A/N: Female reader, I don’t think I used any pronouns in this but just to be safe.

Summary: After Eliza is left in a coma, you can't help but feel like it's your fault. Jordan seeks to change that.

There was only so much you could take. Everything seemed to be wrong all at once. Stress had brought you both to your breaking points, an argument the last thing that left your lips. The last glance she gave you was full of anger and pain.

Now Harry was gone.

And she was in a coma.

Her firey red hair was neatly braided to the side. You had redone it while she lay there, your movements had been hyper-gentle. Careful of every touch. It was the least you could do for her. Regret festered and ate away at your chest, you both had broken your number one rule. Don't go on a mission angry. Because this was always the possible outcome.

The possibility of her dying thinking that you hated her.

As you watched her soft and relaxed face you couldn't help that guild that danced hand in hand with your regret. Perhaps this was your fault. Perhaps you compromised her before the mission. Perhaps she wouldn't be there in that hospital bed if you'd simply weren't with her.

Maybe she would be okay.

Your fingers grasp her limp hand with desperation. A silent prayer, a beg, only a glimpse of inner turmoil that abused you from the inside.

You wanted her, needed her, to be okay.

"Hey." A familiar voice came and at first, you didn't turn to look at them, too focused on Eliza.

Yet you slowly did when a chair was pulled up next to yours. With a slow blink, you turned to glance at the man. Covered in bruises and bandages Jordan gave you a soft smile. He was hurting too, she might have been your lover but he was still her friend. A brother.

There was a look in his eyes, he was in mourning too. He missed Eliza too. You opened your mouth to say something, anything. Yet, they never came. A choked sob left your mouth and his head tilted slightly and opened his arms. Instantly you leaned forward into them. A warm embrace that enveloped you while you buried your face into his shoulder. If you caused him any pain due to his injuries, it didn't show.

"I…"

"Hey, hey she's going to be alright. Ash is strong like that." Jordan cooed, gently rubbing your shoulder with his thumb.

"We were fighting before she left and I-" Your voice broke down more as tears started to flow from your eyes. "What if I compromised her, what if her perception was-" Jordan pulled you closer against his chest.

"Don't do that to yourself." His voice was firm, slightly harsh. "Don't do that to her. We both know her focus is unwavering during a mission. She wouldn't let herself become compromised so easily." He let out a breath and his voice softened again. "None of us saw it. Not until it was too late. Deimos is the one to blame and don't you forget that." He squeezed you slightly tighter but gave out a small hiss in pain. He had overdone it.

Jordan pulled back, his eyes on yours. "We'll get that bastard and we will make him pay. Focus on getting him." You looked away from his gaze.

"I've been deemed medically unfit. I'm emotionally compromised." Your eyes found Eliza's unconscious form and Jordan paused.

"Then look after her for me, and yourself." You turned to face him, slight surprise written on your face. "I can't be here all the time. But I think it would be a weight off everyone's back if we know that you have Eliza's." Jordan gave you a reassuring smile, his hand on yours.

"Yeah, I can do that."

"And look after yourself. Keep proper rest, eat." He paused for a moment before his smile free slightly cheeky. "Shower, wouldn't want Eliza's nose to die the moment she wakes up."

A small laugh bubbled in your chest and you recuperated holding his hand. "Yeah, I can do that too."
