I'm not a massive warrior fan, I prefer rogue then mage, but my warriors all have a soft spot in my heart and the post for rogues is gonna be huuuge and it is midnight.

Origins

Kathari Tabris

An elf with a sword taller than she is. She was never sneaky enough for her mother to train her to be a rogue, so she focused on self defence and Kathari went full strength training. She goes Champion because she will champion her people and she will beat anyone who gets in the way.

Thornton Hawke

They are a massive person who looks terrifying but is a puppy on the inside. They're a sword and shield fighter and will get in the way of any attacks on their friends. Technically a berserker because 2 has terrible warrior options, it's for when they have to take those hits and deal the damage to end a fight. Honestly Templar would have been a good choice, but ain't no way Thornton is joining those ranks...

Nilsa Hawke (Brunhilde to her mother)

Nilsa is a two handed damage machine filled with rage and hating everything that isn't her friends and family. She is attack to the core. She is the only Hawke I have that sides with the templars, because she is that bitch, but she is a Reaver for the power.

Inquisition

After all that about not liking warriors, my canon Inquisitor:

Samahl'Dirth Lavellan

Samahl is a 2 handed sword wielder and a champion for his people (I don't like the other classes okay???)

He is not a warrior until the start of the game, he always thought he was a rubbish hunter and so was a craftsman and story teller. Turns out daggers and short swords are just too light! He gets a 2H sword in the starting fight and he just "gets it". He's so damn good no one realises he's untrained until Bull and Blackwall are watching and suddenly click. (Cassandra has been very stressed and there's no way Sam's asking her for help after the whole jail thing...!)

Finley Cadash

Finley was a Carta enforcer due to debts against his family (his dad's a dick) and so tends towards big heavy weapons. (There are 2 sword and shields on the team already plus Cullen, and I like the DPS life.)

He goes Reaver after being convinced he doesn't need to go Templar because Cassandra will be there if they need mage fighting support. He's very concerned with appearances and thought Templar would help the public accept them better and with the Venatori causing problems everywhere... He puts his own needs last.

My warriors tend towards noble and kind, though several have tempers or a violent streak. Even Nilsa has her moments and she was made exclusively to side with the templars for the achievement that I've never got because I would actually have to finish her game and kill Bethany. Yes, she is that bitch.

Aslit Adaar

Edit: yes I forgot my beautiful baby boy I am shamed

Aslit is the only sword and shield warrior in Inquisition, as he wants to protect others. He's constantly fighting to be seen beyond his (very impressive) horns. He's very cultured and consumes books, so he's got a rose tinted glasses situation with Champions. When he knows more with the Chevalier's, he decides to prove that Champions are for people not profit and murder and Gascoin.

Aslit is all about distraction and confusion and keeping attention on him so someone else can destroy the enemy.

Samahl is one of the characters I have actually written fics about, because he's so fun. I love him so much.

actually when i was in the CC i rly liked the idea of the lip makeup being an extension of her vallaslin but they rarely ever seem to be the same shade in most of inquisition's lighting

there has to be some sort of elfy vallaslin ink magic they have that could keep the lip coloring fresh as hell right?

#finley lavellan #yolanda talks #i could have just let finley be a wholesome elf. just a good man. and leave it at that. but i have to also give him bastard energy #when i first conceived of finley lavellan i just wanted to make him 1. a healer mage. practical kind of mage. 2. dorian's elemental opposite #and by that i mean he excels in ice spells instead of fire spells #and that was more or less it. but to be fair. considering the name i gave him first is fina'gon. he was supposed to b kinda like fingon #but i HAVE to give him bastard elf potential. so i threw in a dash of maedhros & now he has feanorian bastard energy #hes still a good person because maedhros...was a good person. just...when pressed he could do something thats against his moral codes #it's more the potential to be a bastard. energy only triggered under desperate circumstance. like an oath or something #i'd say he also has a bit of maglor in him but finley can't sing for shite though. he just has maglor's gentleness #and....good with kids (?) semi nurturing energy? #and oh maglor is a rider (im pretty sure). and finley sure loves riding for a mage

