Oh I'm now very obsessed with your art (star wars and ben 10. I love it here).
Also, when I was younger (like, when Rebels first aired) I also thought it was a prosthetic leg.. wups.
So, how far are you right now?? Did you also watch Clone Wars and plan to watch Bad Batch. I'm so curious!
EEEE THANK YOU!!
My Ben 10 hyperfixation has unfortunately been temporarily shot by Star Wars Rebels, but I'm sure it will be back at some point. I adore that silly guy and his arsenal of alien's way too much to let them go.
And you're definitely not the first to mistake Ezra's leg for a prosthetic, fandom vets have informed me it was in fact a very popular fan theory in the early days! The more you know!
Also,, I could be wrong, but we haven't exactly seen his leg before. We could still be right,,, prosthetic leg Ezra could be real,,, (I'm delusional).
And I have seen the clone wars! (loved it, sobbed like a baby at the last season). I actually finished Clone wars right before I started Rebels.
My flatmate has a watchlist we're slowly making our way through and so far we've done:
The prequels
The main Trilogy
The Clone Wars
Tales of the Jedi
Star Wars Rebels
Currently we're taking a small break from star wars to binge watch Community, but once we're done with that we've got
Rouge one
Andor
Obi Wan
Bad Batch
The Mandalorian
Visions
(We're trying to find a weekend soon to binge watch Ahsoka all in one go, I want to see my son come home)
So yeah, got a long way to go before we cover all that, still, I am determined to watch it all! (Also sorry for the waffley response, got carried away typing, hope you are having a great day!!)

been thinking a lot about nora and her sexuality. nora to me is a product of her environment an arguably sexually repressed twenty-something who can't get her kit off as easy as the other women around her.
i've mentioned this in the past that by modern standards i'd class nora as a demisexual but over the past few days i've been binge watching pose, whilst writing away at nora's timeline and if i'm honest, nora's bisexual with a preference for women.
nora, deep down is such a scared, insecure little girl who tried to sprint before she could crawl. she ran from her problems at home, she ran from her problems in london and if it hadn't been for polly mangling in her life, she'd've ran all the way back to london after getting rid of the baby like esme had told her to do.
she likes the pretty things in life she never had or wasn't allowed to touch so this kid's head exploded when she hit london.
heading down south to become an actress then moving in with her neighbour's slightly older daughter who'd been working as a dancer for sabini. eilidh took nora under her wing. took her out to the dancehalls, the clubs, the shows and little nora had stars in her eyes for the scene and her new flatmate.
contrary to popular belief nora's first drug-fuelled sexual encounter was with eilidh at seventeen. it terrified her but it was the one thing she didn't want to run from which scared her even more.
but the glitterball burst evenutally. eilidh had started seeing the sabini's new bartender, chasing her new high and within a few months they were already engaged, ready to run off to canada together. nora's stage work dried up so she headed for her auntie's in birmingham.
nora's having a hard time dealing with her sexuality and after feeling abandoned, yet again by those she trusted to look after her she begins projecting what she thinks she needs onto this sweet brummy boy she met in the garrison. one she's sure her family would love and with esme watching over, nothing could go wrong.
then we hit the problem. that same rush and hit of adrenaline nora experienced when she went to london, she watched the same thing happen to michael.
but nora wouldn't stop it, because michael loved her, he wouldn't leave her and if she joined in then he wouldn't have to seek anything elsewhere.
michael became nora's protector literally and figuratively, he stood in front of the life she once had and she wanted to keep it that way.
everything nora felt for eilidh, she felt for michael but she'd convinced herself that this was different, because this was the way it was intended.
(in reality, nora was infatuated with eilidh as a dumb teenager and she became hellbent on projecting that same feeling onto michael. the difference was, eilidh saw nora as that dumb teenager too but michael saw nonie.)
then michael got himself arrested and well, everything went to shit.
i'm not going to spoil it (the timeline is nearly done, i promise!) but nora's sycophantic need for control over this part of her life is what kept her from unfortunate eilidh's fate.
(i also just wanna make it clear, for as much as the initial intention was to shake-off the fear of her sexuality. nora does love michael and out of all people, not just on a practical level but of all people its him she's most terrified of ever finding out because its him she doesn't want to loose - which we know she does).

Florence + the Machine debut a new song, 'Heaven is Here,' ealier this week alongside a video by acclaimed director Autumn de Wilde and choreographed by Ryan Heffington. “‘Heaven is Here’ was the first song I wrote in lockdown after an extended period of not being able to get to the studio,” says Florence Welch. “I wanted to make something monstrous. And this clamour of joy, fury and grief was the first thing that came out. With dance studios also shut it was my dream to one day create choreography with it. So it’s one of the first pieces of music I have made specifically with contemporary dance in mind.”

After recently releasing her new single via KRO Records, New Zealand-born, London-based singer-songwriter October and the Eyes is sharing her new video for 'Spiral'. Speaking about the video, October said “I worked closely with my good friend and flatmate Max McLachlan to come up with the concept of the video. I liked the idea of the camera being in constant rotation, speeding up over time to create a sense of disorientation and nausea while dipping and re-emerging between to parallel worlds. There’s two versions of myself in the video - this strong, assured, almost domineering presence, and then there’s this wounded, lost, animalistic version - both of which I’ve often felt like I pendulum between”

Cardiff’s Panic Shack have returned with a new single, ‘The Ick’. It’s the latest taster from their debut EP Baby Shack, set for release on April 8 via Brace Yourself Records. Speaking about the track, the band explain: “‘The Ick’ is about that feeling you get when you’re dating someone and they do something that really turns you off. No matter how insignificant or trivial – the feeling is irreversible and it’s really not their fault. Something that shouldn’t be a deal-breaker but when you’re there staring your Ick in the face, there really is no coming back from it. Where their mere presence is enough to make you want to vom in your own mouth. You would rather run into oncoming traffic, whilst burning alive, than to spend a second longer in their company. It was written while we were on a little song-writing holiday we called ‘Tweak Week’ which ended up being more of five-day drinking binge in our quaint little holiday cottage. We were gossiping and laughing about past dating fails, sharing anecdotes and it just snowballed from there. Every lyric are actual things that happened to us and gave us major ICK! Someone really did shush Sarah in the cinema – if you can believe that!! (We can.)” It comes alongside a video, of which they continue: “The video is a bit of a different vibe from our usual boysterous antics. We really wanted this one to be darker and more serious to match the music and paired with the silly lyrics we thought it was a fun contrast. Our good friend Ren Faulkner filmed this one too!” [via Dork]

Chloe Moriondo has announced a new canine-themed EP, puppy luv. Set to drop on April 8, the announcement comes alongside new track ‘sammy’, dedicated to her pet dog of the same name. “puppy luv is a collection of canine songs that I coincidentally wrote over the past couple years,” Chloe explains. “To me it feels like a playful bite from a tiny puppy that kinda stings a little later. I dedicate it to Sammy my dog!” [via Dork]

Kate Bollinger has spent the past few years putting out EPs — her most recent was 2020’s A Word Becomes A Sound — and she’s got another shorter collection of songs coming out later this year. The Look At It In The Light EP is being released next month, and she previewed it a couple months ago with 'Yards / Gardens.' Now, she’s sharing the silky smooth 'Who Am I But Someone,' which comes with a charming video directed by Allyson Pierce. Here’s Bollinger on the song and visuals: "There have been many times when I’ve been so afraid to uproot my life in some way but just as afraid of what will happen if I don’t. This song is a conversation with myself about avoidance, denial, being afraid of change, and being afraid of stagnating. I shot the video in Los Angeles with Allyson from Pear Juice and a cast and crew of all women (besides our amazing producer Al!). Shooting the video was like being at summer camp – it was one of the best experiences and I’m so proud of how it turned out." [via Stereogum]

Norwegian and Icelandic duo Ultraflex have a deep-rooted passion for electronic music. Made up of Kari Jahnsen and Katrín Helga Andrésdóttir, the duo continues to cement their own unique path in support of their distinct electronic pop brand. Since the release of Visions of Ultraflex, their debut album from 2020, they have continued to make waves, displaying their analog production techniques and glitzy pop sensitivity, and Ultraflex are now ready to share latest track 'Relax', which is the first single since the debut came out. The video was made in collaboration with nail artist Lisa Mård, jewellery designer Margrét Unnur Guðmundsdóttir, makeup artist Jana Kalgajeva, and cinematographer Ingrid Loftsgården. Speaking about the single, the duo said: “Throw on a G-string and some high heels, find a bottle of body lotion, and lather up whilst listening to the sound of bells, chimes, shimmery synths and authoritarian command/ creepy psychiatrist order to take it easy.” [via LOCK]

Dublin-based Kynsy – AKA Ciara Lindsey – has returned with a brand new single, ‘New Year’. Written on New Year’s Eve, she explains: “At the time I had a real desire to celebrate the turn of the year by doing something creative. I had definitely been listening to a lot of Roisin Murphy around then and with the song I wanted to explore the idea of someone who is looking for meaning as the clock edges towards midnight and a new year is on the horizon.”Speaking about the accompanying visual, she adds, “I wanted to recreate the chaotic energy of the song somehow.  Working with Georgia Kelly and The Collective we took inspiration from the frantic nature of old black and white silent films to make something strange and intense to try and capture that New Year energy.” [via Dork]

Australia based songwriter Beckah Amani has shared her new single 'Lebeka Leka'. The artist has Tanzanian heritage, and was born in the country before relocating with her family to Australia. 'Lebeka Leka' is a highly personal song, one that delves into family history, and inter-generational support systems. The title actually refers to a familial name, with Beckah commenting: “My mum calls me Lebeka because that’s how you pronounce my given name Rebeca in my language Kirundi, she always says 'lebeka leka’ which means ‘Rebeca, let go’. I was particularly thinking about fear, how we often get so caught up in it that it kind of distorts everything that we want.” Snap Factory directed the clip, which places 'Lebeka Leka' in its sentimental context. She says... “I wanted to create a visual push and pull between my fears, how they distort my safe places, my dreams and warm moments with my loved ones. I wanted the music video to show how it's the interaction with family and friends that override the presence, weight and pull of these fears; because their voices are the ones that truly matter.” Beckah continues: “Music began with family for me. It was so special and emotional to have them be a part of the music video and to film on location at my family's farm as well as my family friends’ farm. The filming process felt like a big hug from the most important people in my life. ‘Lebeka Leka’ is a love letter to all the people in our lives that make living worth it. Reminding us to remember what is truly important.” [via Clash]

Jenny Berkel has uveiled her new single and video 'Kaleidoscope'. She explains of the song: "The internet with its rabbit holes, slipperiness, and propensity for mis- and disinformation inspired me to write 'Kaleidoscope.' I wanted parts of this song to evoke the same tense, frantic feeling that the internet can sometimes give, paired with a chorus that lifts its way out of that mood." The accompanying 'Kaleidoscope' music video was filmed at Halifax's indoor theatre for Shakespeare By The Sea. Director Meg Hubley (they/she) of Phyllis Rising Productions came up with the idea of setting it in a steadily shrinking room. The strange and surreal figure in the video is played by Mads Higgins (they/them), a circus performer, who moves around the room in a series of graceful and eerie poses. "The lyrics of 'Kaleidoscope' evolved extensively as time went on," says Jenny. "Given that this song considers the importance of care and precision in language, I felt even more attentive to the lyrics than usual."

Emerging as one of the year’s breakthrough acts, Los Angeles singer and songwriter Em Beihold (pronounced bye-hold) unveils the music video for her buzzing single 'Numb Little Bug' via Moon Projects/Republic Records. The visual seamlessly translates the song’s story and energy to the screen, evoking her sharp sense of humor and even sharper songwriting sensibility in the process. It serves as the perfect companion to this rising hit.

Fears, the rising Irish artist, musician and producer Constance Keane, shares the hauntingly beautiful single '16' featuring her late close friend and cello player, Sophie Gwen Williams. She also reveals a video directed by Zoe Greenway, who performs in punk band M(h)aol alongside Keane, which is dedicated to Williams.  Amongst the rolling beats that are influenced by the traditional Irish drum, the bodhrán, the plucked strings of Williams' cello are contrasted by the hushed angelic vocals of Keane’s whose lyrics reflect on a difficult past relationship and the freedom that hindsight offers. Williams’ instrumentals on the tender track were recorded from a filmed performance from the one and only time they got to play the track together. Fears says on '16' and the collaboration, “Sophie was an incredible artist and a very close friend of mine. We did a filmed performance together last March, thinking we'd get a chance to record it 'properly' in a studio, but she passed away before we could. Zoe and I dedicate the video for '16' to her memory. I had made her a dress for the original performance out of pink tulle - the same fabric I have with me in the video. She was a really inspirational and encouraging person, and I wanted to create something that shows how I carry her with me, even though I no longer have her physically here.” Greenway filmed Fears in The Maharees in Co. Kerry in south west Ireland, an area Keane visited frequently with her family growing up. Keane adds “It's a very special place to me, and I've always wanted to shoot there, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity." Combining reflective electronics, acoustic samples, and haunting vocals with organic visuals, Fears invites the listener on an ethereal journey, blurring the boundaries between music and visual art. Her minimalist approach centres on emotive subjects, which are all-at-once deeply personal yet remarkably universal.

Following her highly praised return with 'Happy Birthday Forever', Toronto-born, London-based artist Tess Parks is sharing a new single and video, 'Brexit At Tiffany’s'. Following years of international touring and a lengthy list of collaborations with Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Anton Newcombe in recent years (most recently the duo’s self-titled 2018 LP), the track is lifted from her incoming solo album, And Those Who Were Seen Dancing, due out May 20 on Fuzz Club Records and Hand Drawn Dracula in Canada. Out now, new single 'Brexit at Tiffany’s' is a piece of smouldering, organ-soaked psych-pop driven by a husky spoken-word vocal from Parks that channels the gauzy poetics of Patti Smith and Lydia Lunch. On 'Brexit at Tiffany’s', Parks recalls: “We were recording at Rian [O’Grady]’s house and the guys started playing this music which had Francesco [Perini]’s Ray Mananzarek Doors’ sensibilities and Mike [Sutton]’s Neil Young-esque guitar, and then I started reading this poem I had written which pieces together definitions of words I found interesting and had written down. The title is thanks to Ruari [Meehan] who kept saying this over and over and we all thought it was the best thing we ever heard.” She says of the video: “This video was as planned and thought out as its namesake. My friend Robert happened to be in London with a day to spare, so last minute we rallied up some friends who were graciously willing to spend an afternoon wearing these horrific English Breakfast masks. Robert Ascroft, a photographer and director based out of California, adds: “Tess and I met up for a coffee while I was on assignment in London. I told her I would love to shoot a video for her brilliant new record. Right from the start of the conversation she had the idea of wearing these English Breakfast masks. The shoot was very loose which is unlike any music video I have ever shot. Without much communication I got the idea and just ran with it. Tess and I have an unspoken way of working together and have similar tastes/references. We had a fun and fast shoot with some great friends both new and old. And we got some odd looks from passersby to top it all off.”

Following the announcement of their debut, self titled, album and first single 'Liar', Envy Of None, the new project featuring Alex Lifeson (Rush), Andy Curran (Coney Hatch), Alfio Annibalini and singer Maiah Wynne have revealed 'Look Inside', their next single and video featuring Maiah and directed by Jaden D. Andy Curran, having a “soft spot” for 'Look Inside' recalls the song’s creation “I was in my studio late one night, headphones on… a few glasses of red wine deep and thought, wouldn’t it be fun to pull out my bass, blow up the tone, double it and play to a really messed up super slow drum groove. It’s got a real stoner vibe to it. That’s what happens when you mix wine and bass… Mission accomplished!“ With the rough bed track and song name sent to vocalist Maiah Wynne her initial thoughts were one of introspection “Sometimes you have to shine a light on all the ugliest pieces of yourself in order to truly change, and you have to keep slaying that dragon over and over again. It is a continuous, slow and painful process. The guitars and bass really drive the grittiness and heaviness I felt when I wrote those lyrics. It feels like an all-encompassing sludge, and that is what I absolutely love about this song.”

