good luck and have a bitchin summer!

[cara buono, cis female, she / her ] who’s that? oh it’s [karen anderson wheeler]. i hear they’re [forty-two] and are known as [the overbearing mother] around [hawkins]. they’re also a [stay at home mom]. they’re known to be [responsible + caring] and [impatient + hypocritical]. some people say they remind them of [taking priority in yours and your family’s appearance, feeling completely alone in a house of five, perfectly manicured nails running through blond curls]. [aj, 23, she/they, n/a, gmt] (sorry 4 the layout i’m mobile and it went weird but i couldn’t fix it 😔)

if you asked anyone in the class of 1964 at carmel high school just what they thought karen anderson was going to do after graduation, they all would have said the exact same thing — she was going to go to a prestigious college out of state, achieve a top degree and never look back. it was all she talked about doing senior year, so not exactly a well-kept secret. karen was intelligent and had been co-captain of the cheerleading squad, and while she had a tendency to be a little gossipy, almost everyone liked her because she was much kinder than most of her teammates. maybe it was all just a facade, but even so she never let it slip.

despite having an excellent mind, karen’s mother had always drummed into her head from a young age that instead of chasing her dreams, she should just marry an older, wealthier man. then she would be taken care of, and could have everything that she ever dreamed of without having to work for it. whereas that wasn’t necessarily guaranteed with having a degree. karen had always been adamant that wasn’t the case, and she was going to prove her mother wrong.

graduation came and went and karen had already received an acceptance letter to purdue university. it was the last summer before she would finally leave, for good. but that was when she met ted wheeler. ted was an older man and he had a good job. the only thing that kept replaying on her mind whenever the two of them saw one another was the words of her mother, and so karen gave up on her dreams and her and ted ended up getting married only a year after they met. it was a surprise to everyone, but the two of them were in love. right?

wrong. the novelty wore off after a couple of years but by that point, karen had just given birth to their eldest daughter, nancy and they moved to hawkins to ‘settle down’. she was only twenty-one years old, and she couldn’t exactly leave because at first ted was a great father, and it was only fair to raise their child in a non-broken home. together ted and karen ended up having three children — nancy, mike and holly. and although their marriage to this day remains a loveless one, karen wouldn’t give up her kids for the world. there’s been the odd temptation or two, but while the kids are still at home, her marriage has to stay intact. it’s the right thing to do. and because what would the neighbours think?

Wanted Opposites!

This isn’t a very important post, especially when I should be doing drafts but if anyone has these faceclaims to go against any of mine, platonically, romantic, strangers, etc. HMU! (MESSAGES!) I will probably already be attached because I just adore ocs, but even better with these fcs.
