Israel's Eilat Port sees 85% drop in activity amid Red Sea Houthi attacks - Reuters

Eilat, which primarily handles car imports and potash exports coming from the Dead Sea, pales in size compared to Israel's Mediterranean ports in Haifa and Ashdod which handle most of the country's trade. But Eilat, which sits adjacent to Jordan's only coastal access point at Aqaba, offers Israel a gateway to the East without the need to navigate the Suez Canal.[...]

Without Bab al-Mandab "you close the main shipping artery to Eilat Port. And therefore we lost 85% of total activity", CEO Gideon Golber told Reuters.[...]

"We still have a small number of ships for exporting potash, but I believe that with a destination in the Far East they will no longer travel in that direction. So that will also go down," Golber said.

"Unfortunately, if it continues we will reach a situation of zero ships in Eilat Port."[...]

God bless this cute giraffe's heart 💛 just listened to her radio interview and now i get the 'made fun of the way you talk' of it all ☺️ but in her defense words and sentences are indeed really difficult and who needs words when your actions speak louder of what you stand for!!! KK the woman you are 🫶

I just finished transcribing most of it to post a little later but yeah you know what? I’m always impressed at how she can (in her own way) speak at length with statistics about these issues. You can tell she cares deeply about it. It’s so needed.

The cutest part for me, is how many times she said “you know for me,” which is such a Karlie thing. But also because she wants to make it clear she’s speaking for herself.

The interview really highlighted all the work and advocacy she has been doing for 10 years, but more recently with her starting the Gateway Coalition to reach more women and others in need and I loved hearing her speak about it in depth 🤍

💥UNITED STATES AND COALITION FORCES LAUNCH STRIKES ON 36 TARGETS IN YEMEN💥

The United States and coalition Forces have launched a wave of strikes targeting multiple provinces in Yemen, including Attan, al-Nahdin, and al-Hafa and within the capital, Sana'a.

According to statement issued by United States Central Command (CENTCOM), the United States and United Kingdom Armed Forces, along with forces from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands and New Zealand conducted 36 strikes on Ansar Allah-controlled sites at 13 locations in Yemen.

CENTCOM said the strikes targeted sites including "multiple underground storage facilities, command and control, missile systems, UAV storage, and operation sites, radars, and helicopters."

The U.S. claims the strikes are intended to "degrade" Ansar Allah's military capabilities used in its blockade of Israel and allied countries' vessels from passing through the Bab el-Mandeb straight, the gateway to the Red Sea.

Just because I like writing out ways to tie it to Karlie

This past week Karlie announced Gateway Coalition collective as a way to support independent women’s health clinics in the Midwest after seeing how the overturning of Roe v. Wade effected her home state of Missouri and many others in the Midwest.

And Taylor chooses this Sunday to acknowledge the guy who plays football for a team in Missouri (Karlie’s home state). She chose to acknowledge him while being with the person who birthed him. A guy who has been trying to get Taylor’s attention publicly since at least May. A team that Karlie and some of Karlie’s family root for. A team that just so happens to be playing for Karlie’s other home city (Chicago) she lived outside of Chicago but it’s easier to say Chicago.

Just a small world.

i'm gonna answer your questions soon but. for some reason in like the last year or so since i left [redacted] pres is becoming some sort of leader in the world of neurodivergence and neurodivergent affirming theology?!?! like 3/4 pastors' kids are getting dx all over the place and now. they're all like 'ariel if you wanna share tell us how we can be more inclusive of neurodivergent folk' and like. i'm glad no leftright political numpkins have (yet) picked up on the whole nd thing but i'm waiting for the day the nd/queer overlap penny drops and like. will people start calling them woke? will people find something to be mad about or will they come along for the ride and like. stop throwing around lgbtqia+ slurs? or is this gonna singlehandedly undo the conservative/liberal divide in like. theory. all the while i'm like YES take responsibility for the mess you made of me but also. you're gonna take time to earn my trust back if that's what's happening

oh interesting?? yes ur so right like. obviously on paper nd and queerness are different things but in practice your nd inclusion is going to look very hollow if they are excluded anyway for being lgbtq+ lol. but maybe it will be the gateway to being more thoughtful abt these things? even if it is just in cultivating an attitude of respecting people's differences and not thinking you know people's brains and experiences better than they do?

i feel like surely there's no way you can theologise reasons to be anti-nd unless you're a mega 'demons cause autism' weirdo but i guess that doesnt stop people. if i had to predict it maybe some kind of 'neurodivergence is taking pride in what is a legitimate but painful consequence of the Fall and glorifying falling short of God's ideal' nonsense. or the good old 'your identity should be in Christ' 🤮

i did notice there was a gospel coalition article the other day about supporting neurodivergence. it was ok - i didnt love that they set up a dichotomy between 'sinfulness' and 'brokenness' and compared ND to having cancer, that could have done with more unpacking (like maybe the brokenness is in the disconnect between the world/society and autism and not inherently), but it was clearly done w the intention of identifying neurodivergence =/= sinful.

USAF hires two more Bombardier E-11A BACN executive jets modified by Northrop Grumman

The U.S. Air Force recently granted Northrop Grumman a contract for the purchase and integration of the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) payload into two additional modified Bombardier executive jets E-11A.

The BACN improves communications and tactical coordination and situational awareness for joint and coalition forces.