We are all familiar with that sound. The sickly sweet echo of jazz-toned instrumentation that softly rings out whilst standing amongst strangers in a crowded lift is something we have all become accustomed to over the years. Looking to breathe life into that universal tune, singer-songwriter Shenna drops her new track 'Elevator Music'. While cleverly curated production hopes to transport listeners to the setting mentioned in the title, we are also treated to a dose of the talented artist’s angelic tone, which is used to deliver a set of lyrics as bold as the concept of the track itself. “I want people to envision themselves as the powerhouse that they are when they hear this song,” divulges Shenna when discussing her newest release. “Even though it has fun lyrics and a quirky storyline, the overall meaning is assuring the listener it is okay to put yourself first and prioritise what matters to you. Time is money and sometimes you have to give yourself a mental break from people asking for favours or blowing up your phone!” Accompanying the tune is a playful self-directed music video in which the singer takes to a hotel-like setting to serenade watchers, adding to the intriguing essence of the new track. Unique at its core, Shenna’s 'Elevator Music' is a tune worthy of a listen. [via Wonderland]

London’s Tora-i is here to soothe your soul with her track, 'PBFF'. A softly winding tune at its core, an instant air of calm washes over the track as stripped-back production gives way for Tora’s hypnotic R&B tone to enchant those listening. Sweet in sound the track may be, but that is not where the project ends. Now looking to stun viewers visually, the star on the rise drops the track’s accompanying music video. Directed by Liam Gleeson, symbolism runs rife in the video as we watch Tora take to a dusky room in which faceless figures contort their bodies in a truly artistic manner. As hauntingly beautiful as the vocals that layer over it, the latest visual display from the artist proves that her creativity knows no bounds. [via Wonderland]

Tulsa, Oklahoma band Cliffdiver have signed to SideOneDummy and will release their new album Exercise Your Demons on May 6 via their new label home. It was produced by Seth Henderson (Action/Adventure, Knuckle Puck, Real Friends, etc) and mastered by Will Yip, and first single/opening track 'New Vegas Bomb' features Skatune Network (aka Jeremy Hunter of We Are the Union and JER). Powered by the dual vocals of co-lead vocalists Joey Duffy and Briana Wright, it's a spit-shined pop punk song with some easycore chugs that would fit in anywhere from early 2000s Drive-Thru Records to Upsides/Suburbia-era Wonder Years to the recent pop punk revival, and it goes full on third wave ska in the bridge. "It's an introduction to the bigger story on the LP and taps into the idea that you can party away the pain, which in my experience doesn't work out too well," Joey says, and Briana adds, "As track #1 it's important that 'New Vegas Bomb' not only lyrically establish the storyline at the heart of Exercise Your Demons, but also demonstrate the musical versatility that we've brought to the entire album." "I’m going to be okay because I’ve decided I’m going to be okay," Briana adds about the album overall. "It’s resilience – and if you own your shit, it’s painful, but no one can take that from you. That’s why the record’s called Exercise Your Demons, because while you may not be able to exorcise them and get them out of your life, you can train them and get them under control." Pop superstars Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion have teamed up on the collaborative track 'Sweetest Pie,' which they teased on Instagram earlier this week. Megan and Dua also released a video for the the sugary track. It’s directed by Dave Meyers, and the concept credits Megan. Dua and Megan, elaborately costumed, make plenty of dessert-related innuendos and dial in their choreography. “Hot girl shit, me and Dua Lipa finna get the party lit,” Megan raps overhead. Brooke Combe has dropped a brand new single, ‘Miss Me Now’. Arriving alongside an accompanying visual, Combe says: “I wrote ‘Miss Me Now’ after seeing an old flame when I was on a night out and thinking it was a good idea to leave the club with them. It’s never a good idea… but it makes for a good tune.” [via Dork]

Cornelia Jakobs want us to be sure she’s not just a “one hit wonder” and has dropped a new single. Cornelia is currently one of the most talked about artist in Sweden. Cornelia wants to share another side of her music and drops a new music video 'Fine'. This drak lo-fi emotional love ballad was written by Cornelia herself together with Carl Silvergran, Emma Bertilsson and Felix Flygare Floderer. The beautiful video was directed by Celia Caap. Singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke has shared a new version of her 2020 song ‘You Can’t Hurt Me Anymore’, a deeply personal cut that now features vocals from Jaguar Jonze. Lifted from a forthcoming deluxe edition of Miller-Heidke’s 2020 album Child in Reverse that will arrive on March 18, the redux dials back some of the retro synth-pop sensibilities of the original for a soaring, atmospheric version with layered guitar and a powerful duet from Miller-Heidke and Jonze. Miller-Heidke said ‘You Can’t Hurt Me Anymore’ is about “dancing on the grave of an arsehole”, explaining that it draws on her experience of being sexually abused by her great grandfather as a young child. “This song is about how I felt when he died. Ultimately it’s a really empowering song to sing.” The new version of ‘You Can’t Hurt Me Anymore’ arrives alongside a video directed by Joshua Tate. In her statement, Miller-Heidke said that she wouldn’t have been able to be so open about her experience without the examples of activists Grace Tame and Brittany Higgins, but said the most important inspiration was Jonze, “with whom [she] had a very deep conservation with the morning this song was written”. “She described some very shocking things that happened to her as a child, and I felt very connected to her, and full of admiration for her resilience too – that’s when the song title ‘You Can’t Hurt Me Anymore’ popped into my head,” Miller-Heidke explains. “I think it’s one of the most powerful songs I’ve written, and it’s a privilege to sing it with Jaguar Jonze, who transformed the track with her potent raw energy.” [via NME]

Sigrid has announced the details of her second album: How to Let Go is set to arrive on May 6. To accompany the announcement, the Norwegian pop artist has shared a video for her recent single ‘It Gets Dark’, which was created with ‘Mirror’ director Femke Huurdeman and CANADA. and sees Sigrid escaping into space. Commenting on the song and video, Sigrid said in a statement: "I believe you need to feel the lows in life to feel the highs, and you have to know what sucks to then properly appreciate the good stuff. 'It Gets Dark' is an ode to that. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been as excited about a single release before. It’s the first song that was written for my upcoming album, and I remember the joy and relief when we figured out the soundscape. I was like FINALLY I know how this second record is gonna sound! The music video is the weirdest I’ve gone visually and I absolutely love it. We’re playing with planets, UFO’s and rooms all made by hand, as well as perspective, time and space. It’s the second time working with the brilliant Femke Huurdeman and Canada, and I’d literally do anything for that team; hence me being reborn out of a planet egg, flying in space with wind blowing in my face, punching a planet and wearing the Saturn ring on my head. It’s as ridiculously fun as it was making it: enjoy!" According to a press release, the follow-up to 2019’s Sucker Punch was written at a time when Sigrid was contemplating her life in Norway and her life outside of Norway. “They’re two different things,” she said. “The chill girl who loves to ski and hike and cook versus the other part of me that’s like ‘let’s go out’, or let’s play massive shows, go on stage and not be scared of anything. I used to be so shy as a kid but then when I’m on stage at Glastonbury for example I love losing myself in it.” [via Our Culture Mag]

Harry tries to keep everyone quiet so Y/N can sleep (pre-relationship flatmates)
I forgot to post this blurb, forgive me 😂
.
Harry had no idea at what time had Y/N fallen asleep, but he assumed it was no sooner than 5 AM. She’d finished this group project all by herself because her teammates were a bunch of assholes who’d taken advantage of her kindness as always. He’d wanted to have a nice little chat with them about how they’d let her do all the work, but since she’d specifically asked him to stay out of it, he couldn’t even threaten them.
Maybe she’d thought he was being nosy and annoying, but he only wanted to protect her and look after her. If only she’d known how much it’d physically hurt him to see her so stressed out about a stupid project. He would’ve even volunteered to do all the work if she’d let him.
Anyway, he was just glad it was all done now.
When he came to check on her this morning, her bedroom door was wide open and she was fast asleep at her desk. He put her into bed and cleaned the spilt coffee on the desk and the floor. If coffee kept normal people awake, it got his Y/N drunk and sent her to sleep at random places in the middle of the day. It’d happened once before but she just never learned.
He left her bedroom quietly, shutting the door on his way out and heading to the kitchen to make breakfast for himself. It was Sunday, and he’d got no specific plans so he decided to stay in. He would wait for her to wake up and they would have lunch together and spend the rest of the day relaxing in their flat without the intrusion of other people.
At least that was the plan before his best friend decided to show up.
“Good mor--Hey!”
Niall dodged the grape Harry threw at him, but before he could say another word, Harry rushed toward the kitchen door and covered his mouth.
“Keep your voice down! Y/N is sleeping!”
“It’s almost noon. Why’s she still sleeping?” Niall whispered.
Harry heaved a sigh. “She was exhausted. She didn’t get to sleep last night."
“Why?”
“It’s none of your business.” He shook his head, his eyebrows knitted together. “Why are you here though? And how did you get in?!”
“I was bored so I came over to hang out with you,” Niall said as he pulled out the key from his pocket and waved it in front of Harry’s face. “You gave me a spare key, remember?”
Harry remembered, and deeply regretted it at times like this.
“Well, you can’t be here,” he said, grabbed Niall’s arms and spun him around to force him back to the living room.
But before they reached the front door, Niall pushed him away, looking confused and pissed off at the same time. “Why not?!”
“Because you’re loud. You’ll wake her up.”
“But--”
Ding dong!
“Fuck!” Harry cursed under his breath and patted Niall on the back when the unexpected guest rang the doorbell for the second time. “I’ll go check on Y/N. You get the door.”
“Got it!” Niall blurted then instantly lowered his voice, “I mean…got it.”
“Just get the damn door, please,” Harry breathed in frustration and bolted to Y/N’s room before the doorbell woke her up.
Lucky for him, she was still sound asleep. He silently shut the door on his way in and tiptoed to her bed to sit down on the edge. Seeing her smile in her sleep made him happy in a way he could not explain. And with a bit of reluctance, he reached out his hand and gently brushed his thumb across her cheek.
His flatmate stirred a bit. She didn’t open her eyes but suddenly turned to the side, grabbed his hand and rested her cheek on top of it. His entire body stiffened at once. He had to hold his breath because he feared even his slightest movement would wake her up, but also because he wanted her to stay like that even if it would make his hand go numb.
“Harry! Gemma is here!”
“Fuck you, Niall!” Harry murmured as Y/N groaned softly. He was distracted by her adorable pout when Niall shouted his name again and left him no choice but to free his hand and left the room to see what was going on outside.
“Oh, there you are!” Gemma exclaimed as she saw him, and the boys shushed her at the same time.
“Y/N is sleeping!” Niall said, but Gemma was just as confused as he’d been.
“It’s almost noon.”
“She didn’t get any sleep last night,” Harry explained again, putting his hands on his hips. “What are you doing here anyway?”
Gemma said nothing, only stepped forward and opened her palm. It was only then that Harry remembered he’d borrowed his sister’s car last night because his car was broken. He hurriedly shoved a hand in his pocket and pulled out her key.
She grabbed it, raising an eyebrow. “Have you washed my baby?”
As expected, Harry shook his head.
“I knew it!" Gemma growled. "Never borrow my car again!”
“Okay, fine. Now can you leave?”
Gemma hadn’t got a chance to react to his unwelcoming attitude when all of a sudden Layla barged right in.
“Niall James Ho--”
Harry’s hand flew to her mouth before she could finish the name, but abruptly he jumped away, eyes widened at the wet bite mark on his palm. “You bit me!”
“You assaulted me first, asshole!” She pushed past him to get to Niall. “You told me you’d take me shopping today! Why are you here with Harry?”
“Were you hiding from her?” Harry asked, making Niall’s face turn pale and Layla’s redden.
“Were you hiding from me?!”
“I was not! I-I swear!”
“Guys, be quiet please! Y/N is sleeping!”
"Can someone explain to me what is happening here?!"
“Hey.” The voice made all four of them shut up and snap their heads to see Y/N standing at her bedroom door.
“Hiii, Y/N! Did we wake you?” Niall said happily. Gemma gave Y/N an awkward wave as Layla crossed her arms, frowning at Harry.
“That’s it!” Harry sucked in a deep breath, pointing to the door. “All of you. Leave!”
He managed to shoo them all out of the flat, locked the door, and stood with his back against it, panting heavily. When he finally opened his eyes to see Y/N beaming at him, he could feel the blood rising up to his face.
“Did you put me in bed?” The question froze him to the spot.
She walked over to him. His heart was beating so loudly when she stopped and their faces were just inches apart. He almost forgot how to breathe, but somehow managed to pull his shit together and utter a response, “y-yes. Was that...was that okay?”
She nodded. “You did a good job keeping them quiet. All I could hear was you yelling at them.”
“Shit…” He facepalmed himself, laughing along with her.
Y/N’s sweet laughter made all the butterflies in his stomach go insane, but she showed him no mercy by taking his hand away from his face and held onto it instead of letting it go. He supposed she enjoyed making him blush. She was the only one who could do that and he wasn’t sure if she already knew.
“Did you have a good sleep?” he shyly asked while she was subconsciously fidgeting with one of his rings.
“Yeah...Are you hungry? I’ll make us lunch.”
“Hmm, that sounds good...”
“It’ll take a while. Do you have to go somewhere later?”
“No.” He shook his head and cleared his throat. “I think, maybe, um...maybe we can...binge-watch something on Netflix later?”
“Great idea!” Y/N clasped both hands together. “I haven’t had a lazy Sunday in so long. Let’s do it!”
When she let go of his hand and ran into the kitchen, his eyes followed her until she was gone and the corners of his lips turned up. He remembered and called after her, “Y/N! Let me help you!"

