seriously though nothing can stop me from interpreting Real Life as canon just for how it progresses the canary curse situation. i'm obsessed with it. the curse gets broken in secret life and then in the very next "series", as much of a joke as it is, you get a situation like THAT. jimmy enters a mineshaft and everyone but him dies. not just his team, though obviously it's more significant because they were all red, but ren/martyn/skizz all get a mineshaft-death apiece. that canary's not doing his job anymore. he escaped his cage and made a break for the surface and everyone else is paying the price for it, and i for one could not be more proud of that little bird.

#that's not to say however that real life is on the same level of seriousity as all the other life games #the watchers grabbed all these players from the aftermath of the wildest party anyone's ever seen #the only ones not hungover were the ones drinking until dawn (now sleep deprived and plastered) #no one's going to have more than the vaguest memories of what the hell happened there #none of them sure if that was an actual Game or if some genius thought it would be a great idea to play-act one. while drunk. #the watchers know though. the watchers think it was funny. #wotcher talk #solidaritygaming #life series #life series smp #life smp #trafficblr #life series spoilers #real life #real life smp #rlsmp

anyways at the new years party i was at last night I found out that another guest is a full-time van traveller (does contract work so this is logical) and was parked outside, and, crucially, had a 19 week old black kitten in there

dear readers, i got into that van so fast. None of the stranger danger lessons stuck at all.

Sid the Kitten was a delight, and when I finally went back in the house and crashed on one of the couches, I was woken up at sunrise by my other friend's golden retriever, Zuko, who is remarkably polite but needs attention at all times.

And overall I'm counting it as a good omen for the coming year. May it be full of unexpected puppies and kittens.

#galarian slowpoke #picture this. this was the first pokémon revealed from the new DLCs for pokémon sword and shield. the pokémon company #up until this point‚ has never done DLC for a pokémon game before. you‚ having been jaded by shitty DLCs for other games in the past #now have a distaste for the phrase‚ and imagine this can't be good. then‚ in their teaser for the new DLC‚ they add a little event #into the game where they reveal one of the new pokémon that is going to be added in the DLC #and it is a galarian form. that is identical to the original pokémon. but with a yellow head #are you imagining it. now how fucking disappointed are you. how little faith do you have in that DLC that it's going to be as good as it wa #for the most part‚ the pokémon company has demonstrated that they do absolutely excellent DLCs. proper expansions #basically an entire other game on top of the game you already have. and they typically take up the release cycle of a full game #scarlet/violet's especially. WONDERFUL dlc. i never really properly finished the crown tundra just because i was so late to the party #because i avoided buying the dlc for so long because of this experience that i've just described to you #that by the time i bought it and played it‚ it was just because SV had been announced and i wanted more pokémon to tide me over #and i never finished it. one of these days‚ i'd like to go back and finish it‚ but i'm playing through pokémon xd gale of darkness right no #and i prefer to play. one game at a time. and i don't know when i'll ever really get back to it #or if i'll ever get back to it! Does Yura tend to play video games?? We have seen a PC at his house (like that one doodle where he played with Anya) but does he use to play games by himself? If so, what types of games?

He does! Yura's got very standard slav taste, so stuff like CS:GO and Dota are right up his alley. He usually plays those with Ivan and Arthur, which makes Anya really fucking mad because not only is he hogging the PC, he's also being stupid loud (in her humble opinion).

He's just as basic when it comes to single player: he religiously replays San Andreas (yes, using that meme Russian machine translation) and fucks around in modded Skyrim.

In other words, devastatingly normie.

related ramble: genuinely if the part of decked out that appeals to you is "incremental progress in which the players must learn the map bit by little bit and also understand when to turn around and bail to learn more of the map later in another run", you don't mind games that are hard, and you like rpgs. please play etrian odyssey. please they're such good games and no one ever talks about them. please,

#they're largely ds and 3ds games HOWEVER the first 3 were remastered for switch! making them EVEN MORE ACCESSIBLE! #i will warn you the games are slightly notoriously punishing but the recent remasters DO add difficulty settings #which means you can avoid some of the more notoriously punishing aspects #AND THE ART STYLE IS SO GOOD. AND THE /MUSIC/ #the aesthetics of etrian odyssey are some of my favorite video game aesthetics they're so NICE #so i am now using my 10k followers to try to convince One Other Person to play my pet rpg series. #my one warning is that if you play rpgs for the story. etrian odyssey expects you to make up a lot of the characters in your head #and tells you the bare bones of a story in second person #which isn't to say that's BAD; it's really good i get attached to my party of five ocs really fast #it's just if you're used to jrpgs you WILL go in and go 'wehre. is the plot.' #its there! the games just expect you to make up much of it! and it's great! #my point is: if you're going 'huh i might like dungeon crawlers' CHECK THEM OUT

imo karlach’s soul coin usage seems like it should have been a little more significant than it was.

she only ever really stops to consider the magnitude of burning through a person’s soul for power during an origin playthrough—otherwise she rationalizes to the player that they’re doomed anyway, and if using them gives her an edge in combat, why not use them for good instead of leaving them to be used by evil? the dialogue with lann tarv in act 2, where he tells the story of each soul he's handing over to her, tries to humanize each soul coin, and still she doesn’t really budge and disapproves pretty heavily if she's told no in regards to using them.

it just seems like something that could have caused some kind of conflict between her and wyll, given he sold his soul to a devil in dire circumstances and takes issue with the player for sleeping with mizora, because she 1) is mizora, and 2) similarly expends tormented souls during her romance scene, even if for a different purpose. but it just... never really comes up?

i love karlach. but that seems like it should have gone Somewhere, from a writing standpoint? karlach values wyll as a person but is willing to use currency forged from souls like his for the sake of a temporary power up. she knows the soul is consumed when she uses them. that whole exchange with lann tarv is there to emphasize that every soul coin she destroys was a person once. but it all kind of loses narrative purpose if this combination of factors doesn't mean anything? karlach doesn't change at all in her willingness to use soul coins, no matter what the player says or how much she cares for wyll.

idk. missed opportunity that wyll doesn't have any dialogue about this, of all things.

#destroying souls is otherwise unambiguously portrayed as A Pretty Bad Thing To Do in bg3. so it just seems weird to go #yeah using this destroys a soul but it makes me stronger and it feels GREAT! #and stick to that no matter what without really questioning it much #ethel's vicious mockery line about her selling every soul but her own just doesn't hit right if it flat out doesn't. matter at all. #plus. idk. something something soul coins apparently are difficult for non-evil characters to even have in their possession #so using them and fully destroying the souls within seems kind of. idk. significant from a character standpoint #disclaimer: not character hate obvi. i love karlach and her relationship with wyll is very good. #but idk. conflict is interesting! and that seems like somewhere it should have happened if you have both in the party #karlach sans wyll might never question using soul coins but karlach with wyll probably should have? #in the same way wyll's character changes somewhat whether he chooses to kill karlach or spare her #as it stands this is like how using the tadpoles makes a grand total of one roll in the game harder. there's no bite. no consequence. idk #not every character has to change to be good but idk. idk! #it all seems set up to make her reconsider at SOME point #and that she just doesn’t is in itself a pretty significant moral compromise on her part #that is just not. recognized or discussed basically ever #karlach #karlach cliffgate #bg3 #baldur’s gate 3