“Northrop Grumman is transforming the modern battlefield with advanced network capabilities that enhance the interoperability of our joint force,” said Kevin Berkowitz, director of network solutions at Northrop Grumman. "Our family of battle-tested gateway systems improves mission effectiveness and provides the secure and connective fabric between systems and sensors for joint combatants in the space, air, land and sea domains."

This award is part of the indefinite delivery contract/undefined quantity (ID/IQ) granted in 2021 for continuous operations, support and support of the BACN.

The BACN is currently transported in three E-11As and is a key facilitator of command and control, supporting air launches, personnel recovery, convoy, humanitarian assistance and approximate air support operations.

The U.S. Air Force wants to transition all its BACN cargoes to Bombardier Global Express 6000/BD-700 aircraft. Some of BACN's existing fleets are unmanned autonomous EQ-4B Global Hawk aircraft, also built by Northrop Grumman, which the USAF wishes to retire. The fiscal year 2021 budget plans required a new E-11 BACN to be added to the fleet every year for six years; nine aircraft in total are budgeted.

In 2020, Northrop Grumman's BACN gateway system has reached 200,000 hours of operational combat flight since its first deployment in the U.S. Air Force and is one of the first gateway systems tested in battle to allow fighters and platforms to communicate effectively and share data securely across all branches of the Department of Defense.

Torque's Mission Log:

It's been some time after Brevon's attack. Time works differently depending on what planet you're from, but on Lilac's planet, it would be around three years. So far, the tyrant has been quiet and has shown no activity. It could either mean he has given up and is in hiding, or he seeks vengeance and is biding his time. Let's hope it's not the latter...

Today's mission isn't about Brevon, though. In fact, this mission wasn't even a mission originally assigned by the Coalition of Planets. It all started one day when I discovered the existence of the Multiverse...

I was giving my usual status report to higher ups of the Coalition of Planets, when what looked like a crack in the fabric of space appeared out of nowhere. That crack eventually opened into a gateway, and out came a strange creature with water for a head.

He introduced himself as Spoutman, and promised he was an ally. It's hard to imagine someone who looks like him as a dangerous enemy, but in my line of work, I've learned never to judge a book by its cover. With that said, we agreed to hear him out.

Apparently, this little guy also comes from a team that seeks to protect the universe, only it includes the Multiverse as well. Spoutman comes from a different dimension, and was sent by the team's leader, RiFT, to ask for help saving an individual whose planet has been attacked by creatures called "Scorches." In exchange for our help, they would provide a way to keep an eye on Brevon and aid us whenever he decides to attack. These terms seemed fair. We help someone in exchange for information about a dangerous tyrant we've been looking for. Helping people is our job, so we're pretty much be asked to do what we always do. Still, I kept my guard up. This Spoutman was a stranger, and we don't know the motives of his leader. Can we really trust someone who has the power to travel through dimensions? I know power doesn't make the person; It's what you do with it that counts. Still, if such a being had that kind of power and decided to use it for selfish reasons, they would be extremely dangerous. Best to stay on my toes.

After agreeing to the terms, another dimensional gateway appeared, and Spoutman warned me to be careful and to set Tristan to its water form. I was tempted to ask how he knew about my Elemental Blaster and it's name, but if RiFT knew about the existence of the Coalition of Planets, than he probably knows about our weapons as well.

We entered the gateway and was immediately greeted by flames. It seems these Scorches truly are creatures who cause fires like their names suggest. Spoutman seemed to know where to go, as if he had the area memorized. After clearing out the flames that were in our way, we finally reached the person of interest. She was a girl who resembled a plant. Spoutman referred to her as "Cosmo," and although she acknowledge that was her name, she treated Spoutman like a stranger.

Cosmo looked absolutely terrified, especially when near fire. It seems these Scorch creatures have traumatized the girl. Spoutman reassured her that we were here to rescue her. It didn't take long for the plant girl to take a liking to the water boy, which makes sense considering her fear of fire.

Spoutman urged us to hurry back to HQ, but as if it was waiting for Cosmo's location to be revealed, a feral creature made entirely out of fire attacked us. From the look of Cosmo's terrified face, it was safe to assume this was one of the Scorches Spoutman was talking about.

Spoutman and I immediately attacked the beast with our weapons, the water causing the monster to shriek in pain as well as shrink in size. Now the size of a walnut, the Scorch wasn't so threatening anymore. Spoutman told it to leave or else he'd be forced to completely extinguish it. The now cowering flame creature ran away immediately. After Cosmo embraced Spoutman out of gratitude, we wasted no time to get Cosmo to safety.

Some time after returning to the Coalition of Planets HQ, RiFT himself made an appearance to explain how he could use his powers to keep a close eye on Brevon using Dimensional Gateways to spy on him. If he ever makes his move, they'll be ready. Grateful for his help to put a stop to Brevon, the Higher Ups wished to aid RiFT in protecting the Multiverse by having me join them, to which I gladly accepted. After seeing Spoutman's bravery, I already consider him a comrade. Plus, with RiFT's abilities, maybe I'd be able to see Lilac and the others again much sooner than I thought. But for now, with RiFT's team and the newly recruited Cosmo, I've gained new allies who I'm proud to work with.

And today she talked for the first time about being a part of Gateway Coalition to bring funding (shes a funder) to independent clinics across the United States. This is serious for women everywhere. I’m happy to see there are people out there doing necessary work on this issue. It affects us all. So yeah, that is impressive.