summary: Brooke, Yvie and Nina are three flatmates who forged a friendship in their first year of university and picked up some other waifs and strays along the way. Now in their final year, there are feelings that need to be unravelled and confessions to be made whilst navigating drunk nights, hungover mornings, takeaways, group chats, library meetups, cafe gossiping, and the small matter of getting a degree.
last chapter: Monet and Nina continued to be adorable, Yvie and Scarlet continued to be cute, but Brooke wasn’t sure if she wanted the same for her and Vanessa.
this chapter: there’s library woes, a flat party, a lilac-haired, tattooed bombshell, and Yvie confides in Scarlet.
***
Scarlet let a long puff of air out of her cheeks and blinked at her laptop, bored. She’d been so eager for Uni to start back again, so excited to get back to the city and see her friends that she slightly forgot about the whole academic aspect of everything. Lectures had started that week and in between trying to force four different modules’ worth of information into her head she had caught up with Vanjie, chatting before, after and in between lectures when they could. It was interesting, Scarlet thought. Before Christmas she could never get her to shut up about Brooke and how things were going with her but ever since the holidays it seemed as if Brooke was a subject to be avoided. Scarlet knew something must have changed but she didn’t want to push Vanjie for information if she wasn’t ready to share it. They still seemed to be together, anyway, even if things seemed a little strained.
At least she could say that wasn’t the case for her and Yvie. After many long evening Skype sessions during the holidays, the pair of them had decided that they couldn’t bear to be apart a moment longer and so Scarlet had taken the six hour train to go and stay with her girlfriend at her family home for a few days. She had been a bag of nerves at the thought of meeting Yvie’s family, but her Mum had been lovely (and seemingly just relieved that her daughter had settled down), her Dad had been welcoming, if a little quiet (“He’s under strict instructions not to speak because every time he opens his mouth he embarrasses me”), and the brothers and sisters that were still at home and not out somewhere or back to uni themselves were kind and friendly. In the three days they spent together, Scarlet and Yvie went for cold, crisp walks along the beach, curled up on Yvie’s old battered leather sofa the family had had since she was small and watched Disney films, gone ice skating, and looked out over Yvie’s city on a rickety ferris wheel that had looked as if it would take one good sneeze to knock it down.
But all that movie-screen romance was behind her now, as the most romantic Scarlet had been with Yvie in the week since they’d been back at uni was a Tesco Finest £10 meal deal cooked in Yvie’s flat and then watched in front of the TV as a perfect accompaniment to Coronation Street. They were both busy and waiting for their academic life to slow down a little again. The same could be said for their whole friendship group, really. The whole gang hadn’t done anything all together since their Christmas dinner, and Scarlet was itching for a night out where she could get absolutely off her face and forget that she was working towards the degree that would define the rest of her life. Sighing again and feeling the words on her laptop merge into a big blur, Scarlet looked up at the big clock on the wall. Five o'clock. She turned to Akeria who was sat at the desk beside her. She and Silky had come to join her mid-study, the latter having been dragged into the library by her flatmate because she still hadn’t handed in an essay that had been due since before Christmas and Akeria was quite frankly concerned.
“Akeria,” Scarlet whispered, the other girl quickly finishing a sentence she was working on, turning away from her laptop towards Scarlet and pushing her reading glasses up the bridge of her nose. “I want a night out. This is shit.”
“This is what we signed up for, baby,” Akeria gave a small laugh and shrugged, turning back to her laptop. Akeria’s dissertation wasn’t due until May but she had already started writing it, which struck the fear of God into the majority of their friendship group and made them all feel like slackers. “This is uni. This is our fuckin’ degree, girl.”
“You’re really making me feel better,” Scarlet rolled her eyes, Akeria giving another laugh under her breath.
“Hey,” Silky said from her position at the desk across from them, her voice entirely at speaking-pitch and causing a few heads to turn their way. “What’re you hoes talkin’ about? I want in.”
“We’re bitching about you,” Akeria deadpanned, tapping away at her keyboard.
“Fuck off, Kiki.”
“I want a night out,” Scarlet hissed over to her as quietly as she could. “But Little Miss Law Degree wants to stay in the library from dusk til dawn every evening until she graduates.”
Scarlet’s face lit up as Silky bellowed a laugh so loud it caused the girl beside her to put a set of earphones in. Looking at Akeria and hoping she hadn’t been offended, she was relieved to see the other girl giving her a wry smile.
“This bitch can be so savage when she wants to be, Jesus. Ouch. No, I’m just sayin’! This was what we chose to do, so quit complaining,” Akeria rolled her eyes, leaned back in her chair and stretched. “That being said…I do think I’ve earned a night out.”
“Well me fuckin’ too, bitch!” Silky exclaimed incredulously, Scarlet laughing in spite of herself.
“How much have you written, Silk?” she asked, the girl opposite looking down at her laptop, clicking a few times, then looking back up to the girls in front of her.
“You know what…it don’t matter how many words I’ve done, it’s the level of mental energy I have needed to use in order to-”
“Silky, how many words,” Akeria demanded, fixing her with a stare that looked as if it could slice her in half.
“Ninety-four.”
“Jesus Christ on a crystal meth binge,” Akeria sighed, Scarlet letting out a splutter beside her. Silky looked at them both pleadingly.
“Hey, now don’t make me feel bad! We only been in here-”
“An hour and a quarter,” Akeria stared at her.
Silky threw her hands up. “Well I been doing readings an’ shit! Do you know how hard it is to get any articles that have the exact quote ‘Boris Johnston is a piece of dog shit’? Fuckin’ hard!”
“Why the hell are you looking for that?” Akeria blurted out, unable to keep herself from laughing. Scarlet was laughing so hard she thought she would pass out.
“Because, bitch! I want to use that exact wording in my essay but I need some academic shit to back me up.”
“Fuck me.”
“To be fair, that is the worst,” Scarlet shrugged, not wanting Silky to feel too demoralised. “Searching for three hours to find one reference that can back up one of your points. Like, why can’t you just make the point because you want to? You know? Why is your opinion only valid if it’s been previously thought up by a white man in a suit?"
"Very profound,” Silky nodded emphatically. “Anyway, this bitch needs to get her drink on. I’m going to ask the girls."
As she watched Silky pick up her phone, Scarlet was reminded to check her own. She’d deliberately sat on it and put it on flight mode in an attempt to force herself to do work. Now, she felt as if she could excuse a small break. Turning off flight mode, she watched as a small flood of notifications came through. There had been fifteen new group chat messages, Nina had tagged them all in a meme, and she had two messages from Yvie. She checked the latter first, wondering if she would ever get tired of the feeling of her heart soaring like a balloon every time she saw, heard or spoke Yvie’s name.
Y: if i told u i was considering buying a set of faux-leather underwear would that be weird or a turn-on
Y: also that lasagne is even better on the second day u need to have some of it when ur round
S: Sorry this took me so long!!!!!! I turned my phone on flight mode in an attempt to get some work done
S: No such luck
S: Leather look underwear is a yes from me but i’m inclined to ask for pics first xoxoxoxoxo
S: Also yes i want lasagne
S: That’s not a euphemism btw i actually really do want some lasagne
Y: 😈
As Scarlet gave a soft laugh to herself, she checked what had been going on on the group chat since she’d been studying. She wondered what exciting plans could have been made, or what drama could have happened, or if anyone had any exciting or interesting news.
Okay Then: oh my god
Kim Kardashian-West: ??????
Okay Then: has anyone seen the state of Simon Cowell’s face
Scarlet gave a colossal roll of her eyes. She should have known that, at times, the groupchat could become one massive shitpost.
Kim Kardashian-West: No??? What’s he done to it?? Has he been in a crash?
Okay Then: he might as fucking well have been
What followed was a picture of what seemed to be a man whose face had been partially melted with a blowtorch, until Scarlet looked closer and realised that it was indeed the TV talent show judge.
mose: Jesus Fucking Christ what’s he done to himself
Scarlet’s bitch: that’s frightening
Okay Then: RIGHT???
Scarlet’s bitch: that’s what i see in the corner of my room when i have sleep paralysis
Kim Kardashian-West: That is TRULY the stuff of nightmares!!!!
Brooke’s Ford Transit Vanjie: Fucking hell Plastique don’t fucking frighten us like that!!!
mose: He must surely see that he looks like shit? Like how could you not?
Okay Then: how can he see anything when his eyebrows are now entirely obscuring his eyes
Kim Kardashian-West: I am actually quite frightened guys
At this point, Scarlet caught up to the current conversation.
large incongruous silkworm spiced praline: AS TERRIFYING AS SIMON COWELL’S FACE IS
large incongruous silkworm spiced praline: CAN WE TALK BUSINESS FOR A SECOND?
Kim Kardashian-West: Of course!
mose: I’m all business
Brooke’s Ford Transit Vanjie: Sure you are baby xxxxxxx
Scarlet’s Bitch: that is fucking vile keep that shit off the groupchat u big gays
large incongruous silkworm spiced praline: YA FAV BITCHES ARE IN THE LIBRARY AND WE ARE GAGGING FOR A NIGHT OUT

Kim Kardashian-West: SILKY!!!!!!!! THAT IS DISGUSTING!!!

