Okay so I have an an idea for a college AU.

Fido and Bandit are in college together, Fido is an artist and Bandit is an aspiring musician. Fido Paints all of Bandits album covers in exchange for Bandit being his model. Bandit is pretty shy about it but he goes along with it. Eventually Bandit has to move away and they don’t see each other again until they’re both (single) middle aged dads and they end up crushing for each other all over again. Bandit lets Fido paint him again and Fido takes in all the little changes on bandit from the years gone by. He’s far more confident and is eager to be painted, he’s mellowed out a ton and is even a little pudgy in the middle now which Fido finds adorable,,, anyway they end together again somehow lol

Is it true that Lincoln’s dog Fido is the reason Fido became a popular name for dogs?

It's certainly thought that it popularized the name "Fido" for dogs in the United States, but I don't know for sure if that's apocryphal and has just become common knowledge or not.

Fidelis or fidus is Latin for (roughly) "faithful" or "trustworthy", so "Fido" seems like a pretty perfect name for a dog. I'm sure Lincoln wasn't the first person to use that name, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did give it the 19th Century version of a signal boost, especially in the United States.

Update on recovering the 1979 story cassette tapes!

This is a continuation from this post I made when I first received the tapes and books in the mail from ebay. I found a friend of a friend with a recording setup who offered to digitize them, and while Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy already has the book itself up on Internet Archive, I still hope to scan or photograph Camel with the Wrinkled Knees as well! So you may see an update to this post in the future.
