#I’ve read some Twitter commentary about how the under 25 assimilation is some kind of #social commentary about the younger generation being easy to influence #one I find that to be hilarious considering how easily my family was pied pipered into anti-vaxxing #but two I fundamentally disagree with the idea that this is a commentary about the younger generation #look the under 25s in Starfleet are fucking ensigns #they have no power and no say in the trajectory of the technology they’ll be stuck with for decades #fleet-wide inter connectivity was a decision made by captains and admirals #you know..the Wolf 359 survivors #the ones who should have known better than to touch Borg technology and decided they had to be smarter than the fucking Borg #so they did it anyway #also the ones who created the angry Changelings #by withholding a lifesaving sure and experimenting on a sentient species #this isn’t a commentary on wokeism or younger generations being fickle and collective-y at all #or ok maybe it is BUT #this is a commentary about how the older generations have continuously fucked with things they shouldn’t #created an existential crisis with unsustainable politics and ecosystems #and whether or not they die now or later have fucked the youngest generations into holding the bag
