I think it’s time I introduce my doomed ancient yuri to the ninjago fandom. I’ll leave the story under the cut if anyone wants to read it 💜 it includes my Wojira backstory and why I draw Nyad as oni

Wojira is the younger, less powerful sister of firstbourne, I think. Wojira and Firstbourne we’re both chill with Oni, but Firstbourne was more Reserved about it . Like, she didn’t enforce weird rules or anything but she also . Didn’t stop her kids from being really awful.

Wojira spent more time with Oni than other Dragons. Even her kids (wind and water Dragons) were sort of weird about it. She didn’t really like the sort of power hoarding attitude of the other Dragons and decided to teach them a lesson about it.

When the first master was born she realized that Oni blood COULD bear elemental magic, and she took in two Oni kids (Nyad and her brother who I made up and haven’t named yet lmao) and gave them wind and water (separately) magic. And the other Dragons were VERY mad about this. They thought it was disgraceful.

They tried to get Firstbourne to banish her . Firstbourne refused and so her kids just all worked together to banish her instead. And sort of gave her a fucked up cursed eternal headache (in the amulets) Whoops . Nyad and her brother followed Wojira into the realm of Ninjago and tried to ease her pain for years but eventually it just sort of broke her mind and she started laying absolute waste to everything.

The FSM goes through his whole story (still figuring out details of it in my headcanons) and comes to Ninjago, desperate for a new home. And Nyad and her brother (I really need to name them DIFNDKFM) are scared of him at first. But he shows them his elemental magic and they realize he’s like them (Oni with elemental magic). And they bond over that and tell him about Wojira. The first master decides to help Nyad convince the Merlopians and Islanders to resist Wojira and hopefully bring peace to the realm.

Over several months they become good friends, and they often calm Nyad’s brother by making beautiful little worlds out of their elemental magic for him. And the FSM promises that one day Ninjago will be safe like these worlds, and they’ll all be able to live there.

And these very very lonely people have made a little family.

Of course, the Oni hunters are sent to track down the FSM, and Mystaké is the first to find them. She announces herself and demands the first master return with her. He begs to stay just long enough to make this world safe for the people there, and she reluctantly agrees when they show her the safe world they’re planning to build. It looks beautiful.

Mystaké joins their efforts, hoping to speed along the process of the first master’s return to the first realm, but she finds herself amazed by their magic and (worse) deeply fond of the little trio. She falls in love with Nyad, and starts letting herself indulge in their hopeful fantasies of a safe world where no one will find them. In this time, Nyad gives the FSM a name of his own to use when they have their safer world. Hajime.

When the preparations are as ready as they’ll ever be, the Battle of Nine Days begins. On the eighth day, Nyad’s little brother (who wasn’t even fighting) is struck near-fatally, and Nyad launches a risky attack to try and end the battle once and for all. It’s unsuccessful, but she realizes Wojira’s weak spot. Like in canon, she merges with the sea, desperate to give the others a chance at the world they’d all hoped for, and hoping that her brother could be saved if the battle ended and he could get proper help.

She knows she should kill Wojira, but she can’t bring herself to. And instead of killing her she decides to take the amulets, and send Wojira into a deep, painless sleep, hopefully eternal.

Hajime is devastated by Nyad’s death, and though Mystaké grieves her as well, she’s a lot more accustomed to death, and watches her go, surprised by the ache in her heart.

The brother lives, but passes on his element very soon after the events of the battle, sick of it’s consequence. Hajime builds the new world and appoints new masters, though he doesn’t know where the water and wind elements went (not his domain). Mystaké never even brings up the idea of taking Hajime back to the first realm again, and protects him from other hunters when she can. Hajime lives a long long time before choosing to pass on and find peace for himself. Mystake lives another thousand years, farming strange enchanted teas, occasionally a companion to Wu and Garmadon.

In Hunted, she confides in Lloyd that if or when she dies, she would like to be sunk into the sea where the battle took place (not that she tells him the story. Just the location), and Lloyd thinks it’s just some weird senile old lady talk. But when she does die at the hands of his father and the Sons of Garmadon in Hunted, Lloyd doesn’t get a chance to row her out until after March of the Oni.

She liked Lloyd. He was a lot like Hajime.

FIRSTBOURNE

Request from ao3. Firstbourne is back and spending some time with Lloyd.

Sensei?" Lloyd approached Wu, who stood in front of the monastery, gazing thoughtfully at the sky. "What are you doing?"

"I have a feeling that something important will happen today, my nephew." Wu replied.

"Important?" Lloyd asked, confused.

"Yes, something good, nothing dangerous," Wu said when he saw Lloyd's surprised expression. But Lloyd wasn't looking at him; he was looking at something moving in the sky.

"Is that..." Lloyd asked Wu, who had already started running forward to reach the dragon that had just landed.

