"In 1392 Eleanor granted for the first time in history the protection of bird nests against illegal hunters under the jurisdiction later conferred by the Carta de Logu; the Eleonora's falcon (Falco eleonorae) was later named after her due to this. She herself, as well as her other family members, enjoyed falconry.
She enacted the code of laws known as the Carta de Logu (meaning Charter of Law), which was in effect in Sardinia from 1395 until 1827. In that code there is the modernizing of certain norms and the juridical wisdom that contains elements of the Roman-canonical tradition, the Byzantine one, the Bolognese jurisprudence and the thought of the glossators of the Catalan court culture, but above all the local juridical elaboration of the Sardinian customs made by Sardinian municipal law. One notable provision of the Code is that it gave daughters and sons the same inheritance rights. As well, it also declared that rape could be recompensed through marriage only if the woman who was raped agreed to marry her rapist, and even if she did the Code declared that the rapist still had to either pay a large fine to the Senate or have his foot cut off (his choice). If she did not agree to marry him, he had to give her a dowry that suited her social status, so that she could marry someone else, and he still had to either pay a large fine to the Senate or have his foot cut off (his choice). As well, these punishments were not affected by whether or not the woman in question was betrothed. The Code also led Eleanor to be remembered as one of the first lawmakers to set up the condition of reciprocity when dealing with foreigners, as well as the crime of misfeasance."

WIP Whenever (sort of)
I was tagged by the lovely @thequeenofthewinter and I was going to post the link to my completed "short fic" Temba and the Bear but as AO3 is currently down, instead have some screenshots I took while working on the story. And apologies for the oddness this week. Should have some writing next week. ^_^
Tumblr media
First up is Temba. She really grew on me over the course of the story. (She's wearing Hedge Mage armor by ElleH with a scarf from skyrim scarves and mufflers by cmdo and is inside Ebongrove by undriel)
Tumblr media
Next we have Elmand in Fuse's Red Warrior armor (with Hide bracers and a red bandana). He turned out to be a remarkably fun character to write.
Tumblr media
And Ralof and Thevin (the Dragonborn), showed up during the course of the story. They're wearing gear from Guards Armor Replacer by NordWarUA here
Tumblr media
View from the steps to High Hrothgar
Tumblr media
On the bridge by Nilheim
Tumblr media
And the path by the player home Pinegrove Lodge by Elianora
I know it's not writing or technically art but hope you enjoy anyway. And thank you for the tag, Winter. 💖💖 (I'll toss a link up to the completed story once AO3 is once again functional).

with news of the american ornithological society deciding to replace all eponyms in bird names, ie birds named after a real life person, my mind went to Eleonora's Falcon, a small hawk found in the Mediterranean region that winters in Madagascar. The name comes from Elianora D'Arborea, who was Juighessa, aka the ruler of a Judicate, what the island of Sardinia was split into from the 9th to the 15th century. During her reign over the Judicate of Arborea from 1347 to 1403, Elianora updated and enacted a codex of laws called the Carta de Logu, the first collection of norms of the island, written in Sardinian language. The norms Elianora put down in the Carta were a mix of historical rules and new ones that made it so effective that it was in use from the year 1392 to 1827, when it was replaced by the Savoyard code. From Wikipedia:
Tumblr media
Additionally, and this is where Eleanor's Falcon comes in, the Carta de Logu was the first codex of laws in history (or at least in Europe) to protect hawk and falcon nests from illegal hunting! So that is why I believe if would be nice if this specific bird could keep its eponym.
and here's a not contemporary painting of Elianora writing the Carta:

