* ( &. 002. | beatrice grew up like a normal child, there was no pressure on her to become something great until she was up into high school. she lived life as just another child until then. she had a great set of friends, she had barbie dolls galore, she had everything a child could have wanted. but when she began to get into middle school, people began to look at beatrice weird. no one ever spoke of it until she was finally starting her freshman year. when she started high school, there was this pressure put on her to get straight a’s as the daughter of a harvard graduate, and the daughter of a surgeon.
* ( &. 003. | the pressure was never put on her by her parents until pressure was being put on them. it’s safe to say that the parks were very weak-willed. as more pressure was put on her parents to push their daughter, that just put more pressure on poor little fourteen year old bea. but she allowed the pressure to get to her. so, she started ignoring her friends until they were completely cut off from her. school work became beas number one priority.
* ( &. 004. | not much happened in beatrices four years of high school besides her getting closer with some… particularly bad influences. when senior year came around, that was when everything really started happening. beatrice got a packet in the mail stating that she was accepted with a FULL RIDE to stanford university for phsyics. her parents, and the rest of the their friends were so proud of bea for finally doing what they had all wanted her to do.
* ( &. 005. | but what they didn’t know was that beatrice wasn’t interested in pursuing physics, in fact.. she wasn’t even interested in going to college. to her, college seemed like a waste of time. she didn’t want to grow up to be like her parents, living with them, she saw first hand what their lifestyle had done to them, and how unhappy it made them. she didn’t want to lead a life like that.
* ( &. 006. | the night of graduation, beatrice let it slip to her parents that she didn’t want to go to college for physics, or.. at all. which caused all hell to break out in the park household that night. things were thrown, bonds were broken, hurt was given out. beatrice will never forget the look on her fathers face when he told her that she was a disgrace to the park family name, and that as far as he was concerned, beatrice wasn’t his daughter anymore.

hmm ok , so joey is far from a tragic story .. she’s full of life & love ! she was born in england actually , to a loving mother & father.. & she wasn’t the only one – she has five brothers which she lovs but also equally h8s
her mother was the only person she kind of connected to growin’ up but tht didn’t stop her from attemptin’ to hang out w/ her brothers / do activities w/ her father ! as much as she was a girl, nobody culd guess tht she culd do a lot of things tht were meant for ‘men’ from a glance ! & equally enjoyed things tht were boys were only supposed to like !

❀ tamsin was such a weird kid .. really obsessed with being original and quirky so she wore unconventional clothes and mismatched socks and her hair was weird and she said stuff that made no sense, but she was really happy about being noticed even if it wasn’t always a positive thing ( kids can be so mean ).
❀ after her parents started investing more time in nikita, tami kinda disappeared for them at times. at first she thought it was alright because she had always been quite an independent child and she adored her sister, but feeling so neglected made her super quiet and she started to take up less space in general — became more ordinary so she could fit in and never learned how to react to attention or to demand it.
❀ depression made her super numb, but her mother in particular didn’t want to acknowledge that so she brought tami to a specialist to have her checked for autism because naturally it wasn’t normal to act like this and show so little interest in the things around her and maybe especially in her own sister whom her parents had alienated her from.
❀ tamsin wasn’t autistic and the check just made her feel more misunderstood and that emotion soon turned into anger. her parents’ divorce didn’t surprise her or even sadden her that much when it finally came around, but she does blame her sister for it a bit.
❀ because it was the only thing she allowed herself to feel for a very long time, her anger started to consume her and she took that out on her dad after they moved just the two of them, seeing he was the only one there for her anymore. it got so bad that she decided she couldn’t stay.
❀ she was homeless for a short amount of time when she moved out at 17, refusing to take her father’s financial aid. she bounced around from couch to couch, seeking shelter with friends, until she finally gave in and went to look for an apartment with her dad where she could live alone and safe. their relationship is quite good now actually. she has very little contact with her mom and she really only deals with her sister when she has to.
❀ now she lives in a greenhouse of an apartment, she works at a vegan café and studies environmental science. sustainability is by far one of the things that concerns her the most and just in general she cares really really deeply for planet earth, its people, its animals. she’s a humanitarian even if she comes across as quite an aggressive one with her pottymouth and sarcastic humor.
❀ she’s the typical cliché of the vegan who does yoga every morning and plants her own food on her balcony, but she never really got out of her attempt at a rebellious phase when she was a teenager so she still drinks a bit too much and smokes a bit too much so she can drink as many kale smoothies as she wants and she’ll STILL be a goddamn mess.
❀ she’s angry yes, but she still doesn’t let that anger take up too much space in public settings. she is very unlikely to cause a scene unless it’s around her family or her friends. she is very used to suppressing her emotions and her anger is usually a quiet one, or one she carries within herself until an opportunity for an explosion presents itself.
❀ even if she comes across as a bit brash and abrasive, she really is such a sweet girl underneath all of it and if she cares about you she will go to the ends of the earth for you.
❀ she’s a really good chef, will make you delicious vegan food ! honestly loves cooking for her friends because it makes her feel needed and helpful.
❀ tamsin is very much still trying to find her voice again. she wants to be soft and fun-loving and carefree, but first she needs to shed all this bitterness and anger.

