In recent years 1973 #holidayclassic #charliebrownthanksgiving has taken heat because of the unfortunate blocking of this scene. Some #Arthistory first: Following the assassination of #drmartinlutherkingjr Artist/animator #charlesschulz was asked by retired teacher Harriet Glickman for more diversity leading to #franklinarmstrong becoming the 1st black character to be added to the #peanuts comic strip in 1968. When the cartoon’s publisher, #UnitedFeatureSyndicate questioned adding an African-American character, Schulz is said to have responded, “you run it the way I drew it, or I quit.” Now I’m saddened that the composition of this cartoon looks like a moment of inequality instead of inclusion for what is a ubiquitous holiday watch for me, my family & my art classes, and we will continue this discussion next week when school returns. It is my understanding of Schultz to be a forward thinking and kind person, and as an artist myself I’ve come it interpret this as a blocking decision error of overcompensation trying to make Franklin’s presence there more pronounced even. (Of course Marcy sits alone on one table end as a unceremonious back of a head, but that’s a discussion for another day). Feel free to comment and discuss below, but be nice y’all.

Another finished hip hop painting artwork done by yours truly. This is my parody version of Smif-N-Wessun's Dah Shinin' album cover. Dah Shinin' album cover, as many people already know, was an inspiration from Roy Ayers Ubiquity's He's Coming album cover. This certainly wasn't easy for me to do this artwork.