Brooke’s Ford Transit Vanjie: AHAHAHAHAHA SILK

Scarlet’s Bitch: fuck i’m not even sure i can do tonight ladies
large incongruous silkworm spiced praline: YVIE DONT YOU DARE
Scarlet’s Bitch: i’ve got a 9am tomorrow and i want to get that first u know
mose: Yvieeee the last time we were all together was literally over a month ago
Scarlet pouted to herself, disappointed at the thought of Yvie being the only one not out. Suddenly, an idea began to form in her head. Biting back a smile, she took to her chat with Yvie.
S: Yvieeeee
Y: Scarleeeeet
S: Please come to the flat party :(((((((
S: I’ll do anything you want
Y: anything i want?
S: Yesssss
Y: that sounds like a challenge princess
Scarlet crossed her legs and felt herself squeezing her thighs together. Looking around at the rows of silent people, she turned her phone brightness down to make extra sure nobody could see her messages, just in case the conversation turned the way Scarlet thought it was about to.
S: Well it depends on what you want me to do x
Y: wellllll
Y: i’ve been wondering if u can take a strap like a good girl
Scarlet felt briefly as if she’d been shocked by a defibrillator. Yvie always seemed to go from 0 to 100 real fucking quick, and Scarlet couldn’t help but love it.
S: You know I could baby
Y: i know you could, you’re such a good girl
Y: so how about if i come to this party i get to watch u bounce on my dick until u cum all over it
Scarlet could feel her face growing red. She and Yvie had messaged like this before, when they had been at home and miles away from each other and alone and very much not-in-a-public-place, but this was so fucking different.
S: Christ Yves I’m in the library!!!!
Y: shut up u started all this!!
S: Yeah I kinda did
Y: deliberately getting me to tell u what i want to do to u later when ur sitting in public in a fucking silent building
Y: jesus fucking christ Scarlet that’s so hot
Scarlet felt an urgent pulse of heat between her legs and she squirmed in her seat.
S: Where are you just now?
Y: i’m in bed
Y: touching myself at the thought of u sitting absolutely soaking wet and being able to do fuck all about it
S: So you’re coming to the party baby?
Y: how about
Y: if u can get to the flat before i cum i’ll fuck u into the mattress and i’ll come to this party or whatever
Scarlet nearly jammed her fingers in her laptop in her haste to get it shut, wrenched her charger out of its socket so hard it almost broke, and muttered a near-breathless goodbye to a confused Akeria and Silky all in the space of about twenty seconds as she struggled into her coat and sped out into the stairwell.
Five hours later Scarlet had managed to fit a lot in. She’d hurried round to Yvie’s to find her in bed in the black lace underwear she knew drove Scarlet crazy, and they’d fucked twice (fast, rough and passionate then sweet, tender and gentle) before Scarlet had reluctantly dragged herself out of Yvie’s bed to head back to her own flat and get ready for the party. Nobody seemed to know what the dress code was, least of all Nina who had sent about nine different outfit options to the group chat for opinions, so Scarlet settled on a tight black bandage dress that stopped at her calves, with trainers to dress it down a bit. She’d hurriedly munched down a bowl of pasta a la whatever-was-left-in-the-fridge, then set off across town to meet the girls at the edge of the park, where they had decided they would all meet then walk together to Monet’s flat.
Scarlet heard her friends before she saw them, Vanjie’s distinctive laugh ricocheting off trees and mixing with Yvie’s Bond-villan one letting Scarlet know she was heading in the right direction. Finally reaching the group, Scarlet gave them all a hug in turn and took in each of their outfits. It was still icy and cold, so most of them had opted for trainers over heels- save for Plastique, who always wore them for any night out and Vanjie, who was wearing chunky heeled boots. Much of their clothes clashed with the weather, though. Plastique and Akeria were in tight dresses, Brooke and Silky were in short skirts and tops. Vanjie had chosen some loose-fitting ripped denim jeans and a tiny bodysuit which left little to the imagination. Nina had gone for a light blue t-shirt dress and a chunky pair of trainers, her nerves palpable even in the group dynamic. Scarlet thought Yvie looked the best though in her burnt orange velvet skirt and tight black long-sleeved bodysuit, her unruly hair tamed and brushed into two huge bunches.
"You look nice, Nina!” Scarlet complimented her in an attempt to calm her down.
“Aww, Scarlet! Do I actually?” Nina smiled brightly, then cringed at herself. “Fuck! Why can’t I just take a fucking compliment like a goddamn normal person? I do this with Monet all the time!”
“Because you got a big-ass crush,” Silky shrugged. “It’s almost as big as Akeria’s ass. Not quite, though.”
“Shut up,” Akeria rolled her eyes and shoved her friend.
“Does it even count as a crush if you’re seeing the person in question?” Scarlet wondered out loud. Plastique shifted her weight from one foot to the other.
“Don’t know. Ask Brooke or Vanjie.”
The group exploded into laughter, something about it not quite meeting Brooke or Vanessa’s eyes. They were both standing close together, hands entwined, but Scarlet didn’t know. There seemed as if there was something off. Forced, even.
“Okay, let’s go, motherfuckers. I’m freezing my vagina off,” Vanjie said decisively, Nina moving first and making to lead the way.
“Right, a few things before we arrive,” Nina began speaking at a mile a minute before Scarlet could even compliment Yvie on her outfit. “Monet has somehow got it into her head that you guys are cool enough to be invited to this party. She doesn’t know the truth yet, so just try to act like a group of normal fucking human beings?”
“The truth? What the hell is that meant to mean?!” Brooke let out a laugh.
“That you’re all fucking weirdos! And she, for some reason, still likes me, so I am not having you all put that in jeopardy, capiche?” Nina snapped back, only half-joking.
“Jeez, thanks,” Akeria rolled her eyes, Nina instantly protesting.
“I’m joking! I’m joking. But not really. Like Silk, please try not to overdo it tonight?”
Silky raised her eyebrows and sucked her cheeks in. “I’m making no promises, girl.”
“Akeria, please don’t accidentally make out with anyone’s boyfriends?”
“Oh my God Nina! That happened ONCE!” Akeria cried out incredulously.
“And Vanjie, don’t-”
“Nina. We’re not going to embarrass you. Chill the fuck out,” Yvie rolled her eyes and squeezed the shoulder of the girl in front of her.
The girls all finally reached Monet’s old, red-brick building and her front door, and Nina pressed the buzzer nervously. There came a crackly screech of mayhem through the intercom which contained unintelligible speech, and then the girls were all quickly buzzed in. Scarlet looked to Yvie questioningly as she wondered if she’d heard any words, but she also appeared to be as clueless as she was. It didn’t seem to faze any of the other girls though, as Vanjie was already bounding up the stairs with Akeria as fast as her chunky heels could carry her. They didn’t have to walk far, as Monet’s flat was on the first floor. Vanjie moved to open the door first when it was suddenly wrenched open from the other side to reveal a tiny, skinny blonde girl with her hair curled and loose on her shoulders. Her pink dress was as tiny as she was, but regardless of her size she looked ready to fight.
“Who the fuck are you?” she addressed Akeria, barely acknowledging the others. “You here to sell us girl scout cookies, or an Avon catalogue, check our meter readings maybe?"
Just as Akeria looked as if she would instigate a full-scale fight, Nina poked her head out from behind Brooke’s tall frame. "Cracker, don’t be a dick!”
The girl’s face immediately relaxed into a wide, shameless smile. “Nina! Oh my God, you bitch, I never saw you! Come in, God!”
Akeria still bristling and Vanjie not too dissimilar, the girls all trooped into the flat which immediately struck Scarlet as something out of an American teen Netflix special. The hall was dark with the occasional string of fairy lights, and was packed full of people. Scarlet instinctively reached for Yvie’s hand in the crowd and got a squeeze back without even having to look at her. Nina and the girl, Cracker apparently, led them through to a huge bedroom which had obviously once been a living room but had been repurposed by a money-hungry landlord. The room was quieter but still had its fair share of people dotted about in amongst the Morrocan market wall-coverings, tiny elephant incense stick holders, and swathes of printed photos and posters that covered the walls like tiles. A huge bed sat to one side where Monet sat sprawled out with her shoes kicked off, chatting to a black girl with a huge afro that otherwise looked so identical to her Scarlet assumed they must be sisters. Cracker flung herself down on top of the mattress and joined them, gesturing vaguely to the girls.
“Neens!!” Monet suddenly squealed as she looked up, throwing her arms out as Nina launched herself half on the bed and half on top of her. Monet continued, muffled, as the rest of the girls awkwardly lingered. “I’m so happy you came, oh my God, this is so amazing!”
“I brought everyone too. Is that still okay? They can leave if not,” Nina instantly reeled off, Brooke bellowing out a laugh. Monet’s face lit up.
“Oh my God of course not! Brooke! Scarlet! Yvie!! Oh my God, come and hug me,” Monet beamed, her intoxication showing ever so slightly as Brooke graciously leaned down and hugged the other girl them got instantly pulled onto the bed. Monet gestured for everyone to come closer. “Guys! It’s so good to see you all, thanks so much for coming! There’s, like. Endless booze in the kitchen. Feel free to just drink us out of house and home.”
Silky’s face lit up and she immediately grabbed Akeria and Plastique, making to drag them through. “Vanj, you comin’?”
“Get me something? I'mma stay here with my girl,” Vanessa shouted back, giving a smile back to Brooke but finding the other girl looking down at her phone instead. Scarlet frowned involuntarily and then was suddenly distracted by a squeeze of her hand from Yvie (who still hadn’t let go).
“I’m going to go make sure Silky doesn’t give herself alcohol poisoning. You want me to bring you back a drink?” she offered, Scarlet unable to help the smile that spread across her face.
“You’re a sweetheart. Surprise me.”
“A pint glass of tequila it is,” Yvie deadpanned as she walked away, too quick for Scarlet’s hand that swatted at her in response. Scarlet tuned into the conversation that the girls were all having on the bed. It was big, but it was still a bed in a student flat, and so Brooke had her elbows resting on the mattress and her lower body on the floor and Scarlet had had to squeeze up to make room for Vanjie to sit beside her.
“She was guarding the place like fort fuckin’ knox,” Vanessa was saying, a playful side eye being cast to the blonde girl, who let out a laugh.
“You’re an animal,” Monet’s potential sister rolled her eyes. “A living guard dog. We should put a collar on you. One of those ones with spikes.”
“Nah. That’s only reserved for people who want to fuck me. Do you want to fuck me, Bob?” the girl asked easily, before taking a swig of the cider bottle she was holding. Monet hooted a laugh and the other girl didn’t even break her expression.
“I wouldn’t eat your pussy if it was made of chocolate fuckin’ fudge cake. Get the fuck out,” she retorted, Nina looking up at them all from her position on Monet’s tummy.
“Is that not that Lana Del Ray lyric? My pussy tastes like chocolate fudge cake…”
Scarlet let out a laugh that was more like a scream, the others on the bed doing much the same thing. Monet wiped her eyes and took in a deep breath.
“Oh my God, okay. For those of you that haven’t met before- this is Cracker and Bob. Two out of the three girls I have the blessing or curse of living with, I haven’t figured out yet,” she gestured to the two girls in turn and then turned to Scarlet. “And this is Scarlet, Vanjie and Brooke Lynn. They’re Nina’s friends, so they’re obviously amazing.”
“Nina could throw up on your bed and you’d say it was amazing,” Cracker looked pointedly at Monet. Monet shrugged and threw her arms around Nina.
“And what?"
"Nice to meet you guys. Are you two sisters?” Scarlet asked, curiosity getting the better of her as she pointed between Bob and Monet. Monet laughed and Bob rolled her eyes.
“Are you saying that all black people look the same?” Bob asked her with a piercing stare, Scarlet’s entire stomach dropping at the thought of having offended her.
“Oh my God, no! No no no, I just thought-”
“She’s kidding, Scarlet. Being a dick, as usual,” Monet cut off Scarlet’s frantic protests and immediately calming her down. “No, we’re not related. We just look spookily alike.”
“You fuckin’ wish you looked even a tenth as good as me. Hey, where the fuck is Monique?” Bob asked suddenly, both Cracker and Monet shrugging.
“Flatmate number four,” Monet quickly cut in to explain.
“Away making some chaotic cocktail, probably,” Cracker shrugged. Bob gave another roll of her eyes, then turned and smiled at Brooke, Scarlet and Vanessa.
“Nice to meet you anyway. Are you all flatmates too?” Bob asked politely, ignoring the position of the slit on her long skirt as she crossed her legs.
“Not us three exactly. Brooke lives with Nina and Yvie, that’s my girlfriend,” Scarlet explained, her stomach full of fizzy fireworks at being able to say that for real. “Vanj lives with Silky and Akeria over on Antigua Road.”
“They’re the best hoes in the world. They’re through in the other room getting drunk, but you’d love them,” Vanjie cut in. Cracker let out a laugh.
“Oh yeah, shit. Sorry I was so mean to you.”
Vanessa smiled easily, the free alcohol that the flatmates were providing clearly making up for any perceived slight. “Don’ worry about it, girl. We’d probably do the same if some hoes we didn’t know turned up at our party.”
“What about you, Scarlet?” Bob asked politely, instantly seeming far less intimidating.
“I’m over on the South Side. Kinda far out. I found this girl on SpareRooms to live with, but she’s a bit of a dick,” Scarlet explained awkwardly. Cracker leaned in, her eyes shining excitedly.
“What’s her name?”
“Fuck, I don’t want to say in case any of you are friends with her!” Scarlet laughed, but no protestations came. She lowered her voice as she continued. “It’s Ra'Jah? Ra'Jah O'Hara?”
“Oh, FUCK!” Bob cried out, holding onto Cracker for support as she almost fell off the bed. “I know who that is! She’s in my Econ tutorials! Oh my God, she’s an actual fucking moron. I had a group project with her once and she did literally nothing but talk about drugs and bitch about people on our course.”
As Scarlet was about to launch into how horrifically messy a flatmate she was, Yvie came back from the kitchen with two bottles of beer and a tall black girl with a shock of lilac hair swept up into a ponytail and a matching straight fringe. She was wearing a black pair of jeans and a tiny black cropped t shirt which showed off her many tattoos, and in her hand looked to be an elaborate mojito-style concoction.
“I made a friend!” she cried, before slumping herself down beside Vanjie, Scarlet growing ever more squashed up against the bedpost.
“Oh, the wanderer returns,” Cracker deadpanned. “What did you make?”
“Margarita mojito,” the girl shrugged, sipping her drink to punctuate her sentence. “It’s basically a mojito with a big-ass shot of tequila in it. Guys, this is Yvie! She’s Nina’s friend!”
“Oh, you’re Scarlet’s girlfriend!” Bob smiled at her in recognition, Yvie clambering into a tiny space on the middle of the bed, handing one of the beers to Scarlet, and casting her a look through narrowed eyes.
“What have you been saying about me, bitch?” Yvie smiled playfully, the look she was fixing her causing a sudden flash of heat to strike between Scarlet’s legs.
“All good things, baby,” Scarlet smiled innocently, Yvie relaxing and leaning back against Scarlet’s chest.
“This is Bob and Cracker. They’re my other flatmates. You’ve already met Monique, then?” Monet introduced the girls to Yvie.
“Yeah, we bonded over watching Akeria flirt with people. The bitch is a fucking mastermind. She walked into the kitchen and had a guy talking to her within, like, one minute.”
“Introduce me, introduce me!” Monique bounced on the mattress excitedly. Vanjie came dangerously close to falling off the bed and Monique quickly noticed, reaching a hand out to her and pulling her up with it. “Shit, sorry girl!”
Scarlet watched as Vanessa swept some hair out of her face and cast a quick appreciative glance to Monique’s toned arm. “Holy mother of Jesus, I gotta start goin’ to the gym.”
Monique let out a bark of a laugh. Cracker caught her other arm and held it steady, the tequila/rum combo threatening to fly out of its glass.
“Brooke, Scarlet and Vanjie, meet Monique.
Monique, this is Brooke, Scarlet and Vanjie,” Cracker pointed to each of them in turn, finishing with Vanjie who still seemed to be casting her eyes over Monique.
“Well, Vanessa. But these girls call me Vanjie. Or Vanj. You choose, really,” Vanjie explained to Monique, the girl’s ponytail swishing as she cocked her head.
“You ever get called baby?” she asked, feigning innocence. Scarlet couldn’t help her eyes shooting wide and her brain almost went into meltdown trying to register everyone’s expressions at once. Vanjie was laughing, but her face had flushed pink, clearly flattered. Cracker was screeching a laugh, Bob looked long-suffering. Nina and Monet were looking at each other urgently, and Brooke was properly looking at Vanessa with interest for the first time since they all sat down on the bed. Scarlet couldn’t see Yvie’s face, but she’d felt her tense up, and she couldn’t blame her.
“Yeah. By Brooke Lynn over there,” Vanessa finally said through her laughter, Monique not seeming fazed as she cast a glance to Brooke, who was smiling patiently but inwardly seething if the red tips of her ears were anything to go by.
“Oh, sorry girl! I didn’t know she was taken,” Monique laughed pleasantly.
“Yeah, we’re a thing,” Brooke opened her mouth, breaking her silence. Vanessa was smiling at her from across the bed, and Brooke met her eyes and smiled back.
“A thing?” Monique let out a short laugh, spilling a little of her drink. “A thing is, like, a noun. Not a relationship.”
“Technically a girlfriend is a noun too. Thing, place, person,” Nina piped up, presumably in an attempt to diffuse the increasingly awkward vibe.
“Are you a primary teacher, Nina?!” Cracker asked, clutching her chest in faux-surprise. Nina sighed.
“If I could reach a pillow, I’d thump you."
"Monet, you hearing this? Your girlfriend is practically chatting me up,” Cracker laughed, then stopped suddenly as her face became a mix of horrified and regretful, Bob giving her a not-so-subtle thump on the arm. In lieu of gauging Monet and Nina’s facial expressions, Scarlet whispered her thoughts to Yvie.
“When the hell are they actually going to become official? It’s been ages!” she hissed into her ear, Yvie craning her head round to reply.
“Nina would have to be on a cocktail mixer of cocaine, Es and alcohol to gain even half the confidence it would take her to ask Monet, so she’s waiting on Monet to do it for her. The thing is, I think Monet’s not as confident as we all like to think either. Maybe sometimes Nina’s panic can present itself as disinterest.”
“So Monet’s maybe waiting until she knows where she stands with her?” Scarlet nodded in realisation.
Yvie sipped her drink and took Scarlet’s hand, tracing round her fingers absent-mindedly. “I think so. I mean, we all know Nina’s absolutely ass-over-tit in love with her because we’re her friends, but she’s not going to let that show to Monet until she’s ready.”
Scarlet watched as Yvie played with a large turquoise ring on her finger. Her brow was furrowed as she thought about the situation, and Scarlet’s heart felt like an enormous water balloon- incredibly fragile and full and feeling as if it was about to burst. She thought back to Yvie’s words on Christmas dinner night, the ones she hadn’t been able to stop thinking about since she’d said them.
Suddenly, she was pulled out of her thoughts by a screech from Vanjie, who was looking at Monique with enrapture as she told a story. Admittedly, most of the other girls were looking at her too, but Scarlet didn’t miss the sparkle in Vanjie’s eyes as she listened.
“And there it was, I swear by almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit…a whole baggie of weed, in the bin, covered in Cracker’s vomit.”
It was an odd moment for Scarlet to tune into the story but judging by the roar the girls on the bed gave, it seemed to be over. Vanjie had doubled over laughing and was clinging to Monique’s arm for support, the girl in question smiling down at her as if her reaction was the only one that mattered. Scarlet frowned and leaned into Yvie once more.
“Hey. What the hell is the deal with Brooke and Vanjie?” she whispered, making sure to keep her voice extra low. She instantly felt Yvie tense up in her lap.
“What do you mean? They seem fine to me?” Yvie murmured back. Luckily for Scarlet, she knew that Yvie lied so rarely that it was easy to spot when she was telling one.
“You know something. What is it?” Scarlet hissed urgently in Yvie’s ear. Hearing her give a big sigh, Yvie shifted and then rose on the bed.
“Me and Scarlet are just getting another drink, save our seats,” Yvie announced to the circle, receiving a cheer from Nina.
“Enjoy your sex!” she cried after them, and Scarlet, confused, simply followed Yvie to another room. The hall was quieter now, but the same could not be said of the kitchen, where as they walked in they saw Silky, Akeria and Plastique ringleading a game of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Ignoring their friends, Yvie turned to Scarlet urgently, concern covering her face.
“Okay, Brooke told me this in confidence but you’re my girlfriend so I kind of can’t really keep anything from you, right?” she began, Scarlet nodding quickly and desperate to hear what Yvie knew. “But you CAN’T tell anyone about this, babe. Honestly, it needs to stay between us. Do you promise?”
“I promise,” Scarlet said instantly, her mind in overdrive. Yvie pulled a pained face for a moment, seemingly incredibly conflicted, and then looked to the floor.
“Brooke is having second thoughts about being with Vanjie.”
Scarlet’s face dropped. “What?!”
“Brooke told me that she felt everything was getting too intense, and that Vanj wanted more than Brooke felt she could give her. She’s sticking it out to see if it’s just a blip, but…yeah. Now you know why they’ve both been so weird,” Yvie explained, biting her lip and looking at Scarlet with concern.
Scarlet didn’t know what to think. It all made so much sense, the oddly distant vibes between them both, the strained atmosphere, Vanjie flirting with Monique. Suddenly, a thought occurred to Scarlet. “Does Vanessa know?”
Yvie rolled her eyes. “Yes absolutely, Scarlet, Vanjie is very happy staying with someone who isn’t even sure if she wants things to go further with her, Brooke’s told her everything!"
Scarlet’s mind seemed to fuse. "She needs to know.”
Yvie’s expression dropped. “Oh my fucking Christ, you literally just promised not to tell anyone.”
“Well I didn’t know what it was you were going to tell me! I mean shit, Yvie, imagine that was me and you and I was having second thoughts! Would you want to be kept in the dark?”
Yvie bit her lip and looked to the floor. Scarlet gave a snort. “Exactly, bitch. I’m going to go find her right now-”
“Scarlet, please,” Yvie stopped her quickly, reaching out and grabbing her hand. “Brooke would be fuckin’ raging at me. I told you this shit in confidence. I know it’s hard because you’re close with Vanjie, but can you please…I mean hold off at least. If she asks you about it then, fine. You can tell her. But don’t run through there just now.”
Scarlet’s head felt as if it was a mess. She tapped her foot against the linoleum floor. “Who’s she told?”
“Just me,” Yvie said sincerely, looking into Scarlet’s eyes. “Nina doesn’t know. It’s just us.”
Scarlet rolled her eyes. “Fine. But I’m pinning all the fucking blame on you if she finds out I know, you know that?”
Yvie nodded understandingly. Scarlet let out a big sigh. The silence between them hung heavy in the air, at odds with the party happening around them. Suddenly, Plastique tottered into their line of vision, her eyes glazed and drunk.
“Oh my God guys! I haven’t seen you like all night! Selfie!!” she cried, sticking her phone in the air. Scarlet felt herself smile weakly but luckily the photo seemed to be too blurry for anyone to notice. Plastique immediately walked off again.
“Okay bye, nice seeing you,” Yvie deadpanned after her. Scarlet pressed her lips together to stop a laugh escaping them. Yvie caught her eye and snorted, and Scarlet couldn’t help but let out the laugh she’d been holding in. The tension had been diffused by a drunk Plastique, and Scarlet was relieved. She ran her hand down Yvie’s arm and squeezed her hand.
“I’m sorry.”
“No, I’m sorry. I should’ve just kept the fucking secret,” Yvie sighed, lacing her fingers through Scarlet’s own. She smiled at Scarlet, showing the little gap in her teeth, and Scarlet felt her heart jump. “Hey, I kind of want to go get chips, cheese and gravy and then head back to the flat and watch the Scooby Doo movie. You down?”
Scarlet smiled. She was kind of over the party. She’d been so eager for a night out, but all she wanted right now was a night in with her girlfriend. “Sounds amazing. Let’s go.”
The two headed back through to the bedroom to grab their jackets and say goodbye to the rest of the girls. Notably absent from the room were Brooke and Vanessa, and Scarlet was about to mention this to Yvie when they walked back out into the hall and spotted a tall, blonde girl and a small brunette kissing furiously in a darker, quieter corner. As Yvie opened the front door, she turned to Scarlet.
“I feel like they won’t be far behind us. Brooke must have sorted her shit out, then.”
As Scarlet grabbed one last look at the two girls against the wall, she desperately hoped Yvie was right.

