look, I don’t really trust dolphins a lot of the time, and I take issue with the ‘dolphins are ocean jesus and sharks are mindless killing machines’ narrative that pops up a lot in popular media
but he is my exception

Hi y’all :)
Long ago I created a Pinterest board with some pictures I found that remind me of Sentinels of the Universe (and Ecco in general), so please check it out if you’d like! :)

Someone asked for more Foe lore so here's a little thing about the actual reproductive process of the Foe.
Seeds of poison gave us a glimpse into how the Foe Queen works, so i'm going to expand on that between Seeds of Poison and the Hatchery level because the Foe have a possibly very freaky reproductive process. Basically, the Foe Queen 'eats' living things. A portion of that food is turned into energy and what have you - like when we eat something. Instead of digesting food and breaking it down into waste though, she begins to assimilate the thing she ate using advanced biological enzymes which, like an extremely advanced biological infection, rapidly begins to override the original organism's DNA and slowly transition it into one of the Foe. The "egg case" is mandatory for this, as the fluid inside the egg case has the same density as water but contains the nutrients required to transition the host organism into a larval Foe stage. This fluid is a biochemical marvel, containing a cocktail of growth factors, hormones, and nanoscale catalysts that accelerate and guide the transformation process, fortunately the original organism seems to be incapable of feeling any potential pain or discomfort during the process and seems to be dormant. This might have something to do with the fact that, outside the egg case, these larval forms rapidly degenerate and die.
The larval stage is most likely an inveritbrate, covered in a chitinous exoskeleton that isn't fully formed. It can still hurt you, and will hurt you, but for the most part the larvae are dormant. As the assimilarion reaches a proper median stage, the egg case becomes completely opaque and hardens, the exosheleton is broken down into base components. The median stage then enters one of several end stages based on specific chemical signals supplied to the egg. The first signal causes the larvae to pupate and anchor itself to the bottom of the egg case where the shell splits in three sections, it becomes completely immobile and is fed by the caretaker in the hatchery at this point while the chemical signals change again based presumably on what the Foe Queen needs at the time.
These chemical signals, possibly pheromones or synthesized biochemicals, direct the final transformation. The pupae evolve into one of several types of Foe drones, each with distinct roles and functions. The primary purpose of these drones is to defend the Queen and provide her with sustenance as needed. The nature and characteristics of the drones are dictated by the current needs of the Foe collective, as interpreted and signaled by the Queen.

"The power of our most exalted one would destroy you easily! But you will never know, for I will finish you myself!"
Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future is my most favoritest game of all time, and I've been meaning to do something for the Ice & Fire level foreverrrrr. I just didn't know how I wanted to do it, and I thought going for this look would be a fun little go to see how it would turn out. It was honestly harder than I thought it would be, and maybe wasn't the best stylistic choice for the detail and vibe that I really would have liked, but I still really like how it came out!
Hardly anyone knows about the game (at least that I know of, lol), but it's just such a gorgeous, unique experience and it was such a big component of my childhood! Honestly this just doesn't do justice to my obsession lol but for now, it's not too shabby.
