"My name is John Crichton, an astronaut. A radiation wave hit and I got shot through a wormhole. Now I'm lost in some distant part of the universe on a ship – a living ship, full of strange alien life forms. Help me. Listen, please. Is there anybody out there who can hear me? I'm being hunted by an insane military commander. I’m doing everything I can. I'm just looking for a way home..."
In case anyone missed it (I can't really seem to find much hype about it on Tumblr), BOOM studios has a kick-starter going on for Farscape comics to celebrate the 25th anniversary. There is some pretty cool stuff for it (archived comics and a brand new book with new content, also a stretch goal which I hope is reached for a signed poster from Gigi Edgley). To the 10 people on my dash who still care about this show, please go check it out :D
so one of my favourite things about season one of farscape is that seemingly everyone* who kisses Ben Browder does it in such an...alien way, except for Claudia Black.
Like, you've got Alyssa-Jane Cook doing the funky eyebrow thing, which... okay, hot, but if this is the first time we've met and you did that to me I'd be a bit like... 'huh... okay...'
and then you've got Gigi Edgley licking his top lip as first contact, which, again, hot if you're drunk and I know you but also kinda startling if this is the first time we've kissed
so then when Claudia essentially goes 'fuck that' to the idea of kissing him all alien and kisses him normally, I think it really adds to the screen chemistry, because for both Chiana and Gilina's kisses, John looks startled, shocked, and kind of laughs it off, because these girls don't kiss like he's used to, and it's an alien experience. And then Aeryn kisses him like he's used to and he just melts into it, and it just looks so much more natural, more comfortable. When he pulls away from Gilina and Chiana he looks kinda dazed and confused, but when he pulls away from Aeryn he looks grounded, you know? like he knows he's home. And it really does just step their romance up that extra notch, you know?
*okay, so admittedly, the girl from Jeremiah Crichton kisses him normally, albeit in the middle of a conversation where it's kinda unwarranted.

John Crichton. Astronaut. Flung through a wormhole and lost in a galaxy far from home. He finds himself in the middle of a prison break, surrounded by hostile aliens, soaring through space inside a glorious living spaceship called Moya. Hunted by the relentless Peacekeepers, he allies himself with his unimaginably alien fellow refugees and searches for a way home. So begins the epic sci-fi classic Farscape.
