As 2023 begins to say goodbye why not say hello to Swynlake with one of these fantastic characters? Chart your own path with magic or without in in this magical English town!
Basil Rathbone (Basil, The Great Mouse Detective) - Everyone has a motive...even you. What are you doing, showing up in Swynlake all of a sudden?
Tod Sionnach (Tod, Fox and The Hound) - You blame yourself. She probably wouldn’t want you to, but you do. Sometimes you miss the person you were before, who had friends, who was part of town life, but do you deserve it anymore? Can you convince yourself that you do?
Ariel Triton (Ariel, The Little Mermaid) - Be careful, Ariel. Don’t do this, Ariel. Act like this, Ariel. You get it! You know the rules already! Will you ever get a chance to just live without your father and sisters’ watchful eyes?
Arawn Prydain (The Horned King, The Black Cauldron) -  You think to yourself, I have become death God; no, better than God. Perhaps more benevolent than God. You outsmart Death and cheat it for fun.
Georgette Midler (Georgette, Oliver and Company) - What happens when a spoiled Manhattan princess grows up? She becomes you! And what happened when her reputation is tarnished? Hell breaks loose is what happens, ugh! Can you make your comeback from Swynlake?
Sergio Gull (Scuttle, The Little Mermaid) - Lost trinkets washed up on shore, wanderlust, and childlike wonder. What stories live in the items in your shop?

Open Starter!
Nose buried in the most recent edition of the mystery novel Basil had been picking up from the local bookstore, the tawny mouse could hardly pay attention to anything and anyone around him. Only his faithful partner, Dawson, was managing to keep him from bulldozing any person by staying in his peripheral vision and staying immediately behind him. Which was not too much of  a challenge for the detective, but it made the shorter mouse far more concerned than it should.
Tumblr media
“Basil, please, you can wait until we get home to read! You’re going to trip or worse!” He protested, stopping in the middle of the street to grab the spine of the book and pull it down so that the other would be forced to stop reading.
Tumblr media
“Afraid I can’t do that, Doctor. It’s been ages since I’ve held a novel that I could not immediately deduce the end to after the first book.” They responded without tearing their eyes from the page, quickly sliding it from Dawson’s grasp and lifting it back up. “Now, you shouldn’t interrupt me-”
Tumblr media
“B-Basil!” Ah, too late. Someone has collided with the detective from behind, making the tawny mouse stumble forward and barely stop himself from knocking Dawson over like a bowling pin.
Tumblr media
“Watch where you’re going!” He snapped for a moment, spinning around to address them. “You could have made me lose my place!” ... Dawson was behind him shaking his head, offering the person a soft sympathetic look to whoever the perpetrator was that had gotten Basil in a tizzy.