∎ the gang owned several clubs around the city and functioned mostly as businessmen and assassins — killing those they were paid to, but also those they just deemed didn’t deserve to live or were simply inconveniences. zane’s childhood was filled with lectures that justified their work and he was trained in combat to become a generic foot soldier, just like his parents. the real power laid, and still lies, with those who never touch the dirty work themselves — the brains behind it all.
∎ this is where zane excelled. behind a computer screen he could do almost anything, crack almost any code, solve any equation, and his dad took pride in that. zane was never all that much to brag about in fist fights, but he has always been the smartest one in his peer group. he got a few smaller hacker jobs and quickly moved up the hierarchy, which worried his mother. she had always been near the bottom of the food chain and being in the family of two powerful men made her an easy target.
∎ when he was 17, zane’s mom decided to get rid of her biggest threat — her son. during a training session she pulled out her gun, but zane knew exactly what was happening and they fought for the weapon for a few minutes before zane eventually gained the upper hand and shot his mother in the head.
∎ during the fight his mom had hit him in his left eye with the handle of the gun so hard that zane’s eyesight suffered for 3 years before he regained his vision fully, but nerves were damaged so bad his eye color faded to a grey. his left eye now looks relatively healthy, but somewhat spooky.
∎ in addition to his very visible heterochromia and the scar that goes vertically through his left eye ( wow i made scar from lion king yolo ), zane had his knee smashed in when he was 12 and he never properly recovered. he has a slight limp when he walks, but he pulls it off and can probably still outrun you if it came to it. traumatic experiences, but make it FASHION.
∎ he moved to chicago the year after, mainly because his gang wanted him to be out of the crossfire since he is such a powerful and important asset. now he runs the heists and operations from his apartment in chicago and whilst he has more than enough money to live very comfortably he poses as a tech support at an it store and lives very humbly to not wake suspicion.
∎ to anyone who doesn’t pay very close attention, zane is just another quiet nerd who just doesn’t like to talk about himself. he comes across as a pacifist and lives with a “ underestimate me, that’ll be fun ” mentality, but he can probably eat any person that gets on his bad side DMVKSD
∎ zane doesn’t like to talk about himself, enjoys being anonymous, enjoys being just zane — however people view him. but he is very friendly and courteous ( superficially and lowkey coldly so tho ) to anyone who treats him with respect and he doesn’t mind the humane drama that comes with the friend squad. he’s usually the guy in the back everyone’s too intimidated to drag.
∎ he doesn’t love per say — his love is more like obsession, consumption, and he doesn’t want to bring anyone into the mess that is his life anyway. someone can think they’re close to zane and perhaps they will be; but no one will ever be close to zane ahn.
∎ tl;dr — grew up in a gang and is now a mastermind behind all their operations. being with the friend group now is mostly a disguise for him and a way to appear like any normal guy.

dj was born (on november 2nd) in chicago and lived there his entire life. his mother insisted upon giving him a korean name at birth, though his father has always called him “dj”.
his home life wasn’t necessarily great, but he can’t really complain about it either. he had a place to go, a dad who worked hard to support him. what more could he ask for?
his mom passed away when he was four, so he doesn’t actually remember that much about her. his dad never liked to talk about her much as dj was growing up.
though, to be honest, he was ever really home enough to talk about her, anyways. dj’s dad spent most of his days out working, trying to support his son as a single father. then he’d go out at night, leaving dj at home alone or in the care of various babysitters. he’d go out drinking, often coming back home during the early hours of the morning with a new girl on his arm.
because of this, dj didn’t really have consistent care growing up. between his absentee dad and a rotating group of babysitters, dj learned how to be a people-pleaser. he’s good at adapting to unpredictable situations, and can get along with most anyone. even if he doesn’t like you, you’d probably never know it.
above all else, dj learned how to get what he wanted. lying, begging, and being just plain cute enough to get whatever he wanted. nobody really knew him well enough to be able to tell if he was telling the truth or not. so, overall, he’s kind of a manipulative piece of shit.

it didn’t happen all at once, of course, but slowly dj found his place amongst this ragtag group of friends who could see him for who he was. some he met during high school, others in college, and some were simply people who had mutual friends and eventually they all bonded together.
sure, they’ve all had their ups and downs. nothing they couldn’t recover from, though. dj knows he’s not the easiest person to get along with, but at the end of the day he knows that he can trust these people to have his back (for the most part, anyways).
he’s self centered in a way that can kind of conflict with the group at times. he’s always down for a good time, and will usually be the one to suggest a stupid scheme -- and definitely the first to agree to one. but his bad attitude and vices sometimes get him into trouble -- especially when his actions directly affect another member of the group.