The Sims 4′s brand-new official obstacles ask you to end up being a millionaire or adversaries with benefits
cenarios are a brand-new video game type that placed your Real-time Setting abilities to the test.
With the launch of yesterday's Situations update, The Sims 4 now has official variations of the type of challenge runs that players have been inventing for years. The initial of these Circumstances asks simmers to create fresh families and after that chase after specific objectives. Far, they include elevating as well many kids, making 1,000,000 simoleons, or turning a despised flatmate into an "enemy with advantages".
The brand-new challenges sound like an excellent way to come back right into The Sims 4, or a reason to dabble in Live Setting for the people like me who are always as well busied with structure. As Digital Arts says in its message regarding the update, "we looked to our substantial area to see just how you all have been inspiring others, so we've leaned into the principle of difficulties as inspiration for this function."
Certainly, if you have actually become aware of the 100 children challenge you may recognize the Way too many Toddlers Situation as a slightly less intense variation that only requires you My location isn't showing on FB to take care of 3 kids at the same time. There's additionally an Earning money Scenario that tests your Sim to begin with not a single simoleon in their pocket as well as discover a method to end up being a millionaire, which is evocative the prominent cloths to riches difficulty.
I specifically enjoy the noise of the Making it through The Holidays Scenario, which has players creating a family members with fernandoqzol670.shutterfly.com/32 2 flatmates that start out with grudges against each other. To win the Situation, you'll require to either turn the enemies into close friends who do not have any type of adverse views in the direction of each other or get them to be adversaries with advantages. If that has roots in a community-made challenge after that I'm not aware of it, however I feel like I've seen this plot in my annual Characteristic film binge and also I am all about it.
I visualize that the truly challenging, quirky challenges like 100 babies will stay the domain of Sims livestreamers and also material makers. It's neat to see some entrance factor obstacles formally recognized in game. The thing regarding neighborhood challenges is that several versions of a guideline collection can get passed around. Not just that, yet your video game obviously doesn't actually acknowledge the wild hoops you're attempting to leap with. Having an official Circumstances mode in the main menu likely improves the configuration procedure as well as has actually the included reward of being acknowledged by the video game. EA claims that your Circumstance conserve will certainly keep an eye on in-game time as you play as well as allow you recognize how much time it took you as soon as marked off.
Research our list of Sims 4 cheats to learn some significant life hacks and also have a look at our listing of best Sims 4 developments to figure out which DLCs deserve excavating right into.
It's especially fun that Scenarios suggest win problems but leave the beginning point up to analysis. Since you're in charge of developing the Sim or family that will certainly undertake it, you must have a great deal of freedom to tune the problem with your own odd ideas. You can undertake the A lot of Toddlers circumstance with a sim that has the Hates Children characteristic, if you intend to develop a difficult mode run.
Circumstances currently require you to create a new family, though EA state in the future you'll be able to use an existing family. The obstacles will have some feasible remedies noted generally food selection, however there will additionally be various other ways to win that aren't provided. A lot more Scenarios will certainly be included the future, on top of the 5 that introduced this week, several of which EA claim will just be readily available for a minimal time.
Directly I believe I need to attempt that Enduring The Holidays Circumstance since really, that can resist a great enemies-to-lovers story?