OLIVIA FLAVERSHAM is twenty-two years old. She is a Criminology Major. She is the humanized version of Olivia Flaversham from the Disney film, The Great Mouse Detective.
+ Astute, Brave, Sweet - Rumbustious, Naive, Pedantic
ABOUT OLIVIA
The Flavershams aren’t exactly known for staying put. For starters, one night, Olivia’s mother, Hazel, went out for a walk and disappeared mysteriously when her daughter was only three. This experience deeply scarred her and her father, Hiram, who became obsessed with Olivia’s safety and knowing where she was at all times; and when her father went missing as well, during a birthday trip to London, Olivia found herself completely alone in an unfamiliar city. Determined to not let history repeat itself, she convinced private detective Basil Baker to investigate her father’s disappearance. He succeeded in finding her father, but the kidnapper managed to escape, and is still on the loose.
The Flavershams, afraid of the kidnapper attempting to harm them again, moved to Wellington, New Zealand, where Hazel’s family lived, and resided there for a while, before moving back to Hiram’s beloved Edinburgh for Olivia to finish high school. Once she turned eighteen, her father decided to relocate to Redwood Hollow, a supposedly safer town to live in, for Olivia to study Criminology at the Redwood college, after a recommendation from David Dawson, a friend of Basil Baker, with whom the Flavershams kept in touch.
Now, living in quaint little Redwood Hollow, Olivia is thankful for the peace and quiet she and her father are able to enjoy. But now that strange poisonings and mysterious thefts have shook the town, despite being deeply afraid of Hiram being next up in the list, she is secretly excited to be potentially able to catch a criminal of her own and prove herself.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION*
After moving around so much during her childhood, Olivia constantly shifts between an American, a New Zealand and a Scottish accent. This makes it slightly difficult to understand her, especially when she becomes excited and starts talking too fast.
Besides her interest in Criminology, her career of choice, she also has a knack for basic engineering, and loves tinkering with small devices, being pretty handy at fixing all sorts of things. This is the result of years of helping her father around with making little clockwork toys, which he sells as souvenirs from Redwood Hollow.
Olivia is deeply fascinated by true crime, despite her apparent innocence. She has a serious morbid streak, and sometimes forgets that most people don’t really want to hear the details of some grisly unsolved murder from the seventies.
CONNECTIONS
Basil Baker - Met Basil as a young child when he helped find her missing father. He inspired her to pursue criminology, so she could help others the way he helped her. David Q. Dawson - Helped find her missing father. David suggested that she apply for the course at Redwood College. Penny Pomeroy - A friend she met in her first year at Redwood College, after they shared a class together.
Olivia is currently unavailable. Her faceclaim is Thomasin McKenzie.

David Dawson
Dawson • 54 • Human • Visitor • Mark Ruffalo
Dawson has always been a kind person, intent on helping those around him. That's why he ended up becoming a combat medic. After his tour of duty, he wasn't exactly sure where he was going to end up. Perhaps he would have ended up working at a hospital. Lucky for him, though, he never had to find out. That was when he met Basil Baker. Basil was a curious soul; someone who dragged him along on all of his adventures without a second thought and Dawson appreciated it, even when things very quickly escalated. For awhile, they fell into a perfect little routine, but that quickly changed the day little miss Olivia Flaversham showed up at their front door. She was alone; lost and desperate for the well known detective to help her find her missing father. Basil was going to send her onto Scotland Yard until he realized that Rodric Harrigan was involved in the kidnapping. Then he was rarring to go, dragging Dawson and Olivia along for the ride. Dawson was a sweet fatherly presence and instantly took Olivia under his wing while he and Basil investigated Prentiss. He is aware that something is off about the situation, but he can't quite put his finger on what it is. He just knows that everything is not what it seems. He certainly can't convince Basil of that, however, so he simply stays by his side. What else can he do?
David is: strong, intelligent, fatherly, curious, hardworking, polite
Basil Baker: His boss and dearest friend, he is also an intense individual that never seems to take a break. Olivia Flaversham: A dear young lady who Dawson finds himself treating as he would a child of his own. Doug Peterson: Another young person around Prentiss, Dawson is taken with just how loving and empathetic he appears to be.
David Dawson is AVALIABLE

for the end of year ask: 4&5!
End of year asks: RPC Edition! [accepting!]
4) Have you learned any new skills through your rp blog this year?
Does learning about how to AI art count? Had some fun with that - made some Priscilla 'dageurotypes' here and this Boldini-esque portrait of her in The Baroness story!
I have some more I haven't posted yet - mostly from v: the baroness, I'll get around to it soon XD
5) Have you read/watched/played anything new thanks to the rpc this year?
As a matter of fact yes! Shoutout to @reverdies - little did anyone know I wasn't familiar with the Jeremy Brett version of Sherlock Holmes! (shocking, I know) A while back I read some of the abridged books, saw the RDJ films, a little bit of the Cumberbatch tv series, the great mouse detective, and the film Without A Clue (hilarious & a great cast imho)... but Jeremy Brett is a gem of a Sherlock portrayal I only recently discovered all thanks to looking up their face-claim!
There's also a video game called The Pale Beyond saw it on the tumblr dash (tho not from the rpc). It's right up my alley with lost polar nautical expeditions adventures lol, look forward to playing the demo.
