this guy agreed to playing poker but also because he is invasively (he didnt mean it) staring into her SOUL to find solutions

fav relationship: my thoughts are half the bus are in love with gregor and the other half with rodya with cases of overlap. rodya is so epic because shes seemingly got it together to the more deranged sinners but to anyone else its like oh my god this paper mache bitch the former being more faustish the latter being more ryoshuish. faustya is cute because faust initially wanted to absorb more Bad Bitch Strategems and then kinda got a crush and is hardcore malfunctioning also kurokumo ryodion got sumn GOING yall crazy love is love though

fav headcanon: shes actually really short for Lobotomy Corp Backstreets Russia and everyone there is just freakishly tall (see: sonya)
