3. What is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?

alright so first i decide that it's writing time -> i open my fic folder -> i stare at my wip and get crushed by the guilt of not finishing them -> i start a playlist -> i decide it's the wrong playlist and change -> i go back to the initial playlist -> i open a wip -> i read what i wrote -> i arrive at the end -> i change two sentences in the last paragraph -> time for coffee -> i reread the last paragraph.

from there i either start writing the rest.

or i close that wip and start all over again with another.

and sometimes i start an entirely new project.

and then i get distracted by tumblr or youtube.

the fact that i've ever written something longer than 300 words is a fucking miracle.

12. If a genie offered you three writing wishes, what would they be? Btw if you wish for more wishes the genie turns all your current WIPs into Lorem Ipsum, I don’t make the rules

i wish to have the power to translate the scenes i see in my mind perfectly into words

i wish for the moments where i'm inspired and the moments where i have time to write to always coincide

i wish for writer's block to disappear for fucking ever.

15. Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?

yes to all three, but only if it's my own books, obviously. a book is an object to be used not a sacred holy thing that needs to be preserved forever in amber. but if you do that to library books, then you fucking suck and i'm judging you. but if it's your own books then do whatever the fuck you want with it.

19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?

oof, ain't that a loaded question. i've sort of always written stories, even as a kid. it was bad, but it was there. i wrote a few short stories when i was in middle and high school. i've always felt like i wanted to tell stories, imagine them, create worlds and characters. my fanfic journey has started first with reading, writing came after a few years i think. i stopped writing for while because writing in french was frustrating but i didn't feel confident enough to write in english. i have a bunch of huge projects (original and fanfic) that have never seen the light of day, i've lost motivation many many times, i've had moments where i've written 40k in three weeks like it was nothing... my writing journey is chaotic.

right now i feel like i never have the time, or the motivation, or the inspiration to write, i have a lot of ideas and works in progress but i very much feel like i'm stagnating and it's quite annoying. i'm hoping that this moment will pass soon but for now i'm just dealing with the frustration.

Dark Night - A Daybreakers/Queen of the Damned inspired AU where paranormal researcher Kate enters an underground world of vampires and accidentally meets and falls for vampire!Seth. Meanwhile his ambitious brother, Richie (also undead and chasing for something bigger and better) accidentally unleashes the first vampire, Amaru. As the two become romantically linked, Amaru has her own ambitions of taking control of the world of the living and the world of the dead; showing everyone who the real queen is.

Must Be the Season of the Witch - Seth moves to a small town in Massachusetts and falls in love with a local shopkeeper named Kate, who is rumored to being a witch. What he doesn’t know is that she is an actual witch. Strange events start to unfold throughout the town, and it’s up to Kate and her band of witches to stop the evil force before she ends up losing Seth forever.

Love In an Elevator - Seth and Kate work at a law firm and one day get stuck in an elevator. Worst of all, they're the only two who are trapped and can't stand each after a first date gone terribly wrong. It's all up to patience for them to put aside their differences so they can make it out alive in one piece.

Got a Thing About You (And It Won't Go Away) - The sequel to I'm Out of My Head, Kate returns and hooks up with Seth. Several weeks into their fling, she spends the weekend with Seth and is invited by his brother, Richie, and their uncle, Eddie, to have dinner at the latter's place, much to Seth's dismay. As Uncle Eddie and Richie see their little hookup as more than just a hookup (as well as Kate who's starting to see this as more than a fling) Seth is still in his own feelings about whether things should stay where they are or if he's ready to turn their relationship into something more.

Came Back Haunted - An alternate look at what happened after "Santa Sangre," with Kate’s journey to finding herself and searching for things to believe in while Amaru is slowly twisting her thoughts, trying to take over Kate completely. Meanwhile, as Richie, Seth, and Scott are wrapped up in their own grief after Kate’s “death,” they begin to find clues that she’s still alive, but she may not be the same person they once knew.

The Roommate Dilemma - After two people take up an ad for an available apartment space, they meet for the first time during move-in and are troubled that they're of the opposite sex. Unable to break their 1-year lease, they have to learn to compromise and live with each other until their year is up.

Presumed dead!Cassian is found alive and brought back to Jyn, who has in the meantime dedicated herself post-war to running a home for children and a clowder of tookas (do they have their own collective noun?). It’s very sweet.

