Healthcare is so very confusing!

Earlier this year I visited the doctors, over the last few months I've been receiving my insurance statements and doctor bills and I am grateful but so very confused! I need to do more research because the item called "non-allowed amount" can't mean what I think it means!

Today I received my most surprising statement... Doc charged:$2000 non-allowed amount: $1878 Insurance paid: $98 I owe $24

Will my doctor drop me??? If he only got $122. for this service I will be sad for him (but still super happy for me) I am torn!

All the money that goes to the insurance company from me and my job... What in the world?! Also I am really glad that I only have to pay $25 for a $2000 service.

Also this takes me back a few years when I paid for insurance out of pocket, it makes me think of all the people out there who are doing this right now, I think of the guy who robbed the bank for $1 so he could go to prison for health care, I think of all the idiots who want to repeal the healthcare law.

Disclaimer: I still need to research what "non-allowed amount" means... I could be so wrong on this...
