What do you find more interesting about alchemy, the experimental side of it or the philosophical side of it? Hope you don't mind me asking, Sun and Moon just got me so into alchemy. Now I think about it everyday. XD

Mmhhh, it depends?

By and large I’m more interested in the philosophical aspect. The experimental aspect can be interesting, but it’s interesting more in a theoretically sense rather than what was actually accomplished. It’s interesting looking at what they attempted to accomplish, about the questions they tried to answer, more so than what was actually discovered or answered. And in some ways this is true about modern day science as well; it’s always fascinating to hear about new scientific discoveries, it’s amazing when we discover new theories or accomplishments, but it’s also important to realize that the majority of science is experimentation without earth-shattering results being found every other day. Science is a lot of toil and hard work, and the flash is very minimal. It might not be what Bill Nye led us to believe, but it’s true.

And that’s true of medieval alchemy as well. No one actually discovered a way to create gold, no one actually discovered the Elixir of Life. Those things are myth. And the experimentation that went down and was carried out was not nearly as flashy or magical as Fullmetal Alchemist portrays it. It was a lot closer to modern day chemistry, I believe, than it was to the science magic we see in FMA, where a transmutation circle and concentrated understanding could create entire structures within minutes. (Though that said, my To Devour the Sun fic will portray alchemy far closer to FMA’s style, since that’s far more interesting for fiction than the realistic alternative.) So in that sense it’s less interesting than the symbolism that was put into works, than the ideas that are behind them. Six hundred failed experiments to create gold from nothing will often be less exciting than stories about green lions devouring suns. It’s just how it goes.

But that said, science in itself is interesting and I do think that reading about some of the experiments that were carried out and the things that were discovered from them were interesting. It’s not like I have a lack of interest in that. It really depends, especially since finding translations of those works can be difficult, and finding accurate translations even more so.

One entire year at Tumblr :D

DEAL WITH IT

An entire year at Tumblr running a rp blog for a vampire that we now know.. A tiny bit about. Instead of just a whole lot of nothing. When I think about it, I don’t think that much has changed, but looking back... It has. Back when I started up, I honestly had no idea how the customs of tumblr RPs worked. I didn’t know about rules, formatting posts, icons... Honestly NOTHING at all. I’m still amazed that no one yelled at me.

I think I caught on pretty quickly tho, four months later, I made this blog. Changing from a sideblog, to a main. And boy, that changed a lot. With that came the new icons(why did I decide to go all out with them... Whhyyy), promos, rules, a design(that is very old holy-), and everything a RP’er should have. At least according to tumblr.

Although I have to say that I still felt a bit alone being on tumblr. I never really got to speak to people OOC, and the ones I reached out to.. Oboi (((: Let’s forget about that. It gradually became better. In May I met what I’d call my first “tumblr friend”. Who unfortunately isn’t very active RP-wise anymore.

December was wild compared to the rest of my time. Starting with a meme that led to me getting to talk with Lily(@elyon-kurae), not to mention the dear Vero(@monophagia) joining in on the RP :D! That has led to yet another chain event, and I’m very much involved in the RP community now. I think I finally understand what it’s all about.

And although I’ve been through a lot, weeks of inactivity, spikes of activity and shitposting, tons of asks, lack of asks.. Hm, well, we’re still here. I still have the pleasure of talking to most of the people I did back in the days, and a lot of new to call friends.

@lestkarrkingofeurope: Starting out with a strange RP on a drawing I won(reblogged just before this post~). I have no idea what we were doing, but it was a lot of fun! Also the reason I even stumbled into this community to begin with. Lately I’ve had the pleasure of being... blessed a lot. Save me from my sins, oh holy tsunami.

@forgottenprogenitor: I think you came along with Lest, with your former muse, Akane. I adored that RP, giving me a chance to show some of Urds more gentle sides. Akihiko was the absolute breakthrough though, I adore him. I love our interactions, and look forwards to yet another year!