"FIRSTBOURNE!" He exclaimed joyfully as the dragon approached him. "So glad you're back."

He stopped a step in front of the dragon, expecting her to happily throw herself at him, but instead Firstbourne just bypassed him.

"Excuse me?" He said this, turning around to see Firstbourne leaping towards him.

"Firstbourne," Lloyd said, overjoyed. "You're here!" The pair immediately forgot about Wu.

Wu simply couldn't be jealous; they were so cute. But still, why hadn't she even said hello to him? ...

"This feels good," Lloyd said as he rode on Firstbourne. "I'm glad you're here." The dragon purred in response and headed towards Ninjago City.

"Where are you taking us?" Lloyd asked, confused, as he saw them moving away from Ninjago City. Soon they landed on the ground near the amusement park.

"Do you want to go to the amusement park?" Lloyd asked. "But why?"

"Mom, look, a real dragon!" a child shouted and ran up to Firstbourne. Soon all the children gathered around Firstbourne, petting her and feeding her sweets.

"Now I see why you want to be at the amusement park," Lloyd said with a smile. "You like being petted, and you like sweets. You must have inherited that from someone, right?"

"Are you thirsty?" Lloyd asked Firstbourne as she greedily drank from the oasis in the Ninjago desert.

"No wonder after all those sweets. I've never eaten that many. Firstbourne didn't say anything; she just continued to drink.

"Take it easy," Lloyd told her. "You'll drink the whole lake." This time, she looked up and looked at him dangerously. Before Lloyd could react, a large jet of water from the dragon's mouth splashed him.

"Hey!" Lloyd said, soaking wet. He tried to splash the dragon, but his jet didn't even reach her knees. Firstbourne playfully nudged him with her head.

"Ouch!" Lloyd said, not because of the dragon's blow but because of something that hit him in the back. He turned around only to see Serpentine all around them.

"Ready to fight, Firstbourne?" Lloyd asked, but the dragon had already surpassed him. With her tail, she lifted the entire row of Serpentine into the air while she hit their heads with her head and legs. Lloyd took his katana in his hands to fend off a few attacks.

"Ninja go!" He shouted as he performed spinjitzu and took care of several Serpentine. He turned, ready for battle, but all he saw were frightened Serpentines running away from them.

"Great job, Firstbourne," he said to his dragon mother, who lifted him back onto her to take them somewhere else.

"It's nice here," Lloyd noticed. He and Firstbourne stood on the roof of a building, watching the sun set.

"It's just a little cold," his gi was still wet from the afternoon splash. Firstbourne decided to help him and wrapped her tail around him, pulling him closer to her.

"I think we should go," Lloyd said after the sun had completely set. "Mom and Uncle Wu might be worried."

"Here we are." Lloyd led Firstbourne to the courtyard. "Is it okay for you to sleep here?" Firstbourne stretched out and pulled Lloyd into her embrace.

"Do you want me to stay?" Lloyd gently asked as Firstbourne tightly wrapped her tail around him.

"I'm really glad you're here." Lloyd said it through a yawn. "I hope you'll stay..."

"They're so cute," Wu whispered behind him.

"Misako?" he said as he stood and watched Lloyd and Firstbourne sleeping together.

"Do you think they'll stay for a while?" Misako curiously asked.

"I think they will," Wu said, sadly looking into the distance. "Just..."

"Just what?" Misako asked him, concerned. "Firstbourne didn't even look at me."

"Come on, Wu," Misako said, placing her hand on his shoulder. "Maybe she was just excited to be here and wanted to see Lloyd. I'm sure she'll pay attention to you."

"One hundred percent?" Wu asked.

"One hundred percent," which made him a little happier and made him feel better.

"Goodnight, Wu."

"Goodnight, Misako," Wu said to her, watching her leave. 'Friends.' They always were and always would be. The love of Wu's life, 'And the wife of your brother, whom she always loved more.'

He sadly reminded himself. Shaking his head, it didn't make sense to think about it—not now. Firstbourne returned, and he should be happy instead of being overwhelmed by sad thoughts.

So @xsorrowxlightx continues to be the best and went and spoiled me again 🥺

For my birthday this time. My actual birthday isn’t until the end of the month, but the gift arrived early.

It’s Firstbourne!!!!

Technically I already knew that since she asked me to pick what I wanted, but it was still pretty amazing when it showed up.

I didn’t get a picture of it, but it came with 7 bags to work through

First minifigs were Cole and Jet Jack

The rest of bag one

Then bag two started off with Chew Toy, Heavy Metal, and Muzzle; then finished off the rest of the helicopter

Finally got to start building the dragon herself

Kai was at last freed from the final bag

Just in time for the build to be done

She's so big <3 When I saw just her torso I couldn't help but wonder how she could possibly wind up bigger than Heatwave, but she did.