1653 DAYS WITHOUT LUCK by @fulcrumstardust

I am 99% I didn’t know tookas were a thing until this fic, so I am forever grateful to it opening my eyes to that. 😂

It’s a story I enjoyed reading for a lot of reasons, but to focus on the cat facet: The tooka in this story is more conceptual/a child’s toy for most of the fic, but it’s a very cute element that brings Cassian and his daughter together.

This series feels like an incredibly warm hug. Or, you know, a cuddle with a cat. Part 1 is tooka acquisition, Parts 2 & 3 are very cute snapshots of life on base in between missions.

Short scenes of Cassian and Jyn’s cat on base. A bunch of funny, sometimes slightly awkward, and sweet vignettes and incredibly accurate depiction of cat behaviour.

Cat Cafe Verse by @luciechat

You know how all we want (most of the time) is for them to have nice, soft things? This series is absolutely a universe where they get to have ALL of them. Jyn and Cassian travel the verse and have to figure out what to do with all of the strays they can’t help but take in. This fic also tickles my droidnerd!Cassian itch.

Raccoon Amaru - Canon divergent post season 2. With Kate surviving the blood well and Seth bringing her back to Jeds from the hospital to recover, Amaru finds herself in a different vessel.

La Jefe - Canon divergent post season 2 episode 9. At the blood well Kate stays up on the hill with Richie. It’s only after he’s gone down to try to take the blood for himself, in a move that is peak dumbass, that Kate has to intervene. With Richie wounded by a Xiblaban weapon and lying useless in the backseat of the car it’s up to Kate to deliver the blood and unwittingly become the new La Jefe, the head of Malvado’s empire. Seth lives his best life as a sugar baby and Richie is crying in a corner because he's supposed to be the boss.

Wild West AU - Wild West likely with supernatural elements. Kate frees Seth from the jail in Bethel the night before he's set to hang in exchange for him helping her track down her brother who disappeared with Carlos six months earlier. (Also the memorial piece for my mare, Bandit, who passed away almost a year ago and will be written in as Seth's horse.)

SethKate Wedding Date AU - Modern Day. No culebras. Kate is invited to her cousin's wedding and decides to ask Seth to be her date

“He’s not just my date, Scott.” A maniacal grin spreads over Kate’s face. “He’s my weapon. You really think I’m gonna walk in there with all their passive aggressive, pretending to be concerned comments? No, Scott. I’m going to fight fire with fire.” “That’s not fighting fire with fire Kate. That’s fighting fire with a nuclear warhead!”

Shangri-La - Canon divergent post season 2. With Eddie in critical condition and his chances of survival slim, the Geckos chose to go through with the plan to rob Malvado, even managing to save Kate’s life in the process. After coming back from their meeting with the lords, their relief at the news of Eddie’s survival is soon eclipsed by the sheer panic of realizing they now have to explain to him that not only did they pull his Shangri-La, swan song job without him, but they also lost the money.

Hero Twins AU - Canon divergent post season 2 episode 2. Kate reveals to Seth that she's pregnant during their fight in the car. After Sonja gets Seth clean, and with Eddie's help they hide away from the culebra world. 7 years later Richie and Kisa come crashing in with the news that their daughters are the next set of Hero Twins, destined to shake up the culebra and Xibalban hierarchy.

This leans very heavily into Mayan mythology, including a bibliography of academic sources, that will be included. It could be considered an exploration of the hero twin archetype told through Seth and Kate's fictional twins.

Witch AU - Modern day with supernatural elements. No culebras. Kate comes from a line of witches cursed to die when they begin to manifest their magical abilities. When she starts to have visions of her own death she goes to a professor of the occult Richard Gecko to try to figure out why her family keeps dying young. A witch himself, he tries to help her figure out the curse along with Seth who has turned his back on his supernatural abilities. It's a race against the clock to see if they can save Kate before her visions of her death come true.

Selkie AU - Coming home from college to attend her mother's funeral, Kate finds a package Jenny had left her. Kate's seal skin and an explanation of what she is. After going out to learn more about who she is her skin is stolen and she has to rely on the owner of a nearby bar, Seth Gecko, and his friends to steal back her skin.

this order is somewhat loose, it changes depending on my Mood.

gray areas

Gray, in all its varieties, serves as a perfect understanding of who Cassian Andor is. Gray gives Cassian Andor’s life meaning. It colors it, entirely. The life of Cassian Andor, from the ice-covered mountains of Fest, to the white sand beaches of Scarif, and all the gray areas in between.