dj is the number one bad example ™ who you should definitely not, under any circumstances, follow the lead of. yet, somehow, that doesn’t stop people from doing just that.
honestly he’s just lucky he’s so damn charismatic (and hot), because otherwise he’d get his ass beat a whole heck of a lot more than he does now.
any vice you can think of, he’s probably done it. i mean, fuck it -- you only live once, right? he started smoking and drinking in high school, then he got a fake id and started going out clubbing with college kids when he was seventeen.
sex is another big thing for him, and he’s not really picky about who he gets it from. romance is kind of risky business with him because he can end up being rather manipulative, and he is definitely not above cheating on his s/o if he really felt like it.
underneath it all, dj actually is pretty self-aware and knows he’s a piece of shit, even if he never does anything to change it. sometimes the guilt of his actions can keep him up at night, or cause him to do even more stupid shit, losing himself amidst his vices.

okay so here’s the story:
edith hong was born, early in the afternoon of an overcast and snowy january 11th, to two lawyers in chicago, illinois
her mother was a prominent criminal defence attorney, and her father a divorce lawyer located in the north side of the city
so i guess it was a tad unsurprising when by the time she was three years old, her parents had decided that divorce was the way to go for them and edith found herself in her mother’s custody
honestly, being so young when the separation happened, she doesn’t remember living with her father all that much
she still visited with the father, and eventually, her new step-mother, up until they decided to move away to new york while edith was in high school and she hasn’t seen much of them since
as their only child, all of her parents’ expectations fell on eden’s shoulders growing up and it only got worse once it was just her and her mom
with the weight of a failed marriage hanging over her mother’s head, all while her ex-husband had seemingly moved on, the pressure increased for edith to be something worthwhile, something to be proud of, something worthy of the hong name
it really soured their relationship, to be honest, and edith grew to be quite bitter towards her mother
towards the end of her time at high school, she tried to branch out from the image her mother was pushing on her and started to go by ‘eden’ with her friends
she still got into university double majoring in forensic science and chemistry though, mostly out of spite and a will to prove that she could become ““successful”” and ““well educated””, even if she didn’t fit the mould her mother wanted for her
lil tidbits i couldn’t fit in:
eden got used to looking out for herself relatively quickly, since after her parents split there was no one around to look after her if her mom was busy with a case
she holds a grudge ,, really easy but not for no reason, ya feel ?? even if it’s not a great reason she’ll wrap her head around it an convince herself that she’s in the right

both of her parents are ethnically korean ( duh ), but her father’s nationality is american while her mother’s nationality is korean
she has a lot of family on her father’s side in the united states ( but mostly, they’re all over the place ), although all her grandparents are in korea. however, her parents met under a pre-med track at a university in korea.
after they graduated, they decided they wanted to spice up their life, so with the ties that winnie’s father had in america, they decided to move there.
both of their families are pretty wealthy, so they could’ve done their graduate medical schooling in korea, but they decided that they should just be ~spicy~ while they’re young and so they both decided to do medical school through the navy with the naval academy !
since they did this, they were required to serve and this led them to live in various places. because of this, winnie was born in spain ! she lived there for her first couple years before the hwang’s were relocated back to america for the rest of their military stint.
after their military requirement was over, the hwang’s decided to move back to spain bc that was their favourite place ! it’s kind of important to note that winnie’s birth name is actually hyewon, but when winnie was younger she notice that people couldn’t really say it properly or gave her weird looks so she changed her name to winnie ( she didn’t want a spanish name bc she wanted to be different ok ). this means that winnie is fluent in spanish tho
anyway, after she turned 12, they moved back to the united states to settle down for real. they moved to washington, d.c. where winnie went to this really small private school ! it was there she first realized she was smart and had a passion for learning. she lived being in school because she loved to learn, not because her parents forced her to go.
her parents were always whispering in her ear that she should go down the med school path and she ended up listening to them. somewhere along the way she picked up tennis because she wanted to be active and have a nice destresser that was outside in the fresh air.
eventually she got pretty good and got recruited ! she helped it get her into one of the top medical school programs in the country on the accelerated path ( although her academics helped too ) at northwestern !
her high school and college experience were pretty much the same. she was always too busy studying or too busy playing her sport to really do anything fun. that probably contributed to her, post-graduation and taking the mcat having an existential crisis in the middle of the test. however, it was already an hour into the test, so she just picked her favourite letter and bubbled it in.
now she’s decided to take a gap year before she retakes the mcat and she’s using this time to really think about her future and actually breathe a little and use a little her time. she has an internship right now in chicago at some pharmaceutical company, but it’s pretty low stress. it’s not that she’s done trying, it’s that she’s just taking a couple steps back.