heard you wanted relationship asks--have a whole bunch! (feel free to pick and choose if this is too many! just wanted to give you space to talk about them if you'd like :) ) 2, 5, and 6 for canach and galaed; 4, 17, and 22 for lucianora; and 38 and 39 for anwen and trahearne :D @kerra-and-company
A happy New Year to you 🎇🎆and thank you so much for the asks ! 🥰 I had a lot of pleasure answering these ! A good note to end last year and start this new one 😁
2. Any sleep habits either had to get used to?
Canach is a very light sleeper. As life becomes kinder, he learns to let his guard down but there were a few tumbles along the way... especially considering Galaëd gets extra clingy in his sleep... Galaëd might have found himself pined to the bed once or twice before Canach realised it was him and not an assassin, in the room with him...
Now... as to what sort of assassin tenderly wraps thelselves around your back in your sleep...😅
Canach let out a sound between an exasperated sigh and a strained chuckle when Galaëd pointed this out.
"You are the death of me, Valiant."
5. What is their love language?
For Canach, acts of service. Helping Galaëd dress up his wounds, after the fight against Balthazar. Ordering a round of his favorite drink the second he walks through the door of Amnoon casino. Making sure he feeds himself and gets some rest – forcefully if needed be – when he's working himself to exhaustion, as Acting Commander, after Rorschach's death and filing the request for a long vacation after the victory on Kralkatorrikk and Rorschach's resurrection.
For Galaëd, since they do their best to be discreet about their relationship (quite an arduous endeavour when a good third of your guild are spies!) and he must refrain from public displays of affection (his chief love language is touch, so he makes up for this when they're alone 😁), he simply tries to make as much room as he can for quality time.
6. When did they realize they loved each other?
Alright, I've already motioned how Galaëd got to deal with his reluctant crush on Canach from the moment he joined the Pact in the Silverwaste and his feelings changing over the course of the campaign of Maguuma, to the point of him accepting he did fancy Canach sometime after their detour via Rata Novus and finally understanding he was actually quite smitten sometimes after Bloodstone Fen and Caudecus' Manor.
But Canach got an interesting progression too because the poor cactus got the worst "not now, boner" moment ever 😆
I mean, the conclusion of his vigilante/terrorist days on Southsun was, understandably, a particularly stressful time for Canach. He was a fugitive fighting for his life, setting in motion a plan meant to come to fruition even after his death, cornered in a cave rigged with explosives and high on painkillers...
And one of the sellswords come aid the Lionsguard arrest him had a very unexpected effect on him!
"Well, fuck me."
Needless to say Galaëd totally misinterpreted that at the time!
After that, Canach tried to forget the reaction his pollen addled brain had had to seeing a literal vision of dream come at him with a sword and tackle him to the ground. And if their relation was quite strained when Canach first joined the operations in Siverwastes, the isolation they faced, the defiance of other races (even if their close companions were mostly supportive...), the constant pression of Mordremoth thundering against their willpower, finfing solace in each other's presence forged a strong bond, that Canach realised only after Rata Novus was stronger than mere infatuation. He willed to bottle up his feelings till the day he was free, though. And got smacked in the face by Galaëd falling asleep on his lap in Bloodstone Fen, and scaring the blue out of Anise in Caudecus' dungeons.
4. How did they first meet?
Elianora was sent as an envoy of the Pact in Elona around 1328AE. The mission was to make acquaintances amongst the locals, update their knowledge of the terrain and send reconnaissance reports to the Pact.
She met Lucius her first night in Amnoon. And quickly understood what he was. They danced around each other for a couple of days before they agreed to a meeting outside of the city to discuss the reason of Elie's coming to Elona.
17. Who fell in love first?
I'd say it's a draw. They grew close during the months before Balthazar's arrival and got together after Joko's death.
22. Who gets more easily embarrassed?
Lucius is quite confident in his worth and not easily flustered. On the other hand, Elianora has a lot of insecurities that she hides under her adamant flamboyance. So poking at her flaws or things she's self-conscious about is an easy – if risky – feat 😅
Tumblr media
37. What do they like the least about each other?
They happen to share a fatal flaw. They would work themselves beyond the point of exhaustion if not for the constant vigil of their partner. Trahearne had to carry and physically keep Anwen in bed on more than a few occasions. And Anwen had to relieve him of duty her fair share of times.
And of course, when they're both too caught up in work, too intricately entangled in their duties to take care of themselves, Meryw is always there to remind them. Healer's orders!
38. What was their most memorable date?
For long, it was their night at the summit of the Vizier's Tower. It was their first day back in Caer Aval, they had left the Reach after a first but most memorable apparition in society. So being on their own, back in Orr as it started healing, stealing a moment with the history of Tyria, and looking back on their own, for Anwen realising how smitten she was, even at the time, and for Trahearne opening a new chapter of his life – together.
With time, they will have other memorable dates, one of them being a dinner in Lightfoot Passage, enlightened by fireflies and wreathed in the sweet scent of orchids. Kralkatorrikk was defeated. Aurene, ascended. And they were getting married.