to the surprise of absolutely fucking no one, gray areas continues to be my beloved, the first fic I posted and the OG Nonsense. while I don't think the prose is particularly noteworthy (some of it is quite good but you can also tell I was Possessed and just banging out the chapters like a machine), I'm still very proud of the plot and themes I managed to drag out of it. I am obsessed with the idea of the narrative explicitly telling you what is going to happen even while the character(s) don't know, and that happens a lot in this. (there is no way to change the ending). I think the original characters in this are also interesting, particularly Asori, Nerezza, and Taraja; and Zeferino, who many readers were stunningly fond of, lol. when I wrote it in 2016/2017 it was still in line with the "canon" backstory, something I did put some effort in. Andor has absolutely shut the door on that one but I think the story still holds up as an alternate take on what Cassian Andor's backstory could have been.

2. to meet beyond shadows

Five years after the Battle of Crait, the Resistance wages a fierce war against the First Order. Jedi Master Ben Organa-Solo guides the New Jedi Order in the war, and their fight against Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and his Knights. But there are evils waiting to be awakened. Words that must be said. Myths that must be realized. Brothers that must be confronted. The end is near. [Or: Ben Solo is not the one who becomes Kylo Ren, in this full TROS AU/rewrite.]

I return to this series a lot, my Sequel Trilogy AU in which Leia and Han had identical twin sons, expanding on the twin themes present thru Star Wars (literal twins but also metaphorical twins, good and evil, light and dark etc). one of them goes the Kylo Ren route while the other does not. my take on Kylo in the Sequel Trilogy is that he never had a chance with the uniqueness he couldn't help, and that he inherited all the worst traits of the Skywalkers, so it was fun to explore what might have happened if he had a brother who was his mirror, a brother who was the best of the Skywalkers yet loved him unconditionally still. I wrote a lot about brothers on opposite sides who still loved each other so desperately in the Nonsense, and this series built on that foundation. (Local Woman Who Is Not A Brother Constantly Writes About Brothers). Ben has a really great arc in this series that's one of the finest character arcs I've ever done, if not THE finest. and I so treasured the way multiple readers came to sympathize and understand Bail/Kylo and his ultimate ending, a character who was never interested in redemption but sort of stumbled into it anyway. this last story in the series is the biggest departure from the Sequel Trilogy as a whole (the other two mostly followed TFA and TLJ) and I think it's very good. I love the plot, the Old EU lore I borrowed from, the tragedy and the euphoria, seeing the end coming and being powerless to stop it, and the ultimate messages it shared. **chef's kiss** [my gravestone will probably read something like "here lies theputterer who died as she lived; trying to get people to read her Sequel Trilogy AU"] [honestly this fic might be the best I've ever written, at least Technically speaking]

3. death trembles to take us

Jyn has walked the Earth for over four thousand years, leading a team of warriors. They’ve fought in hundreds of battles, and died hundreds of times, returning to take up their weapons and fight again. They choose to fight for what they believe in, as the world turns and changes around them. But in Juba, they encounter an existential threat, one they have never seen before. And meanwhile, on the other side of the world, an assassin dies on a city street, only to rise again. [A THE OLD GUARD au]

the little story that could! a very self-indulgent AU that got such a lovely and gratifying response from the fandom(s). (special shoutout to the SEVERAL readers who gave this fic a shot even tho they'd never seen The Old Guard and/or didn't care for it lol). I am quite proud of it. it was fun to explore history and come up with backstories for the Rogue One gang that still meshed with what we know of them in canon. I like the themes and messages the story delivered. I would also be deeply remiss in not Once Again thanking @rifle-yes for the support and enthusiasm. at least half of the readers of this fic were drawn to it thanks to their efforts. I also don't think I would have attempted my Fringe AU without the readers of this story.

4. Lady Lazarus

A woman dies in Venice. That’s how the story goes. It’s very important they follow where the story goes. Where it’s supposed to go.

listen. I was also very surprised. I watched the Mission: Impossible movies for the first time this summer and totally fell in love with Ilsa Faust, this very cool and interesting spy with somewhat fluid loyalties. also the movies fucking rule. go see Dead Reckoning: Part One while it's still in theaters. as a known connoisseur of the Tragic Love Story, I ate that shit up and wrote a speculative story/ character study exploring Ilsa in the movie. prayer circle it becomes correct. I like the flow of this fic and the prose of it is quite nice and also all the resurrection bits. Rebecca Ferguson forever!!!

5. a ghost story

He looked at Fima. “The shadow; the man. What did he look like?” Fima swallowed, and Cassian did not like the way his son was looking at him, with something akin to wariness, something close to fear. “Like you.” [Or: a ghost story about fathers, sons, and the trauma of abandonment.]

