ok listen. it's simple. 4th dimension is "time", but "time" is entropy

when time is stopped, entropy doesn't happen, right?

when things stop moving, they get colder, so theoretically, if the entire universe froze to 0K, everything would just be still

nothing could move, it'd be an eternal freeze-frame that you could only perceive from the outside

because if you're inside, time would stand still

and you would stand still too

neurons wouldn't be firing, current wouldn't travel

and so that means

if a 4D "slice" viewed from the 5th dimension

same way as we see a 2D "slice" from our 3D perspective

that would just be a snapshot of time

and the entire 4th dimension of the universe would be the timeline as defined by entropy

BUT

as we know from quantum theory

entropy is decay and decay is random

right?

so that must be the 5th dimension

randomness

all possibilities are within the 5th dimension

which is why it's magic

a 5D "slice" would be all possible timelines as defined by entropic sequences

so if you were a 5th dimensional creature you would be omnipotent within our understanding of the world right now

because the thing we least understand is causality

why do random things happen

and the starfish knows

and we don't

and that's the scary part with gods

is that they know something we just CAN'T know

we CAN'T see beyond

does that make sense?

if i affect entropy in this way by doing this thing

what will happen as a reaction?

and that's what i think makes fifthists scary

is that they see all possibilities through the starfish

but those are different "timelines"

if the starfish wanted to show us something

it'd be like us drawing a world of flat 2D figures

and then drawing something that's a representation of a 3D figure

if we're using the drawing metaphor

which is the easiest one to understand for me personally

and pataphysics in general

the starfish is an "author-entity"

in that it has control over the "narrative" i.e. can affect entropy

if you haven't read it yet i suggest you go read it posthaste

because it's what happens when an omnipotent entity is a complete fucking idiot

and i think that's the fun thing about fifthism

of course it doesn't understand us. it doesn't have to. do you understand how a pillbug feels? no you don't. do you think the sun cares about your feelings? fuck no

something powerful beyond our understanding doing shit like the starfish is, to me, the same as a child building a sandcastle or doing a crayon drawing

we are the paper, the canvas, whatever

and it just doesn't even see us as whole. we're just a constituent part of its existence

humans are like a natural law and it doesn't even notice us enough to care

which is why people get stepped on

and squished

like a snail gets stepped on

or a jellyfish gets beached

i've been kicking around the idea of a group of fifthist minecraft streamers for ages too but i don't know how to even begin making it a reality. it appeals to me for so many reasons. like,

it's a numerology thing.

if you think of the environment of a video game as a type of reality there are implicit parallels between video game glitches and reality bending. (i also really like the idea of fifthist speedrunners for the same reason; unfortunately i specifically dislike minecraft speedrunning.) i also think because minecraft is so artistically regular you could create some cool imagery by bending its style. i grew up on video game creepypasta.

i'm just really into the idea of fifthist internet celebs - of the intersection between memetics and infohazards and the internet in general. i feel like there's a lot of interesting territory around the ideas of fandom, idolization, and internet personalities and influencers for examination and satire, and the internet is an extraordinary tool of info dissemination (for good or ill).

i like stories where the foundation seems genuinely in trouble, and i want them to contend with 1,000,000 subscribers on twitch.