For the ask game, I'll take a 3 and 19 for Vyn! 👀
sure! i accidentally wrote a lot. i’ll put it under the cut, so i don’t clog anyone’s feed.
3. “what are their religious affiliations, and how does their worship affect their day-to-day life?”
— being an assassin of the dark brotherhood, it’s obvious that orivyn holds some form of reverence for sithis and the night mother. the dunmer hold beliefs that sithis’s birth was the start of creation anyways, and thus, vyn has a lot of respect for the obscure entity. his relationship with the night mother is— of course— more intimate. regardless, he still holds respect for other deities. most.
in terms of worship, i believe that his worship is displayed through his interactions with the world: with each contract killed, he refuses to tamper with the body ( unless necessary for a series of contracts i.e. leading to the emperor’s ) in a belief he will desecrate it. he does this with all other corpses unless they have posed some threat to him.
if possible, he may leave a deathbell or nightshade flower beside the corpse, like an offering to the soul as it travels to the void. he, also, collects bones or skulls. vyn holds the same beliefs about death as gabriella, where the brotherhood “plays some part in a being's inevitable end”. doom’s herald, as she says, honour too.
as for the night mother, he frequently leaves offerings beside her coffin whenever he can— flowers like the aforementioned, bones, teeth, skulls. orivyn greets her when he can, and heeds her words. there hasn’t been a time where he’s disrespected her (cough astrid).
fun bonus fact: his worship of the night mother feels more sincere than anything else. as youth, vyn was encouraged to pray to azura, who his mother revered. yet, he slowly felt more “abandoned” over time by the prince. he silently ceased his prayer in belief no deity would “save him” from his sorrow.
19. “how are they with money? do they hoard, or do they spend until their pockets are empty and they have to find work again? have they saved for any houses?”
— i’d say orivyn’s fine with money, i don’t think he spends until his pockets are empty. it’s not something i’ve given much thought. he gets a decent pay from contracts and work on the side, and is cautious and reasonable with his septims. spends a little, saves a little, just in case... asides from when him and gore are at an inn. he consistently offers to pay for every single drink until gore gives in. they’re both stubborn as fuck.
and, yeah, vyn manages to get a small house. he sees no need for a giant manor with stewards and whatnot. a small, secluded cottage concealed in the amber forests of the rift suits him just fine. think elianora’s ruska, just in a different spot, and with a slightly altered interior layout. very cosy.
city life would be too much for him. i also like to think that vyn chose the rift, as he’s heard a lot about how gore cherishes the aspen groves. he shares the home with him.

Something I wish we could do, instead of going along with their quests where they all just end up dying at the end, is recruit NPCs onto our “staff” as we, as the player character Tarnished, are questing to become Elden Lord.
The idea came to me when I was talking to Boc at the site of grace he’s sitting near in Leyndell. I’m sitting there and I think “I have a royal tailor… why tf can’t I convince other NPCs to come here with me?” (Don’t beat me to the “that’s a whole-ass fix-it-fic, man!” joke, I’ve already made it just now)
But what if, though?
Screw invading Varré’s world and killing him for his weapon - I’m dragging him back through that invasion sign and making him the royal physician-on-call, dammit!
Kalé ain’t stayin’ out there in the cold, and if I have to drain the swamp of people who still remember the merchants as heretical to give the other merchants a home away from their great caravan I WILL (including the ones found underground) - but Kalé is gonna be my steward of commerce!
Hopefully I can get to Elianora or whatever-the-heckie the violet bloody finger bish’s name is before Yura does so that he can be my foreign affairs consultant.
Blackguard Boggart is gonna be my head chef, no ifs ands or buts about it - Liurnia has an overpopulation problem concerning the giant crayfish and he will be key in my efforts to remedy them of that problem.
I’d need representatives to send out to the different lands every now and again, and I think that Millicent and Rya/Zorayas (plus two big n’ strong Crucible knights, so Millie don’t gotta go Pokémon Scarlet Rot blooming on me) would be a good pair. Both would show that I hold those under the category of “afflicted” (either by circumstance of birth or by circumstance of life events) in high regard - high enough to trust them with managing my affairs in a far-off place. (Plus I think those two would get along well and would bond over their looks - “I am so repulsive that I am sure I scare the small children.” “And you think I don’t?” Yknow that kind of bonding?
It’s past midnight now as I’m typing this - if ya wanna add onto this post, it’ll be pinned for a bit, but yeah… what do y’all think of this?