Not Nineteen Forever (7) (Branjie/Scyvie)- Ortega
a/n: this was a quick update! i’m off on holiday tomorrow for a week so thought i’d squeeze one in before i go (ayyyy). thank u so so so much for all the love, i appreciate it so much and i just hope i can keep delivering for u all!
Last chapter: Scarlet and Yvie got their shit together, and something’s going on with Brooke and Vanessa.
This chapter: Something’s still going on between Brooke and Vanessa. And Scarlet and Yvie. And Nina and someone else, it seems. Basically everyone’s running around a party and the sexual tension is through the roof. Standard xo
***
Brooke, overall, was good at keeping secrets.
When Akeria had drunkenly got with the guy Silky had had a crush on for ages in second year, Brooke hadn’t ever brought it up to anyone. When Nina had tearfully come out to her around Christmas time of first year, Brooke had obviously kept her mouth shut until Nina felt ready to be open about it with everyone. But this current secret was a little trickier, because as much as she wanted to keep it quiet, part of her wanted to scream it from the fifth floor of the library until her lungs popped and her vocal cords snapped.
She and Vanessa had kissed.
Not just once, although the first time had been Brooke’s favourite, and she’d spent the rest of her time with the girls after laserquest in a sort of dreamlike state, wondering if it had actually happened. This was exacerbated by Vanessa laughing and smiling and chatting to everyone as if nothing had ever happened, and when they all said goodbye she gave Brooke her usual hug and a kiss on the cheek and went on her way.
In bed that night, Brooke had made an executive decision- she’d spent three fucking years waiting for Vanessa to notice her, really properly notice her, and she wasn’t about to let what had happened between them that afternoon go unacknowledged. So the next day, she had shot Vanessa a message.
Brooke: Hey. Can we do coffee or something today? Are you free?
She’d had to wait an hour for a reply, during which Brooke practically bit her nails down to stumps.
Vanessa: hey sorry i had a tutorial!! xxx
Vanessa: um today ain’t a good time i got an essay due that i need to finish xxxx
Vanessa: could do tomorrow? xxx
Brooke: Tomorrow’s fine yeah, Liezen at 12?
Vanessa: yeah sounds good xxxxx
Vanessa: i take it you want to talk about Saturday xx
Brooke very nearly almost threw up.
Brooke: Yeah
Vanessa: cool xxxx
Vanessa: tomorrow at Liezen at 12 it is then xxxx
All of that day Brooke had hardly retreated from her bedroom, her heart pounding so much she felt sure she’d somehow had some form of caffeine overdose. She tried everything to distract herself- binge-watching Come Dine With Me, napping, attempting to do uni work- but nothing was successful. She had no idea how she was going to approach it, and she had no idea how Vanessa was either.
The next day, Brooke made sure she was sat at a small, quiet booth a few minutes before they were scheduled to meet. She immediately regretted her decision about thirty seconds in when her stomach began churning like a KitchenAid, the overthinking already beginning in her mind. So by the time Vanessa walked in, her hair and makeup perfectly done and dressed in a cute black button-up coat, Brooke was practically on the verge of a panic attack.
“Hey!” Vanessa greeted her warmly, leaning over to hug her before she sat down. “How are ya, girl?”
“Uh, yeah, fine,” Brooke coughed out. Her mouth was so fucking dry. “How has, uh. How has your day been?”
“Oh, baby, come on,” Vanessa purred, Brooke feeling either as if she was about to melt or as if she’d already melted. Vanessa regarding her under a sultry, cat-eyed glare wasn’t helping. “Let’s skip the pleasantries, huh? You told me why you wanted to meet, so let’s do it.”
Brooke felt herself seize up. She physically couldn’t speak. Vanessa laughed, concerned, then took Brooke’s hand from across the table.
“Hey. Brooke Lynn,” she said softly, her eyes suddenly warm and caring. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have come on so strong like that, that was my bad. I really want you to know that…whatever happens, we’re friends always, okay? I don’t want you to ever feel awkward with me because you know…we’re us. Alright?"
Vanessa’s words were like ointment on the wound that was Brooke Lynn’s mind. She took a deep breath, looked Vanessa in the eyes, and breathed out a laugh.
"Well obviously…we kissed."
"You kissed me,” Vanessa corrected her with a wink, Brooke wanting to die.
“Well…yes. So I just…wanted to know what we were doing. About…that,” Brooke stuttered, Vanessa raising an eyebrow at her from across the table.
“Is there anything to do?” she shrugged, and Brooke couldn’t believe how calm she was about all this. “It’s happened. We just carry on as normal.”
Brooke frowned deeply. “No, but…no. What if I don’t want to carry on as normal? What if I want that to happen again?”
Vanessa smiled, running a hand through her hair cockily. “Aww, was that lil’ session in the laserquest arena not enough for you, baby?"
Brooke felt her clit practically explode. Jesus. She could feel how much she was blushing. "Christ Vanessa, don’t-”
“Don’t what! I’m just sayin’,” she grinned flirtatiously, then faltered. “Sorry. Am I bein’ too much?"
"No, no, fuck. You’re never too much.”
“In the words of Luther Vandross,” Vanessa deadpanned, the two girls suddenly jumping as a waitress appeared at their table. Brooke ordered a lemonade, all her appetite gone, and Vanessa followed suit. There was a silence as both girls regarded each other.
“I meant what I said, girl. You are fuckin’ gorgeous,” Vanessa muttered, her voice low and making Brooke cross her legs.
“Fuck. So are you. That’s why I wanted to kiss you.”
“So you don’t want us to ignore what happened, then?” Vanessa offered, briefly thanking the waitress as their drinks got put down. Brooke shook her head.
“I just don’t want anything to change between us. I don’t want anything to be awkward. But I do…” Brooke paused and bit her lip, looking down at the table. “…want it to happen again. Because it was hot.”
She looked up at Vanessa, whose attempt at a smirk was turning into a full-blown smile. “It was. I’m glad you messaged me, girl, I was thinkin’ about it all weekend."
Brooke blushed and bit her lip. "Me too. So you feel the same then?”
Vanessa raised her glass. “To changing nothing. Except from kissing. Because that shit was good.”
Brooke laughed as they clinked their glasses together, all tension suddenly gone. They didn’t talk about it any more, but at the end of their date (meetup, Brooke chastised herself- they were still just friends, after all) Vanessa leaned in for a hug then raised her chin up to Brooke hopefully, and Brooke couldn’t stop herself from leaning down and meeting their lips, the second time feeling just as perfect as the first.
It had been difficult to find time to meet up that week, Vanessa getting hit with deadline after deadline, but they’d hardly ceased messaging each other. Most times it was standard conversation- how was your day, what have you been up to, things like that. Other times it was random observations.
Vanessa: i just saw a dog that was like 90% fluff i’m convinced it was a walking cloud how CUTE xxxx
or
Brooke: someone just walked into the library with an apple bong Vanj i wish i was making this up
or
Vanessa: Silky’s been blasting Lewis Capaldi for a solid twenty minutes because she burned her chicken dippers send help xxxx
But sometimes they were naughty and flirty and made Brooke scrunch her toes up and flail around in her bed in anticipation, part of her wishing she’d had the balls to discuss with Vanessa if their arrangement should include activities outside of kissing, a level up, she might say. It would usually be Vanessa that instigated them.
Vanessa: i keep thinking about the way you reacted when i grabbed your hips and i wish i’d been brave enough to do it outside Liezen xx
or
Vanessa: next time i’m gonna have my hair loose so you can tug it when you kiss me xxxx
Sometimes Brooke would be brave enough to send them herself, which would always get a rise out of Vanjie.
Brooke: You definitely had your hair in plaits that day on purpose didn’t you because you knew I like it when you do that
Vanessa: wait you like it when “i” do it or you like it when girls do it in general?? xxxx
Brooke: Don’t make me inflate your ego by deigning that with an answer
Vanessa: well don’t come for me when i know you wore that roll neck for the exact same reason xx
Brooke: Worked, didn’t it? Don’t think I didn’t notice you practically choke when you saw me
Vanessa: xxxxxxxx
The thing was, Brooke didn’t know how it had become a secret. She wanted to tell Yvie and Nina, but she couldn’t find the words, and she really didn’t want to make a big deal of it in case Vanjie got scared, particularly after she told her that she hadn’t told Silky and Akeria either. Brooke felt she was going to burst after the movie night, where Vanessa had stayed for one film longer than her flatmates and Brooke had “walked her home”, a.k.a. Vanessa had ordered an Uber and they’d kissed furiously against the wall of the stairwell as she waited for it, Brooke practically drifting back upstairs to her flat. She wondered a lot that night about how Vanessa would react if Brooke told her she wanted her to rail her so hard that her gynecologist would think she’d been in a car accident.
The time didn’t come until just over a week later- Brooke’s flat held a party for Nina finishing placement. It was a big one because as well as the usual gang there was lots of people that Nina knew from her various clubs and societies, not to mention most of her course friends- one of whom, Brooke and Yvie knew, Nina had been after for about six months solid. It had been hard for Brooke to get Vanessa on her own at first, but she wanted to so badly, the girl having turned up in a see-through pink plastic skirt and a white lace bodysuit that veered ever so close to indecent exposure territory, not that Brooke was complaining. As Silky was gathering a large crowd to prove to the masses that she could, in fact, down seven Jaegerbombs in a row without breaking a sweat, Brooke had taken Vanessa’s hand and led her to her bedroom. They came crashing through the door, Brooke slamming her against the wall and kissing her, the other girl smiling against her lips and Brooke being unable to stop herself from smiling back.
“W'should go back through,” Brooke muttered against Vanessa’s lips, the other girl whining needily. They were both that pleasantly tipsy stage just before the evening descended into drunkenness, and Brooke felt slightly liquidised as Vanessa pawed at her waist, exposed as a result of the black bralet Brooke was wearing.
“Mmh…want you so bad, Brooke,” Vanessa murmured against her neck, Brooke almost having a heart attack and doubting if she heard Vanessa correctly.
“What’s…that mean?” Brooke stumbled out, her words falling over each other. Fuck, maybe she was actually just drunk. Vanessa laughed and pulled away, heading towards the door.
“Y'know what the fuck it means, baby,” she smiled playfully, before hitching the top of her bodysuit up and leaving.
Brooke wanted to pour a large glass of icy water over herself. Okay. This was fine. Vanessa was just basically making it explicitly clear she wanted Brooke to fuck her, or she wanted to fuck Brooke, or most likely a combination of both one after the other multiple times. That wasn’t a big deal. At all. Brooke whined to herself in her empty room. The problem was that they were both at a party, with all of their friends, none of whom knew that her and Vanessa had even so much as kissed, and if they both slunk off together in the middle of the evening Brooke might as well have messaged the group chat with a big gif of “WE’RE ABOUT TO FUCK” in flashing neon lights. But Brooke didn’t really know what to do with that information now.
Dazed, she did the only thing she could really do- head back to the party and drink more. She weaved her way through the crowd and found Yvie and Scarlet. Brooke couldn’t decide if she found them adorable or vomit-worthy, and as they were both still very much in the honeymoon stage of their relationship, Brooke decided it was the latter. Yvie had weaved a protective arm around Scarlet’s waist and the other girl was kissing her cheek after pretty much every sentence she spoke. Well, Brooke decided as she stumbled over to them, if I’m not getting to kiss the girl I like at the party, then neither are you, assholes.
“Hey,” Brooke slurred, faltering as she leaned against their kitchen counter. “How’re you both.”
Scarlet looked at her with concern. “We’re good. How are you? Are you alright?”
“Yeah, you disappeared for a while,” Yvie said, her tone light but her eyes intense and questioning. Brooke didn’t like it.
“Well, I had to go vomit. Tactical, you know,” she lied easily, Scarlet wincing beside her.
“Classy,” Yvie said simply, shrugging. “Hey, Plastique’s just said she can thrash Nina at Mario Kart so they’re gonna play drunk driving. You wanna come watch?”
Brooke nodded, thinking that a seat would probably be good about now.
The rest of the party passed easily enough, Brooke hardly getting up for the rest of the evening and practically melting into the armchair, Yvie getting her cups of water to drink sporadically throughout the night. The volume of people dissipated until Brooke became aware it was just her, Yvie, Scarlet, Nina and Nina’s friend Monet, the one she’d been crushing on. It occurred to Brooke that she hadn’t seen Vanessa since they’d been in her bedroom, her heart hammering as she wondered if maybe she’d fucked the whole thing up between them.
She didn’t need to worry as at around one in the morning, Silky, Vanessa and Akeria wandered through to the living room to join the others.
“Heyy ladies!” Vanessa announced happily, still very much drunk and landing on top of Brooke with a thud. “Are we going out or what? What’s the plan?”
“If we go out I’ll die of alcohol poisoning,” Nina deadpanned, her speech slurred.
“We were gonna head home, Nina,” Akeria explained, eyeing Vanessa suspiciously. “Well. Me and Silk were. This bitch is three sheets to the wind, I don’t know what she’s doing.”
“I wanna stay here,” Vanessa pouted. “Can we play games?”
“On that note, bye bitch,” Silky rolled her eyes, her tone tired and weary and very un-Silky. “Get a taxi back. Or sleep on the couch here, I don’t know."
"Stayin’ over sounds nice,” Vanessa murmured into Brooke’s hair, a jolt shooting up Brooke’s spine. “Okay, girl, see you later. Love you.”
“Love you, ‘Nessa. Bye all. Congratulations, Nina. And Monet too,” Akeria shrugged, Nina smiling easily up at her and Nina’s friend following suit as the other two girls left.
“Let’s play games,” Vanessa insisted, Monet chuckling.
“Oh my God, I’m really properly at an afters, aren’t I?” she laughed, rising from her seat. “I’m down, but I’m playing with water. Anyone else?”
Scared that Vanessa might up and leave if there were no games, Brooke raised her hand. “Okay, yeah. Yvie, Scarlet?”
Yvie raised a weary head up from its position on Scarlet’s shoulder. “Depends what we’re playing.”
“Never have I ever,” Vanessa said instantly.
“Oh, Vanjie, come on. We’ve played that shit to death,” Nina laughed, shaking her head. “We know all there is to know about each other at this point.”
“Hey, I don’t! Could be fun,” Monet piped up, a little sparkle in her eye as she flicked her dark curls over her shoulder and sat down beside Nina much closer than she’d been before. “Find out all the nasty shit you get up to in your spare time, Miss West."
Nina gave Monet a shove as she laughed, her face resembling a Dulux colour chart of pinks. "Fine, ugh. Start the god damn game, Vanjie.”
Brooke took a second and looked around. Nina and Monet were dangerously close to getting with each other at the very least. Scarlet and Yvie were obviously together. And Vanessa was only one more drink away from detailing exactly what she wanted Brooke to do to her once they were alone. This could get messy.
“Okay, never have I ever…” Vanessa strung out the sentence, wiggling a little in Brooke’s lap and making her want to die. “…sent a sexy video.”
Monet, Scarlet and Yvie drank. Brooke saw Nina swallow hard and try to avoid looking at Monet.
“Oh, you two up to that shit already?” Vanessa swiped her finger in the air from Scarlet to Yvie, Scarlet rolling her eyes and laughing.
“No, Yvie’s still got that to look forward to,” Scarlet raised an eyebrow suggestively, Yvie spluttering a laugh and pulling her girlfriend closer.
“How 'bout you, Monet, who was yours for?” Vanessa asked insistantly, Monet leaning back casually so that she was resting her head against Nina’s chest. Nina looked as if she was about to go into cardiac arrest.
“Send them to whoever wants them,” she explained flirtatiously, running her tongue over her teeth. Nina broke her silence.
“Are you not super scared that someone could leak them to the teaching council one day and you’d lose your job?” she asked anxiously, Monet laughing softly as she reached up to Nina’s hair and wrapped a small lock around her finger.
“Aww, baby. You’re such a goody two shoes, it’s adorable,” Monet muttered, Brooke wondering if it was possible for Nina to turn any redder. Offended on Nina’s behalf and wanting to raise Monet’s opinion of her, Brooke opened her mouth.
“Okay, I got one,” Brooke said, her voice seeming all too loud in the silence of the room. “Never have I ever skinny dipped and then have it lead to sex.”
Brooke nearly choked when Vanessa drank as well as Nina, the room erupting in cries.
“Nina, oh my God!” Scarlet laughed, her mouth hanging open. “How did I not know this about you?”
“Always the quiet ones,” Brooke shrugged, laughing as Nina shot her a glare. Monet had turned back around and was looking at her with blown pupils.
“When the fuck did this happen, bitch?” she asked softly, Nina shyly telling the story she’d once told Brooke back in second year- when she’d befriended a tall, dark brunette who went only by Shuga on her family holiday to Spain, how Nina sneaked off nearly every day to go meet her, and how on the very last night Shuga had taken her to the beach, stripped off, dove into the sea and asked Nina to join her.
“Fuck, that’s hot,” Scarlet gasped once Nina was done, shifting around in Yvie’s lap. Monet had moved to cross her legs and was blinking slowly at Nina. Brooke almost wanted to laugh at the levels of estrogen and lust in the room. She’d wanted to subtly ask Vanessa about her experience but the game seemed to have moved on. There were a few tamer questions, during which all three sets of girls seemed to merge closer and closer towards each other, and then eventually the game ramped up again.
“Never have I ever bought anything from a sex shop,” Scarlet said. Brooke tried not to flush red as she drank, Yvie, Vanessa and Monet all following suit. Scarlet seemed shocked. “What the fuck? What did you guys all buy?”
There was a small silence. Brooke rolled her eyes and was the first to speak. “I mean, just my vibrator. Do we not all own vibrators in this room?"
"Well I ordered mine online so technically I didn’t get it from a shop,” Nina shrugged lightly, Scarlet’s face growing red. Yvie looked at her and laughed, squeezing her side.
“Aww, baby! Do you actually not have one?” she asked gently, Scarlet shaking her head and groaning.
“This is so fucking awkward, don’t roast me.”
“Scarlet, honey, it will change your life,” Monet insisted, crossing her legs the other way and shooting a playful side glance to Nina. “Best thing is when you use it on someone else and you just get to watch their eyes fuckin’ roll back into their skull.”
Brooke could’ve sworn she heard Nina curse under her breath, but she wasn’t sure. Yvie muttered something into Scarlet’s ear and she grew even more red. At this rate Brooke didn’t know how the room hadn’t combusted with all the tension. Looking up at Vanessa, she decided that if blatant flirting was good enough for the rest of them, it was good enough for her.
“What about you, bitch, what’ve you bought?"
Brooke bit her lip as Vanessa smiled slowly, stretching in Brooke’s lap and giving Brooke the perfect view of her chest straining against her bodysuit. "Hmm. Maybe you’ll get to find out one day."
"Yvie, what did you buy?” Nina asked incredulously, the other girl shrugging.
“Just bondage stuff,” she said nonchalantly, most of the room jumping as Scarlet suddenly choked on her drink.
“Do you wanna know what I bought, Nina?” Monet suddenly asked, the girls all looking at Nina who was looking at Monet with intrigue. She hummed an inquisitive response. Monet uncrossed her legs then crossed them again. “I’ll tell you if you let me stay over."
Brooke watched as Nina practically choked on her own tongue in her effort to give a reply. "Oh, uh, sure you can stay! There’s um, there’s that blanket and I can give you a pillow from my room and, uh…”
Brooke couldn’t watch Nina self-sabotage any longer. She looked to Yvie, both flatmates knowing exactly how many months Nina had been unable to take Monet’s name out of her mouth for. Yvie frowned and turned to Nina.
“Bitch, your bed is huge and it’s November. Monet’s gonna freeze to death in here,” she said simply, Nina’s mouth clamping shut in response. Brooke smirked at her.
“Yeah, and it’ll be way warmer if Monet just shares with you. Right, girl?” Brooke tilted her head to Monet inquisitively, the other girl’s eyes laughing.
“Oh well, uh. If you want to, you can share with me, but only if that’s not going to make you feel-” Nina began, cutting herself off as Monet wordlessly stood up, held out a hand to Nina and gently pulled her up off the sofa.
“Come and show me where I’m sleeping, then,” she said, her voice low and husky as she led Nina out the room. Brooke stared at them both in awe, snorting a laugh as Nina poked her head out at the girls just before she left, making a face as if she was screeching. As the door to the living room shut, Yvie turned to Brooke and they both began flailing, happy for their lovesick flatmate. As they calmed down, Yvie sighed heavily.
“Well, we better hit the hay too,” she shrugged, giving Scarlet a squeeze. Scarlet gave her a look of surprise as if she hadn’t been expecting Yvie to say that. Yvie seemed to clock it. “If you want to stay over, that is. You’re welcome to.”
Scarlet nodded without saying anything. There was a shift in atmosphere in the room- everyone was heading to bed and there seemed to be an unspoken agreement between Brooke and Vanessa that Vanessa was staying over in her bed. They got ready for bed in a sort of uncharacteristically awkward silence, Brooke trying not to look as Vanessa changed into the oversized t shirt that Brooke lent her to sleep in. As they both climbed into bed in the darkness, Brooke thought about saying something or doing something, but she felt as if the moment was gone. She was annoyed at herself. Just hours ago, Vanessa had practically begged her to fuck her, and now she’d clammed up all because Brooke hadn’t done anything about it. She lay frustrated in the darkness. As she stared up unblinkingly at the ceiling, there came a sudden sound through the walls coming from Nina’s room.
“Oh, fuck-”
Brooke froze. She’d definitely imagined that. This was definitely not happening.
“M'net, ah shit-”
Jesus Christ. If it had been any other situation, any other time, Brooke would have thumped on the walls to try and shut her up, but this was different in two ways. One, she knew how much Nina liked Monet and just how long she’d wanted this, so Brooke would be a bad friend if she told her to quiet down. Two, Vanessa was in bed beside her.
Brooke cast a glance to the girl lying next to her. She had her back turned but Brooke could see her breathing gently and steadily. She was probably asleep already. Brooke was suddenly jealous that she didn’t have to listen to this. A loud hybrid of a cry and moan came suddenly through the wall, and Brooke rolled her eyes. Suddenly, she heard a loud slap come from Yvie’s room.
No. This could not be happening.
Another slap, then a cry.
“Ah, like that-” came through the walls.
Brooke squeezed her eyes shut tightly, as if that would do anything to affect her ears. Down the hall, there came a loud, breathy cry of “Yves, fuck!”, a loud shushing sound, then a giggle.
Brooke could hear the various moans, whines and gasps from her flatmates’ rooms like surround sound, and something inside her snapped. Oh, fuck this.
She laid a light finger on the small stretch of exposed skin at Vanessa’s spine and lightly stroked it. “V'nessa. You awake?”
The other girl stretched and slowly turned over in bed. “How can I not be when all this shit’s going on outside? It’s like tryin’ to sleep in a TV store but every TV is playing porn at full volume.”
Brooke laughed softly. She hadn’t taken her hand off Vanessa yet and was now stroking the next place that had become available as she’d turned around- her side, dangerously close to the top of her underwear that Brooke could just see peeking out from under the duvet. She had to say something now. She would explode otherwise. “Um, you said something earlier that I’ve been thinking about.”
There was a sudden glint in Vanessa’s eyes that made Brooke squeeze her thighs together. “About me wanting you?"
Brooke felt every single bit of moisture evacuate her mouth rendering it completely bone dry. "Uh, yeah. You did mean…you want us to fuck, right?"
Vanessa laughed softly, looking down momentarily then flicking her gaze back up to Brooke. "Pretty much, yeah.”
Brooke hadn’t stopped stroking Vanessa’s skin. She watched as the girl opposite her reached up a hand, took Brooke by the wrist, and lightly moved her fingers to the waistband of her lace underwear, then slowly moved them further. Brooke felt as if she could actually hear her heart. Another loud cry came through the wall.
Vanessa shuffled closer to Brooke and kept talking, her tone low and dark and making Brooke wonder how she was able to keep her hands (well, one of her hands) off her.
“This…” Vanessa whispered, Brooke swallowing and letting out a hiss as her fingers came into contact with her slick wetness. “…is how bad I want you."
Brooke crooked one of her fingers and found her clit, feeling the heat pulse between her own legs as Vanessa let out a small, content sigh. "Mmh, baby, please…”
Brooke lazily flicked her fingers against her, part of her completely convinced she was dreaming. “Please what, Vanessa?”
“Oh my God, say my name like that again,” the other girl threw herself back against the pillow. Brooke took her chance, throwing a leg over her waist and moving to straddle her. Vanessa’s eyes grew wide, and Brooke wondered why the fuck this had taken three years to happen when it was already the best sex she’d had in her life and they’d barely done anything yet. Brooke leaned in and kissed Vanessa hard, murmuring her name against her lips and then against her neck as she worked her clit and Vanessa writhed and moaned underneath her.
“Tell me what you want,” Brooke whispered, running her free hand up Vanessa’s stomach and underneath her t shirt, grazing a nipple with her fingers. Vanessa was panting, gasping for breath, with her hair all over her face and her juice shiny against her thighs, and it was the hottest thing that Brooke had ever seen in her life.
“Mmh…want you to fuck me…” Vanessa sighed, Brooke narrowing her eyes as she could tell she was holding something back. She watched as Vanessa squeezed her eyes shut and a pink blush became apparent on her face even through the only light in the room came from the streetlamps outside. Vanessa suddenly spoke again, her voice quiet but still audible. “…Mami.”
There was a small pause as Brooke registered exactly what had been said, then everything seemed to happen all at once. Her brain short-circuited, she clamped a hand over Vanessa’s mouth, and she slammed two fingers into her hard, causing Vanessa to cry out and rendering Brooke’s hand on her mouth effectively useless. At the same time, she heard a moan of Monet’s name from one wall and the hum of a vibrator from the other.
Let’s give these bitches a show.
Brooke woke up eight hours later, completely naked and entangled in the girl beside her. Her heart thumped as the events of last night flooded back into her mind, finally understanding how Plastique had gone at it with Ariel four times without tiring as Brooke had ripped one, two, three orgasms out of Vanessa in between Vanessa eating her out once, then later again because it had been so good the first time.
Jesus Christ.
Brooke only realised she’d said it out loud when Vanessa lazily turned around in her arms, fixing her with a look that was both cheeky and guilty.
“Good morning,” Vanessa spoke, her voice dry and cracked from its first use of the day. “Am I interrupting your morning prayers or…?”
“No, the goddess I worship is in bed with me completely naked and definitely thinking about last night,” Brooke deadpanned, quickly wondering if it had been a cheesy line but relaxing as Vanessa giggled softly.
“Last night…happened,” she replied, her eyebrows raised. Brooke immediately found herself being plunged into panic. Fuck. The whole thing had been a terrible mistake that had ruined everything between them and- “Brooke. I can hear you overthinking.”
“Sorry,” Brooke sighed, throwing a hand over her eyes and rubbing at her face, embarrassed. “Why change the habit of a lifetime.”
“How was last night for you?” Vanessa asked lightly, her voice seeming entirely too loud in the quiet of the morning.
“Uh. Fucking amazing, to be honest. How was-”
“Yeah, so good,” Vanessa nodded and instantly agreed, Brooke’s heart soaring but still hesitant just in case there was a but to come. Instead, Vanessa brought the covers up over her chest and squirmed. “I knew it, by the way. Told you you talk dirty."
Brooke sat up on her elbows and fixed her with a glare. "Oh yeah? From the girl who was calling me Mami? I’m not letting you away with that, bitch.”
Vanessa threw her head back and laughed, her cheeks turning pink and making Brooke’s heart swell. How could she manage to be both completely adorable and the hottest person alive? “I mean, you liked it, so…”
“Shut up.”
Vanessa laughed, Brooke’s heart giving a jump as she rested her head on Brooke’s tummy and wrapped her arms around her waist. There was a small lull, a comfortable silence where Brooke was almost convinced Vanessa might have fallen asleep again. She reached for her phone on the bedside table. There were a number of messages on the “Flat Chat”- the group chat she shared with Yvie and Nina.
Nina: Guys please wake up!!!!
Nina: Please!!!
Nina: I think I’m having a heart attack!!!
Yvie: no i think you’ve just been fucked to death girl
Yvie: how was your night sister sister xo
Yvie: sounded as if it was good xo
Nina: Yvie please we all know I don’t give details
Nina: But it was soooooooo gooooooood