@tatsu-rose-bathory: YOU CAME WITH A FLOWECROWN! I remember that much :D! It took a few weeks before we eventually interacted, but I was pretty much in love with Tatsu from the start(still very much am). I really enjoy reading about her, not to mention their occasional small talk they do nowadays. It’s so nice having someone around that Urd actually looks at with gentle eyes ;-;

You are/were an amazing writer, and honestly I felt so bad whenever I wrote replies, because.. Ah, I didn’t feel worthy at all. krultepxs: Deactivated, unfortunately... A Krul I had tons of fun with, planning all kind of strange stuff. Urd keeping Krul a prisoner after her treason in the Kremlin. An AU where they had to marry. Unfortunately we never got to RP, or plan that much due to me going hiatus for a few weeks.

I love football (soccer). I’m often pissed when, here in wonder France, it’s said to be a “boy’s thing”. Actually the media endorses this visions which pisses me more (in a simili talk show “so woman presentator, do you know what the rules of the off side is?” “of course not, man presentator! But I like football, I colletct all the stickers etc.”) - eventhough the national women’s team made it quite far in the recent competitions. Of course there is no model for the random supporter - but claiming to be a supporter just because “Cristiano Ronaldo is so hawt OMG” eclipses girls/women who prefer watching matches with a lot of teamwork and nice goals.

I actually regret reading A Song of Ice and Fire - partly because it sorts of leads me to procrastination when I should do something else, partly because it brings me back into my bad habits of pointing canon divergence with the TV series. I love Peter Jackson’s adaptation of LOTR even if i’m fully aware it has major differences with the original books. Maybe I’m expecting more from adaptation as I grow older, idk. I don’t think an adaptation has to be 100% faithful to be enjoyable, but I also believe it can’t be enjoyable if a character is assassinated on screen - or on paper.

I can’t understand why it is often said Paris is the most beautiful city of the world - take a deep breath at the Auber train station and try to say this again. Or maybe odours aren’t relevant when we’re talking about “beauty”?

Hiii Your blog is really cool. Snake has been growing on me. He's so sweet. Something interesting I've noticed about him is that he and his snakes get unsettled by John Brown. Why do you think he gets like that around him?

I’m... struggling to think of times when Snake’s interacted with John Brown? (I have trouble telling the Queen’s servants apart from one another). The only time I can think of where Snake’s even seen him was in chapters 93/94, when he showed up with a letter. In that specific case, Snake and Sebastian were both a little shocked to see him because he appeared so suddenly (and because his horse was looking at them funny).

Since Snake is naturally a pretty shy person, he’s unsettled by most people. He acts uncomfortable around anyone he doesn’t know very well. The snakes tend to hiss defensively like they did at John Brown whenever something unexpected happens, so what I’m getting at is that I didn’t read much of anything into that scene. They all acted normally there, from my perspective. If you’re asking about a different scene, let me know.

I kinda do but also don’t support this because while it becomes clear pretty quickly that Elincia is developing a Thing for him, Ike never reciprocates once (unless of course you pull for an A Support, but he’s still pretty tame about it). Elincia doesn’t so much flirt and she does be much friendier to him, but its still noticeable, but Ike doesn’t really react.

And no, he isn’t oblivious, he never was. Ike’s pretty good at reading people, but prefers to keep it to himself. He’s known for most of the game that Titania was in love with his father when no one else did but never said a word about it, and routinely gives eerily parental advice to his troops when they’re having dilemmas, so he’s far from ignorant. So more than likely, Ike knew about Elincia’s feelings, and chose not to address them.

There could be various reasons why (I’m stalwart behind my headcanon of him as aro/ace), but I acknowledge it as canon from a one-sided perspective, but not much more.

Top 5 Pokemon generations?

Haha, see, the problem with this question is that the generations of Pokémon can’t really be graded overall, because each generation excels at a different thing. Some are better for story, some are better for gameplay, others are better for the region, and so on and so forth. I can’t really say, “Generation [number] is my favorite” because while it might be my favorite in one area, it’s not my favorite in others. To date, there is not a single generation that excels at everything overall. Each and every one has a weakness.

