“The moment Gale was alone he let his illusion drop, the false form melting off like tar.

His journal manifested in his hands, summoned from the ever growing void located in his chest.

It flipped itself open to the last page he had been writing in; notes on the eye and tendrils of Karsite weave that sprouted from his back.

The eye kept freely looking around before the rest of him caught up. At times, it seemed to move without his conscious input. The weave tendrils too, moved around with what seemed to be a will of their own. The charges he was undergoing both equally parts fascinated and frightened him.

What frightened him the most, though, was when the void in his chest communicated with him, overwhelming him with emotions and thoughts that were not his own.

Each time, it demanded to be fed, to be given the chance to grow.”

Dkslslsks I'm imagining Professor Gale who married a very eldritch Dark Urge so when he says his spouse will be dropping by today to bring him a book he forgot in his tower everyone is expecting someone like Gale, soft, nerdy, big librarian vibes. But instead what they get is a Bhaalspawn with completely black eyes and pointed teeth and a shadow that doesn't match their body and when they say "hello children" their voice sounds closer to a chorus and his students are just sitting there absolutely fucking stunned as Gale gives them a cute little kiss on the cheek to say thanks for the book as they leave. And he turns around to see every single student staring at him, mouths agape, in total and complete shock

I returned my sorry carcass to another pottery painting event, armed with 10 spells/cantrips; a specially-purchased personal brush set; and severe anxiety at only having 2 turns (okay, 2 hours) to cast them all successfully upon a solitary drinking vessel.

Vessel of Arcane Pep and Vim:

+2 to Wisdom saving throws upon use, use once per short rest (when I get up from my desk to boil the kettle).

I now have a little set of 'low-key bg3 merch' to my name - and I eventually got a li'l plant from Søstrene Grene for my Netherese vase.

And now I need ideas for when I inevitably go back again... Anyone?

I think all the Spell Caster Companions should have like, a mini, petty rivalry over who is the better spell caster, but mostly just to tease each other.

It starts with Gale making an off handed remark about Clerics but when he gets targeted later during a fight and nearly goes down, Shadowheart looms over him like, “What’s wrong, Wizard? Can’t heal yourself with those spells of yours?”

Then a day or so later when the whole group is surrounded by enemies, Gale casts Fireball, taking out the enemies but leaving everyone else unharmed, then shoots a cheeky grin at Shadowheart like, “My apologies, were you going to call down some divine magic just then?”

They’re at it for a while, constantly going back and forth, then one day they’re both tired and ended up spending all their spell slots up early in the day due to some tough fights but Wyll walks up after just having gotten his back and casually is like, “Imagine not getting all your spell slots back after an hour of rest. Couldn’t be me. I guess I’ll have to do the heavy lifting today while you two stick to Cantrips :)” and is promptly added to the ‘Spell Caster v Spell Caster’ war.

And from then on it’s just like:

Gale: Ah, Wyll! Can’t cast Fireball without possibly scorching one of our dear friend’s eyebrows off in the process, eh?

Wyll: I admit I cannot, but at least I can cast Mage Armor without expending a Spell Slot and I have the best Darkvision in the camp, able to see through both magical and non-magical darkness. Can your spells do that?

Or:

Gale: Not many ranged spells, hm? Firebolt is one of your best options, and it’s a Wizard spell.

Shadowheart: You really shouldn’t pick a fight with the one person you depend on to bring you back from the dead and heal your bruises.

Or:

Shadowheart: Out of spell slots again, Wyll? I suppose it’s good you have that little Eldritch Blast Cantrip.

Wyll: You’re just jealous I can speak to Scratch and any other animal my heart desires while you can only watch.

im always so very confused when i see people say playing with wyll in the party is hard because he's a warlock... i thought warlock was one of the easiest classes?? Coming from a background with 0 knowledge on DND and games like this, I struggled infinitely more with Gale and Shadowheart than I did with Wyll? If anything, warlock was one of the easiest classes to pick up.

gale has a line in reaction to wyll's questline where he says something like "and THATS why you dont become a warlock" and i do think serenity would give him a face laden with the exasperation of 10,000 forgotten gods. do you have something to say about my pact, sweetie.