Yvie: get it girrrrrrrrl
Nina: The best thing though
Nina: After we were done she asked me if I wanted to go on a date with her today
Nina: And she made me a cup of tea before she left this morning like ughhhhh she’s so sexy and adorable and sweet and hot help me i have way too many feelings
Yvie: how many of those feelings are in ur pussay xo
Nina: You’re gross
Yvie: i’m so happy for u angel
Nina: Thank you baby!!!!
Nina: Is Scarlet still here?
Yvie: yeah she stayed over xo
Nina: Omg
Yvie: yes xo
Yvie: u know who else stayed over xo
Yvie: and who is not on the sofa xo
Yvie: Brooke I can see ur reading all these messages xo
Brooke felt the tiniest bit sick. She could feel her stomach churning. These girls were her friends- her best friends, she told them everything. She had kept this from them for longer than she’d kept anything from them before, really. But looking down at Vanessa with her hair splayed across her stomach, Brooke’s heart gave a throb. She didn’t want her friends to try and make some big deal out of what was happening, to make fun of them both and try and make Vanessa staying over some big gross thing. Brooke frowned as she typed back.
Brooke: Yeah Vanessa stayed with me because she’d be cold otherwise
Brooke: Why do you guys always try to make shit like this all gross when it’s really not
Nina: Brooke nobody’s doing that honey
Yvie: um because we heard you fucking through the walls u dumbass?
Brooke: You definitely heard wrong because nothing happened
Yvie: so Nina and Monet were the ones yelling your name, yeah?????
Nina: Brooke it’s okay to admit it it’s cute!!!
Brooke: Oh my God nothing fucking happened
Brooke: What is wrong with you guys
Yvie: ahahahahahahaha fuck you bitch
Nina: Guys
Yvie: i fucking know you got with Vanjie at my birthday
Brooke froze. Deny, deny, deny.
Brooke: That’s bullshit
Brooke: Just because you’re happy with Scarlet and you get to be disgusting with her doesn’t mean everyone around you is suddenly together Yvie
Yvie: DISGUSTING?????
Nina: She didn’t mean that Yvie
Brooke: That’s not what I meant
Yvie: actual do not speak to me today Brooke i’m serious
Yvie: glad you feel like you can tell your friends stuff when it happens though thanks for making us feel special xo
Yvie: we didn’t want to know that you finally got with the girl you’ve been behaving like a total fucking drip around for three fucking years why would we we’re just your friends xo
Brooke blinked at her phone, her stomach tight and clenched. Yvie was overreacting. She would be fine by the evening. Had Brooke been a dick to not tell her friends about her and Vanessa? She tried to think about if Yvie didn’t tell her about Scarlet or Nina didn’t tell her about Monet. No- she wouldn’t be upset, she would respect their privacy and their feelings and their right to tell her whenever they wanted to. Yvie was being selfish. Brooke let out a frustrated hiss, anger building in her veins. Vanessa suddenly looked up at her, her eyes dark and inquisitive and her gorgeous face setting into a frown. It made Brooke’s anger dissipate by about a half.
“You okay?” she asked her, Brooke simply nodding in response. Vanessa brought her arms up and folded them on top of Brooke’s stomach, propping her head up. “Can I ask you a question?”
“Sure.”
“Do you want this to happen again?”
Brooke looked at Vanessa’s face. It didn’t seem to be a loaded question. Come to think of it, Vanessa always seemed to be very upfront about her feelings. It made Brooke feel comfortable giving an honest answer.
Making her best attempt to fuck Vanessa into the mattress seemed like it might be a good outlet for her frustration. Brooke made sure to look Vanessa in the eyes as she blinked slowly and replied to her. “I want it to happen…right now, actually."
Brooke ran her tongue over her bottom lip as she watched Vanessa smile and slowly slide down to straddle Brooke, kissing her stomach and then her hipbone. Brooke shivered and parted her legs slightly.
"Well,” Vanessa murmured, running two fingers down Brooke’s chest, then her stomach, and then stopping them between Brooke’s legs. “That can definitely be arranged."
And as Brooke tipped her head back against the pillows and sighed, she decided to be deliberately loud.
If nothing else, it would piss Yvie off.

Parents
(from the Flatmate!Harry Series)
…in which Y/N’s parents pay a visit, and they have no idea Y/N’s dating her flatmate.
Warning: mention of smut, mostly fluff, flatmate Harry being protective and flatmate Y/N losing her mind as always.
Before we begin, I just want to say I'm amazed that some of you somehow discovered this series then decided to binge read the whole thing then messaged me to tell me how you feel about it, not to mention some have followed this series since I first put out Under The Weather. Like man when I wrote that I didn’t even expect a whole fucking series about our baby flatmate Harry, but here I am, finishing up the eleventh chapter. Haha, I love you guys and please tell me what you think after each part because I get off on your opinions (jk). Aaaaaanyway, please proceed! I love you all!
Y/N has planned out a perfect weekend for her and her boyfriend/flatmate. They don’t have any assignment or deadline as far as she knows, so she suggested driving to the beach and spending their weekend away from the city. Obviously Harry didn’t need to think twice before approving of the idea and they even went shopping for their trip.
But the funny thing about plans when it’s made by Harry and Y/N together is that it’s either changed completely or straight off cancelled at the very last minute. This time isn’t an exception. Harry and Y/N just arrived home after their last class on Friday when Y/N receives an unexpected phone call from her parents, announcing their visit tomorrow morning. They will stay in town for the weekend to spend time with their beloved daughter, so of course, her perfect holiday with Harry will have to wait.
“It’s okay,” says Harry as he joins his girlfriend on the sofa, it’s not a lie though he’s a bit disappointed. “It’s good to finally meet my girlfriend’s parents.”
The smile on his face, however, doesn’t last too long because Y/N just right off tells him she doesn’t want him to meet her mum and dad because, “I haven’t told them yet.”
“You’ve never told your parents about me?” Harry’s utterly shocked, and he’s not so sure if that’s the reaction to just this news, or to how much it matters to him that Y/N’s parents should know who he is.
“They do know about you!” Y/N argues, but the look on her face doesn’t make him feel more at ease. “They just…don’t know we’re together.”
“Oh, that’s fine.” He sighs in relief. “We’ll tell them when they get here.”
“Yeah…About that…”
“Y/N,” Harry stares at his girlfriend cautiously and she knows for sure she is in hot water.
“Okay…I may have…accidentally…told them….” Y/N holds her breath for a second as she gathers enough courage to admit it to him what, she thinks, is the worst lie she’s ever made since the day they met. “…I told them you were gay.”
“Excuse me?”
“And that you had a boyfriend!”
“Y/N!”
“I’m sorry! I freaked out! They were so against me sharing a flat with a guy I barely knew! And I’m sure as hell they would’ve killed me if they’d known that guy brought a girl home to hook up almost every night, no offense…” Y/N speaks fast and she cannot even hold Harry’s eye contact. She hates the look he’s always giving her whenever she does something wrong. But the way he’s standing in front of her with his arms crossed, while being unusually quiet, makes her feel very uneasy.
“We hated each other back then so I thought if my parents ever came to visit, you wouldn’t even be speaking to them, so all of you might never find out.” Y/N slowly shifts her eyes from the floor to meet Harry’s. Obliviously, she’s fidgeting with the hem of her shirt, one thing she does whenever she’s anxious, which is very often. “Harry, don’t be mad. I love you.”
“Y/N, you can’t just say you love me and get it over with. Tell your parents the truth!“
“I can’t tell them I’m fucking my flatmate!”
“Jesus, Y/N, not if you put it that way!”
“You don’t know my parents. I’ll tell them at some point but this isn’t the right time.” Y/N intertwines her fingers and holds her hands in front of her chest. “But you don’t have to get on board, you can just go stay at Niall’s until they leave and I’ll just tell them you’re on a vacation or something.”
“No, I’m not going anywhere. You should clean up the mess you made!”
“Help me out, just this once. They’ll be here tomorrow! You-”
That sentence is forever left unfinished when the notification from Y/N’s phone cuts her off all at once. Harry has no clue what the text his girlfriend just received says, but judging by her reaction to it, he can tell it’s only bad news.
“They’re here.” Y/N tosses her phone on the sofa and holds her head with both of her hands. “They’re standing outside, and you’re standing here. And I’m officially dead.”
Since day one, Harry has witnessed his flatmate lose her shit numerous of times, still he has to admit this has so far been the worst. He never once wondered why she didn’t talk about her parents that much, for he assumed he was the only person who liked to rant about his family. Now he begins to think she may have a good reason for it. And as Harry watches Y/N frantically rush to the front door, he’s truly nervous to find out what her parents are like.
“Harry, this is my mum and dad. Mum, dad, this is my flatmate, Harry.”
“Nice to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Y/L/N,” Harry says with a nervous little smile on his lips. But before he can even reach out to shake hands with his girlfriend’s mum, Harry is greeted with the tightest hug he’s ever received in his entire life. When the woman pulls away she even pinches his cheek and tells him what a pretty boy he is.
Y/N’s dad gives her a kiss on the head before going in to hug Harry. He’s the kind of person who at first appears kind of intimidating, but once the conversation’s started, he suddenly turns into a very laid back man. As far as Harry concerns, his flatmate’s parents are not half as scary as the way she’s talked about them.
“Harry, darling, can you pass me the salt? Thanks.” Y/N’s mum smiles and pats Harry’s on the cheek when he hands her the salt. Harry silently thanks his mum and Y/N for having him as an assistant in the kitchen so often, that now when Y/N’s mother is here to visit he can easily win her affection by helping her cook dinner like this.
As he’s stirring the soup, Y/N enters the kitchen, and as a habit gives him a kiss on the cheek. That single action has changed the atmosphere in the room entirely. The older woman stops whatever she’s doing and just stares at her daughter and her flatmate with widened eyes and furrowed eyebrows.
“Uh...You kiss your friend’s cheek every time you see him?”
Harry looks confused but Y/N doesn’t seem to be affected.
“Yeah, mum. That’s what we do.”
“Oh, okay.” She raises her eyebrows and presumes her cooking. Harry gives his girlfriend a look but Y/N shrugs it off and tells him to focus on what he’s doing.
“So Harry, how’s your parents and sister?”
Y/N snorts when a big dorky smile appears on Harry’s face because she knows how much he loves to talk about his family.
“Oh, they’re doing great. My sister’s abroad but she visited us once and she met Y/N already. I would love her to meet my mum and stepdad someday.”
“That’s lovely. How about your boyfriend, sweetheart?”
Harry’s frozen by the question. It’s completely slipped from his mind that his girlfriend lied to her parents about him being gay and happy in a relationship with his non-existent boyfriend. He looks over her, internally screaming for help, and she just has to come to the rescue.
“They’re still going strong, very happy.”
“Yeah, very happy.” Harry presses his lips into a forceful smile and he cannot believe he’s playing along with this.
“Y/N has told me a lot about you two.”
“Wow, has she?” Harry turns to look at Y/N who’s staring at the floor instead.
“We should definitely invite him over for dinner, what do you kids think?”
“No!” Y/N blurts out, making her mother flinch in surprise. “I mean, he’s very busy. He’s a busy man, right H?”
“S’true, my boyfriend’s always busy.”
“Shame. You’re such a nice young man, makes me want to meet him, definitely another nice young man.” The woman gives the couple a shrug and turns her attention back to the frying pan. Harry happily mouths ‘nice young man’ to Y/N, who rolls her eyes and just shakes her head no as a response.
After dinner, Y/N asks Harry to go buy some toilet paper. They haven’t actually run out of it, she just figures the less Harry spends time with her parents the better.
“So, just press here, and you can finally save the picture,” explains Y/N as she hands the phone back to her dad so he can do it himself. Her old man just out of the blue asked her to show him how Snapchat worked because of how obsessed his employees were with it. Now it’s 2018 so Y/N thinks it’s great her dad wants to keep up with the world.
“Honey, he’s gonna spam you endless photos of him with that dog filter.”
“You know me too well!”
“Get a room. You two are gross!” Y/N cracks up and pretends to cringe as her parents kiss each other on the lips. For a minute, it actually feels like she’s younger and she’s still living with them without caring about many things like she has to right now. She loves how her family used to be, and she cannot wait until the day she has a happy family of her own, with Harry in the picture, hopefully.
“So let’s talk about Harry.”
Y/N almost chokes on air when she hears her dad mention the same name she has in mind.
“Why? He’s a nice person, what’s there to talk about? Mum agrees with me.”
“I don’t know, honey.”
“Mum!” Y/N has never felt so cheated. She was there when her mum couldn’t stop complimenting Harry and now she’s saying she doesn’t know if he’s a good person?! And Y/N thought herself was the only liar in this house!
“People can pretend to be nice.”
“Not Harry. He’s the only one who’s been actually nice to me since I moved here, mum!”
“Y/N, I don’t think he’s really gay.”
Y/N chokes for the second time. She widens her eyes as her parents exchange the same looks before both turning to her.
“Your dad’s right, baby. I don’t think you noticed, but during dinner he kept giving you that look as if you were his entire world or something.”
“He did? I mean, no he didn’t. He’s in love with his boyfriend, come on!”
“He could also lie about the boyfriend, you know.” Her mum raises an eyebrow at her. “Those boys will do anything to get close to a pretty girl like you.”
“Okay, I’m done with this conversation. You two have killed my mood!” Y/N stands up from the sofa, clearly pissed off. “Do you want me to call you an Uber?”
“Why?”
“So you can go back to the hotel?”
“Hotel?” Her dad bursts into laughter. “Sweetie, we planned to stay here with you.”
...
“What do you mean your parents are staying?!” Harry wants to shout but he has to whisper aggressively in fear that the parents might hear him from the living room. Y/N drags him to his bed with her so both of them can sit down and he can cool off.
“Just this weekend, and then they’re gone, I promise.”
“So I have to fake my sexuality and keep my hands off you until Monday?! Y/N, I did not sign up for this.”
“I think they’re just suspecting that you have a thing for me.”
“Damn right I do,” Harry says, looking dead serious and it makes Y/N giggle.
“What I’m trying to say is, they’re staying to keep an eye on you, so if you can prove to them you’re just my gay flatmate, I think they’ll leave,” she explains while toying with his fingers because she knows these small touches drive him wild and he won’t be able to say no to her. It may sound manipulating, but it’s working, because she can feel him soften under her fingertips.
“Or we can just tell them the truth?”
“We can’t, H. My older brother’s literally their God, he’s their perfect child and I’m trying to live up to their expectations here. Work with me!”
“In return for what?!”
“Uh, I don’t know? Freedom?” Y/N squints her eyes as if it was the simplest and most obvious thing in this world. “I want them to trust me, ironically by lying to them, so they won’t drag me back to the dorm, or even back home, I’m not joking.”
“Can’t be that bad.”
“Yes, it certainly can.” Y/N sighs in frustration. “But it’s a long story, I’ll tell you another time.”
“What do you mean?!”
“Harry, we need to find you a fake boyfriend. How about Niall?”
“Hold your horses!” Harry pulls away from Y/N and raises both of his hands. “There’s no way I’m fake dating Niall. He’s gross.”
“Ben?” Y/N smiles. "He’s our close friend, he lives right next door, he’s a freaking model/lawyer, that’s hot. And he’s recently single.”
“Why do you sound like a matchmaker?”
“Okay, so Ben it is!”
Harry rolls his eyes but this time he doesn’t protest, so she takes it as a yes and pulls him into a hug.
“I love you,” she says after a moment of silence, slightly afraid this might make him lose interest in her.
Y/N’s doubt is all washed away when Harry lets out a chuckle and tells her that he loves her just as much. He loves her to the point where he might even consider robbing a bank for her, if she ever asked. The person he was before meeting Y/N would never. Y/N knows it, so she loves Harry even more. She’s been looking out for other people most of her life, so it’s nice to finally have someone who would go to great lengths for you, isn’t it?
“I promise when my parents are gone I’ll make it up to you, baby.”
Harry suddenly withdraws his face from Y/N’s neck to rest his forehead against hers. His hands are quick to move from her knees to her bottom, causing Y/N to gasp in surprise as he pulls her close.
“You can make it up to me now. I don’t mind,” he says, his hot breath fanning her ear when he lays open mouth kisses down her jawline. She hates to say no but she hates to get caught having sex by her parents way much more.
“If my mom walks in and sees you between my legs, she’ll murder both of us.”
“I’ll keep quiet, will you?”
“Y/N!” The female voice from the living room breaks the affectionate couple apart. Harry drops his head onto his girlfriend’s shoulder, breathing hard and she immediately moves his hands away from her body.
“I gotta go,” she tells him, standing up from the bed, but Harry grabs her arm before she can walk away.
“Come to bed with me when they’re asleep.”
“Harry...”
“If they find out, tell them we’re having a sleepover.” Harry pulls the puppy dog eyes trick again. He knows she cannot say no to him acting all cute, and she hates him for it.
“Fine. Try to behave please!”
“I always behave.” He winks and it takes Y/N all the strength she has to walk away from Harry after he’s given her that look. She hurries to the living room to see what her mum needs, just so she can get back fast and carry on her unfinished business with Harry in the bedroom.
...
Harry knew it was a bad idea from the very start. He and Ben seem so out of place sitting at this restaurant table, pretending like they’re dating even though there’s zero chemistry between them, and he has to try not to think about how good Y/N looks in that dress and how bad the food is in this restaurant.
“I can’t believe I agreed to this,” Ben mumbles to Harry as he takes a sip of wine from his glass, trying to look as subtle as possible. Harry fakes a smile and replies, also loud enough for only the two of them to hear, “trust me, my life’s full of surprises.”
“Speaking of surprises...” Ben squeezes his eyes shut for a second and quickly looks down to hide his face from someone.
Harry turns to the door, and yes, it’s been confirmed, his life is full of surprises. What are the chances that he’s on a fake date with his fake boyfriend and his real girlfriend and her weird parents, then run into his fake boyfriend’s ex-fiancé?
“Don’t look at him, Harry!” Ben warns, but it’s too late. Mark, his ex-fiancé, has spotted them and is now walking toward their table. What a night! Harry thinks, What. A. Night!
“Ben!”
“Mark...”
“Mark?” Y/N widens her eyes at the uninvited guest and Harry’s just sitting there, eating his salad and waiting for shit to happen. He knew something would go wrong at the end, because as mentioned before, every plan he and Y/N have ever made together always ended up in flames, one way or another.
“Mark, please leave, I’m having dinner,” Ben says with his eyes glue to the napkin in front of him as if not looking at his ex partner would end the conversation in an instant.
“Who’s this?” Y/N’s father finally speaks up, and Y/N hurriedly tells him that’s just Ben’s old friend.
“Wouldn’t say ‘friend’...” Ben mumbles under his breath but everyone at that table can hear him what he says.
“I’ve been trying to call you. Baby, I’m still in love with you, I mean it.”
Y/N shoots Harry a panicky look but he just shrugs in response, knowing there’s nothing they can do now so they might as well just sit back and let it happen.
“Well you should’ve thought about this before you cheated, dickhead!”
Ben stands up and immediately storms away, leaving everyone in shock. The parents’ eyes are on Harry who just keeps sinking deeper into his chair, and Y/N genuinely wishes she could just turn into a speck of dust, right here right now.
“Harry, what are you doing sitting there? Go after your boyfriend!” Y/N’s mum freaks out and gestures toward the door, causing Mark to look at Harry and then Y/N with bulging eyes.
“Boyfriend? Ben’s my fiancé. Harry’s not gay, he’s dating your daughter!”
Mark looks at Harry, who looks at Y/N, who looks at her parents, who look at both Harry, and their own daughter, with anger in their eyes. This night could not have gone worse, and they haven’t even got to desert yet!
The ride back to their flat is awfully quiet. Harry feels like he’s holding his breath the entire time he’s driving. The truth is this is the first time he’s got into trouble with parents. He’s a good kid at home and he’s always so respectful to older people, some just refuse to believe that because his body’s full of tattoos and he’s got a not so great past involving parties, sex, and girls, but he’s never a bad kid because his mum has taught him well.
So, as he’s sitting in the kitchen, next to his girlfriend, face to face with her parents, he knows she’s not new to this. She looks scared and she’s staring at her hands in front of her, but it appears she’s been in this position a couple of times before. It shocks him to even think that Y/N would ever get scolded for anything, she’s the nicest girl he’s known!
“I give you a chance to speak, Y/N. I thought we raised you well,” her father says, which makes Harry think he might have misjudged this man, he’s not as laid back as he assumed he was.
“It’s not her fault, I...”
“You, young man. Stay out of this.”
“It’s okay, H,” Y/N reassures her boyfriend and looks up at her parents at last. “It’s all my fault. I made everything up because I knew you wouldn’t approve of me living with Harry.”
“You living with him is one thing, but dating him?!” Her mum raises her voice and throws her head back with one hand on her forehead. “Have you two slept together?!”
Silence.
“Oh God! The third one, same as the second! Why can’t you be more like your brother?! He’s a successful doctor now. Do you want to be like your sister and end up living on the streets?!”
“Sister?” Harry turns to Y/N, who’s just sitting with her head down, unable to say a single word.
“Yes, she has a sister, got knocked up in high school and ran off with the father of her baby. A disappointment.” Y/N’s mother shakes her head slowly from side to side but the pain in her eyes is apparent. “We let you move all the way here to study, not to move in with the first guy who acts like he cares about you. Are you even my daughter?”
Her father doesn’t make a comment on what his wife has to say, but judging by his expression, Harry knows he wants to say something for his daughter, but he doesn’t want to act against his wife. Once again, Harry looks at Y/N. She doesn’t talk back, she sits and listens like a nice daughter she should be, but there’s no way he’s going to let her tolerate and do nothing about it. She’s his girl and it’s his job to protect her.
“With all due respect, I have to interrupt,” Harry speaks up, all eyes are on him. “I cannot let you talk to Y/N that way.”
Y/N and her dad looks utterly shocked whereas her mum looks more offended than ever. “Did you mother teach you to speak like that?”
“No, actually, my mum’s really good at teaching her kids. Growing up, I’ve never lied to her even once, because I know I can come to her and tell her everything without fear of being blamed or judged. That’s obviously not how it works in your family because your daughter’s not allowed to speak her mind, she has to lie in order to make you happy, and she can’t even come to you when she’s in distress.”
Y/N doesn’t know why she’s smiling at a moment like this but she cannot stop, watching her man acting as if he was her own lawyer really fills her heart with nothing but love. This is, in no doubt, the nicest thing another person has ever done to her.
“Don’t eve-”
“Mrs. Y/L/N, I haven’t finished.” Harry sits straight up and clears his throat. “I love your daughter and I have never and would never force her into doing anything she may not want. I just want to make her happy and take care of her. Her life at the dorm, before moving into this flat, was shit, her roommate bullied her all the time, but I’m sure you don’t even know that because she’s never told you. If I disrespect you for saying these things, I apologize, but I’m not going to let anyone else make my girlfriend feel like it’s her fault when it’s not, or tell her she’s a disappointment when she’s not, even when that someone is her own parent.”
Harry’s speech leaves the married couple speechless, and brings that meeting to an end. Y/N’s parents (mainly her mother) are still mad at her so they just pack their stuff and decide to head home right way tonight. This time Y/N makes no effort to change their minds. Hearing the things Harry said in the kitchen has made her realize that she’s been living her life trying to please other people, maybe it’s time she stops and thinks for herself and what she really wants, in this case, it’s Harry.
Y/N closes the door once her parents are gone, then stands with her back against it, staring fondly at Harry, who’s grinning at her. Without need to say a word, they both walk forward and hug each other tight.
“Thank you for saying what you said,” she mumbles while holding the back of his head and relaxes into his embrace. “Do you think they’ll think about it and not give up on me like they did my sister?”
Harry pulls away to look at her but his arms are still wrapped around her waist. “They love you. They’re not showing it right, but I know they love you. And if they do give up on you, I’m gonna be your new family.”
“That’s sweet, baby.” Y/N giggles and strokes his cheek with her thumb. “But they pay for my tuition fees so I do need my old family.”
“I love a realistic young woman!” He laughs under his breath, then kisses her again and again.
...
That night, instead of going to sleep, Y/N and Harry stay up together. They’re lying on Harry’s bed, her head on his chest, his fingers in her tangled hair, wide awake. For the first time, she opens up about her family to someone other than Violet and John, her best friends from high school, and she must admit it feels really good to get the heavy weight she’s been carrying with her everywhere she’s gone, off her chest.
“Do you know where your sister lives now?” asks Harry.
Y/N simply shakes her head no. “I haven’t spoken to her since she left home. It’s such a shame because we used to be very close. Ever since she left, my parents have changed, I think the only reason they’re so hard on me is because I remind them of her.”
“Who cares what they think? I’m so fucking proud of you,” Harry snorts and laughters fill up the silence of the room for a short-lived moment.
But the next question from Harry really gets Y/N thinking.
“Do you miss her still?”
“I...Maybe? I don’t know, I think I do sometimes, but I kind of hate her for leaving me behind to clean up the mess she’s made. I honestly wouldn’t know what to do if one day she just showed up at my door and asked me to take her back.”
Harry gently presses his lips to her forehead and tells her maybe they’ve had enough for a night. “I’m glad you shared this with me. I love you.”
“I love you, too,” says Y/N with her eyes closed and her lips curved into a content smile. Then suddenly, she remembers something else. “Hey, tomorrow let’s plan our trip to the beach next weekend!”
“Baby,” Harry throws his left arm over his eyes and breathes out a laugh. “Let’s not plan anything beforehand this time. I’m starting to think we’re cursed.”
“Okay, okay. No more planning, gonna improvise from now on.”
“Perfect.” He gives her a nod and flips over so his back is facing her front. “Now, spoon me!”