tonight’s mood is thinking about my mage lavellan, finley, developing a passion in runes/crystal/gem crafting and blacksmithing and being an...inventor of sorts, cause i remember how much i like blacksmith elves. like, its one of the reason why i love noldor elves--obvs they arent the only tolkien elves who knows how to do smith works, but feanor is a noldor prince and yeah hes the way he is but he is famous for smithy work and craftsmanship and im sprinkling like 10% of feanor into my lavellan, like im straight up building my lavellan like he’s a noldor elf at this point cause i have accepted what my subconscious has been doing all along dont @ me.  kinda sucks that in da only dwarves can work with lyrium, but mages can still enchant and craft items like rings etc, i imagine doing the aforementioned works simply takes up a lot of resources. i’d like to think that my lavellan’s research as First of the clan mainly focused on herbal/potion related areas, cause he’s a healer, but he’s healer out of necessity. he gotta help his mama (the keeper) to make sure, like 50 something people aren’t going sick. in the clan but once he’s become the inquisitor, he’s got the resources he wouldn’t have access to otherwise, and he can actually develop his true passion. Not to mention, aside from going to the undercroft  A LOT to request crafting of weapons and armours and such, inquisitor would have eventually lose a hand, and like everybody else, i headcanon that my lavellan works with dagna to make a metal-based skeleton-like prosthetic for his hand, it’s just that in his case he would be using this prosthetic as the base to summon a “fade hand” to it (aka using his knowledge as a rift mage to shaping fade essence into “memory of the hand”/phantom limb). He’d have lots of opportunities to develop a passion into metal-work and runes/crystals.  plus finley’s got a...lmao...a rich boyfriend (dorian) now? and he would eventually move to tevinter with dorian. i can just imagine him converting like, the entire basement in dorian’s house into a damn forge/medieval “mad scientist’ lab. And whenever he’s not out and about learning more about lost info about ancient elves in tevinter and tracking s*las’ movement, he’d be crafting better weapons and armours for himself since he’s trying to be discreet in passing himself as a warrior more instead of carrying a staff around in tevinter. Also he’s trying to recover more of the way of arcane warrior since he’s always had a passion in fighting in the style of battle mage (he and my warden gonna get along lol), which partially what led him to become so passionate about smithy and metal-work in the first place. He would even go out his way to better crystal technologies (there are sending crystals, memory crystals, there is one panel in a earlier da comic that shows what looks like holo projections, seems like tevinter is quite proficient with their crystal crafting and utilization). i bet he can make the sending crystal that dorian gave him into an actual phone and fucking...holo-facetime him, lmao.  Also the concept of the night is finley lavellan wearing an apron and medieval  fantasy safety helmet with visor, hands dirty from drilling crystals and hammering metals. the concept of the night is finley lavellan being an artificer with “dwarvish obsession with crafts” (just like celebrimbor ;-;).  honestly finley literally let his hair went wild during his time at the inquisition, after three years, his hair gonna grow from shoulder length to half way down his back lol. he’s gonna look like a real elven lord (well, if he’s gonna get called lord lavellan he might as well look the part). i cant believe i give dorian a noldor-looking elven lord for boyfriend, im being too kind. finley only let his hair grow long 1 and half year before inquisition, so this is definitely new to him too--but he would eventually cut his hair into a basic short side-part soon.  i think like her brother, valerie lavellan would be interested in some smithing too, considering that she is the warrior here, but i think she’s more interested in wood work since she likes to make flutes and wooden toys for the kids in the clan.

AND hes genuinely sorry abt what tevinters done #on top of all that. they are both mages. they can learn from each other. cultivate their talents together. protect each other none other can #its why i love mage x mage romance in dragon age. the understanding! the pursue of knowledge together! its great stuff #the reasons go on! anyways its a very neato concept and for all pavellan's popularity...it seem the potential is rarely explored

lavellan + josephine is a very neato concept but the flirt prompt options lavellan has for josiephine are also some of the worst, and from what i remember there arent even a lot of flirt prompts for josie in general. like when they first met, josie would ask lavellan if they miss home. and then the flirty response is basically like, “aww but why would i miss my family and all that i know as my life when you, random ass human i just met, are here? *wink wonk* <3333″. TERRIBLE. and josie responded to that accordingly cause she was like, “what? what are you talking about?” What were they talking about indeed josie! my female lavellan actually went for that option on my first playthrough cause i was afraid that if i didnt choose this option i cant initiate the romance with josie later (its probably true tbh) and because of this choice, the useless lesbian jumped out of her! imagine if its a male lavellan saying this shit, who does this bitch think he is? zevran? djdjdjdjd (hum tbh zevran would definitely try to court josephine...and he would definitely succeed...hum)

i know that dorian probably didn’t invent that sending crystal technology, but it doesn’t mean he can’t...learn it and reprogram it? Think about it, tevinter is rich with crystal and other minerals, it seems that they host a lot of technologies in crystals (ex. the hologram stage play). Imagine if dorian reprograms he and his amatus’ sending crystals and now the crystals have a memory system and  mainframe and can display a hologram screen when activated, and the crystal has three apps: 1. message app, except that it can still be used when game apps are on so it’s basically Medieval Fantasy Discord 2. a chess game with two modes, remote pvp and single player 3. the wicked grace card game, again with pvp and single player modes. While everybody is still dying of consumption cause ooh wizards scary no using magic, solas is busy being a LOSER dicking around in the fade since fade energy can reshape reality wah wah wah and trying to commit genocide YET AGAIN, and everybody’s dorian romancing inquisitor doing fuck what with dorian in ur cute little timelines, my lavellan and dorian are living 2000 years into the future sexting through discord while playing digital card games projected from a magical crystal what is UP mother and fuckers