I think all of my little short stories in the Nonsense Expanded Universe are nice and so this last spot could be interchangeable. but I am very fond of a ghost story, in that it is sweet and tragic and allows Cassian a bit of understanding with who Gabriel was, something he desperately needed and was very much paling in comparison to all he came to know about Serafima. also ghosts/hauntings are very fun.

this fic used to be my favorite thing in the world and now it's the bane of my existence :D

the epilogue is mostly fully written and i have half of the next chapter down and i know everything that's happening in between but everytime i sit down to write IT'S SHIT

Karen looks down. There’s a water stain on the hardwood floor next to her left foot.

“We all have ghosts, Greg,” she says softly.

“I don’t wanna push,” he starts, his head turned away, towards Frankie who’s enthusiastically licking his fingers. “But you can talk to me,” he finishes, glancing at her for a second. And for an instant, she wants to. She wants to tell him everything, and at the same time there’s a shadow in his eyes that tells her that he already knows. How he could she doesn’t know, but for a fraction of second, it feels like he sees Karen, not Rose. And just as it came, the moment is gone and Greg is Greg, petting Frankie’s ears and muttering at the dog and blissfully ignorant of the horrors of her past.

“Thank you,” she says, her throat tight.

Greg hums in his mug.

She takes a sip from hers.

He finishes his coffee, stretches and stands up with a last pet to Frankie’s head.

“Whatever it is, it’s gonna be fine,” he says, patting her shoulder as he walks past her to get back to the kitchen.

and the one based on the bullshit with A is still in the bullet points stage but it's basically a romance novel based on the doomed relationship we decided to end last week and i'm writing it as a form of therapy because otherwise i'm just gonna drown myself in ice cream and cry.

(Alt link 'cause idk if the ao3 site is still a mess) [Fdtd] - This was for a secret Santa gift for my friend @lilmissuncreative, and I really thought the idea of a thief falling in love with a billionaire's daughter at an art museum was cute, and I still find it weird and creepy that DJ was at an art museum while I was almost done writing this lol.

Take a Picture (Fdtd) - This was also for my friend @yossariandawn based on one of the prompts she asked me to write. It was pretty sweet and cute, I thought, where Seth and Kate get to have their "honeymoon" haha (or much more like a very long, needed vacation 'cause they deserve it 😩)

I'm Out of My Head (Alt link) [Fdtd] - So... this was actually the first fic I've ever posted publicly, and it was also the first smut fic I've ever posted publicly, too lmfao! But I got this idea from watching an old show I used to watch in the 90's called Brotherly Love (that Lawrence brothers show), and then from rewatching Venom, like that movie pushed me to write it by that point instead of continuing to imagine it lmao.

Dirt (Fdtd) - So this is actually a fic I have never shown anyone and never posted, and it's still a rough draft (and I mean ROUGH), but it's like still one of my favorites because I liked writing Seth and Kate's dynamic, and Kate's feelings and what's going on through her mind from right after they left the Twister to the end of what I'm not going to spoil lol! But I really enjoyed seeing the highs and lows of their relationship, as messy as it was, and this fic was a hot mess honestly, which fits overall 🤣 But yeah, I wrote this years ago and I actually rushed in writing the ending paragraph just now because the story was already finished, but I needed a way to end it lol. But yeah, it's not really a polished story, but it's finished!

Lemonade (Fdtd) - So this was from two prompts someone asked me to do with a character kissing someone in secrecy and/or to shut them up, and I really do love the neighbor idea, and I also love how short and sweet it was. It was overall perfect and the only perfect fic I ever felt good writing honestly 😂 I have thought about expanding it for a while, but I already have 20 WIPs I haven't come remotely close to finishing either lmfao.

“The Creed says we live on in the songs of others.” His fingers drummed the top of the rifle. “That we are the memories of the people who know you. Not the other way around.”  You nodded slowly, the smile now easy and genuine. “That’s comforting. Memories as songs. Like a chorus when all played together.” The silence stretched, the tension no longer gripping. And then a mischievous grin crept across your lips in the low lamp light. “Does this mean Din Djarin can sing?”  His frown was palpable. “It’s not those kinds of songs.”  You laughed, soft and gentle, and he wished he wasn’t so predictable. Still smiling, you dropped your legs out in front of you, crossing them and leaning back. Your eyes fall to the rifle in his lap.