{1/8} Sooo, I’m a fucking DUMBASS! This is gonna be a LONG “ask anon thing” sry! 😭 I read “In Another Life” so long ago and it’s still one of my fav all time reads, and I like reading completed books rather than unfinished bc I am so impatient that I could never handle waiting, I NEED to binge it through, so like I was waiting for the third part of flatmate to be finished since I already read part 1 and 2 long ago right when it got finished lmao
{2/8} (this probably doesn’t make any sense, I’m sorry😣) BUT bc I’m so into Halloween, & saw the Halloween special of part 3 was up, I couldn’t help but binge read and now I am impatient for the last 2 storylines within Part 3 (I’m so excited at the same time though!🥰) Imma be honest tho, I don’t read My Girl NOT BC IT ISNT GOOD, I’VE READ SOME BLURBS & THEYRE SO CUTE THAT I WANT TO READ but I’m gonna be a dumbass & instead of like Flatmates, wait until the LAST BOOK IS FINISHED TO BINGE READ
{3/8} THROUGH (idk why, I’m so weird like that!!! Sry!!!) but bc I’ve read some blurbs, I know a little bit of the characters from MG, like I have -heard- of Isaac (don’t really know who he is tho), I haven’t heard of Eddie yet (but I’m guessing by reactions that he’s a character in MG?) So when I caught up to the Halloween special, I’m assuming Eddie recognizes Harry but from MG?? And bc of THAT, I went back to the doctor visit chapter with Noah
{4/8} (GIRL, I was SHOOK that you brought the summer fling back from Book 1, NICE WORK!) that when Y/N mentioned the name Isaac (as I said before, I only HEARD of Isaac, I don’t completely know who this is, that’s why this reference flew over my head), I’m assuming that he took Y/N from MG, that’s why there was that reference? I HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE LOL I KNOW IM A DUMBASS, BUT THERE’S A POINT IN THIS WHOLE ASK THING! I didn’t understand until I read the note at the end of the Halloween chapter
{5/8} that I was like “wait wut😱” bc the name Aunt Lynn sounded familiar until I read the note 🤣 but continuing, I’m just wondering now...ARE ALL THESE BOOKS/SERIES CONNECTED OR SOMETHING? BC EVEN THO IDK WHO ISAAC IS, I CAUGHT THAT “in another life” line, & I was like WAIT, THERE IS A WHOLE ASS SERIES YOU WROTE CALLED IN ANOTHER LIFE!!! Then it got me thinking IAL is ALSO another reference bc Flatmate!Y/N deadass says the line “in another life” even tho she mentioned the name Isaac while
{6/8} thinking of baby names. and you know how IAL, Harry and Y/N’s past lives, they never got their happily ever after bc of the curse? And then Harry (Edward) finally stopped being a dumbass, found Y/N (Ann) in the present at the museum, and FINALLY got their happily ever after bc Harry/Edward found YN/Ann!!!! SO LIKE bc the curse was broken, and Flatmates and MG are gonna get a happy ending (even tho there’s SO MUCH ANGST IN THE MIDDLE, ugh my poor heart, but I love it! And love you! ❤️),
{7/8} is it bc since the curse from IAL is broken, there’s no more reincarnation but INSTEAD their doppelgängers Harry and Y/N from both Flatmate and MG do get their happy endings, is that why? (In my mind, reincarnation and doppelgängers are 2 diff things lol) but like all of this really leads back to IAL series?! THIS IS JUST A THEORY BC SINCE I BINGED PART 3, AND READ THE AUTHORS NOTE, I AM ACTUALLY SHAKING! YOU ARE SO CLEVER!!!!
{8/8} I’M SORRY THIS IS ALL OVER THE PLACE AND SUPER LONG WITH SO MANY QUESTIONS THAT I DONT EVEN KNOW THE MAIN QUESTION, BUT I HOPE I GOT MY POINT ACROSS! IM JUST A DUMBASS NOW REALIZING REFERENCES LOL😣, BUT I TRULY LOVE YOUR WRITINGS! 🥰❤️ Okay this is super long and I totally understand if you don’t even post thing ask, but just know you’re amazing, I love your work, and hope you have an amazing day!!! 😊
.
First of all, this is the longest ask I’ve ever received. Thank you for that.
To answer your questions, (you are NOT a dumbass, don’t call yourself that!), let’s talk about the Halloween chapter. When Y/N and the other Flatmate characters met the MG characters, it was on Halloween night. So when they came to the bookstore, Y/N expected to see the nice old lady who used to give her discounts when she was a student, but then she saw Eddie instead. A noticeable detail here was that Eddie told her the bookstore was a family business, meaning he had been working there for years, but why hadn’t they met before? It didn’t make sense.
Or did it?
It was Halloween night, so maybe it was the only night that the two alternate universes collided for a reason we couldn’t explain. And after that night, they would never see each other again unless something else happened.
But then in My Girl, Alice (the MC’s co-worker) said Layla was her cousin, this makes the point I made above invalid because Layla and the other Flatmate characters are real in this case and they are living in the same universe. The two Harrys and Nialls are just doupelgangers.
It really depends on how you prefer to believe. I wrote the crossover just for fun and to confuse you guys so it’s not very serious. But I love these theories so much 😍
About the In Another Life references, I LOVE what you said about how they broke the curse so they ended up together in every lifetime later on. This could be a connection between all the books and this could go so well with the first theory that Flatmate and MG were two parallel universes. Because they broke the curse in IAL, for every lifetime after, for every universes they were in, they always end up together no matter what.
This doesn’t really answer your questions because I don’t have the answers. The truth is just what you choose to believe in. 😉