That said, I usually separate them in terms of Story, Region, and Gameplay. So to rate them like that, in order of Best to Worst:

Story:

Gen 5

Gen 7

Gen 3 (ideally Emerald’s conflict combined with the Delta Ep)

Gen 4 (I guess; I’ll give this a better judge when I play the remakes)

Gen 2 (hey, the continuity was nice)

Region:

Gen 2 — Johto

Gen 5 — Unova

Gen 3 — Hoenn

Gen 7 — Alola (I guess; I like what we see of it, but it’s so tiny)

Gen 6 — Kalos

Gameplay:

Gen 7 or 6

Gen 6 or 7

Gen 5

Gen 4

Gen 3

… I mean, gameplay better be in descending order considering the gameplay tends to improve each generation. The only reason why I’m stuck between six and seven is because seven did improve on a lot of things, but it also:

Took away the DexNav

Took away Soaring

Stuck us with RotomDex

Gave us what sounded like a cool mechanic with Ride Pokémon, yet between the music and the outfit made it so obnoxious I loathe using it

Those were all things that Gen VI did better (GIVE ME BACK MY GODDAMN BIKE, GAME FREAK), and as such I have a hard time saying that seven is better overall, even though it did improve on a lot of things, too.

Levin?

How I feel about this character: Levin Levin Levin..... He’s one of those characters where he shows up in both gens like some second or third or fourth Main Character, and gets a pretty big role in the latter — to the point it basically trivializes the whole Holy War if he were not there to see it out. It’s interesting, really. You get this real!Levin in Gen One, who is not much of tactician material. That’s sort of like appointing Ced/Sety to lead an army, somewhat. (Where he’s better off alone or in a very small group than lead half of the world... which Holsety!Levin did even in backstage, it’s a stark contrast to his host which I liked).

Hypnotically, father!Lewyn is one of those interesting fathers in terms of possible storyline AUs (off-topic: still think Finn!Ced makes very little sense). You could bring up BriggidxLewyn, and that one’s pretty... ambiguous. (”oh Levin told me this about mother” which sounds like what he’d say if that was one of his conversations with any of his possible daughters in Chapter 10). I doubt he’d know of Eyvel either (unless FE5!Finn pitched in to Lewyn some time and told him of his suspicions?), because Holsety!Lewyn overlooks details at times. (Did he not remember Deirdre to draw the connection to Julia? Or was he afraid of reading too much into it that she may be the host of Naga, of all holy lineages out there that also trivializes the Holy War’s victory itself? IDK fragmented memories being fuzzy with him is a thing, so I’ll give him a slide. A dragon posing a human isn’t always a god-ly thing as fascinating that can get. :P)

All the people I ship romantically with this character: For Gen 1 Levin: Fury. Levin’s a blockhead that Fury somehow balances that out. I can’t seem to draw the “just friends” relationship with those two, without one party having a squish-crush on the other by the end of the day.

For Holsety!Levin: Nobody. Fury’s debatable, but he isn’t the best...husband, even if he may show care and has human feelings deep under the surface (as seen with Tinny over Tailto’s tragic death). He might be able to act like a spouse face-to-face. Dragons? Romance? With humans who believe their (corpse/dead) hubbies are still alive and themselves still? How do.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: I don’t really have an OTP on this one?... But I did like the idea of Lewyn+Sigurd (Sigurd even called Rahna his mother figure aaww). Mahnya+Lewyn for friendly outings and funs and picking on.

Holsety!Lewyn hanging out with the other adults (Shanan, Oifaye) feels nice if they ever pop up to chat. (”What are you two grinning about?” in the Light Inheritors manga pretty much summed up how funny their relationship can get, to me, That Senior and Two Juniors club.)

My unpopular opinion about this character: Hrrrmmm, is saying the whole Silesia/Lewyn character arc pretty much bored me an unpopular opinion? In the lines of ‘it didn’t stack up in enjoyment for me as the other chapters did’ way.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Some sort of cutscene on what went on between Gen One and Gen Two would have been neat, IMO. Seeing Lewyn travel across the Jugdral map before running into Manfroy... But I guess we have the Opening Demo for that? Ah, I know. “Look, I’m the strategist now, you two get back and help Seliph run things” talk between Lewyn and Shanan & Oifaye when he takes over.
