Also, while I'm ranting again. it's a bit concerning to me to see so many people equalize their character's actions to their own and viewing fictional ocs as an extension of person's real life morals. I don't know who needs to hear that (the majority of the fandom, perhaps), but you really, desperately, need to learn to distinguish fiction from reality. It's pissing me off how much people really talk about others playing (and enjoying) evil routes of the game as a "red flag".

To say it much simpler: that's why it's called an rpg, role-playing game, because you're playing a ROLE, a character.

people that can't accept that astarion's alignment is absolutely, definitely, canonically fucking !neutral evil!, are hilarious to me. idk how??? did we play the same game?? genuinely?? do you think neutral character would approve of raiding the grove & killing a bunch of refugees & killing the gnomes etc???

not to be an ass but I do wonder now after developers stances on controversial endings how does majority of astarion's fandom feel knowing that they were wrong the whole time with their "holier than thou" attitude lmao

#I wonder how the “it's no longer him anymore/cazador 2.0 (which would be hot btw but that's not the point)/ he lost his soul (they mean it #literally)“ feel like after acting so morally superior about the choice in a video game lmao #that's very clear that both endings are valid and there for a fucking reason. you can either make him better or make him worse like hello??? #what was so difficult about understanding it. there's no “true” or “right” ending these are different paths #both are still astarion. spawn astarion is no less astarion (read: asshole) and ascended astarion is no less astarion (just his worse self) #and btw. spawn astarion is a better person which does not mean that he's a fucking saint or lost his character either :'/ #I find it strange that fans feel the need to literally sanitize a character or idk. take away all of his darker sides to love him #and ascended ending is very important to astarion's character and writing in whole. just as spawn astarion ending is important. #they both serve different purposes. they're both valid and interesting and important to his character #completely dismissing ascended ending is very weird to me because of that.
